Exceptional Transcription App
Now that this app has been updated with OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition, the app really shines. It's fast, fairly accurate, and can create various file types for you (TXT, CSV, SRT, and VTT). I do wish it had better batch options like automatically saving transcription files in a predetermined location and a 'Watch Folder' option to automatically begin transcription of files found in a folder. Great work, keep the updates coming.

The perfect soulution to all my problems.
I was searching high and low for a quick and accurate transcriber for taking meeting notes. Every app I tried was subscription based! For a one time, flat $10 fee, this software has improved my productivity tenfold!! The text requires some editing, which I don't mind at all. 10/10 if you've been thinking about getting this app, do it. It's a life/time saver.

It handles Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese!
The accuracy rate I would say only 70-80%. I wish it has build-in manual correction. I doubt it can have self-learning to increae the accuracy. I also wish it has better way to handle batch processing such as auto export the SRT files to the previous saved folder or the same folder as the input file's location. Always default to the Desktop folder is a kind of annoying. Anyway, it is still a good tool.

"It just works" should be the default, but it is not.
This app is exceptional: It just works. I wish 99% of the other software I use (including Apple's ;-) would follow the non-default attitude of this app: Things should just work without having to go through aggravating ordeals. I was pleasantly surprised by this app. I installed it and then I simply dropped a file with audio (it happened to be a video). After a few seconds, it activated a drop-down menu with "Export TXT. . ." and a choice of various formats. In my case, the text transcription was 100% accurate. Simple interface that does exactly what I wanted. Gut gemacht. Herzlichen Glückwunsch und vielen Dank.

Best $5 you can spend on an app
This is such a great app! I really care about privacy, and I don't want to send my audio/video to some cloud server somewhere to get transcribed. It's amazing that Whisper runs locally, and works so incredibly fast. 10/10 would recommend.

Fast and accurate
This app does the basics well! Import your audio files (individually or as a batch) and export the transcriptions. Easy! Would be nice to include the timestamps in the exported file as is done in the viewer window.

First 40 minutes only....
I like the app. It's accurate but for the first 40 minutes only The te for therxt is in sync then although it trancribes the rest of the text it places it in one large block for the rest of the movie. if this could be fixed I would give a 5 star rating

Frustrating interface
My rating is really about a 3.5. Most of my complaints are about the bare-bones interface and odd export functions. When you start up the program, a 'drag and drop' window appears. You drag a file onto the window and an oval at the top of the screen starts looping. And looping. What is it doing? I believe it is downloading the data it wants, but this is just a guess. Then the transcription starts, runs, and ends. Compared to listening to the entire tape, the transcription is quite fast. A couple of minutes for an hour-long video. (I'm on an intel-based Mac. Others may be faster.) At that point, the window shows an eye and an export button. Clicking the eye allows you to view the contents of the transcription... in a small and unresizeable window with a dinky font. Export options include .txt, .csv, .srt, and .vtt formats. I don't know what the latter two are, but probably for captioning videos. The .txt file loses a lot of the information about the sentences and the timing, so my option is .csv. When I see buttons like this, I'm not sure if "Export TXT" is a selection (I want to choose TXT as my export type) or a command "Export this file." Combining two different elements in one button leads to user confusion. However, it won't take long to figure out how to interact with this awkward interface. Now my next annoyance: The software defaults to exporting files into my iCloud documents file. I have a separate volume for video files and have to navigate down to the folder where the video file is located. When you are working with a couple thousand files, this gets old fast. The strength of the program lies in the Whisper transcription process. The program is an interface to that code. One old video with terrible audio quality could not be transcribed at all. A recent video with decent quality came out with a respectable transcription. It's not perfect, but if you have 2,674 video files, each running 30 minutes, at $10/minute for transcription services, we are talking about $800K for professional transcription. I wish the program had allowed me to perform one or two test transcriptions before purchase. I might have looked at alternatives. This is a lot of grousing for a $10 piece of software. I get frustrated when people ignore very simple user interface issues. Simply allowing the directory for saving files to be 'sticky' from one export to another would have saved me a great deal of time and shifted my rating up to a 4.
