I have been a daily Press-Enterprise Reader since 1964 and a Subscriber from 1975. I switched to mostly digital last year and would not go back. Being able to read most articles start to finish with a single click and scroll maneuver is great! I also like being able to return to recent editions for continuing stories. My sole complaint is for the Full-page Special Interest stories. It is literally impossible to read them on a cellphone and very difficult on a laptop! I went Next door yesterday to get my neighbor’s copy to read your excellent Summary of COVID-19 developments. Ronald Chick Riverside
I’ve been a subscriber to the digital PE and can honestly say this new version is very buggy and not an improvement over the prior version of the app. I have reported numerous issues to no avail so thought I would list just a few of the bugs here in hopes to get the attention of an iOS developer and possibly get them fixed(and make the app much more user friendly). Prior app allowed you to configure a “Single tap” to read an article (Enlarge it). That option is gone and I now have to double tap to enlarge an article to read. Double tapping on an article dows not frame it on my iPad screen. Instead it defaults to the upper left of the page forcing the user to then scroll to try and find the article to read The header bar covers the top portion of the page after returning to the entire page view forcing the user to scroll to the next page the go back to reframe the header bar. Oh, and the pop up ad at the bottom of the page will also cover some of the text from the paper. This new version definitely a step backwards from the prior version and is now as user friendly as the prior version. Whoever QA’d this version sure missed a lot of issues for those of us who read (or try to read) the paper on an iPad.
Good app which improved, but could use one minor improvement. I like that you can touch the article and it will open so you can read the entire article and it shows the original page and continues with the next page. This is better than your competitors. I just wish the red color of the article would go away after you X out and go back. Minor annoyance, but to me it would be the last improvement for a great newspaper app. Thank you for being here with the news.
This is what I’ve been looking for in local news. I don’t mind some ads that are embedded in the article, but other online news apps use savvy ways of getting ads to show up on the screen that turn readers off. Keep up the same protocol with readers and you’ll build your readership. I’d pay $1 a month (or more) for ad free news, I think others should too.
I love being able to open up my P-E app and read my paper whenever and wherever I am. Took a minute to learn how to navigate it but I got it. My only loss here is not being able to do the puzzles. I am happy.
Just like a traditional newspaper being dropped at your door every morning, I receive a little bell notification that my paper has arrived. Early every day, ready and waiting for whenever I have time to read it.
For at least the last five days I’ve had problems getting into the newspaper. Haven’t had this issue before. Yesterdays paper comes up and I’m looking for an arrow or something to go to todays and end up having to get frustrated and it finally goes or I have to delete app and start all over again.
I have been reading the press enterprise since a young teen when I was a delivery boy. Now many years later, I still enjoy reading the news delivered by the press. Now the use of modern technology enhances the news even more. I love this app!
I travel for work but still want to remain informed and connected to home. Having The Press Enterprise available online is just the thing I needed. I love everything about this and how easy it is to navigate.
I enjoy reading The Press Enterprise because of the information it provides. It’s part of my daily ritual and every section is worth the time it takes to read. I hope people continue to support our local newspaper because of the exceptional writers and unbiased opinions.
If there was another local news paper, we would cancel you in a heart beat. Your continual association with left wing, liberal news agencies is terrible. The “fake news” reported here and the liberal slant of the Associated Press is overwhelming upsetting. President has done an amazing job as President but he does leave some things to be desired at a personal level. Just report the news in an honest and factual manner! Dr. Bill Hendrick
It is a pleasure to see some life in the local paper. The online version is easy to use and there seems to be enough ads to continue so good job. Now all you need to do is stop using the ultra conservative editorials from Orange County.
Nothing spoken compares to seeing it in writing. Even the best entertainment news misses all the facts. Sometimes it is spoken so fast you miss it. I’m always sure The Press Enterprise on line can fill in the gaps. Thanks for being there with ALL the news.
PE proves great morning catch up, as both the important local and national news are there for you, without having to traverse thru non-essential information. Enjoy it daily.
I used to be able to click on an article and read it start to finish. Now I can only read what’s on the paper page and have to hunt for the rest of the article. Very hard to navigate this app. I’m no tech genius, but I’m not a newbie either, and it seems to me it shouldn’t be this frustrating
Your new and improved app is FANTASTIC ! The functionally of the app is TERRIFIC ! I can’t offer anything that would improve the app ! Thank you for making reading the app on line a pleasurable experience ! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
When I found this app I was so thankful. It is so nice to download the paper from anywhere I am and it looks just like the paper I use to have delivered to my home. Great app! Thanks.
We've been with this paper for years and now it tells me the new version is not compatible with my iPad ! I'll be ending all my subscription and future business with this RAG !
I called and they said someone from technology would call me and they didn’t. I will keep calling and writing these reviews. Peter a paying subscriber to the digital version. PMJ my initials
