The app is simple and generally fun on it’s face. The art is nice and the generating flavor text is nice. I found it be cause it was up for an award. It will likely not win because of issues. 1) Crashes. It does it most on customs but even looking at the store it may lock on you or crash to desktop. 2)Odd pricing. There is no way to buy all options and as it is to use the full program all options is $17. There is no buy all or discounts all packs are $2 except the first. That first pack at 4.99, I presume is priced to pay for the app but the others are true micro transactions and well prices except for that first one! Come on guys level the pricing or even recommend the first pack with a good reason. On the positive side The art while not AAA professional is good stuff. Making a magic item as custom is nice. Unfortunately, there is no common items or class but it has all the other standard rarity levels. The writing is great and the free price makes it worth a look. **Note revised review as it is not pointed out but after generation you can “Share” items created using Standard iOS options as a jpg.
Although not perfect, it’s everything I could have asked for in a free app. It has a collection of magic items to get you started, but I find that the true value is in making your own magic items. It gives you a verity of text boxes clearly labeled with the item’s name, the rarity, the description (a place for flavor text), mechanics, and requirements (for example, if the item requires attainment). And if that wasn’t enough it also lets you sort them neatly into separate groups. And if that wasn’t enough, it also has a verity of nice pictures to help you craft your own items (with many art packs for sale to give you more pictures). But if you’re broke like me then they also have the option to add your own picture. But if you use this app as much as I do to help make store all the homebrew magic items then I encourage you to do right by the devs and buy an art pack or two to help support their work.
This app provides services, that help with the creation process of a magic item. Instead of having to write it down in a document, or use a piece of paper, you can easily keep, and store your ideas in this app. The app also houses images that on occasion I use for creative inspiration. With such a large library of images, I feel like if I ever needed a new magic item, I would be able to make one stress free. There was recently a bug in the app that did not let iOS users to download expansion images. I left a concerned review, hoping that maybe they would fix the issue in the future. The next day they had fixed the app, and left a comment on my review letting me know. 10/10
I enjoy the app and the item therein. However, when viewing an item, there is no back button to get back out to the list. You have to go back out to the master lists, and then click on the sub list, then on the item you want to look at. And then instead of just hitting the back button, you have do to all of that all over again. Please add a back button!
Don’t like having to dig through various books for magic items? Don’t like having to create magic items from scratch and keep them stored on paper or in random folders? This app is perfect for getting quick and unique magic items on the fly as well as pre-planning magic items and even creating your own. Seriously can’t recommend this enough. Edit: issue currently with the new pack release that has two eagle helms at the top of all of my item groups, hope to see it fixed soon and hopefully corresponding NPCs in the NPC for hire app :-)
Hi, this App is pretty awesome, except, it is not downloading the images/items on the purchase list after I bought them. I only purchased one “The Shadow Index” and was planning on buying the “The Master Collection” but I won’t spend money when I don’t get anything in return. I keep getting a “download required” but nothing is downloading after clicking it, restarting the app, restoring purchases, or doing everything all over again. This app is a 5 star app, but I’m leaving a 2 star review until this is fixed. The free part is awesome, which is why it’s disappointing that the purchased items aren’t showing up.
I’m having difficulty downloading the image packs with the latest update; this app is incredible, but I feel a bit cheated for spending that much money on something I’m unable to use. I’ll gladly rate this 5 stars and recommend it to any and everyone if/when this problem is fixed Edit: Thanks so much for your help; everything is perfect now! An easy 5 stars for service and quality!
I would really, really prefer this app in landscape mode as I use my iPad as such while I run games. I find the portrait-only style limiting enough to dock a star. Other than this, the app (especially the free version) is exactly what I need for items on the fly. Landscape mode! Please!
I like this app. I think the art and items are unique and fun to work with. I use it. I like it. My hope is that the designers will update and fix some user interface issues around adding a back button to easily switch between different items or go back to the main list from an item. They can streamline purchasing new packs as well. Overall, good app to use in your DM tool kit.
This app is great! The adventure packs are reasonably priced, it's easy and free, and great random treasure generator! I love that you can make your own items; Could you perhaps make a bestiary like this for more kinds of homebrew? It's fine making entities and places here, (again, love the feature, very flexible) but it seems a bit out of place.
If you have a un-named magic item group you are unable to delete or edit it in anyway. Any fixes for this? It doesn’t break anything but is annoying to look at and Just makes navigating the menu clunkier
I don’t know (as a DM) what I would do with out this app. Even the mundane magical items it creates my players absolutely love and find very interesting ways to use. I recommend this app to everyone I know who loves DND and I hope they come out with more additional stuff soon!
Everything is great about this app. I’ve had this app for a while, and I love it. I found a bug where after I purchased the dlc images, it wouldn’t let me download them at all. I even redownloaded the app and it didn’t fix it. If the devs could look into this it would be great.
Deserves the five stars! I love this app wholeheartedly it makes creating personalized items for my gaming groups so much easier! I do hope we get more art/items I have already purchased all the available Adventure Packs and I can’t wait for more!
I absolutely love this app!!! I’ve been using it for a campaign I’ve been running for the past couple weeks and it really comes in handy when you can’t always think of fun or creative items. I really recommend giving it a try!!! :)
I loved this app back when I could just one-time purchase things, but now that the world is going to subscription based purchases, so too did this app. Now I have to pay a monthly subscription for artwork that half the time won't even download. Sorry, but this proves that even when you have something great, all it takes is a subscription to ruin it for all.
I love the current state and potential of this app. The artwork is really well done and the current options give you plenty of wiggle room of which items to create. Def a must have. But. You need/should add curses. Since cursed items are a really fun part of the game.
A really cool set of parameters to work with! The art is charming and the new art packs are suited well to flavor any themes one might be working with. I do really like that one can import their own artwork though! This app works great for creative folks who enjoy tinkering!
As I wake to prepare for my campaign’s session today, I open my app to share a few previously created items to the platform that is used to play. However, all my purchased materials will not download, nor do I have access to the nearly one hundred created items that I had previously saved. This should have been ironed out before going live with an update.
Is it really so hard to allow you to click on a picture to bring up the description? As it is all you get is pretty pictures with nothing that I can find to take you to the description…
I get a lot of use out of this app. It’s got good illustrations for the free version, and each pack has great additions. I’ve bought all the packs aside from the biggest one, and I enjoy each new item
I can’t say enough about this app it is truly amazing. Randomly generated items with pictures histories and capabilities especially if you spring to get the perks this ad really is amazing
For the LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, PLEASE add a method of scrolling items without having to go back to the library, scroll, tap, repeat. I cannot even begin to understate how annoying this menu flow is.
The artistry is top notch! The random generation of artifacts leaves nothing to be desired, well done on all accounts; and I thoroughly enjoy creating items as well! I can’t wait for more expansion packs for this app.
I love it. I’ve also love the NPC compendium. You could do something like this but with beasts/creatures or something. But you guys are doing great. Keep up the good work!
I owned every expansion on this app and then they updated, now I can’t create any item other than the basic ones. It recognizes that I purchased the expansions but won’t let me download the features or images.
Magwa, the most prestigious scholar of arcane antiquities, has spent his life traveling the Vast Kingdom in search of powerful and fascinating magic items. He has explored the darkest dungeons and braved the dens of dragons to bring you a magic item collection like you've never seen. He has finally published a portion of his discoveries in this mobile application for you to use in your next RPG adventure. His work includes over 30 free hand-drawn sketches and the option to buy many more. It even includes the ability to randomly generate items, create your own, and save them for later use. Magic, right? While the compendium is simple to use, it is more than just a random magic item generator. As a dungeon master, you will have the power to generate thousands of random magic items with a single tap. You will also be able to create your own custom magic items or adapt random magic items to fit your game setting. Once you find an item you love, the magic item compendium lets you save it to your phone so you can pull it up quickly the next time you play. To top it all off, the compendium includes a handful of wondrous items that are ready for you to reference and use in your game. The app is compatible with 5e materials and even pulls some of your favorite magic items straight from the D&D Systems Reference Document (SRD) via the Open Gaming License.
