Great all around news station

I moved to the Poconos (NEPA as it’s called) about 9 years ago. Ever since the first morning show I watched, I was hooked. The great forecast and the morning meteorologist Joe Snedeker were awesome! He is so in tune to meteorology and informing the viewers about his passion. Not only is he a great teacher for the viewers, he’s a very inventive guy. His morning pointing themes are great along with his graphics (especially Lord Cluckington). He’s, by far, my favorite weatherman! Also, my favorite newscaster would be Mindi Ramsey. She’s very fun but also down to earth. The other newscasters are great also. I love the little snippets each night. Overall, this is a great news program to watch. Just don’t listen to the session of “Talkback 16”. This people that call in can be a real pain in the you know what. 😉

Developed for advertising and not user focused

The new app is difficult and confusing. It’s been developed for advertisers and not news, content, weather or the end user. Plus the splash screen is truly annoying. I already know what app I’ve opened and I know if it’s morning, afternoon, or night. When I open an app, especially a news app, I want the data I’m looking for as quickly as possible. Just removing the splash screen animation and having the app open straight to the news would improve this app to three stars for me. For now I’ve gone back a decade and just put a bookmark to the webpage on my phone instead of using the app. The WTSP app from 10 news out of Tampa was another unfortunate casualty of this design. The old WNEP app was very good, albeit outdated, it functioned well and did the job of presenting the user with data phenomenally. Plus why are you only allowed five saved locations for weather? I used the old WNEP app all over the country and if traveling I could store locations I travel to frequently. But the new app is limited to only five. It doesn’t even make logical sense. Why would you want someone to use another app that meets their needs and purposely cost yourselves ad revenue? I mean based on the barrage of ads on the new app you make it obvious that they are a major part of WNEP’s future.

WNEP

I just love WNEP and all of the people who work there. You all complete my day. Always look forward to all of the antics and the great reporting. I have to say that Jeremy is a great addition to the team. I love his way of reporting the weather and what a Snappy Dresser. I love all of his outfits and look forward to seeing a lot more. He has excellent taste in clothing. Keep up the great work everyone ! WNEP, the only news station that I watch and depend on for reporting the news. Would love to meet Ranger someday and Roco. Hope to meet some of you at the Bloomsburg Fair. Have a great day everyone !

New WNEP App

I didn’t like the app at first, but, with using it more I am finding more options particularly with the weather section. I am still getting used to the app and liking it the more I use it. I like the one app verses two apps. However, I have an issue with my location button, it doesn’t let me display my location marker. I get a pop up banner that says turn on location services, which I have turned on. I don’t like that the Moosic location can not be deleted. Also, I get notifications other than the weather even though I just have the weather switch turn on. I’d give the app a 5 if these issues were resolved.

Great local news station

Thank you for delivering consistent, up to date news and happenings around your coverage area! I enjoy the various news casters and special teams who have been true to their craft for many years. I’m saddened by the career changes of those who have moved on, however, I’m aware every person needs to do what is best for their families and circumstances. The weather team does an exceptional job during weather events as well as daily reporting. Overall, Newswatch 16 is my go to for all content.

Your are all a well organized operation, always smiling and having a Fantastic sense of Humor . Now , you keep putting in the same pet pictures, I had sent in My dog Chelsey in her Red hat , for pet slide show a few times and it was said you received it . WNEP

We are on Blue Ridge cable and as of April 1 we no longer receive WNEP through our cable. We are greatly disappointed with their decision because we were faithfulwatchers and especially loved the morning show. We loved this channel also because all the commentators (news, weather, sports, etc) seem so down to earth unlike the main channels like abc, cnn, etc. Blue Ridge has told us because WNEP is out of market and they said your increase of 60% was too much to pass on to customers. I just have a hard time believing that your station would have that much of an increase and the main channel would not. I don’t know much about the FCC and their rules, but if I could, I would exchange 50 channels that I don’t watch for WNEP. I am watching your station now on my iPad and will continue to do so. Morning news on app

I watch WNEP via the app every morning. I think the app could be more user friendly in the way I access live content. The system Is very sensitive to access advertisements. Those are the first things that appear when I log in, rather than actually watching the live channel. If I touch the phone gently, I seem to stop the news and start an ad. Sometimes I have to hit Watch several times to get sound. I have an iPhone 13, so it isn’t the technology.

The Best

I love watching You & I have for a long time. I will continue to. I think it’s ignorant that the people who criticize you don’t have a clue what your jobs are like. They really should get a life of their own. Most the time the news & weather are right on. I’ve watched Your news because You reported on important events local & worldwide. Awful

Terrible app. I switched over from the original app like I was supposed to, and now I’ve uninstalled it all completely. It’s difficult to navigate as the general set up is very poor, ads everywhere-EVERYWHERE-and if you want to just read a story but not watch it, you can’t get the video not to autoplay when you click on the story link, even though the no autoplay option is selected. If you do choose to watch a story, you have to sit and watch an ad BEFORE EVERY SINGLE STORY before you’re allowed to see it. This was the same on the old app, but I’m tired of it either way. Get the PA Homepage app. It’s much more comfortable to navigate, great information, you’re not forced to play the videos, and you don’t have to watch ads every time you click on something.

Love WNEP

I look forward every morning to watch the Morning crew! I love Joe’s shenanigans, it makes my day! I love Mindy Tom and the whole gang too! Using the app is the only way I get to watch WNEP so I am so thankful for it. I love the app for any news in my area if I miss your show at any point of the day. I don’t watch the news on my TV anymore, I use this wonderful App. Please keep this app going so the whole team, morning noon or night, to keep my day happy and keep all of us who can’t see you on TV going.

Morning Crew

The Morning Crew during the Week are truly amazing!! They are so full of ENERGY, plus Ryan’s stories are the best he does so much research into each story and cover it from A thru Z. Then you have Mindy, Tom and Joe, they compliment each other so much. Finally Joe, where do I start, he is so super intelligent and takes his forecast and explains it so we can all understand!! One tip to WNEP keep this crew together, they brighten up every morning for so many people in NEPA !! Great Job Morning Crew!!

Hat’s Off !

Been watching channel 16 since Jay Christopher was on, watch it several times a day. Just love everyone, (even Joe)! Keep up the great work! By the way… please tell Kurt the corn didn’t do well probably because the raised bed soil container may not have been deep enough for the corn’s roots. Also, the plant may have needed more fertilizer. Other than that, you did a great job, good luck for next year’s garden season. Chris Patchin, Master Gardener.

I’m enjoying WNEP-TV on the internet.

It’s nice to connect with familiar communities of NEPA even though I no longer live in the area. I like the events and and “American Dream” lifestyle covered in the Wyoming Valley as well as the outlying area. Your coverage connects me to good values of our heritage in fresh and enduring topics. I compare it to the larger, more big city topics I view now. I relocated within PA about one and a half years ago. So the cosmopolitan is very different.

Just a FYI to all that make our day with your hard work and day to day work loads. I very much enjoy WNEP and all the folks that put that effort to let us know about our local and daily news as we sit safely at home and your all working and getting us the information of our surrounding. Wonderful

Your news and weather teams are extraordinarily warm and friendly. Few pretentious at WNEP. I appreciate that. Thank you. Wish the app would open faster. Seems to be a much too long pause between accessing the app and getting to the news, the weather, etc. Also would appreciate fuller Covid updates, not as thorough as The NY Times, but more currant local info on the app. Thanks all for your service to the community.

Will be OK when I get used to it, but...

Generally I like the new app and find it easy to navigate (and the live stream works so much better on our smart TV). However, the school closings section needs work. Many were listed as “early dismissal,” but no specific times given. I also liked the alternating grey and white backgrounds behind the school names - made it much easier to read. I like the weather feature as it’s included in the new app. Very easy to set up location.

Best news cast

The best news station around better than any other ... when I moved to Florida I still watched news watch 16... I tweet with people from there I know a few of them from meeting out in the community so personable all of them .. the absolute best around love them ! 10/23 12/23 actually in Florida for Christmas and I watch it on my phone … love my local news team

Appearance

I love WNEP however I wish you would go back to your old appearance of what your app was it was easy to look at and find on the phone and so many things are blue and white and it is hard to pick it out on my phone however the other thing I can’t stand is when I’m watching it on the news on my television the way it’s distracting the lines and everything move around I don’t like it but that’s OK cause we’re getting rid of our cable anyway so I will only have my app and I’ll check it every now and then

Starts late in the app

By time you’re Able to click on the live broadcast it’s already a few minutes into it there’s a delay before it actually lets you click on it to watch it I think you need an update on this it’s been going on for a little bit now please let me know I appreciate it thank you I really like using the app

Great for people traveling!

Great way to stay in touch with the area while I’m away! I can look at the weather and read what’s doing on in my hometown! I thoroughly enjoy watching News Watch 16 and the app keeps me informed while I’m out of the area ! It’s definitely a win win for me! My only suggestion is I miss the old separate weather app with active radar! It would be nice to either get it back or add it on to this current app! Great Job!

ADs take over

I find this app difficult if not impossible to use. When I click on a news story to watch, ads pop up and then freeze. I rarely get a news story to watch and end up reading it in the text below instead. I also miss the feature of being able to watch a full newscast at any time of day. Now you have to be logged on during a live cast to see a full half hour of news. With the original app, I could log on at 2pm and see the entire recorded news from the noon newscast. That option is gone with this new app.

Local news app perfect for everything

I use the WNEP app often to check the weather forecast, radar, and even to watch it when I can’t be in front of a TV. As a student, I also love the school closings feature that allows you to search for your school to see what’s up. Very useful app overall, highly recommend to people in NEPA.

Great News Station

I have Directv with being said. I only watch the news on WNEP. Having to watch it on my computer and is very inconvenient, but that’s what I’ve been doing. I love all the anchors and weather people They make the broadcast. If the dispute isn’t settled when my contract is up. I’ll be dropping Directv and I’ve been a customer for almost 20.

Great Job Channel 16

Channel 16 is the channel that we go to most especially for news. My parents watched channel 16 news every night and I am now 57 and I still watch channel 16 news, and weather. Love Joe’s craziness. Kurt and his little dog. Enjoy watching the new guy Jeremy, he’s doing a great job! We so like on the road with Mike Stevens, it’s nice to see what’s going on out there! Keep up the Great job!!

Sorry to be so negative

The app is slow to load. It’s very difficult to get around and find things. There doesn’t seem to be a main menu or search function. Did testers try to watch videos like Does it really work? The videos keep reloading and starting over. Even when they run they’re jerky. Ask someone who is seeing the app for the first time to go to the Does it really work videos. Watch what they have to do to find the videos, if they can find them. It seems like the developers were concentrating on presenting ads more than on usability. Pay more attention to the end user.

Cancelling subscription to Blueridge cable

Please please don’t leave us Blueridge customers behind I’ve watched WNEP 16 for 14 years and only switched from my satellite to cable bc I was unable to get WiFi in these current days of Covid-19 how can anyone live without satellite how can I home school my grand babies ? Annoying

When I want to get to the news or weather usually in a hurry, I find it very annoying to have to no choice but watch the slow opening and a greeting. No need to tell me the app I opened and I don’t need a canned greeting! If we can’t have the old app back, please at least get rid of tacky opening video.

Great coverage

Almost always, I rely on WNEP for the most complete and accurate news. Especially with COVID 19 briefings. My only suggestion would be to please place some kind of notice on the screen of time for PA briefing. I can’t count how many times I’ve tuned in at 2pm and no briefing! Either I missed it or it will be later but nowhere can I find any information on the schedule.

WNEP

I am missing WNEP due to the Direct TV situation!! I can not stream due to poor reception in my area!! I have tried the only remaining channel I can get with Direct TV and it just doesn’t fill the void left by loosing WNEP—news, weather and programming sorely missed. Local weather reports and updates are essential in my life!! I am a weather “watcher” and keep up with news local and national……. WNEP —-I need you back in my life!!!

Shame on Tegna

Woke up one morning without channel 16. No news or weather. In the northern end of Wayne county weather is important. Am extremely disappointed with the owner. They are doing a real disservice to their customers. The other news stations don’t cover this area. Love channel 16 news and weather and have been loyal viewers for years but shame on Tegna

The old version was better

When WNEP was bought out the app changed. And so did their programming. Many great news anchors left and based on their liberal bias I can see why. The weather app was much better because it would show and announce local lightning strikes. The new one does not do that.

Difficult to use.

This new site is difficult to navigate and to find areas that the old website had clearly labeled. I don’t like that it takes triple the time to find the areas and the “Topics” listing stinks. At this point I’ve started going to the other news websites rather than get so aggravated trying to find something or get to the news stories or possible delays. It is just my opinion, but I feel the design of this new website is poorly executed and not user friendly at all, especially if you’re a senior who is not using computers or mobile devices nonstop.

I liked the other one better for the weather report all you had to do was click on it and the weather was there . Know you have to click on the bottom and scroll down to find the weather map

Just alright

I do not like this new version. I very much prefer the Stormtracker app, I am not looking for anything more then the weather and now it’s everything “news” you can find online. I wish they would keep the 2 apps seperate. I loved how I would get all the notifications for weather events near me, and it did that automatically I can’t even find how to make this new version do that. Not an upgrade in my opinion, just an overload

Fix notifications options

I ONLY want weather alerts, not news headlines cluttering my lock screen. I selected weather, have checked for these alerts and these ONLY, but the other crap also appears. I even have the warning message that my “notifications or banner alerts are turned off”, but yet I am getting the news I do not want. Kind of a contradiction, eh? I love WNEP, but if I can’t choose to have ONLY weather alerts, but still access to the news when I want it, I’ll get a different app.

By far the worst news app ever

This app replaced a perfectly good app where one could scroll through the stories without having to go “back” after every story. The old app had a search. The old app had older stories as well as the latest headlines. And the old app allowed you to save your stories and/or forward them on. This app has NONE of that. My suggestion; if you’re going to replace an app with a new updated version, bring all the features from the old one over and improve them. Don’t take them away. Deleting app now and going to WBRE.

Love

Love the station and all the personalities. They all have great vibes! I love the renovation as well! The only thing I wished was changed is the sound of the news station. It’s been that way for years. Would love to hear something new? I appreciate everyone of you❤️

App great in theory

Your ads completely take away from the app experience. They are WAY longer than they need to be and more often than not they freeze up the entire app. It’s so maddening. I’m going to guess 8 out of 10 times I just close the app because I can’t watch the content that interested me from your notification due to your ads. Please fix this!!! 🙏

Not as good as the original

I like the app but I think the older version was better. It’s difficult to find stories that aren’t on the main page. With the old app you could hit view more and scroll through all stories. Wish they would bring that back. Other than that it’s a pretty good app. I still use it for local news.

Notification functions are bad

Overall the app is fine, but I primarily wanted it for local weather alerts. I have my app notification settings set to where I am SUPPOSED to only receive severe weather alerts. Having said that I get notifications every day for other news completely unrelated to the weather. Fix the problem! Don’t send constant notifications for things you don’t have permission to send based on your in-app settings!

Bring back Stormtracker App

This app is beneficial for people who want to look actual news. I prefer just using the stormtracker app for the weather. This one is very hard to navigate for weather. I feel keeping the two separate was a good tactic. I am also getting notifications for news items that I don’t even want; even though I have my notifications turned off for the news portion..odd. Just not a fan of this app and prob going to delete it.

Best News team ever.

My cable used to carry WNEP, that’s actually why I went back to cable.. and then just dropped it. I have Blue Ridge Cable. So I downloaded the app, and catch the news every morning and evening. Wish it were on a tv screen, but it’s not stopping me... best meteorologists!!

Enjoy WNEP

I really enjoy WNEP app because they do a great job with the area news,informative about area events, and what’s happening in the area. I really enjoy it when we travel to Florida. It’s great to keep up with weather, school closings,and news in the our community.

Getting better

Hated it when they first forced me onto it because they eliminated their stand alone weather app. I use it mostly for weather anyway. Between ongoing improvement and my getting used to it, I don’t hate it as much. Still not very intuitive and it’s hard to navigate. Try finding the Pet pictures or posting a picture. Now it’s making me choose a nickname to submit my review. It’s a guessing game to find a nickname not already taken! Stupid!

I missed not being able to watch WNEP for my news and especially Joe for weather. I came across you guys on News On . Who would ever think that the weather could be so entertaining, but once again I find myself sitting here laughing at what Joe is saying . Thank you Judy Besser

Miss the old version !

Am I missing something??? I can’t find the option to watch live?? I really like the old apps…( news & Stormtracker 16) . I may delete this and try another news outlet- that makes me really sad because I love the morning crew!

News and weather

I had moved south in 2005 and back here in 2020. One thing I truly missed was WNEP and watching our Joe and his antics. Always have been very informative and enjoyable. I was able to follow Joe and the station online but not the same. Happy to be back.

Love WNEP-it’s my go-to station for up to date news. And although I have the utmost confidence in your meteorological staff, I miss John Hinkey and his calm, knowledgeable delivery of the weather! I’m not sure what occurred but I do know it’s a terrible loss to the station!
