I’ve used the app several times in the past (before ads) but, recently, I can’t get my camera to focus on a stamp at all. I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro. The only way that I’ve had any success is to take a photo of the stamp before using the app, then bring the photo into the app. Also, would there be any possibility of narrowing down the search to a particular country? I collect primarily Germany and related areas and the search frequently returns stamps from a variety of countries and, often, in the wrong orientation (portrait vs. landscape).
I had this app for 10 minutes before deleting it. The first stamp I took a photo of using the app’s auto-focus feature was immediately identified, and the information it showed was detailed and helpful. However, when I went to identify the second stamp, the auto-focus would not work. As suggested by the app, I used two or three different white backgrounds, but after a few minutes I had no success. I attempted to use the manual search option, but none of the stamps suggested were nowhere close to what my stamp looks like. This app has solid potential, but as it stands in its current form I would not recommend it to anyone. (Since the review option won’t let me choose a rating for whatever reason, I give this app 2/5 stars).
I use an IPhone 13 pro to identify stamps. After scanning a few stamps and get successful results the app takes you back to the 4 icon screen refusing to identify the stamp when the stamp appears on the selection screen. I have the pro version w/o ads.
Understand, this app is not 100% accurate. This is especially true with some minor stamp variations/varieties, but 90%+ of the time I get an accurate search with the basic stamp ID/number. I usually will do a Google search of the ID and verify that it is correct. As a newcomer to collecting, it has been super helpful as I don’t have 100s or 1000s of dollars to drop on a full catalogue library. As long as you aren’t expecting 100% perfection, you will be happy with this app.
I love this app. It can identify more than 95 % of stamps no matter where the are from. The app often gives information about the meaning or message of the stamp. In the rare instance a stamp is not recognized the stamp can often be identified with Google lens. The app can be used free but you have to watch adds. I do a lot of stamp collecting so I pay the fee to go add free.
auto capture does not work well / matching algorithms seems bad
I would happily upgrade to the pro subscription version if I could get this app to work for me But the auto capture function is erratic They capture box jumps around and most often captures a random part of the envelope and then submit it for match. When I use the submit photo function, it does not come back with good matches e.g I submitted a Hardin stamp, and all of the matches that came backward of George Washington I have an iPhone 13 pro - running iOS 16.7.
I have used your Banknote identifier and I love it. I was hoping that you made the same for stamps and after searching I found it. Thanks! The Stamp identifier has worked great so far and I will be running a lot of stamps soon. I see that you are on GitHub and I’ll have to take a look. 😀
This promises what everyone wishes for. It works about 4 out of 5 times. When it struggles to find a match, my camera freezes and my iPhone X requires restarting. When the bugs are gone it’ll be a gem. Until then, good, but annoying.
I have been using stamp identifier for several months now and love it. However, when I tried it tonight, it kept reverting back to the original screen and would gove me no stamp info. Please help with this situation as I am a worldwide collector and rely heavily on this valuable apo. Thanks, John K Webster
Ads are coming up for almost every search before showing details. They are not every few searches as developer claimed. I have had six or more come up before you get one or two ad free searches. Many ads are getting ridiculously long as well. Developers are really trying to push you into paying it seems. I was ok with ads in the past but they are taking over the app.
I’m not sure why dev doesn’t just make this a one-time purchase at low cost. I guess subscription pays better, though I bet many are like me and avoid those. If support this as a $5 purchase! As it is, too expensive and too many ads. Good thing that I only need it on occasion.
This app has been very useful for gathering stamp info It would be nice to be able to upload images directly to my Colnect account since the app already accesses the website.
This app had difficulty reading more than half the stamps I have tried. I even tried their photo cropping system and still the same issue. I was getting a bit annoyed and decided to try a couple of easy stamps that I already knew were Greek stamps, but the app could not even identify them. They were clean and clear.
When I first tried it on a Prussian Stamp, the results came in instantly with what I needed. There’s no lag, not much ads, and tons of stamps! This is exactly what I need! Thank you so much!
I don’t normally do reviews, but this app is fantastic. So far it’s 100% on accuracy, and if the stamp I am scanning isn’t listed, it’s able to pull up the closest match. Love it!
This app is so helpful in sorting out the stamps that I received. It is able to find most of the stamps, even when there are ink marks on the stamps. Love it
I can’t believe you added ads. And to put “minor improvements” into the version history. Shame shame. The ads are so frequent it makes it impossible to use this app. I have well over 2000 stamps to go through and now I don’t know if I can.
This app claims enhanced image technology. Guess I should not have been shocked when the mediocrity of it was apparent after it couldnt recognize a George Washington stamp. I have never in wanted to file a claim or return request to get my 5 bucks back for an app in my life. This app is horrible and should be deleted, and creators should find another line of work.
I would have given this five stars on my old phone but it just doesn’t work with iPhone 14. An upgrade is needed or this is worthless to me. The photos will never come into focus. With the blurry photos the accuracy rate is below 5% Too bad, this had been a wonderful time saver
It’s extremely hard to get it to focus on the stamp to take the picture. Once it eventually lets you take a picture and pulls up the results page, none of the stamps it shows match the picture that you just took. I resorted to just googling the stamps.
After a few stamps the app locks up on a blank white screen and now way to go back to forward. Has done this several times and I am getting discouraged with the app and am considering deleting.
I downloaded this app to identify the color and the stamp , but cannot get the app to focus on a stamp using an apple 8plus phone , when it does identify a stamp it pulls up multiples of stamps of different variations which I can find in a book
This was my go-to app for identifying stamps. It was especially useful in identifying the zillion stamps of Japan and Russia. However, it now blasts you with obnoxious, loud, unrelated ads every time I take a picture of the stamp. I’m now looking elsewhere.
I used this app for several days last week with great success. Then suddenly it stopped working. After identifying the stamp, the app crashes. I contacted the support person with no response.
Careful signing up for this app. I’m getting charges for no advertisement, no ads, and cannot find any customer service contacts to correct the situation. Deleting the app now.
I have reinstalled this app and have tried numerous stamps. Photos and scans and I keep getting the same message. “NETWORK ERROR The data couldn’t be read because it isn’t in the correct format.” App is useless
Only returns/shows icon for any stamp searched. Slowed down. Even the payed version. Don’t purchase until they verbalize bug fixed. Last update did nothing.
The app is terribly laid out. Can’t find the last 3 stamps I put in. Maybe they want me to pay to get a better experience, but I not paying till I see it work.

Beyond hard to use. I scanned a stamp I knew what number it was and it got it right. The next one I didn’t know and it didn’t either. What good is this? It’s no smarter than me.
