So much better with app overhaul. Easy to use and looks really nice. Keeps crashing now when taking notes during exam reviews. Possibly since iOS 18 just came out.
I’ve been using TrueLearn app to study for a while now and it's pretty solid. The questions are tough, but the explanations are super helpful and even when I miss, I usually get them right the second time. I like that I can make my own quizzes and choose only questions I have gotten wrong before. It's definitely helping me feel more prepared for the real thing.
Being able to have access to my question bank while on rotations has been really helpful so that I can squeeze in prep time even if I’m not on my laptop. I like that all my work carries over between my computer and the app and I can see my main performance information.
I like the interface but I’ve noticed two flaws so far. It gives a demo to tap twice on an answer choice to strike through it but then it doesn’t show that that answer choice is striked through until it shows your answers at the end of the quiz. It also at times is stating that I am getting some questions incorrect then stating that they are correct
Overall, does what it’s supposed to do. It does not go into landscape mode, no cross out feature, and I constantly need to log into the app (most frustrating). Hopefully at least the log in feature will be included in the next update. I use my laptop if I want to use the other features.
It has the question bank and the content is the same along with the media. If it stopped right here, it would be a 5/5 for me. However, it seems to not be optimized. I have had several times where the exams/quizzes crash, I reboot to find my quiz submitted(?) with all of the remaining (blank) questions submitted and missed. The other main complaint is the use of emojis within the score review percentage. I have to be honest, I have no idea what any of them mean beyond the giant smile. It seems gimmicky and it’s unhelpful. In its place, I feel that if it gave peer’s performance by your score, that would be more useful. I think this is a sign of many things trying to increase brevity and dumb things down to emojis but it comes off as superficial, gimmicky, unhelpful, and I end up opening the quiz to see what my percentage compares to my peers (in numbers - not emojis) anyway
Needs a landscape mode if they’re advertising for tablet or ipad
Overall the app is fine, gets the job done but definitely only really usable on a phone. I had a total of 3 assessments that I had done, but because perhaps because I downloaded the app only after I did two of them, those didn’t show up on my phone so I was not able to review them on the go. Overall, the one BIG fix or update needed is a landscape mode for the iPad, even if it’s just the same dimension but rotates when the iPad is horizontal.
Dashboard doesn’t even work to show you any stats when you pull up like the web browser version does. Does fine when you create a new test and answer questions on it, but frankly is not very slick, lacking in features, and occasionally buggy especially when considering how much the overall question bank costs to subscribe to in the first place
Solid start, team. Would love a highlight feature and would also like to suggest development of a wrong-answer flash card study tool. Easy to use in the car and on the go. Notification reminders like the old text feature would be a cool way to increase traffic!
Yes you can do questions but you should be able to easily highlight things especially in the explanation (since you’re usually not around your notes when using the online app — it would make it so much easier to review your questions and add info to notes later)
It would be nice if I could see the highlighting I did on a question when I’m reviewing tests on my iPad so I can remember what stood out to me in a question. Also it would be nice to be able to highlight on the app w a finger or Apple Pencil.
True Learn helped me PASS and that’s all that matters!
I used this app religiously along with its recently improved website and I just barely passed my FNP AANP exam! The questions helped me learn how to answer, find patterns, and master a lot of content! True learn is the best!
The app works fine and has great graphics, easy to use interface, yet the app does not support landscape mode which is a big factor when is comes to IPad since many cases and covers have keyboards. I would definitely give it 5 stars if it not were for that.
Not sure why this app has so many bad reviews it works fine. Can’t figure out how to cross out answer choices or go landscape mode but its a mobile version. If I needed all the features i’d use my laptop
Great if it worked. Now I can’t even get to my old/paused exams to review/finish them when I go to preview exams tab. It just freezes the entire app making it close to useless. Please fix it?! This is a relatively new problem for me and makes it hard for me to complete questions during rotation downtimes
The TrueLearn question bank is of good quality but OMG this app is extremely terrible. The data such as average national scores and percentile differs from the website. The app frequently crashed and if you select an image you have a close the app to get back to your question. They can learn a thing or two from the UWorld App. Please fix this terrible app. Learners desire better.
Please make landscape view available, and SWIPE to see next question. It’s crazy to only be able to click on a small corner of the screen to get to the next question. The old app had these features... I don’t understand why this one doesn’t! It also doesn’t remember my password. Sooooo frustrating. Rosh review has a much better interface FYI
Slow, glitchy mobile app that doesn’t let me open up lab values without crashing. Questions are often poorly written with typos and covering low yield topics. Images attached to questions are usually so low resolution it can be hard to tell what I’m supposed to be looking at. UWorld does everything this app and service does much better.
Not sure why they felt the need to get rid of landscape mode. This “updated” app is not better in any perceivable way and is super annoying to use now. Also keeps making me sign in every 1-2 hours if I’m not continuously using it, which is really excessive for a mobile app.
When you answer a question, the correct answer and explanation are shown for about half a second before quitting to the main screen. Given how it’s a five step process to get to assigned quizzes etc, it makes quiz-taking very tedious
App is ok. Would be great with more question bank customization options, the ability to search questions, and most importantly the ability to be used in landscape orientation.
I've reported this is with the last upgrade: I cannot access previous paused quizzes. When I try, the app gets stuck loading... I have to force close the app in order to use it again. The app only works if you create a new quiz and finish the quiz in one sitting.
Having the ability to do questions at any time wherever you are is very important for busy healthcare providers. This app is essentially non-functioning. Regardless of the WiFi connection, it never loads fully. Needs to be optimized and would be worthwhile.
Needs maintenance! The app freezes when trying to load old quizzes to review. Have to take COMLEX in 1 month, and broke my laptop. I was relieved to see that Truelearn has an app only to find out that it doesn’t work. Idk what I am going to do while waiting on my laptop to be fixed. 🙁😫
They said it had added features... there is no added features. It also won’t let you close out of the app during a tutor mode quiz and go back and open up the quiz again. The first version worked flawlessly and I feel for the trick of this “having added features”
The app is not functional on an ipad. I tried looking at a reference chart during a timed test and there was no way to exit the reference chart to return to my test. This is disappointing and not an issue that should occur for a study resource that costs as much as it does.
App doesn’t work currently on iOS. Great quality questions for board review (anesthesia). Terrible phone app. Unable to highlight. Crashes randomly. Unable to select text. Unable to search questions like pc browser version. Needs a lot of work
Better off using the website to access true learn. On the iPad you can’t put the screen in landscape you have to hold the iPad the long way. The highlight function also doesn’t work. They need to think abt the hardware that will be using the program when designing it.
After the most recent update the upper border cannot show the actual end exam button required to submit a test. Only shows the pause and resume later button. Also most of the upper border obscured by the iPhone Dynamic Island.
Used to work flawlessly, after the most recent update I am no longer allowed to look at prior tests or assigned assessments. The loading wheel just spins forever. Hope they fix it because it used to be a helpful app.
Absolutely the worst upgrade ever. The old one worked perfectly. Now I can’t access previously started tests, you have to finish it in one sitting, and I can’t access assigned quizzes. Nothing seems to work. I don’t understand how these issues haven’t been fixed yet.
This app gets worse with every use. The exhibits don’t even show a button anymore, rendering the question useless. Zero way to open the exhibit currently in my session. True learn should be ashamed that they’re trying to help students with this platform. No update in 7 MONTHS should tell you everything you need to know. If you already have trulearn great, use the poorly designed app. But do not buy truelearn if you haven’t already.
For the last several weeks the app has not been able to boot up and won’t load anything. I’ve tried deleting and redownloading all to no avail. This app is horrible.
Downloaded the most recent update and now I cannot use the app in landscape mode. Really annoying for me as a use my iPad like a computer because I don’t have wifi access 99% of the time. Guess I’ll go back to my other Qbanks.
Not sure if anyone else is facing this issue, but despite deleting and redownloading the app, it has been entirely unusable (blank dashboard, blank previous tests) since June. Bummer!
I’m surprised I have to write this review, but making the test bank unable to go into landscape mode is WILD. How was that not one of the essential features you build into the app? This app is literally significantly worse than the previous one.
Doesn’t let me even login. Told my university and they are thinking of not buying the subscription next semester since students can’t easily access content on their phones.
