Same app dev as Pitcfork app, but pushy on privacy.
The app is made by greencopper, the same company that developed the pitchfork app and probably other chicago music festival apps. I liked their app at pitchfork except that it requires all sorts of permissions like bluetooth?? at boot up. And the same is true but worse here; it appears to the user that you cannot disable these permissions to continue through configuration. Otherwise, the app is not as suited to Lolla; the schedule is crowded and the map is not quite as intuitive — but that functionality is all there and useful. I’m sure they will update it soon.
Seriously- this is not only the worst festival app I’ve ever seen, but maybe the overall worst app I’ve ever used. For a company that creates music festivals so majestically, this is a tragic shortfall. It’s 2023- this thing should be an ultimate, ACCURATE resource. I should be able to view and click a one page schedule view to select acts, instead I print paper and use highlighters. There’s so much potential here. Imagine all the great things that could be done with connecting social contacts; Collaborative, sharing of, well, everything! Shared lineups, shared picture albums, shared locations. I want to make my schedule and have an AI App just tell me what friends will be at the same shows as me. C3- Please feel free to contact me to talk thru all these top notch ideas. I’ll do it for the cause as I’m on my 15th year of attendance.
Easy to view festival map, schedule, and food vendors at Grant park. Didn’t run into any bugs and helped the festival weekend run smoothly. Also provided weather notifications if weather conditions were changing.
Every year the app gets more unusable. This year theyve made it impossible to get more than 3 artists in a screenshot because they wanted to put ads in between the artists. Tip: just make a separate list in notes app at this point
The website has a great schedule view. The app just has a list. Plus, your website schedule does not sync to app. You must make a schedule all over again...
This app used to be pretty buggy and not provide that great of an experience however all the updates have fixed the issues. You can see the lineup, where things are located and set your favorite artists so you know when they play. There are a few features I’d wish they add like a map of the park and the ability to be able to open artists profiles in Apple Music. But other than that this app is pretty good.
The 2018 version was so much better than this year!! I don’t like that on the MyFest page you can’t compare the stages in the same view. Last year I could make a schedule where I could see the times, stages, and of course artist names in order as I went through the day. Why would you take that away?? Now I am scrolling around on hard to view pages where I can’t see everything all at once. Super disappointed. I’m literally using notes on my phone to make a schedule because the app is so bad and confusing this year.
While I'm sure the developers meant well, they failed miserably in several key places: 1. Wristband activation using Facebook times out and does not work. Multiple friends and I were not able to successfully register our wristbands this way and had to drop back to the manual option. The manual option requires you to type in tons of personal info and the developers didn't pick the right keyboard type for each UITextField, causing dozens of extra taps to get caps and numbers entered right. 2. While registering manually, if you decide you want to read the fine print about lolla cashless, the app makes you completely start over entering your CC info - why aren't the terms presented as a modal view controller????? The rest of the app for scheduling and exploring artists is great, but you know what they say - you only get one chance at a first impression.
I discovered the app about two weeks ago and eagerly favorited all of my favorite acts, easy enough. Here I am two days before the festival and it WILL NOT LOAD. I have left my phone sitting on the load screen for several minutes at a time multiple times over the course of the past few days, and nothing happens. It seems I’m going to have to recreate my set list because the branded app for the festival is incapable of functioning properly.
Used the schedule feature to mark the bands I wanted to see. Map was helpful in telling you where you were at any given time. I wish I could have pinned times onto the map. I wrote my schedule on my paper map and used the app to get the bios for the artists while I watched them. The app took a looooong time to download at the show. Do it the day before. Also, the app seemed to use a lot of battery. Still, I liked it overall and keep using it to read about the artists.
This app is a great companion to the #Lolla guest, great schedule and maps and all information for the weekend. And it's the schedule works in airplane mode when you're saving your battery!
Database corruptions have happened more than once to me, forcing me to reset all of my schedule and go through all the artists again. But, the app is very helpful other than that specific thing.
really pointless app. the scheduler isn't as interactive as i expected it to be and basically creates a list of the sets you're interested in. would be better if it was organized in rows to better see the overlapping times. i can easily make the bland list it creates in the notes app. also the fact that you can't use the app unless you have location services enabled is wild. the festival hasn't even started yet so why must you know where i am? the app design and layout was slapped together even though i'm sure preparations for the event began in 2015. should have done the same with the app.
First of all you rarely get any service in the park so being on your phone to text and browse is pointless only phone calls will go through as long as all your friends phone are still on. App is slow and not user friendly it’s only good for looking before you arrive
This App is great if you want to set your schedule the day before the fest starts and then pray they don’t update it before it ends. Otherwise, get ready to reset your schedule every time they update it. Cause when they do it wipes your saved schedule out. Guess that’s what happens when you hire preschoolers to manage your UX an UI.
I don’t know who thought the layout/function of the schedule needed to be changed, but they should be fired immediately. It’s seriously terrible and essentially unusable. Why fix what wasn’t broken?
The app simply doesn't provide the view of the schedule that the website has. Also, what is the point of making your schedule in the website when you can not sync it with the app. Very disappointed.
The new version of this app is barely usable. It doesn’t load correctly, doesn’t have any of the features that made building your own schedule easy and fun. Can’t even get the maps to load or artists info. Horrible.
Maps don’t even load - should be local in the app and not a network call, so this makes no sense. Generally just not very well designed for actual use at the festival
the app never works, it takes forever to load and always crashes before I can even do anything on it. fix it please, then I might reconsider downloading it.
App keeps crashing and the festival hasn’t even started. If I can’t even get it to work now at home on WiFi, what purpose will serve in the park with no service?
you’re better off just loading the url on your phone along with a printout of the schedule. you can’t sync up your online selection — you have to manually select them all again on the app. doesn’t show them in the schedule lineup so you can see all other stages, just a long list. what’s the point?
