App needs to be updated and made a little more user friendly. I have a user friendly head unit and app does not work as it is supposed to. Hopefully someone will actually care and step up and fix everything once and for all. One can only hope.
My head unit used to work with my iPhone and would pull up CarPlay and now all of a sudden it doesn’t work. I got my phone to hook up through Bluetooth, but the sound quality that comes through the Bluetooth feature is terrible. I have the app on my phone for the head unit but it’s pretty much useless. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
I can only say this app is useless. Everything that was advertised with my stereo is untrue. I’d say $400 wasted on what used to be a premium stereo manufacturer at one time. I have a $120 pioneer in my beater and it works way better than my Kenwood. What a disappointment and after 4 years it still is the same Kenwood has never fixed any issues. Almost like the WebLink doesn’t really exist
Kenwood and WebLink are a janky and sloppy combo. Find something else if you want consistency or updates. Ultimately you will find yourself using your smart phone for everything and just being happy if it can manage to simply play your music properly. So your Kenwood touchscreen and its interface,WebLink, and gps, totally are worthless.
Web link used to work great and especially around navigation. Then someone behind the app decided to update the app software, and it’s functionality significantly eroded with regard to IPhone compatibility. Moment I updated, the functional interface eroded. Awesome.
I have a Kenwood DDX6705S and iOS 14.5.1 and this weblink app does not work with it even though it is supposed to. I have even updated the firmware on my head unit to the latest version which is also old from 2019. Kenwood is really dropping the ball on this.
Downloaded the app and it will not connect to my MH. No instructions, no menu item and it leaves nothing working. I will start pushing buttons randomly to see if I can get a reaction.
This app is trash. I so hope you see this before you waste money on a KENWOOD head unit. So confusing, nothing works properly. Finally get it all working right then next time I use it, no longer works.
Have to click allow every time I open my phone to allow the app to run. Very annoying. You have log into the app once you’re in the car and then have to open the WebLink in the car and then select whatever app you want. Which is very few. I use it to check the weather. That’s about all. It has potential to be very nice but some common sense needs to go into the development.
After reading all of the negative reviews about this app, I did some digging and found that the developer who does other apps somewhat somewhere to the house is based out of book area and every single app that they show for this developer is essentially the same reviews as what we have here. It seems like a person is dealing with the same mentality as you might expect from the scammers out of Kenya. I have decided not to buy a Kenwood stereo and instead will go with someone who knows how to make their product work with an app either they developed or they have insured is fully compatible with our product including the iPhones and Androids. I used to really like Kenwood, but will not buy their products anymore because of their piss-poor performance in the app they chose to “control,“ their stereo receiver. So sad to see what once was a terrific company and has now ended up at the bottom of the cesspool. I have more respect for BOSS stereos than Kenwood at this point. I am looking at Sony and Pioneer. Goodbye Kenwood!
Giving this app an entire star is rating it too high. I would love my stereo except I was told by Car Toys to download and use the Kenwood app with it. When I plug my phone in to the USB port, the prompt pops up to “allow” Kenwood‘s app to work with my phone and stereo. Every time I get in the car. It’s like “Groundhog Day” or “50 First Dates”. I accept...then it pops in again within minutes. When it does pop up and I hit “accept”, it goes to the Kenwood app to show “connected”. So it’s left the app I was in, whether it’s my music, my GPS, podcasts, whatever and shows me the black screen of the Kenwood app with a checkmark. Cool. Let’s be done. But no. Every 3-5 minutes, this prompt pops up again to ask if I accept the Kenwood app. So I have to hit “accept”. So i’m looking at my phone to hit except every time this prompt pops up and then I have to look at my phone again to swipe away the Kenwood app (not close it, just move it to the background) so I’m taking my eyes off the road, which is kind of counterproductive to using a hands free device. I’m deleting the app and trying to use the stereo without it. Hopefully that works. If not, I’ll sell the car and not throw good money after bad on this stereo system.
One of the worst apps I’ve ever used. Unstable, buggy, causes problems. At one point, I was sitting in a drive through messing around with this app with my phone plugged into the head unit. No joke, my caution flashers and reverse camera were flashing on and off. No good. Most recently, the “ignore/accept” window that appears on my phone when plugged into the head unit locked me out of my phone for about an hour. Not acceptable. This app has no place on anyone’s phone, especially if it interferes with vehicle functions like mine did. Literally, the worst experience I’ve had with an app. Don’t download this.
The app is fairly useless. You can’t view movies or anything like that using it. It just says unsupported file type. This is using the standard Apple movies I’ve downloaded. Tried on both an iPhone XS Max and an iPhone 7 Plus. Same result for both. Music can be played from your phone to the radio via Bluetooth or via CarPlay so that’s not something this KENWOOD app needs to support really. Overall, this is about as bad as it gets for an app so there’s a LOT of room for major improvements. It’s a shame too because the potential for it is amazing.
-UPDATE- I have yet to see this work properly. Having to leave the app open for everything kind of defeats the purpose of the web link. If I wanted to finger my phone every time I wanted to use an app, I could just go to the app instead of fumbling with this. Maybe someday 🤷🏼♂️ You have to open the app every time you want to use it with the radio. The connection constantly fails. Most apps associated with it don’t work properly or at all. When it does work, it’s nice. However, those occasions are few and far between.
I purchased 2-Kenwood DMX905 head units for use in my daily driver and road trip vehicles. While I absolutely LOVE the head units, the WebLink app leaves a LOT to be desired as it relates to reliable connectivity and operation. When it works, it works well. The problem however is that I constantly get a variety of error messages and the app randomly closes during use. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with this on any kind of ongoing basis. Clearly there is a problem with the app.
The WebLink for KENWOOD app turns your vehicle into a connected car by letting you easily enjoy your favorite apps on the go. Once you’ve downloaded the app, simply use your smartphone to connect to your car’s WebLink-compatible multimedia receiver, and then launch popular supported apps. Ensure you have a WebLink enabled head unit, connect your phone to the head unit with a USB cable, launch the WebLink for KENWOOD app and enjoy.
