Don’t bother
Sent me a rude rejection when all I did was ask to sell it’s going to be their loss I’ll sell it to Christie‘s or Sotheby’s. I just thought this would be easy. Enclosed is a copy of our correspondence and pictures of what I wish to sell no one in their right mind returned down items totaling in this value, they are either truly stupid or completely rude, please find enclosed my response and -go to Christie’s or Sothebys So very So very disappointed, but it won't be my loss .. I will send you the total from Soth and Christie's. lIl also friends not even to bother with your wonderful site. of the time when I do an online search for evaluation Insulance purposes your. They'll probably be able to tell me where I st suspect it's London's Christie's I've dealt with them tragically sorry and I won't even mention it on my 10 see one, just Google the words more rare tropical plants my blog will be on the very first page I’ll post a picture of some of the things I have. If any one of you wants to see the exquisite 7 foot long hand carved Ironwood tiger that weighs 750 pounds. And some other pieces from my fine collection. I’m only doing that because this app refuses to let me post a photo it’s a shame when a business goes a foul. Always check the reviews of the individual dealer
1stDibs is a brilliant resource but they have many dealers gathered together under their name. I always check the feedback of the individual dealer to find out 1/ how long have they been with 1stDibs? 2/ how many transactions have they had reviewed? 3/ what sorts of issues have led to any less-than-perfect feedback? In a business where customer satisfaction is paramount, any average feedback of less than 4.8 stars is a warning sign for me. I like dealers with perfect feedback of 5.0. They have worked hard to get it- and they will work hard to make me happy, so they can keep it!

Terrible Experience
Firstly, I do not write negative reviews easily or often, but I feel compelled to share my interactions with 1stDibs and one of their merchants, Dover Jewelers. Dover Jewelers demonstrated unprofessional business practices. I had inquired about an item and was told it was unavailable at the time. When I questioned if it would be available another time, I noticed the price had doubled. I called to complain as this was all documented. The person on the phone was great, but then I got an email from someone who was misinformed about the situation. When I informed that person, in detail and with screen grabs, I never heard back. Then I called again. The person was very understanding and said someone would be in touch. This person understood the situation, but did nothing. I called a third time and finally got someone to call the merchant. That night the items was marked as sold. It took three weeks to get an outcome and 1stDibs said they have no control if someone buys the item on another platform before me. Sadly I am left feeling disappointed that they support the unprofessional business practices of their merchants and do not support the buyer.

View on Wall broken and not enough filters
The app includes a “view on wall” button, so you can see what art looks like on your wall. I got it to work 1 time out of 100. They should either offer some support or just remove the feature. There is nothing on the website about the app and there is no FAQ or help from within the app. I would be afraid to buy through these people if they can’t even put a little support area somewhere for the app. My second gripe is that they don’t offer enough filters. The most granular you can get on art is “portraits”. It shows you over 10,000 of them sorted 1 of 4 ways. Oddly, when you click filter for portrait it tells you there will be 3,000 or so. It doesn’t match. I have more gripes, but these are my two biggest ones. If this company cannot write an app that doesn’t drive its users insane, then it can’t be trusted to be an intermediary or to bet vendors for million dollar purchases.

1stdibs is great! … until you need to contact customer service. Horrible Service!
I used 1stdibs for about 4 years, purchasing over $80,000 usd in vintage furniture. There was a minor problem with the shipment of an item (1st dibs, not the merchant). The 1stdibs customer service was so abysmal I will never use them again. I was frustrated, the merchant was frustrated, and 1stdibs didn’t care or bat an eye. Kinda shocking considering the amount of $ at stake. A simple correction would have kept everyone happy. Instead … it was like taking to a Time Warner customer service agent. But instead of a $100 cable bill it was over a $18,000 sofa. How can a company that sells high end goods be so abyssal about customer service? NEVER USE 1stDIBS AGAIN! (Btw- in most cases … you can just reach out to a dealer directly. It’s what I do now. Allows me to develop relationships with dealers too, so everyone wins (except 1stdibs I suppose - yay!)

Top Notch Quality
You can trust all their venders for being the BEST. 1stbids has done all the vetting work for us. You can even negotiate prices for most of all the items. I have purchased a used Alexander McQueen clutch this year, asking price $700, the vender accepted my $380 bid. I also bought a 2.1 carat 1890s vintage diamond ring for my 10th wedding anniversary. The jeweler asked for $11k. We negotiated back and forth and purchased it for close to $8.5k. All the official paperwork and documents were included. I had it appraised at two different jewelers and it appraised for close to $12k. You can trust this site. I am remodeling my home and can’t wait to see what artwork, furniture, and decor I can bring home next.

I enjoy 1st Dibs for several reasons
“ window shopping “ to see the variety, beauty, creativity. Serious shopping with a mission for a project. Fun shopping for gifts. Price comparisons to make wise purchasing decisions . *Valuation for items & treasures already in my possession. * I print the picture with description & price then put it in the vase or tape it behind the artwork or behind/ under a piece of furniture so that when I am gone my children or grandchildren will recognize the monetary value ( if not the sentimental value 🥲)

Just don’t buy anything!
In this day and age it’s reasonable to expect a very basic level of help from the company taking a percentage of every sale. 1st Dibs has no buyer protection, indeed no buyer support, and unlike Etsy and eBay does not even give sellers the tools they need to offer a high level of service when there are issues with the product. We assumed the premium feel and prices meant premium service, but that’s not the case at all. My wife ordered some sconces for over $1,000 assuming that it would be easier than ordering at a wholesale auction which we usually do. 1st Dibs sent the items signature required with a provision that they not be left at a UPS access point. UPS tried to deliver 3 times when someone was home and apparently couldn’t figure out our building buzzer because they never buzzed us. UPS returned the package. Thats clearly the fault of UPS, not the seller, and (mostly) not 1st Dibs. Yet I cannot remember reaching someone on the phone who was less helpful than the 1st Dibs rep. It’s absurd, frustrating, and at the end of the day is just going to make us shop elsewhere. Reading these reviews, many people who buy stuff have a similar experience. I now feel fortunate that we’re not out $18k like the other reviewer here.

1st Dibs is a more upper class curated shopping resource that allows users to purchase fine art, furniture, fashion and jewelry from dealers. As a result the service is a bit more personal allowing you to make offers and speak with sellers directly. Users can use the app to shop for art by select well renowned artists, place furniture pieces in your space to get an idea in how it looks in a particular spot as well as filter shopping for other categories as well. The design itself is simple with a minimialist UI and a white background which makes it easy to browse for something you might be searching for.

Your dream stuff!
Anytime that you search the site be prepared to look for the best of the best. I have found some of my great pieces as well as reproductions of the pieces from here. This side is the first to look then I find myself coming right back to the site. To find some excellent pieces for projects and for clients this is the place to look.

Beware - Damage Responses Not Sent to App
I have always thought the 1stDibs app was amazing - you can do everything: buy, communicate with sellers, 1stDibs, etc- until now. You can report damage to purchased items, BUT they don’t respond to you via the app. They only respond for damage claims through an email. No messages on the app. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t see the email, older email that gets merged and some things go to spam and I kept checking the app. When I called to follow up, it had been a couple of weeks (over Thanksgiving holiday as well), I found out my window to contest damage has closed. This is either incompetence on 1stDibs end. I do hope this is not intentional.

WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE
First time ever I leave a review on this app, second ever in any site. I’ve had the worst customer experience with this company. I ordered a piece (from Savannah Bay Gallery) for a client 6 months ago (September 2022) and it hasn’t arrived. We asked for a cancellation and refund and stopped receiving any communication. Fraudulent, unprofessional, scammers. I’ve been in communication with Neil (from the 1st Dibs Team) and Lena (from the Savannah Bay Gallery) and they only blame one another and the shipping company but offer no solutions or even apologize. Please beware before putting your trust here and the trust of your clients, an absolute disappointment. This is a copy of the original message I wrote on the gallery page: I have been waiting for the piece I bought for a client for several months now. The last message they sent said the piece was ready and crated but carrier refused to take the parcel and to this day it hasn’t been shipped. They have now stopped replying to my messages. Horrible experience, wouldn’t recommend.

Worst company in App Store
I beg of you to intently read my review. I do not normally write bad reviews because I understand that most companies are trying their best. But in this instance, I would not recommend 1stdibs to any person. Their customer service never answers your phone call but instead says that someone will call you back and never does. They will make excuse after excuse after as to why they didn’t deliver what they were supposed to. I beg of you to listen and read this email with the understanding that I don’t make it lightly. Hoodwinking Customers
This app and its seller are in the business of defrauding customers. I purchased an item for $1259, and it was returned due to a size issue. The seller wanted to keep 50% of my refund (over $500), then they acknowledged it was a DHL error, I still do not have a refund after 30 days of tracking confirming that the item has reaches port of return. The US based customer service is untrained, ignorant about customs/tariffs (50% being claimed as “fees” should have been a red flag to anyone), and now I am going through consumer protection bureau (EU) and small claims court (US) to get my money. 1stDibs is defrauding its customers, instead of advocating for them.

Beware of Shipping Charges
Last order I put in a bid that was $350 lower than asking price and it was accepted, then the provided the shipping cost which was the full discount plus $15. Have ordered and received several items and they have all been great quality and was very happy. However, this last time the shipping charges were over the top and basically wiped out all the negotiations I had done and there were no options to reply to the seller that if ai had any idea how high the shopping was, I would have asked for a different price.

Love the app
I love the app a lot on my phone. However, I would love a version for my iPad, having an iPhone app run on my iPad that doesn’t fit my screens layout is just not ideal anymore. I could understand if the app just came out, but this app has been around for a couple of years now and I’m so tired of only using my phone. I wanna see some diamonds and beautiful art from the comfort of my couch from the comfort of my big screen iPad. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!
Horrible customer service. I ordered an item, then decided to return it. 4 weeks later, it's turning into a full-time ordeal to try to get the return scheduled. Countless emails. Wonder how long the refunding of the considerable amount of money will take. Twice they failed to schedule the pickup within the clearly stated dates they had promised. Then silence. Needless to say, no response on their customer service phone number. I'm not even going to get into what the product I had ordered looked like, compared to the pictures. Overpriced big time!!! Give us a break!!
I only buy Dior. Chanel. Louis Vuitton. Rolex, etc... I see all your products on the other sites and you are so overpriced. The same products but for one third of what you advertise. Just because I have money does not mean that I want to over pay. I only buy the best for the least amount of money. You have to lower the prices. You are not selling anything special compared to the other sites. You are not selling private jetliners. I lived in Manhattan, NY for three months and I did not see fashion at all. You will make more money if you lower the prices . It is a no brainer. Come on !!!

I have purchased several items from 1stDibs but I wish they had a filter for clothing size. I am sad when I see that killer dress and It will never fit me. I would buy more if I could select my size and only see things that I could wear.

Disappointing Customer Service
I have been so disappointed in the customer service experience. I received a broken table at the beginning of May and am still trying to work to get a refund and response. It has been almost 20 days since I’ve last heard from 1st Dibs, and it feels like they quit responding to my inquiries and gave up on finding a solution for me. The promise of “commitment to satisfaction” and “peace of mind” on their website is extremely misleading, and I have lost trust in the company as a customer.

There isn’t a single item you can’t find on 1stdibs and, if you can’t, you either haven’t looked long enough or been patient enough to understand the subtle different layers available to you. We have three kids and I love them dearly. 1stdibs is our fourth....😬

Even the reviews are beautiful!
At the moment a pair of chairs (the most beautiful I’ve ever seen) are out of my range. I hope it’s not always that way, but in the meantime, I can “collect” for my dream board, and save up for some truly great gifts. I would like to second the reviewer who asked for some tweaks: after looking at an item and then go back to continue browsing, I’d like to be sent to where I left off, not at the beginning of the list of 400 items, of which I’ve gone through 300. And the sign in does need to last longer and offer using my fingerprint. Other than that, magnifique!

Please bring back the category filter. Example: I search for "Moon". Before you could look at art, fashion, furniture with a connection to moon. Appreciate a timely update given this was in place a few months ago. I don't want to be forced to search by price which is what your app is doing now Also....your link to app support directs me to your watches page. Please advise how I contact app support.

Spent nearly $600 for an item that was clearly posted on the website- received something else!Made numerous attempts to email and call first Dibs and barely received a clear response back -just that they would not cover this under their return policy. Terrible service. Terrible experience. Highly do not recommend!!! Rather go shopping at Saks or Neiman's and have live representative to speak to! Trust me and do not shop here

The 1stDibs app was easy - and they have a great magazine “Introspective” which is beautiful and informative. At least it was before it became part of this app. There is no longer the ability to zoom images — however small they are one your screen it IT. Disappointing. I imagine there is some reason they have made this change but whatever it is makes reading it less pleasant.

Fantastic app
Don’t let high prices fool you. I was able to bid for an item and only paid 60% of asking price. The app kept me in touch with the seller so I could make a quick counter offer and it saved me hundreds of dollars.

Flipping image
Why doesn’t the image flip from horizontal to vertical as your surfing the ap. So annoying, I’ve even reloaded the app, and upgraded as it comes up but still have to continue in the vertical uncomfortable position. Exasperating.

Read fine print
I was charged $100 in custom fees to get my item although it was made clear that the item had free shipping and handling. This was 10% of the cost of my item. I called customer service and was told by a rude agent this is “customary” and I should have been aware of the charge. I strongly encourage you to not work with 1stDibs. Be prepared to pay excessive import fees that are in addition to your purchase price. 1stDibs does not disclose these charges.

Force closes occasionally
I search for furniture and art, mostly. The filter options are pretty good. The app sometimes force closes on me if I’ve been using it for a while, which is annoying because it goes back to home when I reopen it.

Slow, 0 customer experience
Tried to buy egg shaped chair. Only 1 response from seller within a month. Customer support was very slow, questions left unanswered. Was trying to buy the chair for a month, 0’response. Almost 1 month after it said SOLD after my purchase order. Horrible experience. One month to write SOLD lol. Pretty horrible and irresponsible.

Buyer Beware
A gallery accepted an offer I made on a rare piece and switched it out with a less valuable piece from a larger edition hoping I wouldn’t notice. First Dibs was terrible to work with, showed no concern one of their sellers was ripping people off and took almost 6 weeks to process my refund with clear evidence of fraud. Buyer Beware as the seller is still selling on first dibs. They truly dont care.

Incredible resource pathetic service
1stdibs is a great resource for antiques, furniture and objets. The issue is they no longer allow you to communicate directly with the dealers — everything goes through them, negotiating, shipping etc. and their service is HORRIBLE. It’s basically like buying a Louis XVI console through Walmart. My suggestion is do your research there, and some googling — title of piece and location of store, and contact the dealer directly.
