Make an option to turn off construction information! I only want to know where accidents are around me and not hear about construction for the next month on every road around me.
Installed the App found that the voice was the same that I use for a personal assitant. I was concerned with the comment below as my kids will often be in the car when the app is running. Turns out, when I disable my custom voice app, the default voice sounds fine.
Nice app, but make sure to go to settings and turn off anonymous speed reporting. Don't know why that would even be an option, but it is. I dropped a star just because they tried to sneak that in.
The only change I would make is the mileage increments. I would like to see it in 10 mile increments from 0-50 miles. And I think the voice is fine, very pleasant and easy to understand.
The app should give at least the same information that’s available from the website. Invest a little money improve the app. And include signs, cameras, and traffic conditions, with live ASAP updates
Takes too long for accidents to be reported on this app if they are even reported at all. By the time the accidents are on the reports usually the accident is already cleared up or you are already stuck behind the wrecks. This renders this app pretty much useless except to find out where construction zones are.
Have never been able to get useful information quickly. Not a fan of the website either. Why not make it so user can simply input the route they want info instead of all the drop down/drill down
This app doesn’t tell me anything the “Maps” app doesn’t already. I downloaded this to get road information such as snow accumulation. There’s a 511 app for just about every state and this is one of the few that doesn’t list road condition.
Don't waste your time. Provides no helpful road information. Only options for road conditions is for construction and heavy trucks. No weather road hazard available. Would give it zero stars if possible.
The West Virginia 511 Drive Safe mobile app provides drivers with audible, hands-free traffic alerts from their smartphone. Open the app when you get in the car to begin your drive then set the phone aside while driving. The WV 511 Drive safe app will use your phone's speaker and GPS location to provide you with the audible travel advisories near your current location as you drive. In the settings menu you can customize the app to play various advisory types (critical advisories will always be broadcast, so no option is provided to disable them) adjust the advisory replay interval and the number of miles radius for which you are interested in receiving advisories. HOW IT WORKS While driving you will receive audible updates on nearby construction, crashes, traffic delays, weather advisories and other helpful traveler information on nearby interstates and other high priority roadways while being able to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. The WV 511 Drive Safe app will continue to update you with nearby advisories as your vehicle continues to move. The application gives you audio player controls for Play, Pause, Stop, Skip, and Replay All. If the GPS signal is not available the device will utilize the highest precision location tool available (whether it be GPS or cell tower triangulation). You do not need to register to use this app or to get these alerts. We don't get or record any identifying information about you or your phone. By default, you will be elected into reporting your device-determined speed along with your location to our servers, but you can elect to opt-out from within the application. You must opt-out of this selection each time the application is restarted. The Technology The application is based on Information Logistics’ patent pending "Open Microphone Platform", which is a queue-driven streaming technology platform used in combination with your phone's built-in GPS. The data for the system is the NJ travel advisory data. IMPORTANT - Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. IMPORTANT - NON-GPS DEVICES This application will have some limited functionality on these devices.
