This app is one of the only ones I found that could cater to my needs! I am an autistic teen and go through periods of being nonverbal due to stress, anxiety, or I’m purely incapable. This app is a bit more child oriented and would be a lot better if it had adult options. Another thing is the fact it has other available packs, but they cost money. Not all of us have the support system or the ability to pay and it sort of hinders me from communicating fully what I need. I use this for school, around friends and my boyfriend, and sometimes struggle to find the correct phrase. Other then that this is a wonderful app!
My son is speech and developmentally delayed. That being said, we work with a few different ways to communicate and an app like this was suggested. I downloaded over my cellular network, and I had no audio. I went home and deleted the app and re-downloaded on WiFi and the issue resolved. I did contact support between problem and resolve and they were SO kind. Never, ever had support like this and I work for one of the biggest tech companies in the world! While this app is a little advanced for my three year old, we’re only on day two and he’s starting to catch on! It’s wonderful to see his eyes light up as the board says what he is thinking/wanting and it helps clear some of the frustration. Thank you LeeLou!! Amy
I noticed upon immediately opening the app to set it up, that this AAC app is VERY child-centric. I’m an Autistic Adult looking for AAC for the days I go nonverbal. I personally find that to be the flaw with a vast majority of these apps. They are all CHILD centered. Those autistic children do grow up. They turn into autistic adults and teens. They still need these apps for those accommodations, and making them only have the option of child-like avatars, parental settings for the account, and “cutesy” really really deters us from using the things that we need. I’m not trying to be rude at all, I’m just asking, like so many others, that the creators of this app stray away from the infantilism of autism and the stereotypes of who needs these apps. We aren’t all 8- year old boys. I kindly and hopefully suggest making another app, or even adding another mode option to this app in particular so that is adults and teens can use it without feeling like we are being looked at like children. I really have not found a single AAC app marketed toward Autistic Adults. It would be SO AMAZING if we could find or make one.
Great app! But please change it so it can also be for adults-teens!
I’m an autistic teenager and this app is really helpful for me after I come down from a panic attack or sensory over and am Nonverbal. However I do notice that the app seems to be mostly catered to young children! Autistic non verbal adults and teens exist so I recommend making two separate modes. One for autistic youth and another for teens and adults. And also adding to the people tab (probably in 10+ mode) lover, boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, and spouse! Oh and maybe a pronouns tab too! That would really help be more inclusive! Tysm for reading my review. Please keep up the great work.
As an autistic person who’s very aesthetically oriented this app felt perfect for me since I can’t bear to look at most of these types of apps. My only issue I’d say is that it reads out the categories you’re clicking on which makes me feel like I’m being interrupted and people can easily guess or assume what I’m about to say, nor does it really let me use manners. I wish there was an option for it not to read the category you click on :(
I don’t have a problem with the more “childish” art, honestly it drew me to this, most aac apps I was finding were hard to look at for me, so this was nice :) I really do wish typing or custom phrases were a free feature as it can be so important. It would be super helpful to be able to say why I’m not talking (ex. overwhelm, sensory overload, tired, etc) and how someone can help me !! Even just pre-made sentences for those would be great! I also find it frustrating how when you click on a section in a pack it automatically reads the name, while I understand that this may be helpful for some, it would be great to have the option of turning it off :)
As said in the title, I love the app but have a problem with it After a few words or sentences it stops working. It will not say what I have clicked on or typed after only a few words and I have to close out of the app Other then that the app is amazing and very helpful
I’m a variably speaking autistic adult and I’ve just started looking through the app. In the People category, there’s no option for spouses, which is a problem because I’m married. Neurodivergent people can and do get married, so I think it is an egregious oversight to not include spouses as an option/category. While I could believe that there was no ableism intent behind this exclusion, said exclusion is still ableist in itself. It also, for anybody who downloaded the app for someone else, silently reinforces the idea that we’re not worthy of marriage. At best, it infantalizes the adults who need AAC.
I love this app, i have autism and i go nonverbal a lot so it’s a big help, it’s not confusing or frustrating for the most part.. sometimes when i’m using the app the voice cuts off and it won’t turn back on unless i close the app and open it over again and it’s very confusing, other than that it’s a great app
Hello, I’m a teenage autistic person and I have been looking for a app to use when I’m nonverbal for ages. While this is a good app compared to most, some pre-made sentences almost seem like a joke. When they are putting “can you take me to the moon Elon musk” and making you have to pay for words relating to food. I can’t take this app seriously. I would just say I think the developers need to get theirs, and their directed audience’s, priorities straight.
I love this app but after two sentences it stopped reading out loud. Even if i used preprogrammed words or tried to have it say a category it just wouldnt. I love the art and the ease of use though! Its my favourite AAC app i just wish it wouldnt break.
I have a problem where after I use it a certain number of times (not spam it, just use it normally) it stops working and I have to restart the app :( please fix!
the app is over all nice, i like the inclusivity of the pronouns tho it’s missing it/its, but if you go to “conversation” then “nonverbal” and scroll down, there is a puzzle piece emoji for autism. the puzzle piece represents that we are complicated and broken, and it also is a logo for “autism speaks” which is a hate group with no autistic people in their staff, none of their money goes to autistic people or families, they use blue to represent autism being a “boy” thing (which it is not), and they also demonize autistic children. please remove the puzzle piece emoji (🧩) and use the infinity sign instead (♾️)
the app is amazing, but when referring to specific people, you would need a name for a specific person, i feel you should be able to add or type something specific. and when you cant pay for premium(if its added) i cannot have premium(im a semi-verbal minor without access to money) and i feel it should be free. there should also be a “sorry” response please reply if possible
Love the app but fix the crashes!!!!! Please!!! Everytime I go to type my own sentence since the terms are limited it crashes :( I need this app to communicate
Leelo is the best app ever. I love learning new words through it. Very helpful and very smooth. Thanks to the developers for creating such a masterpiece I love this app and learning everyday with help of leelo.
With non verbal kids, it is a vital part of communication to express when they have a need to go to the bathroom, in car rides, school and in life in general. Can we add a free pack that is for potty? What do I do to add it myself? Is there options to add what we need to the packs? Ie “chicken soup” or etc? Bathroom cards are vital please help.
Today was the first day I was non Verbal for the first half of my day :c People kept asking me stuff and I had to get my sibling to respond because I knew they would think something was up with me if I used a text to speech app to talk:c I’m not sure why this app has bad ratings,it’s the best app ever!1!1! There’s so many options and it’s so Awsome Sauce!11!1!1!!1!2 >:3 Anyways I love you leeloo!1!<3 P.S: Metalocalypse,SUPERJAIL,12 oz mouse,Southpark, and the boondocks are AWSOME XD
First I wanna say that i am searching a lot this kind of but Leeloo was the one of best of them . It features are really good .I recommend the app to my family and friends.
It’s nice, but ignoring the fact that it’s only made with children in mind, it crashes every time I try to use the typing text to speech feature. Very frustrating. :(
I work with children with autism and downloaded this app but when I type in a phrase it rambles off with a sentence that dosnt make sense before what I typed it said. It dosnt make sense
i love the app, it's great, never seen a free app that's expressive as this but under the quarantine category, with fitness, it says "i like doing fitness" twice!
when i try to do anything, a voice (not the one i selected mind you) reads the code out loud instead of reading what it says. For example, I select the voice “Eddy” and instead of Eddy’s voice saying “This is a test voice,” The default female TTS voice says this: “Speak voice name = com.app.eloquence.en-US.Eddy this is a test voice voice speak “ it was not doing this earlier and when I was figuring it out more after closing the app for house, I came back to this. I uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted my phone, nothing’s working!!!
