Trippie: The Airport App

This might be a good app, I don’t know, so I’m giving it 4 stars since that is the average. I can’t get it to pass the step “finding closest airport”. Probably because my internet isn’t the greatest and I’m currently not close to any major airport. But I would like to see what this app actually has to offer. Could the creators please add an option to skip the “finding” step? Or let me enter my location manually or something? Update: After the bug fix, I was able to get the app working better when I deleted and then reinstalled the app. It no longer hangs on the location page. Thank you! It has a lot of potential, and I like the interface and the concept of the app. It is still buggy though. I can’t view any airport maps, and if I tap on an icon for a restaurant or whatever, it just makes the app crash instead of showing more information about the restaurant. Also there aren’t many airports yet (I was hoping for Charles De Gaulle). But I see that the developer is working on the app, so I’m going to keep my original rating and watch for updates.

Easy UI. Fast and now seems reliable. Thanks for not having to add in my password when signing in with Google or FB account. Still a great concept for something like this and goes well beyond Google Maps. I like seeing the hours of operations and can understand having to do all of this by hand. I look forward to more improvements. I travel a lot and wouldn’t mind helping improve with different airports that aren’t “hubs” for most airlines. Other airports might be small but just as important to know if I have 3 or 7 min walk each way before my flight leaves. Previous 2* review: Cool concept. Continual crashes on iOS 11 on iPhone 7+. Initially tried logging in with Google and then Facebook. There’s no reason this app needs either of my passwords for these log ins. Tried to create a Trippie “account” and tried to sign in, once selecting an airport, app crashed. Tried 3 times and touched 3 different airports, crashed every time even after a phone restart. 2 stars as a start at least for concept and wha to saw on SharkTank.

I saw your app on shark tank so I decided to give it a look on the App Store. I opened it up and looked at the nearest airport and whatnot, just looking around at the app seeing how it is. I gotta say I am impressed that you were able to develop this app while being a college student/athlete. I understand where the sharks came from (they were harsh but anyways) your app hadn’t blown up yet and it was work in progress. Everything has to go through that and I think this app could be very good. If you could make it easier to navigate the airport I believe that would make it much better as well. Otherwise I’m impressed by the way this app is put together and I think you have a real good shot at having yourself a winner here. Good luck and keep with it.

I watch you on shark tank and I thought I saw this on imaps on my iPhone so I went to imaps on my iPhone and went to lax and they have what you have but better. On apples imaps it tells you even more than this app and the graphics are way better. It also has a 3D map of each terminal including the walls but this app does not have it. Apple is also doing this with malls where it tells you what is on each level. In about 1 year Apple would of competed every airport In America with a 3D map of the airport and what there is to do and eat so I would go with apple and not this app, sorry. Some thing that you should add to make the app better is, you say where you have to go then the app tells you how long it will take for you to get there then tells you how long the line is then how long to eat there then how long to come back to your gate so the app will calculate that to you and say, if you leave in 3 mins to Starbucks it will take you 20 mins to get there, eat and to come back to your gate and have 10 more minutes until you have to board. So you can put your flight # in and the app will then tell you if you can make it to the restaurant or not .

Hiii, like a lot of reviewers, I saw you on Shark Tank and wanted to come by to download this app and show my support. It’s very obvious how much time you spent on this dream and that you worked very hard on it. It is also clear that once the Sharks started giving their feedback it was very difficult for you. It’s not that your ideas for your app aren’t good, or that you haven’t put enough effort into it, it’s just that you haven’t been able to fully realize your vision yet. The Sharks are tough sells… they’re Sharks! It was just too early on in your entrepreneurial story to go in there and present this to them. Keep pushing and working hard. Once you get a lot more of that functionality (I love the Waze for airports idea—seeing TSA security line updates would be so useful as a frequent flyer), as well as more airports and specifically partnerships with those airports so you don’t have to manually input everything at the back end, it’ll be at the level where the big time investors can really hop on board. You’ve got this!

I loved this on SHARK TANK! I wanted to show my support for a fellow entrepreneur and tell you to keep fighting for your dreams! This app is a brilliant idea and you’re going to succeed with bringing your vision to life! Keep at it and don’t give up. I will be sharing this app with family, friends, and travelers. When my Airbnb property is in operation I’d like to advertise your app to guests. The sharks are from an OUTDATED generation anyway. We respect them, but we learn from them and do better. You’ll probably never see this, and it’s rare you’ll ever find me under the comments/reviews section of anything… I couldn’t watch that episode and not say something to encourage someone who truly deserves to be. Show them all that they missed a huge opportunity. 👍🏻

I think this airport app is great and will definitely use it, just wanted to add, if you could expand it to malls around America, i think it would help a lot. Let’s say I need to go to Nike, Macy’s, Brookstone and Apple. The fastest way to get from A to B is a straight line, so you could map out/route the fastest ways to hit each store consecutively so people get in and out of the mall in no time that way people won’t have to wander around the mall aimlessly wasting hours of their day and getting sidetracked by a bunch of stores they don’t need anything from or harassed by kiosk salespeople who once told me my pours are too big and ugly so I would want to buy their expensive creams. Keep up the great work and thanks for helping me find the best ways to kill time during layovers or delayed flights!

The first time that I open this app and told me to login or sign up. I skipped that menu thinking that I would do it later. Catch however, it does not show me an option to track my flight, and I have not been able to find that screen again even with deleting and re-downloading the app. Otherwise this is a very good app and that’s why I am giving it four stars. I hope that this will soon be fixed.

Downloaded this app while sitting waiting in the airport thinking it would be a grand idea for someone to compile airports maps and make it a one stop shop of figuring out where you are and what food, stores, restrooms etc are near you. Once downloaded it quickly found the airport I was at but then I selected map and it literally pulled up google maps….. like why would I need a separate app to use google maps. Then I selected the food list and it error coded and couldn’t be found. I tried another airport location that they listed as an option (should be well put together and equipped if they are showing it available) and both the map selection and to food selection came up as google maps and even went far enough as to just reroute me to google maps app. All in all pointless app.. an awesome idea but poorly executed.

This app used to be so good and it’s just progressively gotten worse over time. I remember downloading this right after I saw it on Shark Tank. It was my go to for airport travel and as it expanded across the world it got even better. The food selection was (again…was) organized so well by terminal and it even showed where bathrooms were. the airport maps were so well done too! Now everything just takes you to the mobile version of the airport website which is always terrible. Even worse - the airport maps just take you to google maps! how is that supposed to help me navigate the airport when i’m just looking at the roof? I miss the way this app used to be and I don’t understand how it’s acceptable to make these changes. None of it makes sense.

I just watched you on Shark Tank.. You are such a smart and passionate young man and this WILL happen for you given your commitment, talent and your sweet Mom :) I'm in Dallas so Dfw would be great, international of course (like London) & big hubs. I have to agree it's a bit early to incentivize investors BUT Lori had a genius idea!! Somehow letting people know how bad (or good) security lines are would take your App to a whole other level and you'd be the first (I think) to fill that necessary void!!! Keep on keeping on and don't be sad... it's a setback and you'll get lots of feedback that's helpful from the exposure.... Feedback is invaluable in making your App better. YOU STILL GOT THIS! Just not quite yet ;)

This app has a lot of potential for the future but i don’t feel it’s there yet. First, there are only 12 airports listed, that needs to be increased substantially. Second, when you click on restaurants there needs to be a lot more information. Menus, specials, prices, pictures, reviews, busy times etc. If I wanted to just know what restaurants are at the gate I could just use Google Maps which coincidentally is what this app is using. Furthermore, security line wait times, weather, travel tips/deals, locations/deals at other non food retailers, etc. should be incorporated into this app. And one last thing, PLEASE ADD MCO ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!!!!!! Good luck, you will get there I’m sure. I watched you on Shark Tank. It’s obvious you’re a smart talented person. As Damond John would say, keep grinding.

You have something here. I like most of the other reviewers saw you on Shark Tank! The reason the sharks passed, up front, is due to the fact you weren’t in an invest-able place yet. The idea was there, the product hasn’t caught up yet. THATS NORMAL... Anyhow, Love it! Keep Working, and pushing keep going. Success is what you see in Mark, Lori, Barbara, etc.... what you didn’t see was the same struggles you are feeling right now, that they went through to get to the definition of “Success”..... beautiful UI, great work so far! I will keep using I am frequent flyer (Literally, Plantinum & A List). So keep going! Keep your chin up!

After watching you on Shark Tank and you've been through I thought I would just help out and in your free time can you add LAX Los Angeles Airport and when I saw you get put down that changed me and I probably would try to help you out so I'm gonna download the app and try to b the biggest help I can be and don't worry about what the people said on shark tank don't give your hopes up yet I bet you can find other people to invest and if you start a merchandise store I'll buy from you and just remember just because they didn't want to invest in your company doesn't mean to give up try and try and try to make they app the best you can

Those guys were unusually harsh to you for no reason at all. They could have given more encouragement and direction if no investment. I think they should go back and watch the episode with you because I don’t think they realize how belittling they were to you. I have seen people come on there with the worst ideas and still get treated like a decent human being. I think the app is genius. Especially for people that travel often to new locations and don’t have time but need necessities in a timely manner. Keep up the great work ! Hope you make it to the top!

I was traveling two weeks ago wishing there was an app like this! We were in Honolulu airport wondering where a certain beer venue was and we had to ask around a few times to locate it. Honolulu airport needs to be added. I was also in Atlanta the same week looking for Chik-Fil-A and had to wander around until I found it. Great concept for an app! Looking forward to new locations. I agree with others that the Sharks were too harsh. But now you can make all the improvements and prove them wrong. Looking forward to using this app next time I travel!

Love the layout of the app.. however I find a lot of times the app glitches. It takes a while to load, or I have to click the terminals, go back, then click them again individually for things to even load. A lot of the information isn’t updated—new openings, not showing the correct location, and even places that have been closed down for at least a year or two. This app has so much potential to be great and very useful, it just needs to be updated way more. With my job it’s always nice to know where the closest coffee is and what their opening hours are! Hope to see the kinks fixed soon.

I watched you on Shark Tank and I thought your presentation and pitch was phenomenal. I know that putting so much of yourself into something and having it be shot down can be extremely difficult and discouraging. Your product and ideas seem brilliant and very helpful! Good job! Maybe they didn't give you a fair shot... I can tell they misjudged you. I'm so sorry about that... That must've really hurt your feelings. Keep working hard and remember that only positivity, self affirmation, and hard work can make you successful! I wish you all the best and I'll be using your app! :)

I came here after watching the shark tank pitch. I know that occurred a couple years ago, so I was excited to see the progress made by what is obviously a dedicated entrepreneur. Wow was I disappointed. The airport map just links to Google maps! The order food button just links to the mobile version of the airport website! It’s like they just stopped trying!If this app can’t even get airport maps right, how can they do anything else? Take this app off the App Store until that basic level is achieved! Otherwise this app is just lying to us about its relevance. The Atrius platform that many airports use for their interactive maps is infinitely better, and seems to have achieved what this developer was intending to.

I also downloaded this app after watching you on Shark Tank. I wish you wouldn’t have gotten so down on yourself, but it’s completely understandable. You have accomplished SO much. You should be proud of yourself and you should pat yourself on the back. Keep going, maybe try to add that feature to rest airport security lines & add some more airports in there. I personally am proud of you & hope that you keep moving forward. The world has not seen the last of you, that’s for sure. Congratulations!

The sharks didn’t get it and missed the boat....! As a flight attendant, this is app is amazing for flight crew! I can’t count how many times I’ve been in an airport wanting to know what food or stores were there. I’m in and out of several airports all throughout the day! IAD-EWR-CLT today alone. I was told the wrong way to a pizza place in CLT and this app would have saved me time that is often limited between flights to grab food. It’s genius! I’ll definitely promote this app amongst my colleagues! Great idea young man...! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Worst travel app of all time. Just to list a few of many problems...my destination airport wasn’t listed. They do allow you to submit a suggestion to include the missing airport, but once you hit “submit”, it kicked me off the app and so you have to start all over again. I couldn’t locate a good tutorial or A tutorial at all. No menu option. No way to save favorite airports. You put a star by the airports you often use, but good luck finding them again and/or figuring out how they are saved because every time you get kicked out of the app (which is often), you have to start all over again. Other issues but too many to list. Bottom line...WORST APP EXPERIENCE IN THE HISTORY OF APPS.

I was very interested in this app from seeing it on shark tank until I saw the founder have a break down and cried embarrassingly on national TV. I went ahead and downloaded the app after seeing all of the positive reviews. After using the app before my flight at JFK, it’s clear that all of the reviews ARE FAKE. This app can be valued at $100, not $1M. User interface is difficult to use. The app basically just directs me to JFK’s website, which I could do through my web browser. The Waze of airports idea was amazing, if only users could input their real time data and that be aggregated to others, that would be useful but that app doesn’t do that. Someone should do that, maybe Waze or Google does it already?

This would be crazy convenient if you were able to somehow format it like Grubhub - where you could see the restaurants, browse their menus, and even (if you could get the restaurants/airports on board) even pre-order what you want. That combined with the GPS and time estimation to and from said restaurant would be very useful. It would benefit the Airports as well, giving travelers more time to browse other stores while waiting to pick up their food.

Saw this on SharkTank and was shocked that the sharks would be so quick to pass on such an innovative idea - for those that cannot afford private planes and luxury experience, this app is great. Connecting travelers to local establishments and easy in-app navigation the app takes great stress away from traveling in unfamiliar locations. I love the interface, and found the app extremely useful! Are the Sharks getting too old and disconnected from the struggles of the rest of us?

Love this app... things that I’d love to see: Airport Maps (I always hate having to figure out how to get to the gate). Waze-like directions with estimates to the gate from current location (helpful too if you’re in a restaurant and you don’t want to miss your flight). Maybe a reminder? Integration with Yelp... estimate of security wait, high medium low... with history (simple daily bar graph, not detailed). Integration with airlines to track delays.

This app is amazing. It does not get the love it deserves. It is amazing that an app could be built better than the largest airline companies. There are several large chatting areas on the app, if a large airline company used this as their own, it would make traveling show much easier. Keep making these apps and updates please.

I love the idea to find food spots nearby but I travel a lot and once you go to the same airport a lot you know where almost everything is I would use it if it had airports out of the United States for example El Salvador I love that country I would definitely use it because I don’t know that airport much and I would love to see where food places are nearby

I recently started using this app and I’m impressed! The user interface is intuitive, making navigation a breeze. The features are well-thought-out, providing a seamless experience. It has been perfect for whenever I use it and so far has proved to be a valuable addition to my digital toolkit. Highly recommend!

I love this. I’ve had troubles trying to find my way around airports so many times, and this app is really nice for keeping everything together. A feature I would love to see is if I could somehow filter the food options based on dietary restrictions. I also think this would be great if it was modeled like Happycow to where people could leave reviews in the app. Overall though, I think it’s a great app.

First, the airport maps need to show arrivals as well as departures. It would be nice to know where things are in the arrivals lounge when I finally clear customs and walk out into the terminal. Second, the “shops” feature just loads a website. That consumes data and I presume won’t work when offline. I don’t always have data when I’m wandering about, so half the usefulness is gone because I can’t access a simple list of “these are the shops and restaurants in Terminal 2A” The design is nice though and it is at least somewhat decent. It’s definitely better than the last time I tried it and ended up deleting because of the bugs. Update: I’m trying to use this app RIGHT NOW at CLT and none of the features I need (airport map and airport shops/restaurant) are usable due to a slow internet connection. All this data should work offline. So since I’m unable to use the app at all, I’ve revised this down to 1 Star.

I was in Seattle airport awaiting my flight to NYC JFK. I was so hungry and I had so many bags plus I was all alone. I could not find one thing to eat near my gate so I opened my Trippie app and found out that this airport had a food court down on the other end of the airport. Thank you Trippie your user friendly app helped me solve a difficult problem for me. BEST APP EVER!!!! I use google maps and they was the worst. Once again BEST APP EVER!!!!

I saw you on shark tank! And I want to say it breaks my heart seeing you like that! But hey, put your head up and stand straight and keep moving forward because it is just the beginning! The feedback you received was valuable! It wasn’t ready to be invested in at this point but you have the idea! Always let everyone know that this is what you’re working on and keep a positive attitude and the people you need to help you accomplish what you’re looking to accomplish will come along. This is a product that is needed but the company needs automation!

I watched you on Shark tank. They were extremely tough on you. I thought this was a great idea. I instantly downloaded this app because no matter how much more developing it needs. You need not to give up. You put up a fight and you are a genius. You went on their seeking support and funds. Although I don’t have the fund, you’ve got my support and my download. This has been super useful while traveling! I have a family of 4 and we rarely eat the same things so it was really cool to be able to come on this app at the airport and we each get to find restaurants that we like that’s near our terminals. Definitely helpful for us!

I was very impressed with you on Sharktank. So, I decided to go in and download your app. I was a flight attendant for 45 years and would have loved to have had this at that time. I hope someday you can put Honolulu in the app. In the meantime I now have it and I will use it the next time I travel thank you. By the way, the Sharks were pretty rough on a couple of entrepreneurs tonight.

After watching shark tank, I had to try this app! It is such a great idea! I love it so much and will be using it at the airport! I am so sorry for what they said, keep going with this product as it will help thousands of people! My mom and I always have to walk around the airport five times before finally deciding where we should eat, and this app solves this problem! Thank you!

I have been wanting to create the same thing for the past five years so I am thrilled to know someone else had the same idea and will make it very easy to find food at every airport! When you travel a lot it is so hard to know! Thank you so much for pursuing this and making it a reality for everyone to use!!!

I just saw you on shark tank and I felt so bad for you. I’m one of those people that feels really bad for other people all the time. Not a lot of people would have the courage to get back up and say, “Wait. This app is great. Last month I was traveling with my sister and we wanted some coffee, I went on google and tried to see if I could find a cafe in the airport. Instead I got a whole list of non relevant eateries. I wish I knew about this app sooner , traveling would be so much easier, especially after long flights and all you want is coffee.

I came here to download your app! I watch the show when I can, but I don’t make it a priority because of how that cast can discriminate. You keep your head up and focused on achieving your goals! I wish there were more people of color to make it as far as you have. On the other hand, I wouldn’t want them subject to their bias. God Bless and all the best in your endeavors.

Your visions and ideas for this app were phenomenal when you pitched it on Shark Tank. You have solved my number one issue when being at an airport. One time I traveled to Miami Airport by myself for the first time ever on a plane, and I was lost for hours. You have solved that issue and I can see that you really did put work into this. You did great and thank you for such a useful app.

Man I just saw you on shark tank and it bothered me sooooo bad that you kept dropping your head King. No matter what ALWAYS HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH!! Definitely never let them see you cry! Just saw shark tank, that young black and educated man poured his heart out, and those sharks ate him alive. I just saw you on Shark Tank. YOU WILL GO FAR. Like Mark said, it’s all part of the game. Take everything that they told you and use that to make something even greater. You got million dollar exposure just by being on that floor. As a young black kid from a not so good neighborhood, that just gave me motivation to not let anyone hold me back after I get this degree. KEEP ON PUSHING AND BREAK DOWN THOSE WALLS, NOTHING CAN STOP YOU!

Wife uses this all the time at ATL airport and San Francisco airport. Decided to download. Easy to use. Straightforward. One suggestion is to add "Report Error" function somewhere on the restaurant info screens. It would make your job easier to find discrepancies. Also would be cool to incorporate user feedback and Yelp-style reviews for each location.

This app has truly changed my travel experience! No longer am I wasting time in search of my next destination, whether it be food or otherwise. It's easy to use and super helpful, especially when you're in a rush to get from point A to point B in a matter of minutes!
