I really enjoyed the look of this app. Unfortunately it is not working on my IPAD anymore. I hope the developers update this app soon or at least take it down to omit the false hope of new people trying to legitimately access the app for study. Thank you very much.
I didn't have any login issues since i listened to other users and followed the simple instructions. The app itself is well made. I use it constantly and it's a smooth experience. I don't even login on the site, i just use this. It allows me to review whenever, and it makes it that much easier to follow through. My thanks to the developer for this app!
For those having log in problems, you have to go to the wanikani website, go to API tokens and then go to the very bottom and click generate if there isn’t a token there already. Then open this app and log in. Works great, same as the website interface and sends you a notification when you have new reviews.
Love this app, have had it for years. But I think a new update messed something up because I’m also having issues logging in and before that nothing would load. So...hopefully that’ll be fixed soon.
I used to use this app forever ago, but when I went to start it again recently, it wouldn’t launch. Not sure if it’s my phone/the new update on the phone, but it just refuses to open. Even after restarting my phone and force closing the app, it still wouldn’t. From what I remember, the app is really solid to use. I’m just not able to at the moment.
Took me a bit to figure out how to login, but thankfully there were some users comments that helped! This app is amazing, I really appreciate the effort they put into it to allow us to continue on the go. And there's no ads. Talk about awesome. 👌
Pretty bad when you launch an app and half of the users on this platform can not log in. Makes it seem extremely unprofessional when a 3rd party companion app works for everyone and smoothly. I have a 2 week old brand new iPhone 11 Max Pro with the latest software, hard to imagine its me. Good luck fixing it if your care at all that is. Or just take it off the store honestly, would save majority of your users time.
Is this app even being developed/updated anymore? We’ve gotten so many iOS updates and this app hasn’t been updated in 3yrs. Can’t it just be removed from the App Store since it doesn’t even open? I remember I got pretty far on this course when I first got it, now I bought an annual subscription and it’s a bummer I can’t practice on the go.
I’m bought in to this system but the app is hard to use because the text is very small and doesn’t adjust or zoom with the phone’s settings. Rudimentary settings options, no way to customize display or alerts.
This application would probably be really useful, however, I haven’t even been able to open it. Every time I open it, it kicks me out immediately. I’ve read other reviews saying the same so it has to be something of the application not the devices. I’m rating this 3 stars because I haven’t even tried the application, which is part of the problem. But once it’s fixed & I've tried it I will write another review. Please fix this and thank you.
Couldn’t get past the doge, tried the API thing and it still didn’t work, downloaded the app on my iPad to try again, STILL DIDN’T WORK, bruh what is the problem
The app instantly crashes and doesn’t work at all. I deleted it and reinstalled it and the same thing happens. When I say instant, it’s open for, maybe, a second.
It seems like they may have a glitch in the “logging in” aspect, because the dog just starts spinning and doesn’t stop. I’m looking forward to it working though and will give an updated review when it does..
The website works fine but now I wanted to try the app. I am not able to log into and therefore the app is completely useless. Why bother when one cannot even log into it?
Wish this app would get new life breathed into It and it functioned as great and was as helpful as the website itself (because that’s great). Give this under-appreciated bad boy some love!
I am using an iPhoneX and was hoping for a phone based app for the phone. App launches to a login prompt and seems to take the info but only spins a dog image and does nothing else.
I'll start with the cons since I feel that they would make the experience substantially better: 1) Take the time to make this a "real" app and not just a mobile-formatted web page. 2) Add an offline mode - everyone has this and there's not reason for a potentially great app like this not to. 3) Provide an ignore feature in the app. Those that are starting with prior experience don't want to waste their time having basic numerals in their deck "一、二、三、四、 etc." it already takes long enough to complete all the reviews. 4) Provide an option to limit the max number of reviews assigned each day. It can be discouraging if someone is out a couple days and comes back to hundreds of reviews pending. Now the pros: 1) Having studied Japanese off and on for years, this is by far the best method to memorize kanji and the multiple readings. 2) The stories that go along with the Kanji, although silly, help memory recollection. 3) Example sentences are included to help convey context. Ok, now Koichi, get your developers to do some work please!
