I have suggestions for improvement
It is cumbersome to model correct grammar due to the fact that a separate grammar button had to be pressed. Please follow Assistiveware and make it possible to long press a button to activate the grammar function. When this update is made this will be the best AAC app out there!

Junk app
This is the single worst purchase I have ever made as far as apps are concerned. I have purchased this app TWICE for my daughter with special needs (it deletes my purchase history when updates occur). The latest problem is it is AGAIN trying to make me purchase the program in order to activate the speak feature. It is extremely frustrating because she has been using this program for 5 years and we are constantly encountering problems with it. I feel like it is too late in the game, so to speak, for her to learn a different program. Otherwise, I would immediately find a different effective AAC program and happily never look back.

Speak Issues
I’ve purchased this app so my son can speak but it continues to try to make me purchase again. There is no info to contact anyone. I’ve seen other complaints about the same issue. I’m refuse to pay again. It was a struggle enough to purchase an iPad just for the use of him to talk and now the app is useless. Frustrated! I purchased the feature inside of the app and tried everything to unlock it. Guess I’ll have to refuse the charge at my bank. So many Autism families get taken advantage of because people know we would move the earth for our kids. Just feels like another rabbit hole ASD parents get sent down.

Great for classroom use
I use Snap + Core in a classroom based setting. I love the ease of programming and how quickly you can customize it to meet individualize students needs. Tobii Dynavox offers Pathways (another app) free to help set up lesson planning that may be applicable for students who are learning to use Snap + Core. I find that you can seamlessly integrate with Boardmaker Online which is helpful in the classroom as well as for students at home.

Tobii Dynavox Greed at Needy Families’ Expense
Without warning, Tobii Dynavox has changed this application from a one-time purchase price of $100 to a subscription-based model of $10/month. This means all new users of this system will be milked for money FOREVER, as long as they need this application to communicate. Families with special needs will often require an application for that person's entire life, and if one used the app for even 5 short years, they would pay $600. If you were lucky enough to purchase it before this change, good luck. Otherwise, steer clear of this money pit. Other apps such as LAMP and Touch Chat are still one time purchases, but they are expensive. Wait for a sale in May or Black Friday if you can. TD, please revert this money-grubbing scummy practice and make communication affordable again.

not in the least intuitive!
Surely a big co. like tobii dynavox can do better than what feels like a total bait and switch. Download and first step is to pick a voice when it asks you 'which do you like the sound of', only there is NO SOUND! Oh i have to pay for that, hmm ok. So we move on to the words. Oh whats that there are none in the layout i chose? I have to manually add them 1 at a time?! Free or not - and it's really not - this isn't anything like your claim to be the easiest to use or most intuitive when compared to other aac choices. Very disappointing.

App glitch with iPad Pro don’t buy
When I bought this app, I did not know it would not work with my iPad Pro. It crashes. There went my 49 dollars. The app would get 5 stars if the developer changes this glitch on iPad pros. I met with a representative this week and said the app has not being fixed of such glitch because it only occurs in less than 1% of buyers. It is too bad that the developers don’t see it was a child’s communication opportunities which were affected and not a simple statist in their app development. Shame...

Won’t use text to voice over a FaceTime call
I purchased this for my wife who has lost her voice due to ALS. The rep was able to demonstrate the functionality using her iPhone and iPad. For unknown reasons and hours and hours of trying to make it work with our devices, we both agreed it does not work for us. Too bad, because the program is pretty feature rich but this is a “must work” so we will have to find something else.

Latest version stole my voice
While I like some of the new options in the latest version. I did have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get access to the voices I had already paid for, so that was kind of a pain.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
This is an amazing program, and paired with Pathways it is invaluable. As a speech therapist, I have been working with a child who uses this system for a couple months and only now just discovered how useful the topic pages and supports are. I am so impressed and grateful for such a great app!

Money hungry, please do research & find another AAC app
Like everything else in the USA this inflation is ridiculous, and these developers are on board with taking every cent from families who need the help. My son is nonverbal and he uses this app but it constantly signs him out requiring me to troubleshoot. On top of that they FORCED USERS INTO A SUBSCRIPTION, why not sell the app like before? All these reviews & comments all saying the same. Shame on you.

Amazing!
Great app for non verbal children! Teaching them how to use it can be a bit of a challenge and takes months and dedication but the rewards are giving children who can't speak a voice!

Not good
I can’t figure out the speech. It hasn’t upgraded anything since paying fifty bucks to unlock speech. I have downloaded the voices, reinstalled the app, turned off my iPad, turned my volume up on the iPad and inside the app. What else can I do? $50 is way too much for an app that people can’t figure out. Please help!!

I payed for the full 50 dollars only for them to try and make me buy the stupid subscription. It’s shady and dumb that they would do this to people who already payed.

A poor option in AAC for those seeking a research supported app.
This AAC app is disappointing. The most important part of the app, the core vocabulary, clearly took a back seat to the extras like behavior supports. That is to say the behavior supports and similar features are well done, but the actual language piece is so poorly designed as to make it unusable. Editing is easy if you seek to make small changes, but if you seek to essentially redesign the vocabulary to fix the flaws in the core word system editing is cumbersome. There is no way to set the age if the user so that, for example, a toddler doesn’t have sex related vocabulary and an adolescent doesn’t have vocabulary more suited for a young child. The topic pages use full sentences paired with a single symbol, often times the same symbol that is used elsewhere in the device for a single word, making learning what a button with that symbol will say very difficult. Additionally, there seems to have been no research into what sentences will be used on these topic pages, clearly no one took and analyzed language samples of what people say in these settings. Adding to the mess is the fact that phrase and full sentence buttons are typically understood as something that should only be used in emergency and fast moving social situations, and should be co-planned with the AAC user. These full sentence buttons allow a user to avoid the vital tsk of learning to create spontaneous novel utterances and instead say something they may not actually mean by tapping a pre-programmed sentence that might not have a symbol that makes it clear what the button will say. There are also so many little things, like the inability to change the symbols used for active content on a button. A button might be set to show the day of the week, but since the end user cannot change the symbol that shows up it might not be understandable to the AAC user. Sometimes it feels like the designers of the app forgot these are supposed to be communication symbols, not decorative symbols! Additionally the inability to arrange scan groups for those using a switch makes the program hard to use for those needing alternative access. Long story short, if you are picking an AAC app for early, emergent or progressing communicators you may want to pick something else.

Extremely poor value as a subscription
Back when Snap was a one-time purchase, it filled a unique niche in the market: a full-featured, somewhat robust, symbol-based AAC app at a relatively approachable price -- $50, relative to the $250-$400 that other apps cost. It was actually my own first iPad-based AAC app, and one I frequently recommended -- with reservations about the lack of robustness -- because it was financially accessible. The main downside to Snap is that even the newer Motor Plan vocabulary is sorely lacking in abstract concepts and shades of meaning. As a literate, semi-speaking AAC user, this is irritating and dysregulating; to younger AAC users, it could be a serious impediment to language and literacy development. Today, I use the new Proloquo, which has a vocabulary that simply beats the pants off every other symbol-based app, and is comfortably usable out of the box -- with some compromises in word choice -- by a literate user for a wide range of conversations. It is a subscription -- $10/month or $100/year -- but well worth the money to me. Having tried both apps, I find it downright *laughable* that Snap would think their app is worth the same monthly cost as Proloquo. It is also rather cruel that they gave zero notice of this change, sending potential new users back to square one if they had budgeted, fundraised, or arranged with school or insurance to cover the original price. There are other options here: If $50/user truly wasn't paying the bills, they could've doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled the price and remained an affordable choice. If a subscription was truly necessary for sustainable development, they could've charged $5/month and still earned the old price in subscription fees in less than a year. Please, TD, show your users some compassion. If your devices are truly as good as you say, you don't need to jack up the app cost for iPad users.

Bad
You have to pay $999.99 in order to get the speech function which is a waste of money because the Indi dynavox also costs $999.99 and it has a longer battery life and louder speakers than the iPad. So you should just get the device instead.
