Sephora Customer Since 1998 when it opened in USA
I am a retired NYC based makeup artist. I was one of the people who trained the very first Sephora stores when they launched in the USA. Their app is the easiest and best and its just plain fun! I use it to preview what I want to check out in the stores in person. I use it to check out what all the other beauty lovers are reviewing. It is the best community of beauty product lovers simply because of the volume of prestige and new brands. If you are a makeup minimalist or only like skincare or clean beauty, you can find the best products here. Sephora corporate has done a great job evolving with the times and culture and trends since it began. They do all the editing for you since they are really working hard to find the newest trends. They give everybody a shot, from the luxe big brands to the young cool indie brands. The value sets and palettes are an awesome way to try a bunch of things and if anything is not your favorite, you can give it to a beauty product loving friend or someone struggling with money to try out. So nothing is wasted. I love that you can find a person who inspires you and check out their recommended products. I wish they had this when I was young! This tech only came later in my career. I had to learn the slow, old fashioned way by wasting a lot of money and falling for manipulative cosmetic sales people in department stores. Lol!

Better late then bad eyeliner
Amazing app love using it because I can use the app and a lot look up stuff on web browser also super easy to use makes it easier to find the free offers that go with your purchase. And shows me new things before they drop and come to the app 1st before going online gives me a chance to score new products before other people or know they are coming soon I love using the app. It’s so user friendly. Only complaint is when I want to look at Sephora on the web browser it redirects me to the app sometimes that fine but not when I already have something open I wish I could just use it when opening app but still 5 stars. I love that it suggest products I have viewed or hearted at the bottom so I don’t forget about them. It keeps me logged in so my items stay in my cart. If you don’t use the app you definitely should one of the things I love the most is if you are going down a list of products and click one when you go back it takes you to the spot you were in unlike the browns we where it sends you back to the top

Nothing but problems with this app!!
First off let me start off by saying I absolutely love Sephora and it’s my favorite makeup store! The original app layout was easy to navigate and get the hang of it. I never had a single problem with it and I loved shopping with the app! Which is why after only a few months on the app I became a consecutive yearly rouge beauty insider. For those of you not familiar with their lingo a rouge beauty insider is when you spend at least $1,000 dollars within a year you get top offers, discounts and receive free shipping on all your orders. I also became heavily reliant on their try it on live feature to try on products. However the new updated layout of the app is confusing and pretty frustrating/difficult to navigate/get used to. It has been at least a year or 2 already since it’s been updated and I still cannot get used to it. The try it on live feature hasn’t worked in over a year already which is extremely frustrating and disappointing. When you’re scrolling through shopping clicking on one item which leads you to the next on the app once you click on your cart you completely lose your shopping/search progress. You can’t get back to it unless you remembered the name of the company/product of the item you were last viewing. Which is why this year I’ve only spent $273 dollars.

BEST SHOPPING APP EVER!!!!
BEST SHOPPING APP EVER!!!! Everything I need and want is soooooo easy to order! This is is BEST online shopping experience I've ever had! Easy to mark FAVS and add and edit your cart...unlike the nightmare mazes some stores force you to crawl through when you want to get in and out. And if you have some time read, watch videos learn new techniques, styles and literally "wander and window shop!" It's that shopper friendly of a site! I can research and review innovative....or just plain fun....new products!! And keep my makeup tower well stocked with my all time ab-fab favorites!! And I LOVE ALL OF THE SAMPLES AND PROMOS/REWARDS for shopping!!! I feel like a kid in a candy store!! We all like to feel like we are getting a little fun something extra! And plz plz plz don't forget to watch the FREE tutorial/videos from professional makeup artists linked right from the sight. They are sooo much fun and valuable information considering they are professionals!!!! There is also a concierge number you can call for advice and or help. GREAT JOB SEPHORA!!!

Convenient but glitchy
I’ve used this app for years to shop online and overall it works very well. I love that I can save my products in a loves list and that it saves all my past purchases from both online and in store. The live chat feature is fun, I love answering questions and interacting with other girls who have similar interests. However it’s always been a bit glitchy for me. Every time I answer a question, it kicks me back to the top of the list so I have to scroll down every single time to see other questions. It’s always done this for me which is super annoying. It also has a tendency to suddenly zoom in while in the chat. I usually can double tap the screen and it will un-zoom but after the most recent update, that stopped working. Now I have to close the chat completely and re-enter for it to display normally. I wish they would fix these bugs to make it more enjoyable. I’ve also never been able to figure out the online community tab. It has never seemed very user friendly for someone who isn’t familiar with that part of the app.

Great app with minor complaints
Love the app. One of the best shopping apps generally. Two complaints, which is the 4 stars, is when looking for foundation or lip colors etc. you have to click the colored square without an option of seeing also or in lieu of the name of the color. For example, if you’re looking for a specific colored lipstick, you click through the squares of color to find the name. Searching the name of a specific color doesn’t always work. The second is sometimes the “try on” live, the color looks totally insane And not at all what it really looks like in person (because it looks truly. Crazy). Or, on the other hand, if you use a model,it’s very difficult to even see the product preview. For example, highlighter, eyeshadow or liner, and blush are really difficult to see. the existence of swatches and the try on option is great, I just wish it was tweaked a little. That definitely sets it apart from the Ulta app, which 9/10 doesn’t have any swatches in their product description. But the do let you filter by name. That’s it. Otherwise. Great app. Love Sephora!

Okay, but not great
App works decently well while in use. But it drives me nuts that if I switch apps even briefly, when I return to Sephora, my search/displayed item has been cleared and I’m back on the home page every time. That totally stinks for multitasking, which is all I’m ever doing on my phone. Also, I totally agree with another review which suggests better options for viewing the names of different product colors without having to click through each one. Similar issue in the review photos section: you are given the option to filter user photos based on the product color, but often only the color descriptions (I.e. “warm dusty rose”) are displayed here, not the actual color name. If the colors do not have descriptions, then no text is included and you’re forced to guess which color is which. There could be a lot more organization surrounding product colors in general; often I’m looking for something in a specific color family, so improved search/display features on that front would be helpful. Other than that, I haven’t had too many issues with crashes/glitches or functionality.

Sephora is a girls best friend!
I love Sephora, and the app! Always fast shipping, always great customer service when you do need them. Package lost in transit? They’ll send you a new package out ASAP with all the items your originally ordered! Not to mention the endless brands they have - always quick to have the latest and greatest in makeup, skincare, perfumes…everything! My favorite part is the Sephora rewards. Coupons you can earn with points gained - or you can keep saving and saving for the ultimate reward! - 10$ off every 500 points (believe me it doesn’t take long to hit that 500 mark) but you can also save to the next bracket of 1,000 for 20$ off…every 500 points. Birthday freebies. Free Trial samples upon check out- it’s just like the store…from home…with the app! (You know for the days you don’t wanna put on all the makeup you bought at Sephora just to go out and public to buy more 😜).

More useful than I thought
I shop Sephora frequently so the app made since. I do not like the search feature because you have to be sure of the spelling of the product to get the search results you want. Other sites will at least take a guess at what you are trying to look for. I do like it’s suggested product listings for me. I looked up collagen and found out through suggested products they sell all types of vitamins and supplements. These were Items I needed but did not think to find on their app. I love the account pull up where I can see history of purchases with pictures of products I bought. This makes it easy for me to go back and do a product review, a re-purchase, or price comparison. There is a like feature that saves items that you do not want to purchase now but would like to purchase at a later date. Returns are super easy thru the app but the customer reviews help me decide if I should or shouldn’t purchase something which prevents returns by proper research. The reviews are complete with each persons skin tone and skin description to find a relatable reviewer.

Easy to use, not as easy to trust
The app is very user friendly and comprehensive. It’s full of lots of special features but I mainly use it to shop and read product reviews. Unfortunately these days new products may have plenty of reviews—more than you’d expect at that point—but they’re all or almost all from people that have been given the product for free in exchange for feedback. For one thing, I see a lot of the exact same words/phrasing on many different products making the opinions feel like canned responses. Also, without knowing who is providing the product and for what reason/program it’s being provided by and what the relationship/role of the reviewer is to them, I can’t help but be skeptical and wonder if their glowing reviews are actually provided so as to obtain or “earn” more free products. Also, like another reviewer mentioned, I really hate that they removed the Q&A feature on each product’s description. That was often very helpful when the descriptions were too short and uninformative.

Cannot access “loves” list on app
I love Sephora. I mean, I am Rouge! So, I have shopped quite a bit. But I find the app frustrating because I looked and looked for the list of all of the items I have “loved” so that I could go back and buy them. Now, if you search “lists” on the app, it takes you back to the area of the app where your orders, buy it again, account, flash, reservations, Samples & Rewards,Beauty Advisor Recommendations, & Color IQ & Beauty Traits menus are listed. This same area can be found, when logged in, by clicking on your name at the bottom of any screen. But, when I’m in the mobile version of Sephora using Safari, I’m given the choice to see the Loves menu where my saved products are. However this menu is entirely missing from the Sephora app and I find this quite frustrating. It’s so much more convenient to be in the app but I constantly have to bounce back and forth just to access my saved loved items. Please correct this in the app! You are deterring sales! (And this is coming from someone who works in eCommerce/product Content for fast fashion. Retailer)

The Worst
Love Sephora DESPISE the app can’t write a review because I literally can’t see after the first two sentences what it is I’m typing smh. I constantly have issues it always says since I did the new download there’s an issue and this happens at checkout so I can’t even checkout lol I can’t buy nothing 🤣 isn’t that something ?! I use PayPal as a safe checkout alternative and the other day I bought one thing using PayPal I decided I wanted something else as well went back to the app to buy the other and it says “Error Sephora Error 1.) “ I’ve been trying to make a purchase for the past 4 days and same “Error” why did I decide to download the new upgrade right after my first purchase went through fine as it always has smh 🤦‍♀️ so upsetting! The other issues on the app weren’t half as bad as these new ones!; I don’t mind signing in half a million times literally few minutes apart over and over again throughout my whole time shopping on the app. making my shopping experience absolutely dreadful; I’ll take that over not even being able to make my purchase at the end of my shopping. Unbelievable. FIX THIS PLEASE JUST FIX THIS

Great but the colors aren’t the same on screen as the are in person
I love the app because it’s easy to find whatever you’re looking for. However I’ve noticed that the colors on screen vary wildly from what they look like in person. Many reds appear more purple or orange in person, and often it’s difficult to tell if the makeup is suitable for winter, summer, autumn, or spring skin tones. I’ve learned that it’s best to use the app to search for potential colors you might want to try and then go to a store to actually try it on. If I could suggest to the app creators: it would be helpful if the colors were more accurately displayed to save people the headache of thinking a lip color is deep red but having it turn out to be more of a plum. It would also help if part of the description included a list of the skin tones certain colors would best suit (not just warm vs cool either, I’m talking the full four seasons), because having one model with a chalk white arm, one with a deep tan arm, and one with a super dark chocolate arm doesn’t cover any of the medium skin tones that most people fall into.

Great app but needs minor tweaks
Great app, but with a few tweaks could be even better. On the off-chance developers actually read these reviews, my suggestions are as follows: (1) when choosing samples, you have the ability to view the full size product to read all its attendant information, but in order to navigate back to your basket, you have to manually close out of the product you are viewing and click on your basket again—quick fix would be to create back arrows that automatically navigate back to the basket; (2) the full size product view is not available when looking at the trial sample promos so you have to close out of your basket and search for the product, then go back into your basket manually—adding the same navigation options described above to view the full product and navigate back to your basket from that view would make the app perfect.

Submissions not going through
UPDATE (2/5/23) - went from a 3 star to a 2 star review. Pictures in reviews stopped loading a couple of weeks ago which is frustrating because it helps me with selections. At this point the app is feeling too saturated/crowded - interface needs a facelift so-to-speak and notifications need to be reduced by minimum 50%.************* OG REVIEW (sometime in 2022) - love the app overall. Great interface, seemingly user friendly even though it could be simplified a little, like how peoples photo attachments are above the reviews, BUT the submissions need to be fixed. There are times I try to ask questions for products and it gives me an error message that submission won’t work and try again later. It’s been weeks for the same product. I’ve force closed the app and restarted, logged out then back in and deleted/reinstalled the app. Developers need to fix the submission errors for both questions and reviews as this has clearly been an ongoing issue for years. Once the kinks get worked out I will definitely update to 5 stars.

Same problems and new one's!
I hate the new all white layout! It hurts my eyes!! The Dark Mode feature rolled out for people to use so eye strain doesn't get worse and sephora thought that doing the opposite would help for this app! Sephora needs to rethink there color layout better because since it is morw of an eye strain, it gets used less now. Plus, the should have fixed the app instead of just thinking color layout which is least important. They have been having the same issue for over 3 years now!! The share icon on the app makes the app freeze. There has been sooo many updates you would think this bug would get fixed, yet it is still there. Therefore, sephora is not paying attention to these reviews or else this bug would not be there. Can you please fix the share button so it stops freezing the darn app!! Fix your app instead of giving people eyestrain!! Since the share icon has not been fixed for so long i had to give a low rating for lack of detail by Sephora app developers. And yes I have updated software for both phone & app all these years, still same issue and a new one- rethink your all white layout!

Not impressed...just use their website
First, I was not impressed with the look of this app. It looks like it was made for cell phones because it was not a full screen so it made it hard to see using my iPad. Not a big deal but still. I know you make a killing Sephora why not update your app? Secondly, I had issues using a Happy her gift card I received for Christmas. No matter what I did it would not take it or even my debit card. I had to enter the gc as credit(per gc instructions)but kept saying it was an invalid cc and did it with my debit card too. Kept saying it’s invalid. I tried it on my computer using Microsoft edge and it worked. Sephora’s website says to use google chrome or Microsoft edge to order when I tried Internet explorer. Plus this app doesn’t give you the option to delete your cc info, you have to go to the website to delete. And it also doesn’t give you the option to enter a gift card. Only credit card info can be entered. You have to go to the website to enter a Sephora gc. What? Why?...The website took the gc and my debit card with no issue. Looks like you all need to clean this app up. I deleted it.

Tom Ford Lost Cherry eau de parfum
I am writing this review on a free product I received from Influenster/Tom Ford in exchange for my honest opinion! I LOVE THIS SCENT!! …. And it is very androgynous to boot!!! My neighbor said he would wear it as a man’s cologne as it reminded him of high end pipe tobacco! I, on the other hand, find the cherry, almond, vetiver and sandalwood both luscious and sensual! It comes on strong and immediately settles down to a more subtle, and long lasting fragrance that is personal and provocative . I could easily make this my signature scent!! A spritz daily, and two spritzes for an evening out is really all you need of this fragrance. It is not overpowering, nor is it too subtle, but right in the middle! Again, this is my honest opinion and I would love to have this fragrance as my signature scent as I feel the scent is suitable for any occasion - and you will be noticed, but in the nicest way 🥰

Sephora
Sephora is one of the better retail store applications. To start with the design while a bit compact and old fashioned is easy to navigate. Mostly any section in the app can be reached from the side menu. The app allows you to search for products in a number of ways whether it be by brand, what’s new, what’s on sale, luxury items, for men, which is helpful to me since most of the items cater to women, and other labels. Users can also use the app to see the latest promotions from the inbox section. The app also has an email me option for items that are out of stock so you will be notified when more comes in. The app allows users to search for store listings and manage their account whether it be to edit information or track store points. The app is even more beneficial to women allowing the booking of makeovers appointments and more tools that could help them come to decisions with the products being sold by the retailer.

Great when it works
This app is great when it works however there’s frequent login issues. It doesn’t keep you signed in even if you toggle over to keep signed in option, so you have to login every time you place an order or look up any account info. Password reset doesn’t often work and even if you reset your password a login error often pops up. This has happened a few times, I’ve contacted customer service and even they can’t resolve the issue. You have to delete and reinstall app and if that doesn’t resolve anything you have to wait up to 5 business days for someone to look into it and get back to you. Customer service has said this is a well known issue and yet it continues to be an issue. Why has it not been fixed yet…and even if you say screw the points, I’ll just sign out as a guest because I want to make a purchase, you can’t! You cannot sign out as a guest on the app or website on a mobile device.

Super simple
I’ve always been a dime store make up shopper and never cared much for luxury brands or spending much on skin care. That said, my needs were simpler for a long time. Discovering Sephora the last six months or so and particularly the app has been so helpful. Seeing what I’ve bought before to be sure I get the right shades, having the ability to return and replace shades that don’t work getting free trial and sample sizes to test all makes it worth it. I still don’t spend on luxury brands but I can comparison shop much more easily and with confidence. The app can be a little glitchy at times and though I have a color profile, I’m not confident that it is choosing make up shades for me on that basis. It would be great if it could show that it is a match, a near match or that the skin profile color couldn’t be matched. I’d be much more confident trying new shades in that case. Overall awesome app and awesome service model. Love Sephora.

Erin in Omaha
I rarely go in a store due to Covid, today I bit the bullet. I’ve been shopping on line and while it’s fun getting packages in the mail, sometimes going in for some professional advice is necessary. Although a young sixty something that doesn’t always wear makeup, I do occasionally choose to and when I do I like the classy but natural look. Enter Erin! She actually had the look I appreciate, lite and natural. She was on spot in helping me choose the right colors for my skin tone to choosing make up in sleek compact packaging. Yes, that was an actual request of mine because I don’t want to haul a bunch of stuff around. I was able to purchase all new makeup for the coming year feeling confident while going for the look I want with no fuss. Thanks Erin, you made my day! Mimi from Lincoln

Makes shopping sephora addictive
I like most things about the app. It is easy to navigate and shop from. The thing that is frustrating me so much is samples subbed for things I have no interest in, samples just not being included, beauty offers not being shipped. Every time they do this it makes me shop other places more. The number of times they are messing up orders latley is hilarious. And the virtual artist doesn't work well to use it live on you. Putting colors up on their models works, but mostly everything looks nonexistent or the wrong color in the live one. I also wish that you could write notes to yourself in the app. I get so many samples and use some things so sparingly that it would make organization and picking products so much easier for me. Like alot of other people I usually have so much going on. But if I could put all those thoughts down by products like in my my loves or just somewhere else in on the app it would really make me love it.

Feature requests
I do love most of the functionalities of this app, but there are a few features I’d love to see. My biggest peeve: can we add a swipe gesture to go back to search results when viewing an item detail? Reaching my thumb to perfectly target the back arrow, that is so tiny and 15px distance to the hamburger menu. I always seem to fat finger the back arrow because it’s way too close to another tap target. The back arrow and hamburger menu are simply way too close for it to be a pleasant experience. How about introducing a tab bar instead like Instagram or Facebook? Also, truncating the text instead of wrapping a long name to two lines in the list view is confusing when products are so similar, being able to view the full name creates more value because then I have to click through everything. I’d prefer to see the full name instead of “Yves Saint Laurent Powder F....” <- no idea what comes after that if the brand name is too long. Additionally, I like the star rating in the list view, but 4.5 stars for 2 users vs. 2,000 users is a huge difference. Putting the quantity of users to indicate volume is infinitely more valuable to me and saves me a tap. I do love the checkout flow. Very simplified and easy to understand and place order. But, I still think there can be some minor improvements that go a long way.

Used to love until recently
I love Sephora and I used to love their app until the last month or so when it would sign me out of my account. Normally it wouldn’t be an issue, and I would just sign in again. But whenever I try to sign in, I get an error message stating my email address or password is incorrect even though I know the information entered is accurate. I’ve reset my password just in case, and I still get this message. I’ve had to call in 3 times to get my account unlocked, which required additional password changes, and when asked no one was aware of any issues and I was told to keep trying. One person recommended I just use my browser instead, which negates the app’s purpose. My name and all my information shows up on the app in my profile but when I try to do anything it asks me to sign in and the cycle begins. Seriously fed up with this and the lack of assistance when calling in as they hang up if you so much as utter the word “ok”. Lacking the quality of service their known for.

Poor Customer Service and warehouse organization
I ordered product on April 29,2930. They advice me that it will not be delivered till May 26. That pretty much a month. They say is due to low staffing due to the pandemic. Understandable. . My daughter and I live in the same house and she has gotten her deliveries by the 5th day she ordered it. All her other items she ordered after mine have come on time. How is that when they are suppose to be all late. Me and her ordered on Mother’s day. Is 4 days later and she got it today. I called to find out when mine from the same day is coming. They said also on the 26th of Nay. Figure that! I’m done with them. I even sent an email to customer service. Days later I get their typical email they sent to everyone regarding the delay due to pandemic.

Freakin LOVE IT!!
This is hands down the best shopping app I’ve ever tried!! I’ve deleted idk how many apps because they made shopping more difficult and who needs that?? Or, they were just difficult to navigate in general.. I think it’s great how it keeps tabs of All your purchases, online and in-store, so that’s you never have to go back and try to remember what that one thing was that you loved so much, but just can’t remember which shade/brand/style/etc it was? Everything is right there, and it also keeps up with past orders, so, if you need to return something, or exchange something, all the info the clerk will need is right there. I have zero complaints about it! Well.. except for that it’ll remind me I have stuff in my basket, and that I should really go back and get it lol..

Glitches
So last week I went to add some things to my shopping cart so I wouldn’t forget to purchase them this week and I went to select the apple pay method just to make sure my shipping address was up to date and then I was going to click out of the payment when I made sure but the app glitched so when I clicked out my fingerprint matched and the payment went through earlier then I had anticipated, which wasn’t a problem I had the money but I still wanted to wait another week to make sure I had more money in my account after I made the purchase. Also my package was supposed to come by Friday at the end of the day (which was already five days after I made the purchase) but now when I went to track my shipment it says it won’t be here until Tuesday which is another four days after I had already waited the initial five days. In other words I’m not happy with my first purchase off the app I would rather do it in stores from now on.

Frustrating
This app is incredibly frustrating to use. First off, while scrolling through reviews you end up accidentally marking reviews helpful or not helpful...how is that helpful?! Who knows what is legit and what is accidental? I mark reviews accidentally every single time! Secondly, there are glitches when it comes to browsing the products and categories. If you click on a product and then go back, it goes back to the beginning, even if you’re pages in, which is annoying and you have to scroll back down to where you were. The UI is just very difficult to navigate in this app. The website isn’t much better. It’s also impossible to view the item number of your Play box (the monthly sub)on the app, you have to go through a million screens on the desktop site to find it. The tracking updates are slow via the app as well. It’s just very muddled how all the bells and whistles work. They should hire my husband’s UI company to fix this mess lol.

Sephora Beauty
I frequently shop between Sephora and Ulta. I must say Alta has a better rewards program hands down. I don’t like that being a Rouge remember you are offered to choose from samples and small products if you choose to use your rewards. I don’t want small products or samples I want a discount off of my transaction for being a member like Ulta. Anyways now that’s out of the way the Sephora app is way better than the Ulta app. I love that you can try on the make up and/or color live in the app. I love love love the fact that they do a true match from one foundation to another. I am constantly looking for the best and being a perfect match with UD 3.25 I’m able to use that color to find a true match for me with any foundation. I like the fact that you can search your frequently purchased items. I am very happy to see Apple Pay integrated in the app..

Credit Card hassle
I'm pretty sure I have brought this up with sephora before, but the app is seriously broken when it comes to entering your credit card info. If you put in the correct expiration, it will be changed to the previous month once you hit submit, causing an error saying invalid cc info or something. The solution is to pick the month ahead of your actual expiration, so that when it gets knocked back a month it will be correct and your payment cam go through. It's aggravating and needs to be fixed. I was also not able to delete the old address on my account through the the app. The error said it doesn't belong to me or something, which was weird but whatever. I generally like this app and will continue to use it. Would just like to see attention given to issues like this considering payment and shipping are an important function of the app.

Best ever
I used to shop with Ulta, but using the Sephora app to buy my makeup has saved me time and money! They have so many fun deals and you can add 2 free samples to your cart to try more products. Customer service is right there if you have any questions (and they have been so kind to me) and the reviews are right there also. I can find people with my skin type and see if they like the products or not! I love it. It’s a fantastic app and store. I always feel appreciated and beautiful when I spend time in the store! Only reason I took a star off is because I never get the samples I order, it always ends up being something different which is disappointing when I’m really excited to try one thing... but I’ve loved all the products I’ve tried anyways!

Expected a better performing app, basic common sense anti-theft measures for same day delivery
App is buggy and has a hard time with Face ID/password management. It is a pain to switch the delivery method of items in your cart, you often have to do it several times for it to stick. Secondly, and this isn’t exactly the app’s failing but basic back-end measures can easily prevent this if they tried, like at all. CAUTION USERS: if you buy something like perfume or any other expensive, non-complexion item using Same Day Delivery, Sephora either doesn’t have access to the delivery driver’s names/information (?!) nor do they wrap your package inconspicuously, so if you’re unlucky, the delivery person may steal your order and “mark as delivered”. Ask me how I know. Customer service was helpful and restored my order, but I did Same Day because I was going out of town and needed help finishing errands before I left. Complete waste of time.

Good app but missing a few important things...
This is a great shopping app but to give some constructive criticism it’s missing a few important things and also I find it hard to navigate sometimes/a bit jumbled/too much crammed in. 1. Reviews are super important I think for most people when choosing a new beauty product and while the app does show reviews it’s missing a couple key things: -Photos: I know that people can upload photos to their reviews (I’m assuming on the website) but I guess those photos can also only be seen on aforementioned website because in the reviews people mention the photos they’ve uploaded to the review but I’m unable to access/see them. -Key Words: Some apps with reviews find key words mentioned often and put them at the top for people to click on and filter the reviews they are interested in seeing. The app doesn’t have that. 2. Easy Search-ability- there are too many categories and sub categories and what feels like hidden things. I would rather it be more easy and simple. For instance there was an error with an order I made and I had to search for quite awhile to find the “my orders” tab. 3. A chat customer service feature would be great. 4. Less redirecting to the regular website.

Nice App But Could Use Improvement
I’ve been a loyal customer of Sephora and the Sephora app but recently I noticed something different. Usually each order comes with two samples and that was a great way for me to learn about other brands and their products before I made new purchases. For the past three times, my orders had either come with only one sample or no samples at all and that’s really frustrating. I wish they had informed me earlier that those samples were not available or they could offer us some substitutes or even give us a 2 out of 4 options so that we would at least get some samples of our choosing. I enjoy the convenience of having the app and getting all of our products delivered to us but if this issue continues I might consider ordering directly from the brands themselves.

I ❤️Sephora!!
App is amazing! I’ve learned everything I know about the company and the customer service, promotions and rewards etc, by using the app! I was able to get MUCH more info just navigating through it the last few months than I ever did in the store! I love the free samples and beauty offers!! Shopping w Sephora is my favorite thing! However it’s gotten me into some debt for sure! Lol but I DO love that o can use my JCPENNY credit card and make payments in the penny’s store which happens to be two blocks away-super convenient! The closest stores are at least 30 minutes away which stinks if I have returns. It’s hard for me to print returns labels without a computer or printer; that’s the only annoying thing. It hasn’t stopped me from making a zillion purchases!! Lol

Good service and products
Skincare is a million there fragrances are brilliant they give you whatever you want and when your not sure about the scents you can always ask someone online which is amazing and all there make up and hair products are all amazing and when you need to ask about the products you can always ask online and they have great services they show you all the top products and they’ll do whatever they can to get you where you want to be There is only one problem with services. When you ask to look at other products they can be a bit slow so it depends on who your talking to and if your talking to someone really slow I recommend to skip and try again. Other than that everything is good. (4.5)

Must have
I was a regular at my local Sephora until I downloaded this app a couple years ago. I have already left a review but I guess since I got a new phone and it’s my first iPhone a new review as needed... which is not a problem because I can brag on this app all day. Anytime I ever have a problem I just call customer service and they straighten it out for me and that has only happened once. The samples are great the rewards are great. If you don’t have this app and you love make up and skin care you need to download this right now and become a beauty insider. I should be a representative for Sephora! I love everything they stand for and all of the brands and products they carry. The Sephora brand it’s self, is awesome for the price point! You can’t get any better.

Quick peeks so easy!
I love having this app so I can take a quick peek without being obvious, no need for my iPad or laptop so no one knows what I’m up to. I love that I can search makeup and can make purchases without (my husband) anyone knowing what I’m up to or that I’m not paying attention to them. It works effortlessly and unlike other beauty websites, it gives excellent descriptions of products! The only frustration is that sometimes when selecting my 3 free samples with purchase, I receive something different than what I was looking forward to trying. I’ve been told this is because they run out...it would be nice if they could keep that updated. But bottom line, I LOVE this app! (And ease of purchase gets me in trouble sometimes! Buyer beware! LOL!)

Pretty buggy
I love the idea of the app and definitely the content, however for 2 days now I have been trying to get to my cart to check out with miscellaneous errors. I’ve restarted the app and reset my WiFi which seemed to get me there, however, when I got to my cart several items were sold out. Defeated I moved on with my order only to get stuck at the screen where you enter a credit card. Every time I entered the expiration date on the card it would auto correct the month to an erroneous date and declined payment. After 6 attempts I finally set the date to a month later than what the actual date is and the auto correct made it to the correct month. If I was any less self conscious about running around without foundation I probably would have given up and walked away.

This App Update made my life so much harder
I’ve used my Sephora app since 2014 and honestly it’s been NORMALLY an easy to use app with clear cut options and working links to where I need to go. I don’t know when my app updated since I have everything update automatically but wow.... I can’t even click on my profile and see my beauty insider information anymore. The profile page is utterly useless I’ve tried to figure out how much I’ve had on a gift card before through the app before I go in store and NORMALLY it’s an easy process now it won’t even open the screen in the app at all.... what is the point of updating the app and adding more complicated tools IF THEY DONT EVEN FREAKING WORK PROPERLYim thoroughly annoyed and disappointed. Guess I’ll just buy my high end makeup at Macy’s since at least if I need to see how much I have on a gift card it isn’t like trying to ace a trigonometry math test when I’ve only ever studied algebra 1....

I love Sephora but this version is not my favorite. Sorry
Normally I would give you guys and gals app a five as a Rouge member. You all are amazing but this version is slightly lacking for my needs. I have problems with my loves list and the try on products feature is very dismal now. I don’t always want to chat now with a beauty expert and find that annoying. I’m often trying to simply read the description of a product and that pops up and I get annoyed and just change my mind. I just need to know if a product will work for sensitive skin or something I don’t always want to chat. But I still love your products even though I lately have been getting samples that I did not want instead of the ones I did request. But I guess that’s life.

Free samples and bday gifts!!
I thought getting a Sephora account would be too bouji for me but I’m glad I did. I mostly use it to shop clean skincare and they have amazing brands (obviously). Not all there products are super expensive however if ur unsure about one that is u can try buying a sample size first. They also give u 2 FREE samples with every order, and u can choose from a couple when u check out. There tiny but it’s fun to try out the different products. They also give u another free sample on ur bday with a purchase of something else, and this one unlike the mini samples is abt equivalent to a trial size u would have to pay for. Highly recommend there’s literally no harm in getting an account.

It’s okay
Things are good when they work. Why do they show items that have been out of stock for over a year? Those items need to be taken off or marked as out of stock instead of having to click on them to just to see they are still out of stock. “Email when item is in stock” has never been sent but I get spammed for other things I’m not interested in. Maybe a notification for when something is back in stock not that things seem to ever go back in stock. It needs to be clearer if I can pick up locally or online only. If my cart is mixed with both, it should state what items I’m able to pick up. What is the point of the sample option when 90% of the time you don’t even get them? And if you do it’s rarely what you pick. Quizzes go blank when they don’t have a result so you can’t tell if there’s a glitch. Things for 30 yr old skin is the same for 40 yr old skin? I don’t think that is valid as many times as your results say. Update the foundation match choices. There’s tons missing. You’ve been selling Beauty Blender foundation “on sale” at 20 bucks for a while now but it’s not an option on the foundation match. Not that the foundation ever matches my skin outside the store to begin with.

I LOVE SEPHORA
Before I purchase any skincare products, makeup, brushes, hair products this is my go to app. I use this app mainly because it allows me to search for a product which I’m interested.. then I will read the full description, clean is best for me. Then I will read a majority of the reviews because my skin is super sensitive. I have two young daughters so I don’t have time to walk into the store blind, so this app allows me to dedicate myself to exactly what I’m buying, I am able to save the products, make sure they are available in the store near me and then as soon as I get to the store I have what I want so I’m in and out without a cry of my baby! It also doesn’t tempt me to buy other products since I stick to my list. Love it!

An ok app
I love Sephora as much as the next person but this app seriously needs to improve. I especially dislike the point system as I’m used to the ulta app showing me all the points i accumulate whether in store or online which Sephora only shows online only. I have over 1000 points in store when i shop but on the app and online i only have 637? That bugs me a lot actually that i didn’t really notice it until i went shopping in store for the member appreciation event. The app is also very finicky as it take forever to load sometimes and when using the virtual try on the colors aren’t exactly accurate. Also which it has the option to use Touch ID to log in as well which would be a huge plus. Overall i like the app but it still needs major improvements so far Ulta is beating it app wise but still not as much as well.

It’s an alright app.
Personally I’ve always had problems with this app when it comes to checking out. I’ll put everything in my cart, get ready to checkout with my Apple Pay and then I’ll get an error message. If I want to buy anything online I’ll have to get out of the app and use a web browser to buy from the site. That’s a bit annoying and I’m not sure why that is the case but it is. Another thing is that there are so many out of stock items that aren’t available to be purchased anymore. I wish there would be a feature to filter those items. I also keep getting faulty notifications that something that I wanted is back in stock when it’s really not. I find the app to be user friendly but there could be some changes and improvements.

It’s nice to find exactly what you’re looking for
It’s easy to navigate and gives you all the info you need and reviews, but when you use the option to filter reviews to only show beauty matches or people with your skin type or whatever I still have to scroll through hundreds of reviews from people without the features I’m specifically looking for. And it seems like they always have some type of bug, one day it’s kicking me out when I click a product I wanna look at or it signs me out after I leave the app every single time but I always have it set to “stay signed in.” And lastly they never get my samples right.... EVER, it’s free so it’s whatever but I wish if they were gonna give you whatever they’d at least remove the option to choose so I don’t have to get excited about something that isn’t coming.

App worth using
So - apps. There are good bad and ugly. I like the Sephora app - definitely good - my emails open in my app (squee) and not in a browser. I like that I randomly place items in the Basket and a month later when I have money - they are still there. No pesky session time-out notices. I love the filter and the more than 4 options for sort. This is a good app - dare I say “great”? The only reason I am not giving it five stars is the “Find a Foundation” and “Find a Mascara” functions. They need work. Especially the foundation - Hey Sephora - even my app has my color match family. How about you tell me what color that equates to in the foundations returned? Cause it is awesome on narrowing down formula and brand - but which of the 49 shades are my match?

Screen time says I use this app too much
This may sound weird, but I spent hours on this app every day. I use it to research products because there are SO many ratings/comments/photos for every product. I love the filter and sort options, the “Loves” section and the ease of use of off the charts! My only complaint is when selecting a deluxe gift, using your points to select items or adding samples to your cart - if you EXIT the cart and continue shopping, they disappear and you have to start all over. Also the samples, deluxe items and samples are not the same from the main website, which can be AWESOME but if there are better items on the main website, I have to ditch the app.
