Solid start, one major issue
While it is helpful to have a dedicated list that branches across multiple streaming platforms for programming, I have one key issue I want to address for the people at MAL. You need a dedicated ‘write review’ button on the shows listed. I want to write a review on a particular show so many of the detractors will understand or at least acknowledge the sub theme of the show, however, I’m only able to look at other people’s reviews they’ve written. No dedicated write review option, and apparently there is supposed to be one under the review option. I find this same issue applies to the manga section as well. A dedicated option for it will allow for a more free flowing wave of takes in various shows that will either pull in new viewers or push them away, and I would like to see a more broad based setup of them rather than the typical 4chan style ‘only popular posts stay up’ because that’s what I’ve been noticing with reviews that are up-it’s only the ones with significant attention. Beyond that glaring issue, solid 8/10 setup and certainly useful app

A good start, bright future, good move to put it out now in a usable state although unfinished.
I think it was a fine move to put the app out in its current state, while there are still many QOL, minor, major updates and improvements, to have the app in a working state, still nice & built, is incredibly useful. Understandably there are many suggestions, complaints, etc. but I’ve used this app a lot more than I thought and is really a one-up over the sluggish website on web (on a phone), even with some missing features. I hope development continues though since this is a really useful accessory to MAL, and since it’s release a few months ago I haven’t heard much so I hope it’s still having care put into it. Marketing the app better would be a suggestion too, considering I only heard of it through its initial release when the release post on the forums was on the front page. Thanks for this app, and Good luck on the future of the app.

Glad to have but needs some adjustments
The app has been a long time coming and so I am grateful to have it, but I find I still use the website more because the app needs work. One of the major let downs for me is that the “add to list” and “favorite” buttons are not immediately visible like on the website and other 3rd party apps. Sadly you have to click a button and wait for the screen to load, albeit a quick load, just to figure out if it’s already on your list or what episode you stopped at. It seems to me that there is also no advanced search page. You also can’t tell if an anime is on your “plan to watch” list or if you just haven’t added it to anything since it automatically highlights “plan to watch” if you haven’t watched it. This last bit is more of personal preference than an actual issue. I think the app should at least have the option of different views. As it is now it seems like everything is so zoomed in only a few things can fit on the screen. I feel like the app should be made to mirror the mobile version of the website just a little more or at least have the option to change it to look a bit more like it.

Could use a couple of improvements but still great!
I like the different lists that you can put anime into; Watching, Completed, On Hold, Dropped, and Plan to Watch. The “Dropped” and “On Hold” lists are definitely more unique to this app. I have 2 recommendations for the app developers. My first would be to maybe make an option for the anime titles to be in Japanese as well as English. You can still search in English, but title results are in Japanese currently. Unfortunately I’m not one to memorize the Japanese translations in titles so it takes a bit more research for me to find my titles if I’m not familiar with the anime’s thumb nail. My second suggestion would be to add more Netflix original anime as well. I looked up a couple of different Netflix original anime on the app and couldn’t find them. Examples; Blue Eye Samurai, Castlevania, Lookism. These aren't ALL super new titles either so it’s not that they’re too new to be updated, unless the app is that behind on updating anime. It seems like everything has been updated as far as new releases announced from AnimeJapan 2024 which occurred about 2 weeks ago, so that doesn’t seem to be the case.

A Great Start!
Before this wonderful first party app was released, I used a third party app that synced with my MyAnimeList account. That app worked fine, but eventually it stopped working properly due to issues with the API (or lack thereof, I can’t remember what the issue was exactly). After that third party app stopped working, I used a rather convoluted workaround that involved using the AniList app, then using a Chrome extension to sync my AniList account to MAL and automatically update my MAL account. MAL is my favorite anime and manga database, so I’m sticking with it no matter what. Then when I heard that MAL was working on a first party app, I was ecstatic. The day finally came when 1.0 was released, and it’s a fantastic start. Kudos to the devs for making such a clean, pleasing, and easy-to-use UI. Having used the app for several weeks now, I have no complaints, because the features that I want that aren’t here yet, are features I know that the devs are dilligently working on. I’m excited to see this app grow more and more in excellence. Keep up the great work devs!

The Exact thing I’ve been asking for.
Ever since I came to the realization that I’m starting to watch too much anime and I needed to keep track of what I watched, thus resulting in me joining the site back in January, MyAnimeList has done worlds for my watching experience. The fact that’s it’s being transferred to a mobile app I can use nearly anywhere makes it all the more better now. From what I’ve seen, there are very few bugs and glitches that really hinder my use of the site. It’s all in all a solid app. I’m aware that it is still in progress of being developed but if it could be possible to implement a dark mode or color customizers to the mobile version like there is in the desktop version, then it would be a lot easier for the eyes on those who watch their shows in the dark. But if there is a way to implement this on the app version, please let me know. All in all solid app and it’s just about everything i’d imagine and more from a phenomenal site like MyAnimeList. Thanks for your time!

Love the app, one flaw though
I had been waiting for a MyAnimeList app for the longest time. I didn’t discover this app till a couple months ago but this is almost exactly what I expected. I love the app, a true game changer. My only issue and why I give this a 4 star instead of a 5 stars is because I wish everything was in app. When I tap on reviews, or voice actors/actresses, I wish everything would pop up in app instead of taking it into the browser version. I think another small thing I wish the app had was “next episode air dates”, “myanilist” on the AppStore had this feature where it would track upcoming episodes, that was the coolest and most convenient thing, would be revolutionary if MyAnimeList had it. Overall fantastic app and happy that there is a mobile version of already an amazing website.

Needs more
As a start this app is fine, it has the basic functions needed from an app by MAL. However, I feel it is missing some key functions. The first would be browsing. I find myself often browsing via genre and in the app you can do that, for both anime and manga. Instead when you go to x series and click on one of the genres it belongs to it opens up the website instead. Granted when it takes you to the website you are automatically signed in which is a blessing, but I still wish you could do that on the app instead. The second would be writing a review. You can only rate and say your status for x series (completed, plan to read, reading, etc.) but you can’t write a review or even start a discussion. Once again it takes you to the website. I feel like writing a review should be an option. Lastly would be favoriting. Unless I’m missing something can’t seem to find a favorites tab. I know that I have favorited series, characters, and some authors but in the app I can’t seem to find it. If this is a function that is missing think it should be added soon along with the above functions. Overall the app is in a decent place. It has the bare essentials but it doesn’t feel quite finished. I don’t if it’s because they want to stick with the website more than the app but I would like to see this app succeed. As an avid user of MAL both the website and the app, I think the app could use a little more attention.

Confusing and Missing a Manga List
I am incredibly happy that MAL finally has an app! However, I do have a couple of issues with it in its current state. First - and this is the lesser of my critiques - I find navigating the app a bit confusing and cramped. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I just find navigating the app to be a bit of an issue. This may just be a personal problem, but if they could maybe make some changes to make the app reflect the MAL website a bit more, that would be great. Finally, the lack of a way to track and rate manga is really annoying. I am just getting into the world of manga, and I was really hoping I could use this app as a companion in that journey. But unfortunately, I have found no way to track and rate manga within the app, something I hope they fix soon. If this app was a bit less tough to navigate, and it had a manga list, it would be just what I had hoped. That all being, I believe this is a promising start, and I can’t wait for the app to improve!

Clean, convenient, & annoying
I’ve used MAL for years and I remember previous apps. None were made so cleanly or so convenient as this one. It generally works better than predecessors. However my biggest gripe is probably when I’m adding several chapters if not entire series of manga or anime at a time. Selecting “complete” is not always responsive if the manga has “? volumes total”. Most of the time tapping it does nothing. It just records it as currently reading/watching and I have to constantly scroll to the right until I reach chapter 143 and THEN it highlights complete. I haven’t figured out the consistent way to trigger the issue with the anime list but it still happens. If I could at least type in the number or if there was a scroll bar that let me quickly reach the chapter I need then I think it would be fine. The app makes it easier to search and update my lists with my phone and other than my chapter/episode gripe above, the app seems stable and not clunky.

Not the best
I love that we were able to get an app for MAL, but it just doesn’t live up to what I was expecting. I just joined MAL this month (November 2020) after a long time of not recording my anime/manga and deciding to try it out. I used the site on my phone which I thought was amazing. Then I realized MAL had just gotten an app and downloaded it myself thinking it would be more efficient to use. The layout is simple and easy enough to use, but there’s too little on it and there’s no manga list on the app either. I have used the site MAL on both my laptop and phone, and I love it, but the app? Not so much. You can only search for anime on the app and not the characters, manga, people, etc. it’s even hard to look for recommendations and just browsing for anime when it only presents you with the top airing, just added, top upcoming, seasonal animes, etc. the app really isn’t that useful and I’d rather use the site than the app. Plus every time you click on reviews, characters, and such, the app redirects you to the site instead which really loses the whole point of the app.

Needs a few things...
Needs a manga section for my page and just in general. There is no way to search manga on the app or on my page. On my page there isn’t even a manga section for my favorite manga or my list. Add this please!!! Also there is no way to write reviews on the app or look at the top anime or manga or characters or people. Add this too please!!! However, so far the app looks nice and I really like the interface and cleanliness of it. I also like how it notifies me of important information about the things I have on my lists. It keeps me up to date on things. If it just had those other things... If I could access everything the website has to offer on this app then it would be a easy 5 stars. I probably would even pay money to support it at that point, but right now it is just missing too many valuable things that can only be accessed via the website

I like the new update
This makes it extremely easy to keep track of all my stuff (you can look at other peoples reviews to see just how easy it makes it, it’s really good) but I had two complaints that I could think of. One was that there was no way to look at the history of the anime you’ve looked up, or see what the most recent stuff you’ve looked at is. This newest update solved that! Just like the imdb app you can look at the things you’ve searched up lately and look at them again. Before there were a few shows I lost because I forgot their name, but now that won’t be an issue. The second complaint is that while you can look at reviews, you can’t write them. It’s annoying to have to go on a computer every time I want to write a review, and I wish they would let us do it in the app.

Decent app but it redirects to the website far too much.
love mal and I'd never use anything else to track my anime and communicate with others but the mobile app definitely needs some improvements. really annoying how basically everything you do on the app past searching for anime, updating your progress and scores, and using the discussions redirects you to the website. you wanna look at the top rated or most popular lists? redirects to website, you wanna tap on the mangaka or animation studio to see what else they've made, or maybe look at similar recommendations, or even read reviews? redirects you to the website. would like to be able to do all these things in app, along with viewing friends lists and maybe a dm feature too. overall the app is good and I'm very satisfied with my experience on it, but with some added features it would be much better

Solid app, but features missing.
This app runs great with all of its current features, though things that are usually available on the MAL website are missing (which is presumed, but some in specific would really be helpful on mobile), the biggest one for me is searching for new anime by category/genre. We can currently search for new shows by Season in the app, though searching by genre is not available, which may actually be one of the most useful features on the entirety of MAL for people trying to find new anime. This app does allow us to do such a thing and access the full MAL website, but it pops up an external window, and the button to do this is hard to find which is inconvenient. Simply put, this is a good app; it runs decent, it just needs to be beefed up to be comparable to the full MAL website.

App is fine, HATE the notifications about "coveted one million club"
The functionality of the app is fine and works well. Being able to check and edit MAL on the fly is handy, especially when talking to people about anime and the ones I've seen, etc. The problem I have right now is that they're now sending out notifications for when animes gain 1 million members in their club. They do this for EVERY, SINGLE, ANIME, that joins the "coveted one million club." This happens regardless of if you follow the anime or not. I've gotten EIGHTY FIVE notifications about this over the last few days alone. EIGHT FIVE. I went into my notification settings in app to try and disable this, but none of the options listed describe this specific notification. Unless this is changed (fingers crossed), I may just have to disable notifications entirely because this is getting to be a bit much.

Good app, needs manga
I’ve been using the app for a month or two now because it seems more convenient then using the website at times. I will usually use it to update anime quickly or look for an anime. Although, not all anime show up in search. I think this is because they are explicit/Rx. But when I am in the most popular tabs or new anime I will see Rx anime. Not sure why they don’t let you search every anime. Most things bring you to the official my anime list website. It makes the app not really an app and more of a link. Manga is something that really needs to be added which would make it much better. The app is fine right now but would like for some more updates. It’s been months so i’m not sure why manga hasn’t been added.

Super happy that MAL finally has an app, but work is needed.
MyAnimeList finally has an app, something that me and many users of the site have wanted. The presentation and layout, as well as the main functions of the app work great. However, it is not without problems. A lot of parts, such as the “reviews” section of your profile, take you to the MyAnimeList website. Also, I’m still unable to write reviews on the site. So unfortunately, there are some problems, but in conclusion, the app works great and I feel it is better than using the site on mobile. Please listen to this feedback, MAL! Also, here’s a suggestion - please make searching things other than anime available in the search option. Please also consider making it so you can include/exclude genres from your searches! Thanks!

Near Perfect App, However…
I’ve been using MAL for years now, it’s very convenient and allows me to keep track of what I’ve watched and what I haven’t. However, I wish there was more functionality for Manga, sure you can find manga pretty easily by typing in the name of an anime series, but there is a LOT of good manga that don’t have anime adaptations, so I think it’d be great to have some sort of way to find manga, like a “most popular” or “adapted works of the season” tab. I’d just love a better way to find and keep track of manga since it’s also nice to keep track of it or find new popular manga but can’t because there is no function for doing that. Other than that, if you’re keeping track of anime, the app is perfect.

If MAL wants to, they can easily perfect this
It’s great for the most part, I do wish the interface was customizable, but that’s just preference. The one main issue I have is tags. Since MAL can only rate in single increments, If I want to rate something a 8.5 instead of a 9, I usually add that as a tag that shows up on the right hand side of that anime on my list. But, in the app, I havnt been able to figure out how to add tags/comments to an individual listing yet. Also, when looking at the page for an anime, it doesn’t show related anime like it does on the webpage. (ex. prequels and sequels) Besides that and a couple other quality of life changes, this could really go somewhere.

Coming back a new user
The new official MAL app is sleek & clean i’ve deleted my anime list long time ago & went to kitsu & my anilist app because I felt my anime list site was outdated. At that time I was using a 3rd party unofficial mal app which was a bit buggy. So i’ll give this new mal app a try just don’t like it when it directs you to the site through the web page at times. Also you can’t add manga but it’s not a big deal I have my anilist & kitsu apps for that. They are my two main apps to use as back up guess i’ll use my anime list as my third back up app. I wish we can import & transfer all my anime list over through the mal app but you can’t you still gotta use a computer for that.

Does what it’s for
Many, if not most, of the criticisms towards this app are based around the lack of features relative to the website. However, the app serves its purpose as an on-the-go app to keep track of anime/manga. There are some issues with the UI, but nothing big and it’s pretty straightforward as for how to add and edit things on your list. At least in my opinion, the MAL app was never meant to offer everything that the site did but was rather just meant to be a convenient way to work with what the site name suggests—one’s anime list. Edit: this last update keeps making the app crash on my phone though:(

Hooray!
I’m so happy that we’re finally getting a MAL app, it’s so much more convenient than trying to use the browser version on mobile. Unfortunately, however, there are a few downsides at the moment. I imagine these things are being worked on at the moment, but I’ll say them anyway. First of all, the elephant in the room is the lack of the manga list or being able to view the information pages for manga at all. For me, as an avid reader and collector of manga, this is a huge inconvenience and means I still have to use the browser version more often than not (although still less than before!). Second, and much less importantly but still worth noting, it appears you cannot edit or add rewatch progress or information on the mobile app. This isn’t a huge deal to me, but I thought it was worth mentioning! Overall, I’m super happy to see the platform become more accessible on mobile. Hopefully they’ll add the manga section soon, but seeing as this appears pretty new, it doesn’t really surprise me to not have it yet.

Solid (Room for Improvement)
The app does everything it can do great, though, it's limited. My suggestions for future updates consist of the following. Add copy and paste functionality to the app. It's tedious to type names of anime you're going to watch, especially when the names are long. Give the app more of the websites functionality so you're not taken to the website to do most things. I think this app improve greatly in time with updates since the app is fairly new. I didn't rate the app harshly because of this.

Minor changes would be amazing
Although this app is very nice there’s still many annoying things to it. First: why is there no option for seeing the English titles of each anime instead of the “original” name for the anime? It’s just kinda annoying. Second: when it comes to anime’s that have multiple seasons it’s very inconsistent on how I “list” them. It’s almost like I have to “list” different anime’s when it’s all the same show just different seasons. Go look up a show like “Naruto: Shippuden” then look up “That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime” and you’ll see what I mean. But overall it’s a great app!! And it’s far better then using apple notes to track.

Needs Bug Fix
I like the app and have been using it for a year or two now but recently a major bug has come up where the application will not open most of the time. It will just sit on the loading screen with “MyAnimeList” on the page and won’t open up to the regular home page. At first I thought my service was affecting it but I experienced the same issue on wifi in my home. Please fix as soon as possible as it rarely allows me to log on and do what I want to do.

Wow!
I have been using MyAnimelist for over a year ever since a friend recommended me this app it has made it so much easier to track anime I have finished watching, I watched but never finished, or an anime I dropped. Whenever your tracking anime to watch. You can also interact with forums asking about questions about a anime you watched though they can get pretty biased so I usually stay away from those. If you need something to track anime you watched this app makes it easier and I highly recommend it.

Fails to update my changes
The major flaw of this app is it fails to update my changes. I try to track each episode as I watch them and almost inevitably the next time I go in to update my watch history the last few weeks of changes disappeared showing missed episodes, missing show ratings, and more, and I have to go back and update them again. Also, each show is missing some info. It’s a huge hassle in particular when I want to hire what TIME a show airs, or if I want to update my rewatch history. I have to somehow open the web version of MAL to view those.

Off to a Great Start
Always a pleasure to see design principles followed when it comes to app development. Acknowledging that the app is still in infancy, what we currently have provides some vital search and list functionality in a lightweight package. Those worried about the limited functionality at present won’t need to wait long, the approach being taken lends itself to quick turnaround. Considering the current climate with the pandemic, this is a pretty huge accomplishment for the MAL development team. Kudos all around. Big fan of the UI and layout.

Beyond awful.
I have the newest phone with the newest os and plenty of space. App consistently takes over a minute just to boot. Constantly throwing random error codes. They’ve done nothing to solve the issue. And to add to that half of the content on the website isn’t even visible on the app. This app is the most poorly optimized, slow running, literal pile of garbage I have ever laid my eyes on. You couldn’t make a worse app if you tried. It would be nice if you could just stay logged in on your browser and use that instead, but they automatically sign you out anyway. Honestly would almost be better off listing everything you’ve watched/read in an excel sheet.

Other People’s Reviews
I genuinely think that this app is a pretty good app, there is just one thing that I think would make this app skyrocket its popularity. Make it so that you can reply to someone’s review. That would make me give this app a 5 stars. I don’t really care if the person who made the review gets a notification that someone replied to there thing I just want this to happen. I feel like the a anime would have a better score too so that more people would watch/read that thing.

Great start, needs a lot of work
[EDIT] The newest update to the app was great and warrants an increase in rating because they finally updated the list functionality. Manga lists are usable now and they finally added sorting. Much much better now for updating your list quickly or looking up anime. A lot of functionality still isn’t finished but the app is getting a lot better. Increasing from a 2 star review to 4 stars, just needs a few more features to be perfect

good but needs work
i can tell they will add these things in the future(hopefully) so it still gets 4 stars. 1. when you click on a studio or anything it redirects you to the website, would be great to have these in app features in the future 2. No manga lists, unless I am blind you can’t change you manga list or view manga in the app. Again, you gotta use the website. 3. The home page is like a notification menu which makes it much harder to navigate, and would be cool to maybe like rebuild the website front page on here. But i really like the clean ui when editing shows and adding to your list. also the seasonal archive UI is amazing, i didn’t even know you could do that on the website(if you can), and here it is so clean. Overall i hope it can improve in the future, for now it’s a convenient way to quickly edit my list.

I’ll give it a 4 star because…
A 4 star because all the anime on my list is there witch is good but not all anime’s are there on the app. I told a friend about it and he found it on the website of MyAnimeList so I check it out and I find the missing anime’s there’s which I’m happy about but when I see on my list on the app I don’t see them. Would be so happy if you can fix this and show all anime’s when you write there names in the app. Other than that I don’t have any other complaints about the app. Good job 👍🏼

Great App but Lacks Advanced Filter
3 stars for lack of filtering content. This app would be great if it had a global filter that allowed for a minimum members, score, members who’ve rated the show and the ability to filter by genre and sub genre. It would also be great to be able to filter out ecchi, H content and similar content that some might be uncomfortable with. It would be cool to filter out shows that are already being watched or have been completed. Another great thing would be to allow users to tag anime with unique tags such as “wholesome” or “inspiring”. Which could also be used when filtering. If this poses to be an issue maybe people could vote on the tag and if it gets enough votes then the tag will get applied. It would also be nice to be able to see what streaming services a show is available on and what day and time it broadcasts easily in the app.

Glad to have it, a long ways from perfect
I am glad to have this app as some sort of alternative to using a web browser or simply using notes to keep track of my list when I am away from my computer. There are lots of things people have already suggested, such as manga lists, sorting capabilities, more search results (characters, users, ect.), and less actions that open a browser (forum discussions, news, etc.) I am looking forward to progress in the future.

Frustrating UX
I have a few gripes with this app, though I will try my best to remain constructive for the dev team: 1. I just downloaded it, and it keeps freezing/crashing. Not quite sure what goes wrong there. Very clunky to browse. 2. It doesn’t have the option to set my preference to show English titles by default. I know I’ve watched a lot of anime and read a bit of manga, but I’m only really comfortably familiar with English titles. The option to provide more accessibility for those suffering a language barrier would be nice. 3. There is no way a scroll wheel is the best way to indicate progress in this app. I had to scroll right just to rate the titles? And keep scrolling right just to show my episode progress? That MAY be passable for 12 episode titles… but IT TOOK 4 MINUTES for me just to list my progress with One Piece. And there are other hefty titles out there too. Please consider alternative options here to get the same job done. Hope this feedback helps

Pointless
As I was trying to decide whether to download this or not I was reading reviews from a year ago saying how this it was a “great start” but complaining about the lack of functionality. I decided to give it a go assuming some of that would’ve been resolved, but that was my mistake. This is a very basic app, I’ll probably keep it because it does make it easier to add anime to my list but not much else. Probably best to just keep a tab open with the website if you need to do more.

Good app but needs some improvements
I find the app much more convenient then opening up my laptop and going on the website. The app is pretty simple to use I’ve been more frequently using MAL with the app. My complaint is that I can’t find certain content on the app that I can find on the website. I can’t find the Citrus manga on the app, but I have it on my list on the website, it doesn’t appear on my list in the app.

A Dang Shame
I love your website and all the features you all add but as for the app that does not excuse the poor optimization, EXPECIALLY WITH THE ADS. Every ad I scroll past makes the app slower and my phone hotter. I also request one feature: When you press the add to list button and it goes too the rating screen. The dates for started and stopped; I’m very glad you added the start and end dates for the anime there but I would like if I could just tap a button like the ‘Today’ button to easily say “I watched when it came out to when it stopped”

Great app….needs manga updating
I’m truly impressed with the UI in this app. Wish there was a way to better access the forums on the app, but otherwise not bad. It’s not like I was a huge fan of the MAL users and their toxic convos anyway! 😂😂😂 What really prevents me from giving 5 stars is the manga addition! I want a way to conveniently update my ongoing novel and manga reading without having to go into the mobile site all the time. You know how frustrating that can be? All I need is that, and you’re getting 5 stars all the way!!!

Potential
Being totally honest, it drives me nuts that we can’t search by genre. I like to browse and the app is completely lacking comprehensive filters, making the search engine frustrating. Even doing something where users can tag shows themselves similar to the ranking to show genre. The website is a lot better than this. I often have both pulled up because the app is too limited. I do like the chats though. it really just needs to be updated!

Love but one major issue
I was pretty much one of the first people to get the app when it was announced on MAL’s site. Have used this app since October and I’ve recently have a major issue: the app when I try to add anime it keeps saying that it has a parsing error. I’ve tried to delete the app and reinstall it, but it still doesn’t solve the parsing error. Please do something about it.

Repeated Notifications
I have been getting the same notification stating: “Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2 is now the #5 highest rated anime of all time, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Ultra Romantic falls one place.” This has been happening randomly at random times of the day for the past few weeks, sometimes it even happens 2-3 times a day and it’s ridiculous. I’m tired of checking my phone just for it to be the same notification I’ve read probably 100 times already. Please fix this issue.

Great but can be improved
I love using the website but there are some features that aren’t available on the app. On my website I put a lot of info like the dates I watched and ratings (which this has) but I also write a bunch on my comments sections for each show on the website so it would be great to also have that on the app and the count for the amount of days watched as well

Huge improvements on the last update
This app has been pretty incomplete with having mostly only functions related to the “anime” side of MAL. But last update has included manga search and the manga list. This is a huge improvement for the app. It still depends on the browser version for some stuff but is definitely getting better!

Great app
It’s really easy to find the specific anime you are looking for and I appreciate that they add an age rating to each anime, I do think it would be a good addition for them to add a reason for that rating, like adding whether an anime has an R rating because of gore or because of nudity and those types of specifics. But this is an overall great app and it’s made watching anime much easier for me.

Great start!
Was very excited to see an app finally in the works and understand it’s still in its base form, so lots of updates and potential to come! Really like how the homepage links simply redirect you to the MAL main page on the website. Think the UI of updating my watch list is very simple and makes it a lot easier when quickly going in to update what I have seen. Cannot wait for the future updates (list searches, dark mode, etc)

Several years passed, disappointingly little progress
Still no native iPad support, still forced into a poorly scaled portrait only experience. Great for manually updating your list while watching on a device that doesn’t support sync, a massively degraded experience for everything else. Still kicks you to the web version for most functions. All that premium money and this is the best you can do? Big companies ruin everything as usual.

Much better than I was expecting!
Usually companion apps tend to be rushed, buggy, and ugly, but this app does not fall into that pattern! It is fast, awesome to look at, and it feels like I can do everything on the website on the app as well. Not only that, the devs went above and beyond to include review statistic graphs and other QOL features. Also it’s way faster than the IMDb app 😅
