Good
Positives. Good app. Does job well. Lessons built in strict and logical progression, each section progressing within rows, letters, combinations of letters, hands, words. Games are fun. Syncs with website allowing practice anywhere, including work during downtime. Prompt response to support queries. Negatives. A bit boring at times due to repetitive format of lessons. Games are fun but don't necessarily take into account level of proficiency. Sometimes videos crash app. After 3 lessons in a row app slows down. Not updated often enough to correct bugs. Recommend highly.

Bug makes app unusable
There is a bug that needs to be fixed. When an error is made no other key can be pressed for approximately 8 seconds. This absolutely kills any speed or progress. I tried changing any of the settings that seemed related to making errors but it didn’t seem to help at all. Too bad, it seemed like one of the better products in this category but it’s unusable in it’s current state. Using latest iOS on iPad with a bluetooth keyboard.

Super glitchy
I can’t type a word before the screen freezes and then it say that I pressed all the wrong keys when really, I’ve pushed all the right ones . Also, it will not update my avatar. AND it refuses to let me level up . I am disappointed in this app. Please fix the glitches.

Very great and efficient!!!
Great app!! I love using this to teach my kids how to type well. I homeschool my children and this is just a really great way for them to get into typing in the correct way, but also very efficiently. I do wish they would allow more things to do right away. I don’t have a subscription because I just Started, but I do wish that they had better things at first. Alsd…. I wish that they could have more than one profile. I have 3 of my children using the app, and they will be at there own pace. So more profile options plz!!!!!

Freezes after each course
I’ve not had this issue with the Desktop or the web version of this course, however, the IOS app keeps freezing after each practise course. The page for the course will come, telling me to ‘Type these words’ and there are no words, Tor the words for the top or bottom row will appear, but when I’m typing , it wont register any words, and it it registers any words it does so after I’m done typing a few sets. I have to close the app, and reopen the app to get it to work, and it’s back to it’s usual after another course. This freezing and incredible lag alone has made it impossible to use the app at any length. Also, the sound setting doesn’t work, I’ve set it to off, and yet it blares out loud every time I’m done with a course.

Great app
It really is a helpful way to learn to type. I do have one critique, though. I used to use TapTyping, which showed me a diagram illustrating which keys I had messed up/ done well on. I think that would be a great feature to add to this app (maybe in an update).

There’re must be better app than this
Don’t try it. It crashes every time I finish one or two practices or games. I am using iPad Pro 2018, and it’s so buggy that it makes my iPad feel old. The basic practice contents are fine, but there is no texts that you can practice on, i.e. there’s only random words or string of alphabet, not even phrases. I’ve been using this by reopening the app or going back to home menu and restart the course over and over, but now I’m out of patience. I’ll try different typing app, TapTyping; it seems it has better review. So if you’re reading this, save your time and money and try other app than this one.

It’s never late
I though at age over 66, like I’m at right now, I won’t be able to learn typing ever; it’s too late. If you missed the opportunity in grammer school then you are out of luck. But with Typesy and regular excercises you have a chance to catch up with you grandkids - at least up to a moderate rate. I recommend Typesy to anyone regardless of age, especially those who never learned typing in school with help of a teacher. You are going to enjoy it just don’t give up after the first few days. The big advantage of self-teaching yourself is, even if you are not able to go above let’s say 30 words/minute speed, you still won’t get a bad grade :-)

IF IT WASN’T FOR THE BUGS AND CRASHES...
If it wasn’t for the bugs and crashes I would give five stars and recommend the app to family and friends. To be fare, I am using an 4th generation 2020 iPad Pro connected to a Bluetooth keyboard. Maybe the Typesy App is not updated or designed for my iOS device. Generally I tell other students to try to find a better typing course app before trying Typesy but that Typesy App is great if it wasn’t ...well it’s in the title.

Doesn’t get boring, let’s you pause
I am learning to touch type as an adult, anf I am finding it challenging after decades of hunting and pecking! But Typesy lets me pause the activites and resume later. That makes it possible for me to squeeze in practice throughout my busy day. Typesy also keeps each activity short, then changes to a different type of practice activity. In this way, I don’t get bored. Although I have reverted to hunting and pecking to type this review, I am confident that when I finish more modules in Typesy, I will be touch typing with ease!!

I was having fun at certain points…
There is a popup that constantly pops up that says my game is paused in the middle of me typing. And now the popup is making it impossible to finish a course and I’ve become very discouraged. I spent $14-$15 to unlock all the courses and now I’m annoyed since I’m having this problem It’s really unfortunate cause I really like the progress as a whole.

Great app when it works...
The app is great, however extremely buggy and unstable (iPad Pro 2018). When it works it’s wonderful and it’s a wonderful way to hypothetically learn how to type-however constantly crashes or freezes, while developers ignore the problems or are unable to solve the glitches as it has been going on for a while.

Awful communication
How much does this thing cost? It says $14 but is that per year, per month, every 3 years? I want to buy the content because my kids love it, and it’s hard to find good educational apps that are fun, but I can’t purchase something that doesn’t tell me how much it actually costs.

Four stars for the app. Buying was confusing, here’s how!
I wanted to write this review to relate my experience in purchasing the Typesy app. I was a little confused in the buying process—as I first tried to buy this iOS iPad app first. Once I got the app installed on computers and now understand, I think the app itself seems very good. Four starts or higher. We’re just starting so this is no big review. The buying process, two stars or lower. I purchased this app for my wife and granddaughter who I babysit. THE APP. Once the app is installed, you get a dashboard with your user account. Stats, progress. To get started, I clicked on the Courses button and followed the process. The learning is a combination of videos, interactive typing, games, and prompts. I like the program so far. My granddaughter was up and running quickly. The app quality is very high. TIPS: (1) Each user should have their own “sign in” (need to know the email and the password) to take their own individual course. Once you are logged in, it remembers who you are and your progress. (2) Remember that pressing the Space Bar on Mac while watching a video, pauses, starts, and stops the video (3) If you are having trouble with accuracy and speed in the beginning, lower these settings a little. You can raise them later. The program will prompt you to repeat exercises when you make too many mistakes. Young kids will make mistakes with hitting the space bar in the wrong place—the program is good at showing you correct vs. incorrect typing. REAL TOUCH TYPING. You are buying this app to TOUCH TYPE on a REAL KEYBOARD (sorry for the emphasis). An Apple or Bluetooth keyboard for the iPad, and your real keyboard for your computer. You are not buying this to learn to type on the touch screen virtual keyboard. DESKTOP VERSION. Think of this as buying and paying for a license to use the desktop version of the app—Mac, WIndows, Web based. $30 full price. $26 with 10% off. I believe, You can install the app for up to five authorized users (on a single computer or on multiple computers) and a certain number of IOS devices. You need an activation code for all of this, which you get emailed when you buy the desktop or web version license. The iOS app asks for this activation code which is mailed to you. IOS VERSION. I do not think you can buy and use the iOS app without first setting up your basic account. For myself, desktop install worked. I then considered the iOS app free. Maybe the chat agent (at Typesy.com) has an iOS only procedure. HOW TO BUY. I went to Typesy.com and selected the Individual license app. Enter your name, email, and payment information. Write all of this down. There is often a helpful chat person on the Typesy site to help. I was confused as to installing the software on two computers, the iOS buying. The chat people were helpful and they gave me 10% off. In my opinion, once again, if you look at this like you are buying the desktop license for up to five users and a few iOS activations, then it feels like a very good value. Especially since the app seems to be quite good. A traditional, paid, learn-to-type program. $30 for just an iPad version would be expensive. INSTALLING on SECOND COMPUTER. Confusing in how to do. I went back to Typesy.com and looked for a Download software button but could not find one. When you say buy an individual license, you get the credit card charge screen. Do not buy the software again. Get the chat agent, explain you bought the software and want to put it on a second computer. They will send you a link. Even better, copy the installer file onto the second computer, install it, and enter the activation code. MORE THAN ONE USER ACCOUNT. A little more confusion. After you set up your first main account (myself for learning the admin), you can add your children to your account so that each person has their own course and tracking and progress pace. Instead of signing in with your account log in, click on Create Account and enter their name, email (use yours if they are young) and password—remember and write all this down. Then you are prompted for the activation code. NO FREE TRIAL. There is apparently no free trial here, maybe due to piracy but the company website does offer a money-back guarantee. I think the company may need to find a way to make less confusing — how the licensing and installs work. I LIKE THE APP. Once I understood all of this, I think the app is a very good one. I’m not an expert but my wife and granddaughter are learning to type. Sorry for the long post. Bye. // INSTALL and CREATE an ACCOUNT Download and install the software on your computer

Repeated technical issues for a mediocre learning experience at best
As I’m coming to the end of my allotted half hour of practice without managing to even get started in Typesy, I figure I might at least get some typing done by writing this long overdue review. The positive first: when it actually works, it’s… OK. I supposedly have a paid “lifetime” subscription (since 2020) which resulted in 2 things: - Constant nagging to pay more for “VIP” services and/or other subscriptions. - Deliberate hurdles to cancellation, like a privacy violation by being required to submit my phone number (unsurprisingly not required when signing up…) just to get a rep *call me* for a hard retention sell. Now the app specifically: it’s a glorified web page/site. One that until about 6 months ago was barely maintained and didn’t even use the iPad’s native resolution, and resulted in loading times so long that the 30 second exercise was over before it even managed to load the interactive keyboard underneath… On a setup that at the very *same time* had no problem connecting to other online services. Same issues at the same time on the web version, on multiple platforms including Windows. Clearly server-side issues, but must be user error according to support. Forward to early November 2021, and finally regular updates & some hope of improvements. Except it’s still the same old: A tiny app that is presenting a glorified web page. At this time not even the login works correctly with the Apple (iPadOS 15) keychain, you have to manually copy & paste it in, or even just type it. Then the login starts to continually fail with “Something’s not right. Try again later” - identically in the “app” and on their web site. Even though I have the correct login for sure (used many times before, using a password manager) I decide to try a “Forgot password” anyway - which doesn’t work either. Clearly once again server-side issues but at least this time I won’t waste anymore time with their “support”. The typing practice for this review is the last I wasted on Typesy. Back to Typing Club, which I used for almost a year (paid) without a hitch, and where even the free version runs circles around this (no app needed, works great on iPad Safari)

Don’t spend money on the upgrade!
I spent the $14.99 to access all courses. However, the courses still aren’t accessible. I attempt to purchase, and it says I’ve already subscribed—but when I try to use the courses, it says that I need to upgrade. So, I can’t upgrade (because it says I’ve already subscribed) but I also can’t use it (because it says I haven’t upgraded).

Beware! No apparent Free Sample Version
Beware!!! It appears you need an activation code to use this app. After download the app, your FULL name, e-mail and a password are required for set up then after hitting enter it prompts you for your access code and won’t let you go further without one. I initially believed this would be a free trial version to sample prior to spending roughly $15 on this app, however, it won’t let me use it or log in without an access code. I could not locate any instructions about how or where to get the required access code.
