The app is really nice, but it does need some work. It would be nice to get a notification when something new is posted. Instead I have to keep checking daily. It would also be nice for the parent and teacher to communicate on here as well.
Use this app as a professional and parent. As a professional, some features has to be change via their website when I use it and has to be change manually every new drdp season. Also, Interface is slow and Buggy at times. As a parent, I found it strange that there is no way to opt out of the daily emails. I already look through the app near the end of the day and the email just becomes spam. Otherwise the app works for what it’s suppose to do but much can be improved.
There is no way to see who wrote anything in the app. There is no way to comment on something put into the app or respond to what was put in instead of just a like option. I want way more options instead of just a like option to something. There is also no way to see if a message has been read in the actual message section. This could be a good app if these features were added.
I thought we were going to be able to see our observation posts after to be able to keep track of what we’ve done and sent in. I hope this can be added into the parents genie soon, if this was added I’d give it 5stars
Overall, the app is OK. However, today I have to write the message twice because the app crushed during typing. Please fix it ASAP! It is so frustrating experience.
My assignment all show completed I have only completed the first week of November. On the school side it shows I only did one day of inkinds. I’ve reported the issue several times. My child’s school is losing funding due to this issue
As a parent, the in kinds are way to tedious. I guarantee your numbers go down because it’s such a pain. It’s like 8 clicks to enter one activity for one day and sometimes there are seven activities.
Intermittently stops working. You’ve to manually refresh the timeline to show updates. Messaging is a disaster. Sometimes, the message recipients names get mixed up. Inferior app compared to other daycare apps.
We are big fans of this app from the grandparents' community. Our grandson's school started the Learning Genie program. This app made it so easy for us to stay in touch with our grandson's daily fun moments and learning activities everyday, even when we are a distance away from him. We absolutely it. It made us feel we are part of his life everyday. Isn't that cool that we know what book he read and what song he sang at school? He thought it was pretty cool too (that we know it) when we talk. We felt we can have real conversation about things he cares. The Learning Genie support team was very helpful too. My son was initally manually forwarding my grandson's email daily report to me everyday. Later I decided to write to them to get myself subscribed to the reprot directly. It happened instantly. They also introduced me to this app which is even better to receive live updates. We felt we can see our grandson all the time from our iPAD. That's so wonderful. Thank you for making such a great app. Great job.
I love being able to receive updates about how my daughter is doing while at school. I don't even have to do anything but sign up! It helps me plan my day because I know how my kid's day went even before I pick her up. No more meltdowns in public because I didn't know she missed her nap :) I would recommend that everyone get their schools to use it!
It’s nice to have a quick way to stay in touch with the teacher. Issue 1) At least 40% of the time I check it I’m logged out, so if the teacher sends me a message I wouldn’t know it. I had to set a reminder to check it to make sure I’m logged in. Issue 2) the main screen is in no discernible order. So basically the developers have made groupme for teachers and parents. Why don’t you just copy groupme down to the last detail, at least it never logged me out
I think this app is fine for keeping track of what my toddler did at preschool BUT it frequently tells me my login into is wrong and I am forced to reset my password. The login info is saved on my phone so I know it hasn’t changed so it becomes quite annoying to keep having to reset my password. There were also a couple times that it didn’t notify me that my son’s teacher had messaged me.
Love the app, it there are a few things I’d like to see improved: 1) chronological sorting. As the care providers update throughout the day, sometimes the timelines are all over the place. The app should organize them by time 2) A more clearly visible division between days. It’s hard to tell between today and the day before 3) Add a way to share save videos 4) Notifications aren’t working for me.
We used to get a piece of paper with the agenda, and text messages with photos. Now I can pull up the app and see it in one spot, without papers everywhere. It's pretty much just a chronological feed, but it doesn't need to be any more than that.
I love seeing what my son has done during the day at his daycare and having information easily shared with me. Your app has really given me extra peace of mind! If your kids place doesn't have this yet, I highly recommend you tell them about it!
Great, but no way to “like” teacher updates/photos
We love using Learning Genie to follow our son and his awesome teacher during the day. However, it would be a fantastic feature to be able to interact with these posts like on social media, e.g. with “likes”.
I think this app could be a game changer for many child care settings. As a parent I love being in the loop and getting updates throughout the day. Room for improvement... -not chronological, can be confusing -no division between days -unable to save shared videos (the biggest bummer. )
As a parent whose toddler is in headstart for the first time, I love getting random pictures and messages each day ensuring me that my child is learning and being taken care of. This app has so much potential but it crashes and doesn’t load for DAYS 99% of the time. What’s the point of having an app that isn’t in real time?
I try to add a second child on the app on my iPhone 7 (tap the “add child”) and it does nothing. Just takes me back to the main thread. App also won’t let me tap “get support”. I tried reinstalling and it didn’t help.
I really like it so far, but I’m not getting any notifications from it. My childcare provider is posting a lot of stuff, but I need to check it from time to time to see if there are updates.
The best friend for a preschool teacher for daily reports and portfolios! The portfolio reports look amazing. I love the format. You got to check it out.
With the newest update I can’t even save pics that teachers post of my kids. Plus switching between kids is an arcane process in the UX. I’ll be recommending that our school use a new app unless these are fixed.
Would never use this app if I wasn’t being forced to by my daycare provide. CONSTANT technical issues and very clunky format. Brightwheel is 10x better.
My sons teachers have given me 3 different codes to try to register for the app and every time it tells me it’s invalid and it doesn’t even have my email in the system but I keep getting emails directly from LearningGenie - Parent that provides me with a parent code and my login at this point I’m just going to delete the entire app because there is no point of it being on my phone taking up storage space if it refuses to work for me. Would give no stars if possible.
