Our son recommended this app for our Vienna trip. It's convenient and very easy to use. I don't need worry about how much data were used because it didn't need wifi. Best of all, it's free. Thanks.
I loved this app. I used it twise in Vienna and it helped a lot. Better workes with internet but used it it without to. Helps to get to the spots, shows directions and its easy to mark spots you are intereseted in on map.
Creates lists (which I can do anywhere) and provides a basis map which doesn't work as well as google maps and doesn't show the items on your list. So what is the point? I think they wanted to show a map with the items you had selected to visit, but the feature doesn't work. I don't have anymore time to waste on it.
The guide is comprehensive, and the maps were helpful because we could access them online. I'd suggest adding directions (shortest and fastest routes, etc.). Overall, a very good guide.
I downloaded the Ulmon guide for four cities in preparation for a recent trip to Europe: Munich Prague Vienna and Amsterdam. You can drop pins, actually stars on places that you're interested in visiting including sites restaurants hotels etc. The off-line maps are fantastic and the articles helpful. I tend to keep my phone on airplane mode when I am out of the United States this app was fantastic because I was able to use the map even when I wasn't in Wi-Fi. Download the guides before you go on your trip if possible this way you can read and save articles but if you don't download it until you're there that's fine too.
Usually don't rate apps but after a trip to Europe using this offline maps, I can asure you, this app will make your trip easier and you won't miss any important spot in the city. I used London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Venice, Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon! In Budapest I felt lost because they don't have a map for this city but Google also doesn't have a map for Budapest offline. I'll put 6 stars but I can't so 5 it's the closest. One more thing, all this is for FREE! And this is not all, also you can download the information about the historic places in the city and then you can get the info offline. You have to try it!!
We have used this app constantly offline for our week in Vienna. It is better and more convenient than any paper map or other app(we tried others) that we have seen. It shows public transport and even trails. We used it in the central area and in the woods. We did not turn on data roaming but If you did it would be even more spectacular. A local SIM card in an unlocked phone would be very nice with this.
This app has great offline features that guided me around Vienna for 3 days with out getting lost! This was a great supplement to my guide book and maps. The offline wiki was great for self walking tours. The offline map is an absolute must for any traveler and this app covers the most common tourist attractions you'd visit. The Ubahn and tram stops are so helpful for getting around.
The map is fully useable offline; mysteriously, it is even able to track your location. (I had no service in Austria, so I know I was offline. I also kept it in airplane mode to avoid weird charges.) Plus, all the major monuments have articles which are also accessible offline.
Used this app in Vienna and would have been lost without it. I didn't realize until the last day that you could click on a site and it would give lots of useful information. Awesome app that works without Internet. Wouldn't travel without this app to Vienna.
Assumed I could get good paper maps while in Vienna like I could 30 years ago. Guess what you can't. We struggled for two days before we found this app. Combines streets, points of interest and best of all public transportation routes! Has all the detail needed. Great app!
There is nothing bad I can say about this map. I would even pay for it! I downloaded it before I hopped on the plane for Vienna and it saved me by having the map available offline--and, it was accurate! It has been the best tool I have had here as a traveler!
Great app for walking/running through the city. It locates you offline and is super responsive when magnifying. Many sites, restaurants and shops are listed. Would love the next update to allow you to tag a site as seen or to see.
Realy great app! We spent week at Vienna and we had found everything what we wanted. The best thing is, that it is offline and you can save data and places which you want to visit in the future. I reccomend it to any Vienna tourist :)
I've used this App in Paris (different version for each city) and Vienna. It works well and I've come to depend on it. I would like to see more cities added (going to Budapest next and they don't have a version yet).
Used this a ton to get around. Amazing because iPhone 5 (maybe others) has gps even when on airplane mode and not connected to wifi. Loved this offline!!
This was our first time in Vienna but we felt like we have been there many times with this extremely useful easy to use and friendly app I recommended to everybody
What a great resource! I don't even carry a map any more. Plus, the ability to make an account and link my Pins & Bookmarks between iPad & iPhone adds to the convenience.
This is a great app and set of apps. Usable without wifi or cell coverage. Used extensively for street locations. Search does not recognize parks or other types of open spaces unless they are really popular tourist spots.
It is a really great app for tourists. I have one sugestion to add turn by turn navigation. And you can also add map of public transport info into description how to get to selected destination.
Preload your destinations and you are all set for days of sight seeing. You can also track those pesky cabbies and make sure they are not taking the long way around
I used the Vienna, London and Paris guides. Loved them. Intelligently designed. Fast and beautiful interface. Full of useful info. I wish they become "The Guide" for travelers.
Since the historical content is just links to Wikipedia sites, you need an Internet data plan (or a wifi spot) to make use of this app. Plus, the map is slow to load and difficult to use.
