Best platform to study for NCLEX!

I bought the 90 day uWorld with three practice assessments. There’s videos and flashcards you could make. I suggest using this platform in the computer as it is easier to control and manage but I passed my LPN NCLEX on the first time thanks to their varied study bank of questions and videos! In my first assessment i got a very high chance of passing and the CAT exams also said I had a high chance of passing. I got to question 105 in my NCLEX.

Great but needs small improvements here and there

I think this app is a great representation of the website version. It’s useful to have on phone when on rotations like OB, for example, where the next delivery will be 4 hours later. I use the iPad version a lot and I think it looks and works really well. However, I think it needs more functions when using a magic keyboard with the iPad though. It would be nice if when swiping with two fingers on the trackpad would go to next question. Also when highlighting things, it currently requires a two finger tap with trackpad. It’d be nice if like on the desktop version it highlighted automatically. These are small things but would really be nice to have.

Highlighting Not Working

Update: months later in 2021 I still can’t highlight answer explanations. I’m looking back at reviews from 2years ago asking uworld to fix the ability to highlight text on the iPad of answer explanations with replies from the developer that they’re working on it… let me repeat this again, from 2 years ago. Months ago: With as expensive as this Q bank is there’s less patience for faults in software like the highlighting feature not working. On an IPad Pro the app itself doesn’t even allow you to highlight and on the website (full web version) you can highlight the question, but not the explanation even though you see the yellow highlight circle when you select text.

Display of lab values is terrible and a deal breaker

The method by which this app displays lab values is a deal breaker for me. It covers the question text and does’t allow simultaneous highlighting of the text which mandates a total change in how I handle timed questions. Worse, any movement of the lab values window or scrolling within that window is lost once the window is closed (to highlight text etc) and reopened. There is enough room on an iPad screen to put the lab values side by side like on a pc. Alternatively, show the lab value window while allowing interaction with the question text and answer choices and save the pane and the place last scrolled to when the window is reopened within the same question. These issues don’t allow me to use this app at all in timed mode. Only untimed or review. Please fix! This is still an issue months later

Good app but extra features would make it better

I love using UWorld. The questions and explanations are top tier, and the images are great. I only wish there could be a function to write notes in the margins when using my iPad. I think that would be a game changer for studying. I don’t really find the notebook feature to be very helpful. I think being able to write in the margins and draw things out on my own within the app would add to the active learning piece and allow for even more engagement with the information

Inconsistent pricing and offering on mobile vs computer based uworld

I purchased 90 day access to step 3 qbank on the mobile app for $499 believing that it would include the ccs cases that are so important for step 3 studying. Today I went onto the uworld website on my desktop to look for the ccs cases I thought would be included only to discover that they were not included in my subscription! Additionally a 90 day access subscription to the step 3 qbank WITH the ccs cases and the 2 self assessment forms is actually 100 dollars LESS on the desktop version at $399. I have so far not heard back from uworld about this discrepancy. This feels very unfair that the cost is extra and I did not get the CCS cases with my subscription.

Best Description of answers.

I am an International Medical Graduate..doing my very best to try ace my forthcoming exam. Doing Uworld as given me some eye opener to my weaknesses and hopefully I will achieve my aim of scoring very high. I pray I score above 260. Laughable but possible through Uworld. It’s been a great, great tool! Good pictures too! I wonder if those behind this uworld are “aliens” that are too meticulous to be true. I hope there will be more videos added to Uworld in the future too. God bless Uworld and bless my sweats!

Does NOT work with Apple Magic Keyboard/Trackpad for iPad

Super annoying that trackpad doesn't work with this app. If, for example, you try to click on option A, the cursor will randomly drop down to option C making it impossible to click option A with the trackpad. This then forces me to use the touch screen to click on answer options. The only clue I have is that, when the cursor drops down like that, it changes shape from the circle cursor to the single line cursor (as though select text). I don't know why the change in shape causes change in coordinates, but this needs to be fixed! THEY NEED TO TEST THIS APP ON THE APPLE MAGIC KEYBOARD FOR IPAD BECAUSE IT DOES NOT WORK FOR TRACKPAD!!!

Too many bugs, reported but never fixed

I have reported bugs with highlighting, scrolling, the magnifier, and many other problems with this app through the Uworld Support email. Still no changes every time the app updates with bug fixes. The content in UWorld is amazing, but the iPad and iPhone app suffer from the same issues (again, highlighting, scroll glitching when you highlight too close to the top of the page, and highlighter button going missing if you highlight too fast), and I can’t give a good rating to this app when the developers are doing NOTHING to fix these issues. Already reported these bugs to the developers through email, nothing changes.

External keyboard issues

Great app. Was excited with the new notebook feature. However I am not able to type notes into the notebook using an external keyboard on my iPad. I am only able to type notes when using the screen keyboard. Would really appreciate being able to type into the notebook using an external keyboard. Please fix this. Thank you!

New update

After the recent update, I’ve had trouble highlighting text on my ipad. When I highlight it, the window scrolls up uncontrollably and if I scroll back down, the words flicker and it moves back up. I can only fix it by pressing the arrow key to the previous or next question and then going back.

Pretty good but can continue to improve.

Off the top of my head I can say that this app is very helpful when away from your computer. The speed of notes and navigation is irrefutably faster on a PC/Mac platform + mouse but this a great way to get away from the craziness and review on the beach. I wish there was the ability to use a graphic or table and make additional notes on the same side of the flash card. Maybe you can but I haven’t figured it out yet.

Randomly answers certain questions for me

This is a recent bug for me using this app. Sometimes when I answer a question and quickly move on to the next one, the letter choice from the previous question would somehow get carried over to the next question. I know I didn’t pick the answer myself because the time spent on that question would always be 0 seconds. It’s been very frustrating but also happens intermittently enough that I do not know how to reproduce the issue to fix it.

Overall good, with one improvement

It’s a great app and I especially love that you can put it in dark mode, which is helpful for late night/early morning questions. It’s super easy to use on-the-go. I do wish that you could select multiple pools of questions (e.g. unused AND incorrects) like you can on the desktop version. Not being able to do so has really foiled my study plans several times…..

Good knowledge & test base, awful app with bugs

I sent emails several times to the support group of UW and once even had a screen sharing session where I showed 3 or 4 bugs on Mac, Windows, iOS. It was about half a year ago and nothing changed. The main problem is: currently, text/images cannot be saved to different side of the flashcard if one side is already added. Ipad is almost replacing the laptops and PCs, but the application doesn’t allow you to select anything at all after you added some graph or a part of explanation to one side of the flashcard.

Great app but need keyboard support

The UWorld app is a pretty good way to access the Qbank. However, this app doesn’t support control with an external keyboard or even the magicKeyboard of iPad. Since I put my iPad on a stand while using this app (and I believe many would do the same), it is very inconvenient to touch on the screen and navigate among different questions. I would definitely rate this app with a big FIVE STARS if the developers can add external keyboard support to this great app.

Good start

I have been using this app for two days. I think that it is good because it has a lot of tools that help us in our achievements. I recommend it to people who wants to prepare the USMLE steps and to improve the medical knowledge

Used to be good

Used it for Step 1/2 prep and during 3 I believe they took away the desktop app and made it online only. Ever since then, the mobile apps have been not working so well on apple devices. I want to access my IM board question bank, but it’s not available on mobile. Pretty useless to have this installed on my phone if I can’t do questions while on the go.

Amazing questions, well designed app

The only critique I have is that the answers could be improved somewhat. Oftentimes the explanations feel lazy “This is the correct answer because this is the correct answer” type explanations are frequent and don’t really help students distinguish between why one answer choice is superior to another. In this respect, AMBOSS is much better.

Fixes

I love the program thus far, but would appreciate being able to use cloze deletions when making cards. The text on my phone screen is also very small, so it would be useful to be able to adjust the size of the text (w/ a few different option available).

1. Make the apple pencil= always highlight, so I can navigate with fingers and highlight with apple pen. 2. Make lab values a side bar like in the computer app. 3. Fix dark mode. This 3 simple things are my only complaints and the same complaints everyone in my class has. You will make hundreds of customers happy. Please

Will improve my rating when UWorld extends subscriptions due to COVID-19 test cancellations

Great app. I will improve my rating once UWorld offers courtesy extensions for students whose accounts expire in June-August 2020. Currently, UWorld has only offered extensions for accounts expiring in April and May, but the majority of students whose Step exams were canceled (a third of my 200-person class, for example) have been forced to reschedule in late summer/early fall. Considering that UWorld is extremely pricey compared with other study aids, I don’t think it would break the bank.

Mis-registering answer selections

I have noticed that for every 40-question block I submit, I receive an initial score that corresponds to the answers I actually selected. When I log in at a later time, it gives me a completely different overall score for the block and displays that I selected answers that I did not in fact select. This makes it very difficult to track my progress- both overall and in specific subjects. I paid $500 for this service and I expect it to work.

When I login I get a shopping car blocking my question bank.

I have more than a week that I login from the app and I get a shopping car blocking my ability to start a new test or review previous test. My subscription have 11 more months. I can use the program from my phone. I can login thought safari without problem. It happens only with application.

Recent update made this app frustrating

This is not a review of UWorlds content, more this app in particular. The most recent update has made UI exceptionally buggy. Highlighting is frustrating and a nightmare, trying to highlight multiple lines at once will send the cursor flying offscreen, and sometimes the option to highlight won’t even come up after you’ve selected a block of text. Additionally, the question list on the left side of the screen, while fine before, NOW doesn’t highlight the question you’re on, but instead highlights the question you were on previously. The app was fine for the most part beforehand, whatever the dev team did made it miles worse with their “down-date.”

Very handy

This app definitely came in handy when I wanted to answer questions on the go. I didn’t have any issues with it throughout my time using it. Would definitely recommend it.

would be fantastic if DISCARD button fixed

this app would be amazing if the Discard option wasn’t so repeatedly presented, which results in accidentally pressing the discard button and losing that test. Every single time you open the app, it gives you the option to resume or discard. And the discard button is located on the right which means it’s easier to press on accident.

Good content, bad app

The question, answers, and night mode are great, but functionality of the app is severely limited. The flash card feature is simply useless and there’s no ability to highlight and search for key words, either within the app or through google. Also the copyright restrictions prevent copying and pasting so you can’t even highlight a term, then copy and paste it into a note, search engine, or different flash card app.

Convenient

The app is nice to have but would be GREAT if there was a flash card option that was automatically generated based on questions and topics that were answered incorrectly. Many residents use a program during the day to quickly look through flash cards and makes me wish uworld had this.

Keeps getting stuck

The application keeps getting stuck!! My progress in tests does not get saves and I have to repeat tests all over again. Also, many times media won’t open (despite making sure nothing’s wrong with my internet connection). Please try to solve this issue ASAP. Thanks!

The phone app interface needs to change

The browser interface is amazing and easily used either for solving questions or making flash cards. While the phone application needs to be more user friendly especially in the notebook and flash cards aspect.

FIX HIGHLIGHTING

Please fix highlighting on iOS iPhone app. Ability to highlight selected text repeatedly fails to appear in selection menu even though highlighting setting is turned on. The only workaround is to go into test settings, toggle multicolor highlighting off then on, and then highlighting ability is restored. This bug occurs every few questions when reviewing a given test.

Not compatible with screen share or multiple screens

It’s almost 2021, why can’t I do uworld questions on my TV from the couch, or pull them up on the projector from my phone through AirPlay? Don’t say it’s for security because pc can cast the content and display it on multi monitor setups as well. Why the stigma against mobile devices? If people wanted to steal your content bad enough, they’d know how to do it and not get caught. You’re only hurting your paying customers with these policies.

Can’t see tags on Flashcards

When using the Flashcards, it does not display all of the tags for that notecard and unless you go into that specific card to edit it, you cannot tell what that card was tagged as, beyond the first 9 letters or so of the first tag. This issue has been fixed on the computer but has yet to be addressed on the mobile or tablet app. There is a huge blank space following the cut off tag, and the remaining tags could easily fit in that space.

Best bank ever

Helped me get a 270+ on step 1 hoping for same on step two. The bank seems even more critical for step two due to the lack of good review books. Keep up good work uworld!!! You put all other banks to shame

Highlight function is broken for months, is anyone even listening?

You need to highlight text multiple times in order to get that highlight option, sometimes an empty box shows up which does nothing upon clicking. Developers, please for the love of God, see it for yourselves by installing it on your iPad as an end user. This has been a major issue I have been facing for months! And no one bats an eye for a huge premium paid.

Solid app

Great app, best app user interface of the other Step1 Qbanks I’ve used. It would be great if the app could recognize the apple pen for highlighting as soon as you scroll over text with the pen tip instead of having to double tap and “hold down” the pen. But overall, really solid app

Cannot hightlight using the apple magic keyboard.

Although i love the app but cant really use a mouse or the trackpad that comes with the apple magic keyboard to highlight the text. Please push an update that lets us highlight text with a trackpad/mouse on the ipad.

Could be better

I appreciate Uworld, and their questions are fantastic. But this app has some issues. The search function is useless and does not work for question ID numbers or keywords. Additionally, the flashcards function is a bit laggy and takes a long time to load.

Issues with selected answers

It randomly keeps omitting my answers. I don't even know until after the exam if it did or didn't. Also seems to randomly have an answer different than what I selected which is a nuisance when going back to read my choices. Highlighting is a pain in the app and swiping side to side to the next question sometimes works but most of the time it doesn't.

Needs offline support

The strength of the Amboss mobile app is that question blocks can be made and downloaded to be used internet connection, such as on a flight or road trip. Limiting this function makes the UWorld app significantly less useful.

Frustrating experience

For STEP 3- the questions were nothing like the exam (still got in the 260’s). They’re more similar to board/ITE questions. Less errors than the ABIM UWorld. compliments to whoever wrote the endocrine question because it’s very clear you read the guidelines (I check question by question). You should get a raise

Great app! Amazing content and questions! But app crashes when notebook is full and has reached its word limit. Rather it should display message that new notebook be created instead.

Apple Pencil support for highlighting and note taking

Highlighting on iPad is so cumbersome because I have to tap everything twice. Please add Apple Pencil support for highlighting with direct selection. It will be much easier and helpful.

Please bring split screen view to iPad app!

The split-screen view in the web client that permits simultaneous viewing of the question and the explanation is incredibly helpful—I’ll be using that in Safari until this app gains that functionality!

The best qBank for step1, but not the best app...

Uworld has the market cornered as far as step 1 preparation goes. Their questions and explanations are in general, excellent. However, the app is kinda buggy. It freezes fairly often (more than once a week) and sometimes resets the timer for no apparent reason.
