Good, could be better.
Hello. This is good, but its not just there yet. I understand that the other parts of pixilart on the website are not yet done being added to the app, so I have no taken off any stars for those. However, it seems that the search typing does not work on my iPad. I use a keyboard connected to my iPad and it yielded no results, nor did using the on-screen keyboard. Also, by ‘no results’, I mean that when I typed, no letters showed up in the bar as being typed whatsoever. However, there are definitely some things that are quite big improvements from the website, such as the way it saves the drawings so one can work on them at any time and have multiple in the process of being made, as well as the fact that the strange reload bug the site has is not present on the app. By the way, the reload thing I am referring to is when the site will randomly reload without any reason/user input and you end up losing all of the work you had done unless you had already uploaded the image to be able to edit it later on. This save feature is better because it also makes the need to upload so you can edit it later on not ever needed to be done. One final thing is that when pressing the back arrow to get to the home page, its confusing where you are, and you click back and still don’t always know how many things you opened through expanding posts. But that is less of an app issue, more of a user issue that is generally unavoidable.

Fun, but…
I personally like using it. It’s very easy to draw, do details, and I’m having a lot of fun with it. I love the daily challenges, because it’s a good place to get some inspiration. On top of that, there are people in the community that have posted tutorials, so its very beginner friendly. HOWEVER, it seems to be run by just one guy. It isn’t buggy or anything, but for things like the Staff Picks, it’s very biased since it’s just the one guy. If you don’t care about your art being seen and just want to create cool stuff, then it doesn’t matter. On a smaller note, pixel in Pixilart is spelled wrong. This is probably because the domain name Pixelart (since this is also a website) was already taken, so the creator misspelled it on purpose. Either way, still kinda bothere me.

***I HAVE RATED THIS 5 STARS SO IT WILL SHOW UP NEAR THE TOP*** Okay yeah it’s a good app and you can upload photos and it has social media functions on top of being an actual pixel art creator… but it also has all of the issues of an actual social media app. It is legit like Twitter but with more art. So dead. And Bryan/Terphic (the moderator) is actually almost a dictator on here; he runs the entire site and only likes anime girl images and therefore those are almost the only ones that get staff picks and therefore any popularity. It is also IN THE TOS that Bryan can take credit for the work of anyone who uploads pixel art on the app and profit off it, just if you use the app. Most of the users on the app are minors and cannot be paid for their work except if directly for commissions, which some facilitate on the app. The drama is a lot. This is legitimately a social media app, with some people literally doing ERPs on the site, so please exercise caution… This app is rated 9+, but due to the content on the app that comes with the social media features, it should be rated closer to 13+

You can use it, but I hate it.
Originally 2 star, but now 3. I love the pixilart website, but the drawing on this and the limited palette infuriate me. Only essentials are on this app, which is fine, but it’s hard to get actual line work done. Even zoomed in I can’t draw. When I read bad reviews, I thought it couldn’t be that bad, but it was. I just found out how to draw well but it’s sort of hard to figure out. Not really but still. Still unintuitive. Also don’t know if or how you can copy, paste, rotate, flip, or cut selected parts of the canvas. Seems like there’s a limit to how much you can select. This app is now getting one star. Shading is also limited by a lot because of the limited palette. But the preset works well enough. They tried to streamline this app, but now it’s way more limited and there’s much more of a learning curve, but without the mastery. There’s no eye dropper, which I use constantly on desktop. I think I’ll give this 2 stars, but only because I realized that the way that I draw solves more problems than it causes. Suggestion: on calculator for iOS in landscape mode you gain access to more options. You could do that for this app. P.S: This review is cluttered because I wrote it in increments. The selection tool doesn’t have a size limit but it is confusing at first.

Pretty Dissapointing Compared to the Website
This app alone is fine, you have basic tools, brush, eraser, layers, etc. It’s not anything special/new, but it’s what i expect from a free app. However, compared to the website it’s a pretty poor quality drawing app. A big issue i had was that you can’t size your canvas over 100x100 pixels. On the website, you can go up to 500x500. I also couldn’t find a way to decrease the opacity of a layer without the onion skinning on. I got the app because the website’s saving settings were very odd and sometimes the save button would just disappear, so I would use an alternative method and it would reload the page and delete my drawing. Luckily, I could put my drawing in through screenshots I took of my drawing. This wasn’t an option with the app, but that’s not a big issue because i can always just copy it using alternative methods, but it would be nice if that could be incorporated into the app. Overall, it’s exactly what you expect from a free app, but compared to the website it’s not nearly as good. I do highly recommend the website though, aside from the saving issues.

Good but some things..
I’ve been using the website version of pixilart for a long time. It’s great, and with the mobile app it’s so convenient now to create my work whenever and wherever I am. I think the biggest issue I have is sometime it would crash while I’m working, deleting my progress since the last save. Also, another major issue I think is the community on the website itself. Not that it’s something they can fix really, but it can be very toxic and it’s a bit odd considering how young most of the users are. I think there should be more monitors or something to help with some of these conversations people are having on here.. otherwise, the drawing / posting portion of the app is great. POTD seems a bit random to me as well, I don’t know how they judge work and decide, but I’ve definitely seen some not so great pieces get it but amazing pieces not..

It’s a great idea, but there’s a couple flaws making it difficult to use the app.
I’m really glad they made an app for pixilart (i lost interest in the website before because it was to inconvenient to go to computer every day and draw) but there are some issues with it. first off, canvas sizes. The biggest canvas size you can get in this app is 64 by 64. I understand for a lot of people that might be fine, but I do detailed illustrations, so the limit in canvas size makes it impossible to do so. Second off, colors. It’s so hard to select the desired colors, a color wheel would be greatly appreciated. The last thing is zooming. I can kind of forgive this one because there is a zoom in and out button. But it’s still really difficult to zoom in and out of a specific are of the canvas, and would be better if you could just zoom in and out with two fingers. Besides that the app is a good idea and would be very convenient for on the go if it didn’t have these problems.

Good art program but basically a dictatorship
Pixilart is good for drawing, it has good tools and such. Basically a smaller canvas version of any other art program. The problem with it is how it works. Bryan, the creator of Pixilart, has total say over what gets seen on the platform. There’s a system of “highlighted,” “staff pick,” and “picture of the day,” and if you don’t get selected for any of those your art will hardly get seen by anyone. And Bryan is the only person controlling ALL of those. Bryan only likes a very specific type of art- Anime girls, a very specific type of landscapes, and the occasional animation. Anything else, no matter how much the community begs for it to be selected, will be overlooked by Bryan. TL;DR: Bryan is the king of Pixilart and he has bad taste and if you want your art to be seen don’t go on Pixilart.

A lovely concept, but could do with a few improvements
Drawing on my phone is worlds better than using a mouse. However, the color system makes it very hard to choose colors correctly. I would weep with joy if we could please get a color wheel?? It’s what I’m used to using when I use cool colors for shadows and warm colors for lighting, and without this tool it’s extremely difficult to find the colors I need. To circumvent this problem, I set up some color schemes on my computer and then tried to edit the picture in the app. Unfortunately, it turns out that wasn’t an option. I really like Pixilart, it’s invaluable for sprite making, but if you could give us a color wheel or something similar I’d be forever greatful. Ps: I’d also love to be able to edit the canvas settings myself?!? I can’t quite get the pixels to the size I prefer with the preset ones and it’s frustrating. Thank you!!

CREATORS PLS TAKE ME INTO CONSIDERATION
Guys up in H.Q. . I am a very big artist on your app, but I really NEED one thing. Please please PLEASE... make it a thing to import photos from camera roll into your board, in the app. I’m saying, like I want to post something from ibis paint, and it’s in my camera roll, but I can’t do that because there’s no possible way of doing it in the app. So then I have to go online to post it, and it’s a little more time consuming (because my tablet lags like crazy), and I’m pretty sure a lot of others feel the same way. So I’m kindly reaching out, please make it a thing to be able to post photos from your camera roll to your board, in the app. That is all I request, and I know you guys can make it happen. Thank you very much!!!

ok so ive been on pixilart 4 forEver but this is my first time reviewing the app. love pixilart. community rocks and the desktop website drawing tool is super awesome. the app needs work tho???? it wont let you comment on or post photoes. replying to comments is gliTchy af. it wont let you sort somebodys profile by photos. and dont even get me started on the drawing tool. no paint tool. no size adjuster. no lAyers. they totally could have added all of these but a fourth of the screen is taken up by the words D R A W that do absolutely nothing. i can draw an orange and thats about it. thanks, you guys. i would have given it much less stars but im sure a lot of ppl reviewed poorly bc of getting muted and not being sure why (dont draw pps and youll b fine kids)

I love the app but..
Listen. I love this app so much. As an artist I love pixel art and digital art. This app is so fun to explore other’s art and their pages. I don’t feel that there’s anything to change except for one thing: zooming in. I absolutely hate how when you zoom in it doesn’t stay in one place. I feel like for mobile users like me that there should be an option to be able to use your fingers to zoom in or not. For more detail, when you press the magnify glass to zoom in, it zooms in. But then wherever you tap it zooms over to the spot you tapped. I wish you had freedom to be able to zoom in and move around whenever you desire. Apologies if this didn’t make much sense! Thanks.

I'm a veteran user and I love it
I've been on this app for a few years, and I absolutely love it. It is definitely the best website to share your pixel art and discover new users whose styles you love. I could not recommend this more. Also, there are sometimes competitions where you can win amazing prizes! They are sponsored by brands so you know where they get their money (not by selling your info or doing shady stuff). The competitions are free to enter and they are extremely fun :] That's only one small aspect of this amazing app, and I would suggest to at least give this app a shot for a little while and discover all the other amazing features it has in store. :]

Mobile is a nice touch. (2nd Review)
It’s been a couple of weeks after using this app, and I like it very much. I don’t have google on my phone, and safari is a pain to use. Although it would make the app better if links were added, along with posting photos and seeing comments via the home screen, it’s way easier to use and drawing can be fun as it forces many artists to focus on every little pixel (besides, that stuff is probably going to be added in the future). One problem I have is that you can’t block/unblock people on the app, and half of my comments are un-accessible probably because of it. Otherwise, this app is very welcoming, containing the same spirit it does on the site. Four stars.

This is awesome but needs some work
Here is a list of things that NEED to be in this 1. An eye dropper, why isn’t this already in here? Any app that has you draw or something has one of these. 2. It needs to have a way of duplicating your pictures the way it’s set up now makes no sense. You have to post your picture, and then go into edit picture, and then you have to go save the picture but saving it regularly doesn’t copy it for some reason. Another thing is if you try to save the picture while you’re editing, it will be all low res and look bad and then you have to go out of edit mode and then save it?! that makes no sense! 3. It needs some way to add photos into it I understand it may be hard because the picture isn’t pixelated or whatever but there should be some way to work around that, like making the picture pixelated in the app or making the picture just work as a background image that only shows up during edit mode but you should be able to use the eye dropper on the picture as well.

It Deleted my Drawing
Reposted this because my review wasn’t showing up. I worked for hours on a drawing and went to save it. I had an extra frame that was solid black because my drawing had some white on the edges I needed to see, and when I was done I deleted the extra frame. However, when I clicked to the play button, it showed the frame I’d deleted. I quickly pressed undo and it brought back the solid black frame, which I deleted again. I could still see the drawing, though, which was weird, so I restored both frames and went back to the title screen. When I returned to my drawing, it had deleted the drawing part and only kept the black frame. I normally don’t leave reviews, but I’m extremely upset right now because I didn’t get a chance to save it and I work really hard on it.

Why can’t it be like the computer?
I get how drawing would be hard on phone, but why can’t we reply to comments detector instead of making another separate comment that nobody wants to to see again again when they could just simply reply to a certain comment specifically. Make chatting easier and we would all be happy with this. Oh and when I check notifications, it would sometimes say “no details found” why? I don’t like going on safari a lot to get to the website so if we can’t draw better on this app, can u at least improve everything else? Pls? Thank u for listening.

Good but could use a few more tools
I really like how simplistic and easy to use this app is, however tools such as the eyedropper are sorely missing and make drawing a little agitating. When drawing an image there are only so many different colors you can use before the palette fills up and you lose the colors you used in the beginning of the drawing. That would not be so bad if an eyedropper tool was available to sample the colors you’ve already used instead of trying to pick it again in the color expansive color picker. So basically, please add the eyedropper tool!!!

disappointing...
I love this site. When I heard the mobile app was finally available, I downloaded it immediately. Got a request and decided to start on it this morning because I was excited that I could finally work on the go, only to find that the options panel covers all but three lines of the canvas and there isn't a color wheel like the site. Only about 3 of the colors are acceptable for skin tones and the inability to choose custom colors is a huge drawback. The color selection taking up most of the screen seems to be a glitch, but it looks like no one has found a way to fix it. Also, not being able to set your own canvas dimensions is irritating, but it can be worked around. Until these problems are fixed, the app is next to unusable.

It’s…. okay
Yeah, yeah, the app has basic functions, but it needs more. It needs the ability to rotate zoom when you’re drawing so people don’t need to flip their whole device over to get a better angle on something. There should also be a function to restore deleted artworks, because there’s so much people (including myself) who has accidentally deleted their artworks and couldn’t get it back, or accidentally refreshed the website/app and their 3+ hours of work vanishes. Sometimes the app lags when I make a portrait larger than 500x500, and sometimes nobody sees your art that you worked so hard on. Please add all of these features!

Add the stuff from the website version
First of all, no replying to comments, I find that somewhat inconvenient, because a reply chain takes up so much space on the app. Second, no palettes? Really? And you have to figure out every color yourself… Third, no comics, I really like the comics feature and I’m even making one, but if you’re on mobile, you gotta switch between apps to even view the comics, AND SO MANY OTHER THINGS. Anyway, it’s not too bad if you aren’t used to the website, but there can be lot of confusion because people talk about contests and you can’t find them because :0 THEY AREN’T ON MOBILE! Could be so great. Isn’t yet.

Simplistic but Limiting
I think the app is great in its simplicity. But the lack of colors makes it so there’s a very limited number of options for skin tone and shading. It’d also be nice if the app included more options for canvas size. If you could enter the numbers instead of having 5 square canvas options I think the app would be a lot more enjoyable. Also I seem to be having difficulties changing my profile picture in the app. I only seem to be able to use images from the browser version of Pixilart. Not even images I downloaded from the app itself work. Overall it’s a good app for pixel art but you can’t really do much.

Clunky and unpolished app
There’s more potential for this app; the controls are limited though and feel very unorthodox. Zooming is weird, and this app offers way fewer controls than the website. I want to be able to select my own colors, zoom smoothly, lighten/darken, settings for each tool like on the website, and use the touch screen to draw instead of the weird controls now. Also, my drawings don’t save, as I spent some time editing something, just for me to accidentally hit the button on the top left and all my progress was lost. There is a lot of potential for this app that the developers just missed, and I think there are a lot of improvements that can be made

really good, but needs updating
I really like the fact that this app creates a community specifically around pixel art! I’m trying to learn how to draw in the style, so it’s really nice to see other people making specifically pixel art. however, drawing on the app itself is a little difficult. The highest canvas size you can get atm is 64 x 64, which is a lot smaller than the canvas size I usually use. I’d love it if there was an option to put in your own size, instead of just preset ones. Also a color wheel would be really nice! But regardless, I’ll stick with this and keep up with the updates, hoping that these features will come soon. :)

Awesome!!
Really well made app and is useful when you don’t have access to the website. Creating art on it is fine, but definitely nothing compared to the website... Also I’m a little annoyed that you can’t reply to comments on the app, only create a new one. Also an update is needed for the watch feature, as it shows a preview for the drawing but not a link to it. it’s a really good app, don’t get me wrong, it just needs a couple updates :)

Good but a few problems.
Hello, I really like to app. The idea of it is very good, and I like that you can chat with other with similar interests. But, i have a problem. (They could just be my phone, but i am not sure) this problem is that I can’t give my art a title on mobile. It works just fine on my laptop, but not on my phone. If I give a name and save, it just says “untitled”. But anyway, this app is good. I don’t really like the way the draw controls, but that just my preference. Have nice day.

Not very good.
I play the pixilated link on my chrome book a while back until I figured out there was this app.. so I downloaded it and tried it out.. but there’s a bug or something, it won’t let me draw or anything.. all I can do is fill bucket. I’m not enjoying this game and I wish the color pallet thing were you could make your own color was there. Your only limited to a few colors. And the bases that you have when you first make a new picture don’t even work for me, I had a bad experience with this game, but I for sure will start playing the computer one again. I hope you can fix these bugs soon! Thanks. -hope you can fix it!

Needs some debugging
The only reason I give it a low rating is that it wouldn't even let me do anything. I opened the app, got straight into the drawing, but when I did, the colors were stretched upwards, and the control panel was covering everything, rendering the whole app useless. I opened and closed the app; same thing. Deleted it, re-downloaded it, multiple times even; same thing. I even went and turned my phone off and on again; same thing!! If this could be fixed, I would be ever so grateful. I love using the site, and I really had my hopes up for the app! I want to be able to try it out so bad! So, if you could try and fix it, that would be amazing.

Extremely buggy to the point it’s hard to use
My experience has been terrible with this app, I was happy to know it got a mobile version because I loved the desktop one, but this is horrible, it took a year for 1000x1000 canvas size to come out and when it did it made the app so incessantly buggy and laggy it’s hard to keep using, I can spend up to two hours on a piece then try to duplicate it and it just full on DELETE THE SAVE, if i didn’t download an earlier version I would’ve been screwed, and this is just one of dozens of extremely frequent and frustrating problems

Changes need to be made.
I went into this expecting it to be like the website. Personally, I think there needs to be some changes made. There needs to be a way to move the part of the drawing you’re looking at without moving the drawing. Maybe a different tool or something. There’s also no way to edit art you have already posted. There needs to be a custom color tool, not just pre picked colors. There also needs to be the little water dropper thingy that you use to choose a color you already have on the artwork as a tool. How come all these things are on the website, but not on the mobile app? I think us mobile users deserve some change. Thank you for your time.

Okay this is the best app I have ever played. I have only had it for a week and I am still getting used used to all the AMAZING features. I love the app but I don’t know how to follow people on the app or how to comment on other people’s pictures. Other than that this is the best app ever. I have tried other apps like this that are color by number that are hard to use. I like this app because you can use bases and use your own colors and you can do what ever you want on the app. 😀😀😀

The app is FAR too limited
I use a school IPad to do most of my Pixel Art, however, they blocked off the website for some stupid reason. So I downloaded the app as an alternative, and when I started it up, I found it to be WAY TOO LIMITED! You can only pick from certain canvas sizes from 8*8 to 100*100, and that makes it way too hard to make sprites with. It’s ridiculous color palette makes it so hard to work with, and the lack of a thermometer may lead to you having to start fresh when the color you need is deleted from the palette. If this is seen by the devs, you guys need to develop this site more thuroughly. It’s too painful to even use!

Where is the delete account button?
I cannot find the delete account button. There is only a deactivate account button. I want to DELETE my account. I don’t use this app anymore so I want my account gone forever. I would’ve rated this app highly if it weren’t for this. This app was fun but I hate you for only having a deactivate account button. You’re somehow more annoying than instagram in this area. I even looked online to see how to DELETE my account and everything says I can’t but I can deactivate. That’s not what I want! I want to permanently delete my account because I haven’t used this app in years! Is that so much to ask?

Better than using a mosue
I have used the website for a while, until stumbling upon the app. I used to use this app called DotPict, and the concept is the same; drag a mouse, and press Draw (or Dot before). It is easy and simple to use. I will start to use this over the website more often because of the ease of use. It is a better alternative than buying a whole drawing tablet (if you have a phone). Best go-to app for pixel art so far! :)

Pixilart is great, but have some problems
I love making art on the website, and download the app. When I play, it seem like it only have few of the color, and it don’t have the color wheel. It also seem like you can’t change the size of the pen. It is also pretty good it save also the unfinished art you made. I love making art even on phone. It is great, but it will be better if it can be more similar to the site.

It’s a great app and I love to just let loose and make art my only complaint if I had to have one is it’s super hard to do it on mobile Idk if they have support for it but just kind of difficult 🫥. But overall love the app and just is great! Would recommend even if you don’t like to make Pixilart you still can see others super cool art and do and see challenges!

not for kids…
yeah the 9+ rating is not accurate at all… I have seen several sexual posts on there, as well as just… gross (if you know what I mean) conversations that needed to be private. The filter on this app literally does nothing except filter cuss words (and even then… you can still type them if you use numbers and symbols) So yeah… at least like 13+ Also it it super hard to draw on the app! I cannot make quality art on it, website is much better. It also has a very toxic community, and is full of drama and that kind of stuff. Please be aware of all of this before you download the app

Could be better, but great for what it is!
It’s a free app, so I wasn’t expecting much, but it’s definitely fun to use, especially with the social platform it provides. There could be a few things added, like the ability to add colors or make the canvas bigger (things presented on the online version of the app), but it really is a good app, and I don’t feel that those things would be necessary to make it fun to use, they would simply enhance the already fun use of the app.

Dangerous Online Community for Children
This app should not be rated 9+ and should not be used by children. The online community allows children to accidentally start talking to strangers online and share more than just drawings. I’ve read several profiles of children on this site and it’s full of confused adolescents talking about sex and suicide and loneliness and these are not high school aged children. It’s very disturbing. If they removed the online features the app itself for drawing is not bad, but this endangers children and the rating is wrong. If you can talk to strangers and post pictures of yourself it should warrant an adult rating. Do not let your kid get this app.

Okay, but wouldn’t recommend
After half a month of using this application I’ve come across differing issues. The editing feature between the website and application is a handful. I tried to edit a work piece for a relative, but the option never appeared. Most recently, I found out that you can’t edit pieces when they’re marked as unlisted (referring to pieces you’re not read to showcase). Additionally, they would never appear in your gallery as normal, so if you don’t have the link to the piece, it’s close to gone.

Great app but...
I love the app, but it could still use improvement. For example mobile can’t use bases or edit anything that isn’t small. Loving the new update though, hope there are plenty more to come! Another problem is the app keeps slowing down, I click settings and it’s loading for 30 seconds. What is up with this? Also there instead of > or < it shows > can you get this fixed?

Decent as a browser app
It’s alright if I just want to look at stuff in Pixilart but I don’t really want to draw on it. I wish that we can make custom canvas size which was already implemented in the mobile website. However I like the cursor and button controls of this app which allows for much more precision since I use this on a small phone screen. Because of the control scheme and the ability to zoom where the cursor is, this app is just this close to being perfect in my opinion.

Why
The app is fine in every other aspect except the GIFs. For some reason after I’m on the review screen when I tap upload and the percentage (after a while) is at 100 percent. Well after that it ssus “uploading” but for some reason every time it resets it after a minute and so as a result, can’t upload GIFs. Maybe it’s because I’m on mobile, but please, FIX IT

Works well.
I’ve been on the site for a long time now, just got the app today and tested out a drawing. There are definitely things to be improved on, but it’s very much a quality way of participating when not near a computer. I recommend this to anyone who has an account on the site that they use regularly, maybe not so much for newcomers.

This app is really good!
There’s just one thing I would like for you guys to add. Could you add a color picker? For me it was hard to decide what colors to make my art and I ended up with many different colors so it got really hard to find my colors that I ended up with. But this app is amazing in my opinion

Animation problem
I decided making my first animation on this app and as I continued the layers kept glitching and connecting to the wrong layer that was on the second frame— The line art no longer lined up with the next frames line art causing the colors to overlay and ruin the whole thing unless I outlined ALL the colors in the lines. I do not recommend the animation aspect as much as I recommend the JUST art aspect, and it was extremely frustrating to see the frames and layers glitch away like that.

Pretty good, but bad at the same time.
It has good drawing potential, but I have a problem with changing my account. I may be stupid, but what the hell is a website URL? Why do I need it on my account? I am trying to change my account, I’ve been doing it for the past 7 minutes, but no matter what I do, it always says: ‘Invalid website URL’. Please, either fix this or just remove the Website section in the account editor completely.
