I have subscribed to 9to5Toys for a while. It is a great site for tech and other types of deals. The app has all of the same content but an easier interface, especially for using on an iPhone. Highly recommend it and the site.
I downloaded this app because of there was a miscoded url to a product of interest that surfaced in a 925 blog post. The app lets you change the app icon, but no search, no filter...want details it launches a web site, want to purchase - fo to the website...one of the lamest apps out there. The other reason I was hopeful for this app is because of SSO. The store engine gets rebranded for other sites, however account credentials are centralized. So if you have an account for 925, for example, then you at another website that uses the same store engine - you have to figure out to use your 925 credentials because it is all one set of credentials regardless of the partner website. Change you credentials, now you just messed up the profile for the previous location. Hot mess.
I’ve been a huge fan of 9to5Toys but lately these reviewers are getting desperate for readers/users. The review talks about a specific deal but majority of the time the pictures have nothing to do with the item on sale. You have to click the review and read the whole thing to finally realize what is actually on sale. Another is there wording, when your scrolling thru the list of deals they make you think it’s that price but it’s not, once you click the list and read the whole review/deal. Come on be honest and just put the truth. Picture the actual item on sale and stop looking so desperate.
I have viewed the website for a long time as a one-stop location to get updated deals. The app is even more streamlined and very functional. Thank you for your hard work and all that you do for all of us. I cannot say enough good things about the content and information: BRAVO!!
The design on this app makes it incredibly easy to navigate. The value gained from using this app is high too. I always go here first when I need new electronics. Suggestion: when making updates, keep the UI the same it’s perfect.
Would Be Useful If I Could Search or Set Notification
I see no benefit of this app over the website, but the downside of having to start a new app instead of just using the website. If this had the ability to search articles, or to set up notification on specific products, than it might be worth the time. Right now, I just don’t get the value.
I don't know what I would do without the hard work these people do to find the best deals around. But I sure appreciate what they do to save me money, and the way the app presents the information about each deal it makes it easy to follow.
Ive been following 9to5Toys for my daily deals and now that they have an app it makes everything a lot easier! I love the additional customization from the app, I think it’s the first time I’m seeing an app that can change its icon so props to the developer/s!
This app takes the information from the website and displays it in a more limited way. There is no search option within the app. Links open up in Safari. You can’t set preferences or categories for the types of deals you would like notifications for. Right now, this app leaves a lot to be desired.
Not a bad mobile app, but where is the search bar?!?!
How in the world can a retail type of mobile phone app not have an easily accessible search bar? This is stunning. How do you conduct a search for a product or category?
I have checked 9to5Toys for years to save on Christmas shopping. When the app came out and that it had notifications I was in heaven. Thanks for an awesome app and great deal finds!!! Download this app!!!
This is my one stop shop for Mac news. It’s free, but I like to support it with $1.99 monthly premium subscription. Keep up on your Apple. John Albright
Love the app, love the alerts especially around Christmas shopping time. PLEASE PLEASE add search capabilities. I see an alert, then try to find it and it has scrolled past the screen and WISH it would search. Thanks!
Crashes while scrolling on iPhone. In the iPad app, if you open the app and it loads with newer stories above the left side view pane and you tap the top of the pane to auto scroll to the top, it crashes the app basically every time
The notifications do not open to the sorry that they reference. It simply opens the app. You’ll never find the story that you tapped on unless the notification is very new. To make matters worse, there’s no search feature. So you definitely can’t find the story that you tapped on.
Com’on now, how many reviews are needed to say “make app searchable” does it take? Also would be much better if you could tag an item (like #iPad) and ask for a notification when it falls below a set price point.
Used for more than 2 months and notification doesn’t come in for most things and when it does. It shows up hours late. Often, I’ve gone to the website and seen items before being notified much later.
In the app, if I click on a link to Amazon, app opens Amazon in Safari browser. But if I open 9to5toys URL in Safari browser, and click on Amazon link, it will be taken to my Amazon app. Why cant your app do that. Bring me to my native Amazon app directly from your app instead of going to Safari browser.
