I discovered Air TransAt by accident when looking for flights to London. I travel regularly to England. I live in upstate New York and having had horrible experiences at JFK I needed to find an alternative. I live less than 4 hours from Toronto by car and decided to try Air TransAt. Changed my life. No JFK, no connecting flights; the planes are on time, the staff and flight attendants are wonderful, the planes are comfortable, and landing at Gatwick is not an issue. I can even get a bus to Oxford (where I love to visit) from Gatwick. I recommend it to any of my friends or family who want to travel to England or Europe.
I took a flight from Montreal to Porto with a surfboard. My flight back was a month later from Lisbon to Montreal. At the Transat counter they refused to take the surfboard which they had taken on the way to Portugal. They did not warn me, nor was it written anywhere on my ticket that I had to call them 3 days prior my flight to tell them that I had a surfboard. I offered to pay any amount they wanted for a larger bagage and I begged them to take it since it is a very expensive surfboard. The supervisor at Air Transat totally refused to help me. Even my father talked to them over the phone from Montreal begging them to help me. AirTransat forced me to abandon my surf if I did not want to miss my flight. They tild me that the airport police would pick it up and ship it to me if I left my address and contact numbers. Now, we try to call and they do not answer. Worse, they are sending me emails telling me that I committed an offend for "abandoning" an item in an airport and they want me to pay a fine of 301 euros !!! I asked a friend who was still in Lisbon if he could go to the airport and retrieve my surf. They started to interogate him as if he had done something wrong and they refused to give him the surf !!! Every time I speak with a Transat agent, they transfer me to another department and nobody is helping me !! I cannot believe that they say they are a good leusure company..!!! Worst experience EVER with an airline !!!!!
I’ve flown Air Transat several times and I’ve never been disappointed. The prices are totally acceptable, the seats are very comfortable and the food they serve is really good. My last flight? 45 minutes early arriving Paris. I’ve been early on several flights, but 45 minutes is very good! And not to forget the staff: friendly without being superficial, professional and give every impression they really like their job. What a great pleasure compared to what you experience on USA carriers. Hope their executives and administrators realise they’ve got a good thing and don’t screw it up like some other airlines have!
After downloading the App, you would think that the next step would be to create a profile. If you can do this, it is not obvious. Tried to find and create a profile, but I could not. Then I went to to My Trips and put in my flight number hoping that would bring it up. No dice! That didn’t work either. Didn’t try to book a new flight from the App because I already had done so. Totally useless APP! American Airlines has one of the best ones. The minute you open the app, all your trips are right there beautifully laid out. Not sure what Transat is trying todo. George Barjak
now an Pesima compania, worst of worst , they dont have oficie in spain, i ts been four days now and still our suitcase dont arrive from canada, d still our suitcase dont arrive from canada, now and still our suitcase dont arrive from canada,
Yesterday, while boarding a flight from Montreal Canada to the United States, I felt discriminated for not understanding the language of French. The agent would call the seats in French and say all the instructions in French once all the French speakers boarded the plane, then he would make the announcement in English. Usually both announcements are announced back to back not in this case it was very obvious he discriminated those that did not speak French I had never felt as a third class citizen before.
This app gives you nothing that saves you time or cares for you. I’ve used a lot of airline apps and this is the most basic and least useful, once you come to your flight day. I’m sat at the airport and the app shows the flight is on time for it’s departure but the airport’s own app is telling me about a delay. A good app sends you alerts when there is a change of any scheduled data. Clearly they don’t use a live stream. Even using their flight status it is out of sync with the airport. All this means that you can’t relax and eat, shop or snooze because you have to go look at flight update boards or look at airport apps. Once on the plane, the staff make the flight very bearable and you feel like a valued customer.
Air Transat has been my airline of choice when flying to Europe. Great value and service. Club Class is a first rate experience. Better than any US airline. I drive from Vermont to Montreal which says a lot.
I can only use the app for a few seconds before it crashes. I tried deleting and reinstalling the latest version several times, have the latest iOS 15.5, but it still crashes every time.
The seats on my flight were very narrow. It’s a good thing I’m thin, chose an isle seat and the person next to me was also thin. Unfortunately for her, the person sitting next to her was somewhat overweight. Also, the seats had little padding on the seat bottom and I began to suffer after about two hours.
The app crashes when you try to purchase your checked bags online. Took a screen recording, yet didn’t matter at the airline counter, they’ll charge you the $90 instead of $75 because THEIR app is flawed. Steward verified to me in Spanish that it a well known issue—no care to fix it, since it nets Air Transat an extra $15 per person! $$$
Why does this app keep telling me to book my seat then when I look into it you want to charge me for my seat. If I wanted to pay for a seat I would have booked the seat when I booked the ticket. Send the notice 24 hrs before flight leaves. 1 star only because app keeps waking me up in the early morning with this useless message.
This app is incredibly clunky, glitches in the middle of inputting information, won’t recognize that you’ve actually checked in, is slower than a horse without legs and overall poorly designed.
I may be able to understand squeezing passengers into exceedingly narrow seats (I’m somewhat broad shouldered but not very overweight - just an average build) on a 2, 3 or even 5 hour flight but to squeeze people into these types of seats for a 10+hour transatlantic flight borders on the criminal. I won’t be flying Transat overseas again. MA
It is impossible to get in contact with someone. I’ve been on the phone for multiple days for hours and still unable to reach someone through the app and telephone. Horrible
I was on hold for 3 hrs yesterday on the phone to talk to someone since one ticket on my reservation doesn’t show and I’m traveling today!!!! The support via chat is also not helpful as it is a bot not an actual human
I can’t check in on the app or on the website. Why tell people to check in online if you are unable to handle it? This is my first time using Transat and it will most certainly be my last.
This is my first time flying with this air line and is starting to feel like bad idea, I can’t do pre-checkin and when I try to add my flight to the app it just crashes.
On Monday Oct 1 my wife and I flew the almost 11 hr flight from Athens to Toronto. It was scheduled to leave at 11.40 am local time but was delayed by 1 hr 10 min due to the fact that 2 flight crew did not arrive until 11.10 am. This tardiness gave us the impression of sloppiness in Air Transat management. So a long trip became even longer as no time was made up enroute. We paid extra for more leg room but this extra confort was greatly compromised by the tiny seats which meant we were squashed together like sardines! When we landed at Toronto another small delay of 15 min occurred because the plane was not properly gated. The plane came to a stop and the buzzer sounded for passengers to stand up and retrieve their bags from the overheads, when low-and-behold the plane started jostling backwards and forwards so that the jet bridge could attach to the plane. People almost fell over. Not a good trip. However the flight attendants were professional, helpful and courteous.
Do not book from the app. Book on any of those other flight apps
So I bought a ticket 11 days ago and today I find out the fare dropped by $350 total (pretty significant!) and AirTransat was not able to reimburse me the difference, offer any perks (like a freaking $25 gourmet meal) or offer even a promo code for next time I book with them, so basically I lose out on the $350 difference just because “fares change” and they cannot do this for every customer (or, you know, you could if the customer calls and asks for something from the customer service). By the way, my ticket was for the “club class” so it’s not like I paid for basic economy, and I always fly club with them so you’d think they’d do something- even if it was just a little extra something (I would’ve taken a $25 off coupon for a future flight for all I care) just something, any little thing, to say they appreciate me as a return customer, and that they’re sorry the price changed so dramatically in less than 2 weeks. Well I know that other apps have a price guarantee, so I won’t be booking through this app anymore. I might not even book through the airline anymore.
