I’m thrilled to see the desperately needed update to this mobile app! It’s soo much easier to navigate, to view the status of checked out items, holds, due dates, and book lists. Searching the catalog is exactly what we’ve needed for years. I deleted the old app because I got soo frustrated with glitches. Thank you to the tech team and staff for investing in a better app for patrons!
The old app was virtually unusable. The search gave you different and incomplete results compared to the website and it was horribly difficult to navigate. The new update (Fall 2023) makes it so easy to use, search works great, you can click on links within listings to get other books by the same author, loans/holds are easier to see and manage. So pleased with this update.
The card number should allow to be added to mobile wallets such as “Apple Wallet” so we don’t need to open the app to get our library card number also. The app is still very slow at pulling results. One of the best features I find on this app is simply it having an option to see all the items the library currently has on order.
I was wondering if Mid Continent had an app, and I was happy to see they did! Ignore the 3 star average, this runs great, just like the Online website! Awesome!
Actually, I can't seem to manage Hold suspensions from the app, so I will have to continue using the mobile version. also, the app shows that a Held item is suspended, but not until when. That's very useful when juggling several holds at once. Should also be able to search catalog from the home page. And when scrolling through lists, the touch time it too sensitive and jumps to pages not intended to be selected. I do like the "Similar" suggestions when searching the catalog. I also like the events page, but being able to select preferred branches only (a one-time setting perhaps) would be nice so i don't have to scroll through irrelevant events every single time. This app interests me, but I think it needs more functionality to be more useful and easier to use than the web browser version.
This app saves me so much time and so many headaches. I’m sure I’m not alone in going about my day, and then thinking, “Hey! I wonder if the library has a book about that?” or, “This book on BookTok looks awesome! I wonder if MCPL has it?” But then, if I’m out of the house, I have to type in everything into my phone browser and hope that I didn’t mistype a number, then wait for it to load uneven and GAH! It’s a hassle to be sure. This app, however, makes it SO easy to check on my holds, place holds, browse the library, and check location times and addresses. This is a very useful app and one of my daily go-to’s.
I use catalogue functions often. This new app has a filter by item type but is does not work even though item type is listed. Also there is no sort function. If you have a large number of items on search you are better off researching it elsewhere to get the exact title. Then you have less results to search through to find the format you want. I am giving it a 2 because once I do the above, it is still good for requesting and tracking holds.
This app has not been working for several weeks. I was told at the library that there is something going on with the app & tech is aware. It’s been weeks & I cannot get my loans to download or renew. I cannot make holds without the app freezing & saying something went wrong. How long does it take to get the app operational?
Not a user friendly app. My recommendation is just go to the library website on your browser much easier and more informative. I’ll be deleting this app.
I cannot find my wish list or how to start a new one. Cannot see how to send book to kindle reader. Changes but no improvement. Whoever designed this must not read
1. Love the idea of having an e-library card, but it won’t scan because my card won’t fit under your scanner in self checkout. If you make the barcode bigger or move it closer to the home button, it would work. 2. I rely on “My Bookshelf” to let me know that my books will be due soon. I was late returning a dvd because you have to scroll all the way down the page to figure it out for yourself. Can you have a red warning button somewhere to indicate that your items are due soon (see KCPL’s app). Thanks! This app is way better than your old one.
