The Premier Ridesharing Company: Nothing beats Alto
I've been a member now for the past 6+ months or so. I've only taken a handful of rides as our society begins to reopen, but every Alto ride I've had, I've loved and thoroughly enjoyed. Every driver has been safe, kind and respectful...reminding me of the features of my ride as well as being wonderful to talk with. I originally was interested in Alto specifically because of your workplace structure and the way you employ your drivers and give them proper benefits. It is obvious and apparent that the way Alto takes care of and treats their employees with respect has a trickle down effect to the way they perform and treat us as customers. In my conversations with drivers, they have raved about the way they're valued as people with Alto, as compared to their previous time with Uber/Lyft. My girlfriend has also gone on a couple of rides with me and has thoroughly enjoyed the experiences just as much as I have. Full disclosure, I had been a Lyft Pink member as well for the past 2 years, but I will be discontinuing that and committing all of my future rides to Alto; it will be my sole membership moving forward.

SO Good
In LA Uber and Lyft have gotten so bad… long wait times, stressed out drivers … I was about to decide to start driving again (for the past year I’ve only been using ride share) but then this Instagram ad showed up and I tried it … clean cars, nice drivers … and for me personally I used to really get so sick of the gross chemical air fresheners the Uber/Lyft drivers use … all Alto cars are freshened naturally they smell great without the chemical residue stinking up your clothes … also you know how some Uber black cars show up and smell like cigarettes ? Not here … so perfect thank you !

Reminds me of when Postmates first came to town
Whoever is creating the app doesn’t understand how the DMV is laid out. It reminds me of when Postmates first came to town. It was an allow delivery people who are in Arlington deliver to Shaw based on mileage during rush hour. I like Alto’s service but their boundaries are frustrating. I travel for work and would use them more often if it weren’t for their odd boundary rules. If I walk .4 miles from my front door, I can be picked up and taken to the airport. from airports. I can be dropped at my front door. I like the idea of having to clean cars and trained drivers. But with those limits it’s just better to go with a taxi service or Uber. I understand that there are certain areas they may not use the service as often, but if you are willing to take someone to the airport based on a quarter of a mile then maybe have a special airport service option?

A no for me
I became a member to try something new-I’m always traveling and don’t drive so I try all the apps. This app in particular has a lot of problems for me. It’s not just about the car, and “vibe”which is great. I love the option of putting on “do not disturb.” But this app has many issues. First of all there’s no way to contact your driver. So if you need to cross the street, or reach them for any reason you’re not able to. That just doesn’t make any sense. Secondly, after five minutes of wait time, they charge you. This must be how the app makes money. Because you can’t contact your driver, the time that you spend trying to look for them and figure out where they are you’re being charged. There also is an 18% service charge. I’m all for tipping my drivers, but 18% shouldn’t be included automatically. They should also let you know that there is a service charge before you book the ride. I’ll stick to Uber. They’ve figured it out.

Membership is a rip off! Pre book doesn’t work!
I was a loyal customer with a membership for a year. I recently pre booked my ride in advance. I checked the Pre booked rides in the mobile app and it shows nothing is scheduled. I could have missed my flight if I didn’t confirm this. The support likes to imply I don’t know how to pre book a ride and it’s all my fault. I ended up pre booking my ride with Uber for more than 50% off what Alto wanted to charge me. Just because you’re a member doesn’t mean you will be able to use any of the benefits of booking your ride in advance. I’m going to cancel my membership and join the Uber membership instead. I got an email and text confirmation from Uber. I didn’t get any of that with Alto. I can tell Alto is more concerned about growing their business instead of providing good customer service with their customers and members.

Cancelled my membership
This should be a great service because the drivers are awesome and the cars are pristine. However, the app is so bad that the service is unreliable and I can’t risk using Alto anymore. Alto’s GPS misses pickup locations including every airport drop off/pickup I’ve had (which caused me a lot of stress). Pickup time always says 8-10 minutes even when it’s not, and they charge for wait time if the car comes early. Can’t add a destination or change destination en route. No way to share trip details with someone else. Can’t save addresses so you have to enter your home/work address every time. There’s a handful of smaller features missing too. Sadly, Uber Luxe is more reliable, so I’ll keep using that even though Alto’s drivers and cars are better.

Frozen App, Missing Drivers, Drivers mucking about
At first, this ride service may seem like a shinier, better version of Uber or Lyft. Don’t be fooled by the good reviews. Don’t be fooled by the cool logo. I booked a prescheduled trip for my mother, and nobody showed up, texted, or called. After nobody showed up at the time slot, I ordered a new car to pick her up. The driver on the map seemed to have no idea where he was going, and also seemed to stop at a Starbucks and a Chipotle on the way on little side streets, and was not proceeding to pick her up. Meanwhile, the app kept freezing, and I had to refresh it multiple times. The diver did not answer his phone, so after about 20 minutes of this, I canceled and got her an Uber. Now, Uber’s not always great, but they have come about 95% of the time, unlike Alto. Will not be using this service again.

Technology Fail (again)
First at the airport and then the football stadium- the app does not communicate between drivers and riders on location… At the airport it gave drivers the wrong gate… At the football stadium the app gives the wrong pickup location for riders. Sad. Better app developers and customer service definitely needed. Was told on my airport trip refunds on customer experience so not matter. Understanding why über is actually doing better. Disappointed, had hopes for this app. Guess it’ll be sold or fold.

Charges way more than estimated
Tried Alto and won’t again. Tried it en route to a doc appt which I routinely take a ride service to so am familiar with the time and cost. Alto estimated $60-which was more than 2x UberX but I was willing to consider if was actually a significantly better experience. The driver kept missing turns, so had to circle around and it took almost 2x as long. What was not cool: I was charged for all that extra mileage and time. Unlike Uber, that cost they show you is just an estimate and much more if you hit any delay, the driver missed a turn, etc. Final cost for a ~$25 Uber/Lyft ride? Over $100. Felt like a total bait and switch. The cars were nicer than UberX/Lyft but not most Uber Black.

The Ritz of ride sharing
Alto is the Ritz Carlton of ride sharing and its competitors are the dilapidated Holliday Inn. Alto provides a truly elevated experience; from the comfort and cleanliness of its cars, to the professional drivers, to the sleek app. I’m reminded of how much I love Alto when I travel to another city and have to take a competitor offering, when the cars smell bad, are filthy, have no shocks, and ask for a 5 star rating at the end of an awful experience. I don’t blame the entrepreneurial drivers of these competitors - am sure they wish Alto was an option. I highly recommend this to anyone!

Alto is my go to
Alto is my go to, the only rideshare I will use. I’ve been using them for a couple of months now and it is always a fantastic experience. Cars always clean, super friendly drivers, charging cords, water… I always feel like I’m getting a VIP ride. Their customer service is also top-notch. I requested a ride that could not be met during high demand and within minutes they sent me a text with a credit to use on my next ride. I highly, highly recommend them.

Unable to cancel account or dispute membership charge
After my first experience using alto was beyond horrible I honestly thought I was done with this products. I made sure that my membership would not be continued and was still within my 30 days and deleted the app directly from my phone. This morning I just got an email saying I was charged $13 for their monthly membership and not only do they not have a support line dedicated to membership issues there is no way for me to dispute this, just eat the $13 charge and remove the app. I am beyond frustrated with this app and really do hope no one is going through the same things that I have to go through.

Alto is my new favorite ride share service
I used Alto in Dallas previously when visiting friends but I was thrilled when they expanded service to DC! So far every ride I’ve taken in DC has been wonderful! I love the service and types of cars in their fleet. I’ve literally been telling everyone I know in DC to join because it’s that great. I would say it is slightly more expensive than Uber but with the nicer cars and improved service it’s 100% worth it to me

Use Waze PLEASE
After using ALTO for the first time during Houston Rodeo, I’ll stick to Lyft/Uber. The luxury of the ride did not outweigh the difficulty getting to our destination since the drivers are instructed to use a GPS app that does not provide up to the minute traffic updates and accurate routes. Because of this, we were extremely delayed and experienced unnecessary sitting in traffic which was avoidable and very frustrating. We ended up ditching the car and walked to our destination. Update your drivers to use Waze and I’m happy to call Alto again.

Hope They Succeed
I rode them for the first time today and was an overall positive experience. Driver was kind and careful and the car was nice. I had gotten tired of Uber/Lyft having aggressive unsafe drivers, cars smelling like strong air freshener, and total dumps of cars. Hopefully there are enough others like me to keep Alto going. The prices are pretty steep, and you do need to add an additional 18% to the estimated price range to get the total you’ll pay.

Alto Review
I have had incredible experiences with Alto so far! The cars are always on-time and clean, and the drivers have been super friendly and drive safely when getting me to my destination. I also love the “Do Not Disturb” function when I need to make a call during my ride or I just want to sit back and relax. I highly recommend everyone download this app. I won’t use anything but Alto when I’m grabbing my next ride in Dallas!

I chose Alto because of their class and background checked drivers. However, I didn’t even get a chance to ride with them. Why you ask? Because on a very not busy Sunday at Lovefield, I booked my ride which was scheduled to arrive at 3 PM. After FIVE driver changes later and no one arriving by 3:15, I called and spoke with customer service who was not helpful at all. She told me that my driver was on the way, but the drivers continued to change and the ETA for my pickup kept getting longer and longer. I canceled my ride and got an Uber in 4 minutes. Alto is a waste of time and money. I’ll never use them!

3pm on a Tuesday - NO CARS AVAILABLE?
Decided to sign up for Alto so my teenage (+13) son could get a ride home from a school/learning event about 8 miles from my house. When I tried to use Alto to get a ride for him at 3p, I was repeatedly unable to do so—because the app kept telling me, sorry “it’s busy. There are no cars available.” At 3pm on a Tuesday?!? Tried about 4 times before I gave up. Immediate delete on this stupid app, and then I was left scrambling to find a ride home for my son. Forget this app; Alto is 2.5x more expensive than other more commonly known ride services, and you can’t even count on there being a car. 1 star all day.

Don’t be their paying guinea pig
Don’t be a paying guinea pig of this company that attempts to solve a problem which doesn’t exist. 1- They offer chargers, hotspot, and a playlist you may like and promote it as luxurious. How about a power bank and headphones. 2 - There’s nothing drivers can do about traffic in the areas the service. It’s impossible to find an Alto driver unless you book it the previous day. No guarantee driver will show io. So, no solution there. 3 - What’s luxury about an SUV?? 😅 Seriously, you’re getting out of a family car who goes to shopping at Costco. Cars scream middle class and Alto claims it’s LuXurrY 👹 Overall, no thank you.

Changed service territory but still billed me monthly fee
I have been an alto member for over a year and religiously used the service for trips to the airport every other week (as recently as 2 weeks ago) and I would have given them 5 stars for the service. Recently, they changed their service territory to exclude my home making me unable to use their service, but they will not let me request a refund of my membership fee. I understand the need to change the service to make it work business wise but screwing around over previously loyal customers in the process is unacceptable.

The best car service for women
I have been riding with Alto for a couple of years now. The cars are impeccably clean and the drivers are all very professional. Since the drivers are all employees and the cars have tracking devices on them, you feel safe. I’ve had rides with other services that I should not have gotten into the car. I’m a huge fan of ALTO!!!

Best car service!!
We have been so happy with our Alto experiences. We originally signed up for the feee trial and immediately went to the monthly membership. Just recently we changed and signed up for the 6 month membership. The cars are always clean and the drivers are so professional. We have had Robert a few times and he is also so polite and nice to talk with! Keep up the amazing service!!!

They need to expand
I was going to use their ride service signed up for the 14 day free trial I wanted to see how much a trip from my house to my local mall would cost but even though I live in Los Angeles apparently they don’t service the valley which is the area I live. However they respond super quickly to emails and cancelling my membership was easy as was deleting my account. Will continue to use Uber, it’s served me well, but once Alto expands and starts servicing the valley I will give them a try.

Bad UI and service
There’s a lot of room in the marketplace for an improvement in quality and service and reliability for Uber and Lyft. So I was excited for ALTO and gave it many months of effort. But their customer service is lacking. They routinely have tech failures. I’ve waited up to an hour though every ride is estimated at 15 minutes. I’ve pre scheduled rides that showed up remarkably late on two occasions because the tech didn’t dispatch the driver. The app disallows text shortcuts and doesn’t record locations, meaning you have to do more manually than an app should require. I do not recommend.

Better than anything else out there
Alto is the car service for today and more importantly, for tomorrow. App-based like we all know and love but rooted in service that feels personalized and lux. Why did we ever think it was okay to get into a random smelly car with a stranger? Thanks for breaking my bad habits and reminding me that safety is part of what we all pay for. Take my money Alto, you have a customer for life.

The only car service I feel safe with.
From Uber to Lyft, and in between, Alto is the only service that I feel safe with and have never have an incident with. Their drivers are top, the car is immaculate and whenever I’ve lost something or I’ve ordered a car for someone else, the driver/service always keeps me posted.

Alto for the win!
My friend introduced me to Alto and I’m never going back to Uber. I love how I know what car I’m getting, the free water and charger, the “do not disturb” for those conference calls, how I can pick my own vibe, and the drivers are employees of Alto. Because they are employees I feel 100% safer and they all love working for Alto. If you are in the dfw area, highly recommend Alto over any other service. You won’t regret it.

Love Alto
The alto experience is excellent: their cars are clean and new, the drivers are nice, polite and drive well. Prices are reasonable and the overall experience as a rider is just far more pleasant and safer than that other four-letter ride share provider. Yes the pickup time is a little longer, but knowing your driver is properly vetted, insured and sober seems like a worthwhile trade to me!

Alto offers the best possible experience when it comes to making someone else drive for me! I can choose if I feel like being chatty or not with the “do not disturb” option. I can always count on a clean car and a professional driver....plus a tiny water bottle!!!!! I can not recommend Alto enough. I’d give six stars if I could.

Bad business practices
While I want to be able to support an alternative to the legacy rideshare platforms, Alto has plenty of bad business practices when it comes to their customers. They do not honor promotional credits and they are not transparent about terms of use. Their customer support is nearly impossible to reach and don’t act professionally. I’m not only speaking from personal experience as friends of mine have also had similar issues. I would not recommend using this service until they fix their practices.

An upper echelon of Uber/Lyft
I, as everyone else probably was, had questions about a start up trying to compete in such a brutally competitive industry. Alto re-wrote the definition of what ride-share should be. Every driver is extremely friendly, welcoming and most importantly a GREAT driver that knows the Dallas roads. Would recommend to anyone in Dallas without question. Worth the extra $!

Really love the whole design from the app to the car. I did feel rest when I knew who was coming over to pick me up beforehand. The charger was a life saver for me. My phone was about to die. Really enjoyed the whole trip with Vibe Fuss! You guys really need to try this new service out!

Horrible, horrible, unprofessional, glitchy.
Will never use again. If I could rate 0 stars I would. App glitches often and causes all sorts of issues, including drivers being reassigned last minute leaving you stranded. Got charged multiple times for rides I wasn’t in. Supervisors seem uninterested in actually problem solving. Customer service simply tries to through more free credits at you without any tangible solution to make up for providing bad experience. Will be deleting my account. Avoid at all costs.

Improve Customer Service
They make you go through the sign up process before determining you are outside of the service area. And the map color is similar in tone. Please get someone with a UI/UX to look at your service area map. The app also charges for membership. I emailed customer support for a simple question and they weren’t helpful at all. I am hesitant about signing up for any new service founded by male Caucasians. They have the least customer service and empathetic businesses. Look at Airbnb, Lyft, Uber, etc.

Alto is definitely the number one car service in the cities that they compete in. I am writing this from Miami and well. Uber is good at responding quickly, the quality of the cars, for the drivers, and the competitive rates continue to keep Alto at the top of the list.

Cancelled my membership
On top of the membership fee the rides themselves are expensive but when you are actually able to get a ride it is usually fine. Unfortunately the times when I most need a ride (late night / airport pickup) it’s common for there to be no available cars. Alto does offer a month free when this happens but for how often it does occur it makes me rely less and less on this service.

I can finally ride carefree!
Alto is incredible! I love that I know what vehicle I’m getting in, I can have my phone charging, water and an umbrella to take if it’s every rainy. I can also feel safe knowing there are cameras in the vehicle! There is a membership fee but that is because they take care of there drivers so the drivers take care of you!

Exceptional Experience with Alto
Recently took my first Alto ride and it couldn’t have been better. Super clean car that was easily identifiable, very nice driver, and app works flawlessly. There is a minimal monthly fee, but otherwise I compared rates with other ride services and they were almost identical. Alto will be my go to ride company going forward.

Worth it!!
These folks are the best! The fantastic customer service support team was very helpful and understanding. Extremely comfortable and clean vehicle, with a safe minded driver behind the wheel, who was very nice. Highly recommend the membership if you frequent ride sharing services.

A better description would help
I downloaded the app. No where did it say that a had to purchase a membership in the app information. Not until I started to set it up did it say I had to get a membership. It had a “Free trial membership “ those free trials are not free. After a month all of a sudden with out any notice you get a charge coming our of you bank account with out you authorizing it. Better information on the app description please. I have deleted the app.

Great service
I’ve recently started using Alto and, so far, I’m loving it. The drivers have been very professional - and the “Alto” branding on the side of the car makes spotting my pickup easy. The “do not disturb” feature is great. After some not-so-great experiences on Uber and Lyft, I’m really liking Alto. I plan to keep using them.

I wish I had known
1. This a subscription service. A monthly membership fee is charged. 2. There is no obvious way to delete an account or a credit card once it has been entered I thought it would be nice to have an alternative to Lyft so I downloaded the app. I started setting up my account, entered all my info and connected a card. Next thing I know the app tells me it’s a subscription not a pay by ride like Uber or Lyft. Well I don’t want to do that so I go to delete my account. I can’t. I go to remove my card number. I can’t. Now I’ll have to deal with customer support via email. I don’t take issue with their business model I just wish these things had been made clear before I created an account which I apparently cannot delete.

Great App and Service Model
I have been using the Alto app for a few weeks now. It has a clean, user-intuitive interface and works very well in alignment to the car service I receive. As the company scales, enhancements are needed to the app which include ride history, receipt logging, and a clearer business profile including expensing features.

Uber who???
Alto is the way to go. Clean, comfortable and safe! I will use for myself and my teen age daughters. I would never feel safe sending my girls in an Uber or Lyft. High and dry
've tried via membership for two different periods. I quit the first time because although the service, cars and drivers are great, they almost NEVER have cars available to members. I've been left waiting for a half hour multiple times in central Dallas and had to pivot to Uber. I just tried again for a time-sensitive ride to the airport (including re-starting membership for advance reservation). I guess I had an old card in there and payment didn't go through. Did I get an alert? A text? A call as a paid member? Nope. Just an email. If I hadn't been rooting around for another message, we would have missed our flight. We'll never use them again. A shame, because the concept has promise.

Will be great, when they catch up with demand
If you plan to use them more than 1 round trip ($10) a month, it’s best to buy the membership ($13). Reliability that the cars and drivers will be trained for service and safety is exponentially greater than self employed driving services. However, cost is comparable to the “VIP Black” option of those services and, while still more reliable that the car and driver will be experienced and trained in service, always plan an additional 15 minute wait time for pick up and, possibly, longer. Availability of cars in the area can be patchy, depending where you are and number of members in the area using the service.

Amazing!

Always a stellar experience
I feel secure knowing that Alto drivers are on staff and not just freelance drivers. The cars are always immaculately clean inside and out. I also like how you can control the music that you listen to, including the volume, from the app.

Needs ability to add multiple stops
Without the ability to add multiple stops this app is useless! If you want to get picked up at point A and make multiple stops, and then get dropped off back in spot A it will stop and end the trip as soon as you get picked. This is so short sided. Also wait times are extremely long 30+ minutes! Great drivers but horrible app.
