Hi, I use iPad Pro. This app on iPad Pro has a problem that the previous video keeps running, when I reopen the app, and I cannot stop it. And in that situation, if I start another video in the app, then it’s getting worse, because the sound of the two videos are mixed up, even though the video on the screen is the new one. So to stop this problem, I had to totally restart the app. (removing from the current using app and start the app again) This kind a problem didn’t occur in my previous iPad and my iPhone. Hope this error can be fixed ASAP.
Recent update broke many things/update: much improved
Update: Apple TV app was updated today and it fixed 95% of the previous issues. Picture quality has been significantly improved. No more crashing or hanging issue. Play/pause button for Apple TV works 60% of the times. Scrubbing to fast forward or rewind fast still doesn’t work. But this update improved the app significantly. iPhone app almost has no issues but, this review is solely for Apple TV app. Recent update looks nice. But that’s about it. Most of the issues has to do with Apple TV app. Picture quality is somehow pretty terrible now. It’s so dark that I have to crank up brightness and contrast to the max on my tv. Then I go to a different streaming app and it way too bright. Picture seem blurry. Play/pause function on my Apple TV remote doesn’t work anymore. Keeps crashing or won’t load with constant server outage. Haven’t had buffering issue like some others experienced tho.
First time leaving an app review simply out frustration with OnDemandKorea. I am a Premium subscriber primarily so my parents can enjoy Korean content on their AppleTV. The current version 2.0.1 of the app is almost unusable and frustrating to use on the AppleTV. When I wrote to address my concerns they simply asked for patience because the app is in beta. But the issues go beyond a few bugs. It seems like they just ported over their touch screen interface into the Apple TV app. Is there an explanation why the play/pause button on my remote is not working at all with their app? OnDemandKorea Korea is an app designed to be used exclusively to play and deliver video content on streaming hardware designed for playback of video content, correct? How can a company release an app update where the play/pause button does not work, something that works on every other app? The absolute most basic function to play and pause media does not function properly. It is a reflection of other major issues including; the fact that it takes in excess of 20 seconds for the Home Screen to load, or the back function on the remote does not function. But it is also a reflection about ODK’s disregard for their customers to release such a poor product with terrible quality control. Software that can not even perform the most basic functions with its primary hardware interface is more than an “inconvenience.” It’s a total failure.
One of my friends recommanded recent popular shows like i’m solo, divorced singles etc..from ondemandkorea app, but then, I started to watch “divorced singles 4” cause, it’s about finding the real love for “korean american”. After finishing the all episodes, and also found that ondemandkorea have past seasons divorced singles 3,2,1 (netflix doesn‘t have!!!) and now started season 3! even they have lots of k variety show, recently i’m really into the tv shows and k-movies!! Especially in dinner time I use live tv menu! (We don’t need to consider what to watch! Just watching with eating lol ) For me, I prefer to watch No-Ads content, I chose premium plan! (They have 3~4 options) they have personal profiles. Convenient to share a account with my husband !
The most recent update on Apple TVs has been a huge disappointment, notably click/toggle to rewind and fast forward. The app works fairly smoothly in iPhones, although the best interface for the Apple TV was for a good decade until the recent update sometime late 2022. The live TV option hardly works; the channels have froze multiple times or just blackout. The good movie options that were once updated every so often have all removed from the premium and went to Pay-Per-View. Many variety shows have been deleted or removed from the list such as Infinite Shows and many K-pop tv shows from M-Net are all removed. There are more Chinese and some Japanese TV/Movies added but many subscribers are paying to watch Korean shows. With Viki, Netflix taking up Korean streaming, ODK needs to to better - otherwise there is absolutely no incentive to stay subscribed.
I’m not sure if ODK is just not making any improvements for Chrome cast users but the experience has been worsening for users. Many movies don’t play with Chrome cast, I can’t move between episodes from the cast menu (need to locate the show from the app and choose one to play instead of being able to play next episode, which used to be automatic previously), and the app crashes if I hit “Channels” after casting their first channel, news, which has been annoying if I had another show casting and just wanted to browse other channels. On top of not having enough new shows to watch, I’ve had my premium plan to use casting, and from the experience, I don’t see a reason to keep it once my annual subscription ends. I’ve given the benefit of doubt and kept up with the updates, but the interface has been just getting worse with the ads on top and menus sometimes not showing.
Prior to this update the app worked just fine. But after I updated the app to the newest version 3 days ago the app became extremely glitchy. I’m seeing from the other reviewers that I’m not alone and the app itself is a problem. I reached out to the customer service rep and initially they were suspecting that my device had an issue but it’s the app. I’m a premium member and now I can’t even login as it keeps on saying my login is invalid and I can’t seem to get a password reset email to successfully log in. They tell me that I don’t have an account with them yet I just received an email, to the email address I used to sign up for premium account that as usual they’ll have a scheduled monthly payment coming out of my credit card. It’s been 3 days since this mishap and I still can’t use the app. Do not release an untested update. What a complete mess.
Don’t trust the haters on the reviews!! Best Drama APP💯💯💯💯
I buy this service for my 80yo mom who loves Korean TV and this is perfect! If you can read and understand Korean, then this channel has everything you are looking for. If you have problems use google translate. I can’t understand the low ratings! People who wrote it are whacked and can’t find their way out of a paper bag. Do yourself a favor and get this app, you get all the Korean news from different news sources and can watch all the shows actual South Koreans loves to watch. Heck, I watch it with her too! And my kids don’t even speak Korean. Keep up the great work ODK, we really love and appreciate you guys!
Shame on everyone who subscribe to this service. I quit my subscription after a couple years. I noticed the low quality in streaming and after the update, they inserted a popup ad which pops up every time the app starts. And some ads were inserted into the shows as if they were part of them. Update: 1/4/24 After my subscription ended, I was still able to watch the shows with frequent ad breaks. Ad breaks are about a minute each but some ads are very long. Although these ads are skippable, if you don’t press the skip button, it can go on forever. One of the longer ads I encountered several times included profanity. You can’t skip the part with profanity because it starts with the f bomb. I don’t mind it myself but I wouldn’t want my kids to watch that. I’m Korean and watching Korean show. Sometimes they play ads in Chinese.
I don’t usually write reviews but I wanted to write a review for this app since it’s one that my family would die without basically. Mom, dad, and I individually watch the shows that we want. We don’t need subtitles so I can imagine this wouldn’t be a great app if you need subtitles. I’ve never experienced any glitches. If there are glitches it’s very very rare and usually quickly solved. We just wait or turn the iPad on and off again. I love variety shows and my mom loves her mystery and documentary shows. If you enjoy watching dramas they don’t have a comprehensive library of dramas but I’m not a big drama watcher so ODK is perfect for my purposes.
This app has been my shelter ever since I move to US I don’t even find any site to access legal, full episodes of drama for free in Korea. They inserts ads into the contents but it is fine since it offers to watch full episodes for free I heard that there are several services offering Korean contents but many of them are illegal or limited content offering. I can’t find any other service which has this much scope of content library. Lucky to have this app! If they can make user watch contents in vertical way, it will be easier to navigate menus while watching contents
I love watching Korean variety shows which led me to OnDemandKorea. I haven’t looked back since the app is a treasure trove of entertainment, and the video quality is consistently great. You can watch “Baseball Monsters” for free on ODK. The same show titled as “A Clean Sweep” on Netflix you have to subscribe a membership. However, I’ve faced occasional lag in streaming, particularly when the servers are busy. The app even works on my old iPad Air Gen 2 that I can’t access most of the apps due to an old OS. OnDemandKorea remains my top choice for Korean variety content all day.
The shows are clear and good quality, and I had a question and emailed them about it and the response time was less than 20 minutes, they clearly answered my question and gave me further instructions on how to do what I was having trouble doing, and on top of that asked for my opinion. Clearly they care about the users’ concerns and try to fix any problems or concerns people have with the app the second they know about it. Not everything on there has English subtitles but a lot of it does and they are clear. There aren’t ads that interrupt the show. Very happy with them! ☺️
Great selection of shows but really annoying advertisements.
Update: The ad issue has been resolved. Thank you for listening to my concerns. Here’s your 5 stars! There are lots of shows for free which I like but the ads are so annoying. Especially the most recent “play game” ads. They’re 1 min long and you get 3 at a time with no skip function so you’re stuck with 3 minutes of boring ads. Please fix this and I’ll give you a 5 star rating. I shouldn’t be watching ads for longer than 1 and a half minutes.
I'm incredibly frustrated with the recent changes. 1. Almost every time I attempt to watch content on my TV, it loads agonizingly slowly. The interface is terrible, taking at least 30 seconds to a minute load. It's truly embarrassing that many of the features don't run smoothly. 2. The screen frequently goes black, and when I try to return to the homepage, it freezes, leaving me unable to access the home screen. 3. Live TV consistently freezes, making it difficult to navigate channels. There's a noticeable lag when switching between channels. Sometimes, it crashes in the middle of an episode, leaving the screen black. Clicking on the latest episode is also painfully slow, resulting in freezing that prevents me from accessing the episode. Fast forwarding rarely works and causes further freezing. 4. I'm disappointed with the content. What happened to all the newest dramas? It seems they are continually adding old content and a plethora of Chinese dramas. 5. While watching some dramas, the quality keeps fluctuating between HD and non-HD Please fix the problem!!!
My family and I love this app. My parents get their documentaries and news. I get the variety shows. They don't have all the shows and lately their newest drama selections have been lacking but the stuff they have are great quality. I recommend this for korean families who don't need subs. Only a some of their movies and dramas have subs so its not recommended for non-Koreans. I love that with the subscription there is no ads and I get to watch a lot of movies BUT there is a lot of glitches. It stops and start over sometimes. The search box won’t let me choose from my search results sometimes. And so on.
On demand korea forced you to download the app on smart tv without being ready to serve its customers. I’ve been a premium member for many years and this app has the worst UI with so many bugs. It crashes every half an hour and it’s so slow to load… also, it’s really hard to watch most recent episode as it’s really hard to find it. Plus, once you leave it on trying to rewind or rewatch the most recent episode, it automatically plays last year’s episode- meaning first episode from last year. Very very annoying and almost impossible to watch the recent episode for twice. You better find a replacement as app doesn’t serve it’s purpose. Not at all.
Overall I enjoy using this app on my phone and AppleTV. BUT there are a some big problems in my opinion. First at times the subtitles completely disappear. This can be very frustrating. Even when the app is restarted the issue persists. Second if I have a paying subscription there should be no ads on the iPhone app. For those with paid membership let us be able to search media according to the level of the subscription. Another issue I’ve noticed more on my AppleTV is that the app does terrible with keeping track of what you’ve watched. This includes the episode you are currently on in a drama or if a particular episode or movie was partially watched.
At first a lot of the shows had English subtitles but now a lot of the shows that say they have them stopped doing English subtitles on the episodes. False advertisement!!!!!!!!! I use to pay for the subscription but it was a waste of money because they stopped doing the English subtitles for this shows that they said were supposed to have English subtitles. I’m so disappointed because I really liked this app. I really hope that they improved because I want to continue to use this app. I still have a downloaded hoping that they will improve some day. But I will say still a good app if you want to watch older episodes of shows some of those have English subtitles
I work in tech and keep all my devices up to date. I use ondemandkorea every day and was happy to get the sale for ODK PLUS because the ads were overbearing and annoying. However, after purchasing the membership, I've noticed when I watch videos, it would pause and rewind to the beginning by itself. It would happen multiple times and would make me frustrated. There's a lot of glitches at times. I'm not sure if the glitches are caused by certain uploads by ODK because it doesn't happen to all videos but sometimes specific shows.
I have been a subscriber to ondemand korea for a few years now and used the app to chromecast to my tv. It is simple and works so I have no complaints. However it would be nice if I could mark my favorites so I wont have to search it everyday as the apps can freeze and sometimes be a trouble maker but no complaints so far! Wish they had tvn dramas and programs as they used to but I guess with tvn having their own tving broadcasting system it would be hard.
OnDemandKorea has been my trusted companion for Korean dramas for quite some time The content selection is unbeatable, and the subtitles are spot-on However, the app could use a more streamlined intro and recap skipping feature for those of us who enjoy binge-watching Additionally, it sometimes takes a while for new content to appear, which can be frustrating for those eagerly awaiting the latest releases Overall, OnDemandKorea is a fantastic app, but a few tweaks could make it even better
Mixed feelings about this app - good for catching up on your most popular, and recent Korean entertainment shows, but striving away from that, if you want to see the “less popular” news, human documentary, cooking shows, sometimes the videos play mid-way, or lose volume here and there. There was one where the order was not chronologically ordered, and developer did not notice for a week. If there was a similar app that maintained their popular but also less popular videos, I would switch over.
Gave it a one star review, but it seems like they corrected the issue. It seems to be working fine on my device now. ***** For one single commercial. Not multiple. It wouldn’t even let me skip after 15 seconds. Then, after enduring that ordeal, the screen freezes and wouldn’t play anymore. I enjoy watching K variety shows on this app, but the latest experience has been disappointing
I use this app a lot to watch Korean shows. However, I agree with the other reviewer that previous video keeps on playing when I play another video so the audio becomes duplicate. So I have to delete the app and download it again. Very annoying and bothersome. Also, you have to watch 3 ads for like 4-5 times per video, and sometimes they are all same ads so they get really annoying. Some ad songs are so annoying that I just mute it. I will watch ads since I use the free version, but same ads make me hate that product. Please fix the video playback bug.
I recently changed my iphone to newer version, mainly because I knew that on a newer iphone, the ads were skippinga and didnt bother much. but ODK upgraded this app, and even put the notice on main page on the app to skip the ads, it never does. I logged out and in several times, turned off and on, erase all network setting.. nothing works. I am a plus member of this app, but I am considering looking for other streaming site. does not worth what I pay monthly. There are several websites that are free. they DO include several pauses and ads, but it's free. ODK? same several ads, but paying monthly..
OnDemandKorea's introduction of the 'Family' plan has been such a pleasant surprise for us. As a family of four who already enjoyed the app, managing it was sometimes a bit tricky. Now, with this new plan allowing individual profiles and simultaneous streaming on four devices, it's made everything so much smoother in our home. We truly appreciate this thoughtful update!
I love Korean movies and they have great selections of drama and movies which I like but sadly, almost all the new drama has no English subtitles and all my favorite Korean movies which I wanted to watch has no eng subtitles like Classic and A Moment to remember. Other missing feature which will be useful is bookmark to watch later, maybe ratings and allow me to share with friends. I hope to can add English subtitles to the great collection and will renew again.
- Needs to show most recent shows/newly released videos on front page somehow so I don’t have to go guessing which episodes are new. App mostly shows most popular shows for each section not necessarily the most recently released content for that particular day. At the moment the mobile app doesnt do that. You can only go to a section and filter by ‘newest’. - Back button is hard to see sometimes since it’s on top of the video, esp against a white backdrop video. Would be difficult for older people to see. - would like to see suggestive search when typing stuff in the searchbar. - a way to see how many devices are concurrently connected in the account settings. This is all for now. Haven’t used it extensively, but the first point I mentioned is a feature that should already exist.
OnDemandKorea has always been our go-to app for Korean shows, and the 'Family' plan has made it even better. With four profiles and the ability to use four devices at once, it's perfect for our family. We can now each have our own favorites and enjoy them without any scheduling conflicts. OnDemandKorea, you've won our hearts!
I don’t do reviews often, especially the negative one. But ever since I work in tech environments, reviews have become one of the key components to develop better products which lead to better service in order to enhance greater value for users. ODK App updated might show some ‘side effects’ like every new app versions but overall the elegance & playfulness are pretty right up there. Keep going 👍🏼!!!
I’ve been using this app for a while and during that time I loved it had many shows that I wanted to watch that weren’t on other apps but were on this one. Recently though the subs have stopped working completely the app doesn’t even show the box that allowed for the subtitles to turn on and no matter how hard I try there’s no way I can turn them on. I hope this issue is fixed soon.
Ridiculous Price Hike, Still NO iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd Gen) Support!
Like everyone says, this PRICE HIKE of +50% from PLUS to PREMIUM is unbelievable. I had the PLUS membership which had some limitations but was perfectly fine. Now, the PLUS membership is USELESS and FORCES you to subscribe to the PREMIUM. Fine, whatever. I’ll subscribe for now until my guests leave, then I’m no longer using this service. But the most unacceptable is the fact that this app STILL DOES NOT SUPPORT iPAD 12.9” 3rd GEN SCREENS. I still have this disgusting black border on the perimeter of the screen. Almost all my apps have finally adjusted, but ODK is pretty much the only one that is still behind. Really DISAPPOINTING.
Best thing out there right now for Koreans to watch Korean shows. Wish 서유기 was on here. That would give it 6 stars. If you’re not Korean, and/or don’t understand Korean, another app might work better for you. I can’t stand Viki or anything else cause I don’t need the subtitles, and English support just makes it more clunky for me. Each to it’s own… 한국분들은 이것보다 더 좋은걸 현재 찾을수 없을겁니다.
Honestly hate this app cuz so many glitches. I can barely watch one video a day because it either freezes up, something goes wrong with the sound, or the back button (to go back to the list of videos) doesn't appear. So useless until someone fixes these glitches because I can go on so many other sites on the internet to find the videos I want to watch. So many faster ways to watch it than this basically. Only giving it two stars because if they fix the glitches, it would be a good and reliable app, like netflix, to watch my favorite shows on.
Used to have such a great selection of Kdramas and K variety shows, but now the selection is so limited and ongoing current variety shows are incomplete. Only episodes from 2024 onwards available, episodes before 2024 are removed suddenly. This makes the user experience terrible. We can’t even binge watch shows when the first half of the episodes are missing. With stronger competitors like Netflix and Viki in the market, don’t think ODK can last the test of time at the rate you’re making your brand unwatchable.
This app is on the lower spectrum of Okay. I wouldn’t recommend this app being the only way to get your Korean “fix”. Once when I use English subtitles on a drama, the subtitles from the last episode played over the next episodes subtitles. Leaving me with no way to understand the current happenings, and also when using the filter to find show that have English subtitles doesn’t work. I choose a show and the subtitles don’t show. I like to keep this app because it has chrome cast. Things must be fixed
OnDemandKorea has been my K-drama companion for years, and it’s been quite a journey. The variety and quality of content library is a gem, but APP’s occasional instability such as loading delays can sometimes be frustrating. The APP has great customer support tho that despite the cons, I keep coming back. Fingers crossed for improved stability!
At first you could watch variety shows and dramas for free, just had to wait through the commercials throughout. Now they locked all new episodes that aired over the past month only to subscribers. Please download a different app as this is no longer worth having, unless you pay and subscribe.
Read your response and I don’t see any connection between chrome cast functionality update due to licensing issue and getting rid of the airplay mode since I still can watch all the shows from my tiny screen. If it’s truly licensing issue, I shouldn’t be able to access any contents you have. Therefore your reason doesn’t make sense for the issue I raised here. That’s so petty of you for prohibiting users to play the app though AirPlay.
When I fast forwarded the video using the 10sec button or to drag the timeline, it freeze. I have to close the video and reopen it to work. Another issue is that they have changed the design completed which the users have to relearn it. Elderly people like our parents were so confused and I bet a lot of users age is a bit higher for this app. The only complement is that now I can browse another app while watching the video on a smaller window
Recent update is making app glitchy and also running ads.
I am a premium subscription member. Before this recent update, I didn’t have to deal with those annoying ads. Why am I paying over 100 dollars per year and have to put up with these ads now.? And I can’t even fast forward or go rewind using the slide bars anymore either. The app was running so much better with the previous version. I am so upset about the ads.
Update 11/4 New update which was released today for Apple TV still has no logic behind “Today’s Updates” section. How do people watch that day’s drama or tv shows if the “today’s update” has no latest shows??? Okay in PC you can try to go to tv show > drama, then sort it my most recent update, but Apple TV and app doesn’t have SORTING !!! So if it’s not a popular show or drama, you would have to scroll down to just find the show then go in to access the latest episode! Tell the developers to have a correct logic behind what’s Latest section!!!! What’s latest SHOULD NOT have shows from a week old that’s been modified recently for some reason! Slower than old UI, then crashes on the Home Screen. No consideration of UX of existing customers. Cannot find latest episodes anymore. What’s new section is incorrect.
I’ve been an ODK premium user for years now and up until recently it’s been great. But lately in the last couple weeks the streaming quality has been awful. Every minute or so the stream randomly locks up and starts buffering and won’t unfreeze unless I use the fast forward button. Can barely get through an episode without it freezing up 30 times.
I have been using OnDemandKorea for years. The videos are streaming smoothly with high quality definition. The app is easy to use and navigate. The new addition of the subscription is a fantastic move for users to manage their plans. Keep up the great work!
I’m a Premium user and the app isn’t bad at all as these reviews make it seem like. Sure, it may have been buggy at first but they fixed the bugs and it’s working fine now! I love the new UI and I really it’s gotten a lot prettier and more convenient to use!
I enjoyed watching Ondemandkorea. It worked just fine until they updated to a new version and it is so bad. My screen is constantly blank. Even though I have Wi-Fi connection nothing shows on the screen and if I get lucky to get a show to watch when I pause and go back it starts from the beginning of the show. Last version stayed where I stopped watching. I don’t understand why they even bother to update a version that was perfectly working. I hate it now.
This app is great and has many Korean tv shows and dramas. The only problem is that every time I open the app and try to watch a variety show or drama it freezes. It won’t let me pause the video, go to full screen or switch to a different episode. The video keeps playing and I always exit the app and restart it. Please fix this problem! Thank you!!
Many old episodes have been delete and they only left a very few of the recent episodes for some shows like “I live alone” so now you can’t watch the older episodes from like 2 years ago on some shows. I guess it could be a major bug but it won’t show up on my phone, laptop, or tv. Which I used this app because I could see many shows and there were many older episodes as well which is a big disappointment for me
We were promised three extra months free upon renewal, was told it was impossible after the fact they promised. Gave us an attitude instead, stay away prices have gone up paid about 85 same time last year during a sale, it is 140 now with the sale. Ads slowing down viewing experience on premium where it states no ads, tough times/shrink flation does not mean you should charge a crap ton more while quality of service is basically going down the crapper.
