Basically the only thing this was useful for is getting in the virtual tram line, but even then there were no notifications (which I enabled) and we almost missed it. AND twice when I checked to see how long until boarding it told me (after we had waited 45 minutes) that our spot had been cancelled so we panicked and went all the way to the tram area where we were told to just “restart the app” like this happens all the time. Pretty incredible they can put a man on the moon, yet have such a poor app. Nothing else about this app worked the entire time we were there.
Made tram reservations for 6 per directions. Was informed by app it would be approximate hour wait. Then received notice that reservation had been cancelled. Seriously??? So tried to make another reservation and had NO service on my phone! After several attempts I was able to make ANOTHER reservation and had over 2 hour wait this time. Then, I received ANOTHER notification that the 2nd reservation was cancelled!! This time I took it to the customer service desk and was told by employees that the app is always doing that if they have a lot of people trying to use it at the same time and just had to wait in line for our number to be called and it would be okay. They can send a man to the moon, but they do not have service throughout the building and can’t build a decent reservation app!! I will be deleting this app and hope if I ever have to download it again, they have vastly improve it. At least we had a great time at the space center.
We downloaded this because we had to in order to ride the tram while visiting SCH last week. This app is ridiculous. It said there was a 50 minute wait, and 20 minutes later said a 40 minute wait still. Five minutes passed and it decided we missed our tour and would not let me sign up for another. My daughter downloaded the app, same thing. Except when hers said we missed it, we were told by workers there that there were two trams in front of ours still. The app crashed on more than one occasion, in addition. It’s a piece of crap for something that is literally at a place that employees rocket scientists. Honestly ruined a bit part of the day for us. Don’t download this app unless you are looking for something to stress you out.
It's comically bad. There's no map. There's no list of things to see. There's no audio guide, much less an audio guide in other languages. There's no suggested itinerary. The "Meet an Astronaut" event didn't bother to give any clue about where in the sprawling complex it was located. The Augmented Reality feature didn't work, because at the one place I found that directed me to activate it in the app, well, neither the sign nor the app gave any clue as to WHICH of the Augmented Reality items I was supposed to choose. I chose one that seemed closest, and nothing happened. That said, it was extremely useful for one thing: The "Events" section clued us in that there was a live talk by an astronaut (though we had to go to Guest Services to find out where), and listed the times for the various short movies that play throughout the day in various places, as well as the Space Station presentation.
If you’re at Space Center Houston, you NEED to download this app. It’s basically a an awesome audio tour with a built-in GPS map. I love the “what’s nearby” function so I can explore and learn for hours. Plus, I always know where the nearest bathrooms are! The audio stops are great, the stories you hear are entertaining and educational and definitely help me have an even deeper appreciation for the early space explorers. I wish all museums had an app like this!!!
App is lagging and glitchy, the page moves separate from the background making it clunky and hard to use. The only useful feature is the tram sign up and it glitches out more times then it works leaving you stranded after waiting two hours for a tour. Often times it causes you to miss out on the tours for the whole day depending on guest count.
The main reason you download this app is to book the tram tour. Very wonky as close to the time of our tour it canceled us for some reason. The staff say the app does this and to restart. They did get us on a later tour but everything we planned for the afternoon was scrapped. Trying to plan your day around the tram tour and then getting bumped made it hard to see other time sensitive exhibits. This is good to have read read up on things but that is all we found it useful for. Best advise is to reserve tram tour at service desk and use app as a map and reference.
Not all that useful. Using it for your membership is unreliable, app logged me out and could not get my membership to display, would not let me log back in…. app has display issues.
Nasa space center Houston makes around $46 million in revenue every year, and it’s non taxable because it’s a non profit. So how in the world a company with so much $$$ can not develop an App that just works, I’m not picking on how outdated it is in terms of innovation and technology… but at least make the App work properly!!! Reeducate the management who run these programs or just hire people that understand what modern society needs. Conservative mentality is not the way to go forward and evolve…
The app was just ok but core functionality shouldn’t depend on requiring access to Bluetooth or GPS. I understand how they want these features in order to limit tram reservations to those in the building but they should limit it to generic location and not precise. Reservations for the tram was invisible in the app until you enable gps. There is also no reason for Bluetooth to be active.
The app crashed a decent number of times on a brand new iPhone. Also the map won’t let you orient it to where you are so the map is useless. The app just tries to sell you on more things instead of actually being helpful. Just ask guest services your questions. 10/10 more helpful than this app.
Total garbage. First the site crashed and I couldn’t get tickets. Then I paid for the tickets and chose “Display on Device” delivery, but never got it. I sure hope this app and the website are not developed by the same people who run our space program, or our astronauts are screwed.
Are you having problems viewing your tour reservation? Close and restart. Are you having trouble making a tour reservation? You guessed it. Get ready to do a lot of that during your stay. I did not make use of the augmented reality function. This was the worst part of the trip.
Piece of junk doesn’t allow you to do anything useful at all unless you give it permission for all of its privacy invading junk. Just go to customer service instead in order to reserve team times, etc. Utter garbage application.
Downloaded the app to book the tram tour. But on the iPhone it will not let you click reserve once the keyboard appears to enter group name. We were unable to schedule in the app and missed the tour had to wait another 30 min.
Horrible app. Does not work as expected. Tram Tour scheduling is terrible. Many visitors inside SCH experienced the same issue. Guest Services at SCH even acknowledged the issues with the app. NASA is known for engineering and etc. but they can’t even write an app.
It is very surprising for such a world famous space center to have build a useless app. I wish I could say more… I hope our reviews will help them realize a new app is needed.
This app is poorly designed. The application only works in portrait mode, which is the sign of poor designers and ignorance of the user population. Just plain laziness.
Seriously the worst app ever! Won’t load my membership card and lost my tram boarding pass! Save yourself headache and get a tram boarding pass from guest services!
Constantly freezes. Barely functional. Makes it very very difficult to book the tram or take cool selfies which defeats the purpose of the app. Expected more from NASA LOL!
