Letters

I'm repeating what others have said - It's a great app, but it crashes constantly, requiring a computer re-start. I can create a number of files, and I love the look of them, but then I'm done for that session because the app just sists there and doesn't respond. If not for that, I would give this app 5 stars.

i've only been fooling around with it for a few minutes now, & noticed a few troublesome glitches !!! One is that i should be easiler & more obviously obvious as to how to move one of these easy peesy word ornaments to Art Text 3 for more refinements. Two is that while it says that these were all created with Art Text 3, it might be more educational if The Method of their creation were revealed !!! ( How are The Bubbles made in SOAP ? Three is that when i Select 'Purchased' it brings up The 'Sets' that i've purchased, But Not The Individual Letter Designs ! i have to select 'All' & scroll through The Entire Collection to Find Them ! And : The Scrolling itself is awfully glitchy, with sections doubled over & The Title Bits Overlapping The Selctions !!! What's that About ( ? ) ! As i mentioned to Blight once before; What i would really like is A Random Button, that would create some CrazyAss Font Design that i could then refine into something 'Just So'. ( ? ) This feature would allow The User to Build on A Randomization or Start Over with A New Randomization Sequence. ( ? ) Also; The Sets are A Tiny Bit Expensive ! ( ? )

An incredible variety of font effects which maybe somehow you could create on your own? But why would you want to? I know I don't! Fonts are a critical part of design, and it's easy to over-do any design, and get too crazy, and the fonts no longer complement the message, but draw attention to themselves. Easy to do with stuff like this. But they're tools. A lot more tools to work with. I don't use it often, but it's nice to have it. I think it's very impressive.

I intended to use "Letters" to create a text for a logo. I need something that would allow me to manipulate letters in a plane. I wanted one word to appear as if it were laying flat, i.e. on a table. I need to set the thinkness of the letters as to not appear flat. This review is already too long. The product needs provide a bit more control. It is possible as if the devs and provide 3d manipulation they could provide single plane movement as well. So if they added rotate and tilt and include letter depth they would have a winner. As a business owner I do not have time to figure out how a tool works to the degree this would need. I will be moving on to something else.

Letters does not abide by what are, at this point, standard UI conventions. Getting the type to do what you want takes steps that focus on the bells and whistles while ignoring the basics. I should be able to select a type treatment, click on the canvas, and start typing. To make modifications, standard procedure would be to apply filters, not to have to go through a sidebar with icons that are not intuitively obvious and don't have rollover IDs. Yes, Letters isn't an Adobe or Serif apps. It should just behave more like them.

I think it’s pretty cool to have an app solely dedicated to letters and making them fancy. It’s quick, and the results are more than passable for screens (I probably wouldn’t use this for print work). The only snafu I ran into is that I couldn’t find any system requirements other than the OS. I’m still rocking a late 2009 MacBook. Don’t judge, it still runs. But unfortunately, it’s lacking the processing power for this app as it’s really laggy. Almost unusable laggy. Well, unusable if it were a production environment. Otherwise, it was fun; for five minutes.

I have used Art Text 2, 3, & 4 and loved every one of them. I love this the same. I know it is the same developer. So I must ask where the 'Stroke' feature is? That was always so well done on each Art Text that I have NEVER found another Graphic Design App to equal those. Until this. Minus that. Which is???

I have only used it for a few hours and I have already discovered so many ways you can customize the letters. I specially like the 3D effects and the possibility to rotate the text 360 degrees. It's fantastic. The only thing I would like to see added to it is the possibility to import a vector file like Illustrator and apply these effects to it. Nice job guys

I have used Letters, as well as othe Belight software, for years and I am happy to recommend all of their products. Letters has many features and I use it often without any problems. I hope they will make an ipad/iphone version of Letters. That would be perfect!

I downloaded your Letters app yesterday and I’ve been having such fun! I’ve sent about everyone I know an e-mail or iMessage, using both free and purchased apps. Someof those people, in turn, have downloaded them as well. Keep up the good work, sending us your great stuff. One day I’d like to experiment with your 3D Art Text. Thanks again BeLight Software.

"Letters" is a spin-off of the capabilities in Art Text. It's simply the fastest, easiest way to create 2D, 3D or animated text/graphic elements on a Mac. Not as powerful as Photoshop or After Effects of course, but MUCH FASTER and simpler. I've been a Belight customer since 2009, totally recommend all their current Mac products.

I love this app only problem it has many crashes ,if they can fix that issue it would be great! Although you have to pay for majority of them they give plenty to use for free. so overall im happy with this app and would high recommend.

I've used Art Text since it came out and this is a really quick way to get something done when you are pressed for time. Great that you now added more options as wll.

It doesn't export what you see in the app. The shadows are darker and dirtier. Its buggy as hell. You go to change a font and it doesn't change. I see the potential in it, but it's not there yet. I purchased some letters and they don't show up in the download area so i have to hunt for them. Just a sloppy app that could be so much more.

Im a graphic designer and i actually love this app but can we please get an update because sometimes when im almost done with a project the program crashes. My data is lost everytime. Literally makes me want to cry LOL smh. Please Fix.

Great application to make professional looking text! Takes a bit to learn, but the net results are some pretty cool graphics for blogs or social media.

Excellent app - so much faster than photoshop for this sort of thing. Excellent UI – devs know what they're doing! Keep up the good work!

It really is a nice app. I love it. I would love to make in-app purchases to get my hands on more templates, but in-app purchase dosent work.

The app is a great idea but there are some glitches. After typing a word, it is so difficult to get back to the settings that allow me to change something like a letter or a font.

This is Excatly What I Needed. Now If They Could Make This Same Thing For Windows I Would Be Really Happy Then. Lol

I barley know how to use it. But im having fun and enjoying the cool options i have for lettering. Definatley brings logos and art to life for a begginer.

The free selections are very cool. There are a few paid ones I will go after soon.

The app no longer connects and does not load anything.

I really like this App, I would rate this higher, but I went to purchase a "Set" for $5.99 and the App Store asked me to confirm my purchase price of $9.99. I hit cancel right away.

While the program is alright for the most part, there are problems that seem to have never been worked out, addressed and were never resolved. The pointer is sorely innacurate and troublesome. Selecting objects is tedious and cumbersome, and is also very frustrating when working with all the individual layers and parts in a project. Placing the cursor over a selected item, whether it's an object, or a text box, does not necessarily select it. I am finding that I must move from place to place just to finally access the object that I want to work with, or work on. The program is sluggish and very slow, making the level of frustration far higher than it needs to be. The results are Ok... not fantastic... just Ok. The quality isn't too terrible. But I don't yet know if it is compatible with other programs, or whether programs can import finished projects for use. I'm still exploring the program and learning my way around it. It claims to be intuitive, and to a degree it is... sort of. But with no clear guidelines, instructions or tutorials for how to use the program, the learning curve is much wider and takes far longer than it should. I like the results. They aren't really groundbreaking or stunning... they're just alright and not really anything special. There are builtin fonts and special effects in most WP programming (WP, ie, word processing) that can do just as good a job or better, without all the mucking around of creating different backgrounds and layers. This is especially true of the fonts and lettering. And what I find particularly annoying is the so-called "Free" that is attached to the program. Yes, you can download and install it for free, but that's where "fee" pretty much ends. To use it and to find design patterns, users must wade through an online quagmire of choices and selections to find what they are looking for. Then the program design must then be downloaded and installed before it can be used. And afterward, they are met with the same limitations and frustrations, and the program runs even slower. And the worst part of all??? The downloads must be purchased in order to use them. It's called "In App Purchasing." What the hell is that about? That is NOT free no matter what you say and no matter how you dress it. Yes, the program has a selection of free items, but modifying them is limited at best, and beset with the same frustrations of very slow response and sluggishness and an annoying inability to select the layer that needs to be altered and changed. Any changes slows the program down even more, so the more you make changes, the worse it behaves and responds and the slower it becomes. Not very useful... Like I said, there are other programs far easier to use and much more responsive than this, and the results can surpass this one, which I don't find particularly impressive or groundbreaking. If by "Groundbreaking," you mean how time consuming it really is just to use the program at all, then you nailed it. For these reasons and more, it only deserves a single star rating. since there is nothing less than a single star. I'd give it a half star if I could, or no star at all. I am debating whether or not I will cease using it and uninstall it. It will depend on the viability and compatbility with some of my other word processing and other programs, including videos...

Tried this on my 2021 14" MacBook Pro with M1Pro processor. Consumed all memory. Mac OS then requested me to shut things down. Deleted the app. Looked like it could have been good, but the memory leaks make it a non-starter.
