Worth trying & buying

I’ve tried Duolingo and have been taking private Norwegian lessons, and this app is perfect for learning vocabulary. While it’s not meant to teach grammar (so don’t count on that), it is helpful for the beginner who has already started and needs help covering some ground (getting more words down!). Worth trying. There’s a reason it’s not a free app for the full experience.

Grammatical gender?

I like Drops as an app in and of itself (especially for casually studying languages I don’t have the time to completely devote myself to)... but is there a reason none of the Norwegian nouns have a matching article to help indicate their gender, the way other Germanic and Romance languages do? E.g., en måne, en fot, et brød, etc. Grammatical gender does still have influence in Norwegian (for example... knowing what version of “a” to use before a noun), even if it’s not AS important as in, say, German. Not even getting into feminine nouns, which yeah you don’t have to know but if you can learn that something can be ei jente at the same time you learn jente, why wouldn’t you? It just makes the Norwegian course kinda useless, since if you’re going to learn nouns in a language with grammatical gender of some kind, you NEED to learn what its gender is at the same time. A mention somewhere that this is specifically for Bokmål and not Nynorsk probably wouldn’t hurt, either.

Great app!

This app is absolutely amazing! I use this and Duolingo to help me learn but I don’t like how you can’t keep learning for the day without having to pay. I’m learning Norwegian for family and only being able to learn a few words a day isn’t very helpful and Duolingo is helpful but doesn’t make sense to me all the time and is fast paced. I wish you didn’t have to pay to learn but besides that the app is amazing and is very helpful when you want to learn at your own pace. I would definitely recommend having other apps too where you don’t have to pay to keep learning since this doesn’t teach you much in one day like other apps might be able to.

As I’m half Norwegian I’ve decided to learn

This app is amazing! I already know some Norwegian words now like fokost wich means breakfast! This app makes it supper easy for anyone to start learning, they repeat words enough to where you come off pretty confident that within maybe a day you will have the words 80% if not 100% down! Only thing I don’t like is that if you pay you get more time to learn, however I hate this with most apps, so I’ll take off some points but hardly anything. I gave this app 4 stars but really I think it’s four and a half stars

What kind of Norwegian am I learning?

So I am planning to move to Norway, but I can't tell if this is Nynorsk or Bokmål. I don't really care, i just wish the app would tell you. Otherwise, the app is amazing. It's just that you also need to wait 10 hours between lessons or pay for the subscription. Visuals are great and you can go back and look at all the words you've learned. If you don't have time for long drawn out lessons, these ones are only 5 minutes. Great app.

I love this app!

It is wonderfully designed and keeps everything organized for you! It lets you learn at your own pace, and helps you with vocabulary before grammar. I tried Duolingo, but it moved to fast in a direction I didn’t want to go! This app is easy to use and doesn’t have overly complicated lessons :) it’s slow and steady, perfect for me.

This is wonderful!

My friend recommended me to learn Norwegian, so that’s what I’m doing! There’s barely any ads, which I find fantastic as it is easier to learn that way. Though, I dislike how we have to wait 10 hours for my next lesson! Anyways, to sum this up, I love this app but maybe it needs a bit of improvement! (Also, I’m a kid so my formatting may be a bit off.) Bye!

#Norwegian Learner

I really like this app I’ve tried other apps but this one seemed to be the most successful so far I enjoy the way it makes new words sink in before adding more to your vocabulary, I mostly prefer when it gives the fill in the blanks and letter connects but I do wish less help is offered because what be the point of learning if hints simply give the answers away. Thank You for this app I have fun learning.

I prefer this method over Duolingo

Just being able to accept or decline which words you learn is a definite advantage over Duolingo. There are so many Norwegian words that are similar or exactly the same in English, it's great to be able to skip those.

Amazing

Love this app for learning! Very intuitive, and easy to use. Makes learning language fun and easier. It would be great if you were able to have a few flash cards of the words you learned that day to reference and practice until your next session is available!

Finally a easy learning app.

I’ve tried Duolingo for YEARS but couldn’t deal with how my dyslexia would get in the way of my spelling in some of the games. This one is so easy and dyslexic friendly. 10/10 recommend to anyone who needs it.

Gender NEEDS to be Included with Drops

I hate to be this harsh because I really do enjoy the app. I use it for Spanish and Japanese, but I really can’t rely on it for Norwegian. Norwegian is a gendered language, and it impacts the way it functions quite heavily. If I am learning nouns, but don’t know their gender, the learning process is pretty much futile. Please, devs at drops! I saw a comment raising the same issue three years ago, yet nothing has been done. If it weren’t for this ignorance, it would be a five stars from me. It’s quite a shame.

It’s more fun than candy crush!

This is like playing a really fun game that is very easy and works well for those visual and hands on learners. I’ve struggled with languages in the past because of it being hard to learn it in a hands on approach. The visuals, cues, and involvement keep you busy having fun and learning!

I LOVE IT!

I love this app! It’s fun and colorful and makes it really easy to retain the information you are learning! For the first time in a very VERY long time I am genuinely excited about learning! However, because of this I don’t want to put down the app and it can be very frustrating if u do buy unlimited learning time!

Seems like a well rounded app, love the simplicity and multi faceted way of learning. I’m a hands on person as opposed to normal book learning, this feels like something right between the two. I can definitely make this work.

Helpful, and fun!

I just took one lesson and I already learned a handful of new words! I almost forgot i was learning because it was really fun! The images and colorful backgrounds made it even better! I really recommend this app for learning Norwegian!

Fun

Surprisingly the new words don’t seem as hard because of the simple way they introduce it. I would recommend trying this app even if you have other apps as I’ve learned new words that haven’t even popped up once in many lessons on other apps!

Honestly very helpful.

I’ve tried different apps before but gave up. Already after 5 minutes I’ve learned more and confident I can retain it with some practice better than the others I tried

Easy

It's super easy and somewhat fun and super helpful and organized, it goes at your pace, its just the 5 minute thing that's kinda annoying, it also seems really expensive to buy the packages

Easy

Didn’t seem like it was doing much until I went to a grocery store on my trip to Iceland and found that I could read the labels. I only wish I had practiced even more.

Good app

I was skeptical because it had so few downloads but it turns out it’s a great app! It teaches you words and how to spell them in a fun and interesting way. It also has barely any adds which just makes it even better!

Excellent Vocabulary / Vocabulary Review game!!

I have used both Korean and Norwegian forms and they both are equally helpful. It makes learning so much simpler and fun - thanks a million to the creators who made this happen - quality, free language learning services are not often this readily available!

If you don’t mind learning to spell…

This is very good and easy. The spelling is a bit difficult, as I stink at spelling in English, so leaning to spell in a language that uses some different letters is challenging!!!! So far, I’m really enjoying it.

This app is incredible. It is so easy to follow and you go at your own pace. It goes over the same content so it really sinks in and keeps testing you so it’s not easy to forget!

Amazing

Amazing app I love it! I want to learn Norwegian and become fluent in the language and this app is helping a lot:) only thing I don’t like about it is that you have to wait 10 hrs for the next lesson:/ really a bummer but worth the wait

I totally love this app

I’m using it almost every single day I’m exercising 6 languages it’s so good for our vocabulary and I memorized so easily loads of words I absolutely adore it and recommend it to everyone, now even my mom is using it.

This is a really great app. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn. I think it should expand to be used for all languages. Very helpful with illustrations and not just descriptions like other apps.

Best language learning app ever!!!

I love this app! It has helped me learn a variety of languages, such as Norwegian, Icelandic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, French, German, and Turkish! It’s an optimal app for language learning, because it has interesting categories, and exercises to help remember the new vocabularies.

I left a review on the Icelandic one too, the only thing that would be cool if the photos were real photos of the words you are learning. Other than that I love it

First day on the app

The app does a very good job of keeping you engaged. It throws words at you to match up with images. This makes it pretty easy to memorize and I am happy with it so far.

Screen size fail

This looks like it could be a useful app, but the first time tutorial texts are completely illegible on an iPhone 13 mini thanks to being hidden by the notch. Do you not QA stuff before releasing it?

Realistic language learning app

They have short 5 minute vocabulary drill sessions that are really helpful and easy to do in the mornings, daily. Would recommend!

Super Easy & Fun!

A little too easy for a native German speaker, or someone who had studied a few other languages, but I wanted to start at the beginning. I only wish there was a level between beginner and intermediate.
