Overall good, however, whenever you want to select a particular part of the text, it seems there’s a very serious time lapses, the selection tool just froze. But besides that it’s good overall.
I just started utilizing the iPad version of Atlasti. Still not very familiar with it but I love to have it handy on the go. I think it's a great idea especially for the ones that do data collection through interviews , as you can do a quick data analysis without having to do the conversion of files or the transcribing.
I have been having a trial version of atlasti7 and have it installed on my laptop for a while now. I loooove the product, I have always wanted to purchase the software but the growing wish for an App was just putting my purchase off! I can't be happier because of this App! The convenience of working freely on my iPad just makes life easier for me. I need all the time I can get to finish up my Master's degree and being able to use the great features of Atlasti7 on the go is just perfect for me.
This is a great portable option for first pass quoting and coding of audio and text immediately post-collection. However, as another reviewer noted, it slows considerably with larger amounts of data and isn't a replacement for the full version.
Good as a starting point in qualitative data analysis, as I found coding easier on my tablet than on the desktop. By the time I got through 50 interviews with 100 codes and 1100 quotations, though, the app was painfully slow.
This app is no longer compatible with DropBox. Could not upload files to my Mac for analysis on the desktop version of the software because of the outdated version of the app. Sent email to the company in February and someone responded saying the newer version of the app will be available by the beginning of April. It’s now mid-April no words from them yet.
Brilliant! Right out of the box, first effort, this is a HUGE advance for qualitative researchers. I will be using this all the time! A whole new ballgame!
Given that this is a companion app for software costing $500+ I'd expect it to be well-maintained. Instead it crashes immediately on trying to access the camera or microphone.
I started using Atlas.ti days ago, until now I find it's exciting to work with, and this App also make it so convinient. One problem is that sometimes I want to review the projects created on desktop I haven't found the access. Can I do that?
Crashes constantly, difficult to use with desktop version
This app seemed like an excellent tool and "compatibility" with the desktop version was a major reason I chose to purchase an Atlas.ti license when doing research. I made the mistake of recording interviews within the mobile version, on my iPad. However, it's proven a headache to try to get the recordings to upload to Dropbox and then be usable at all within the desktop version. AND, when I've given up on that and decided to transcribe by listening to the original recordings in Atlas.ti on my iPad, the entire app crashes every minute or so. Impossible to transcribe in these conditions, and I can't even easily export that single file as an audio file (have to upload the entire project to Dropbox). Atlas.ti itself gets great reviews, but definitely do not depend on this app and DEFINITELY do not use it to do original interview recordings or original notes.
Great app for on the go researchers. Ability to code directly onto your recordings. Also able to create codes and assign codes easily. Nice iPad interface.
The data collection and coding companion for users of ATLAS.ti. Record, segment, comment and code audio, video, image, textual and PDF documents. Export your projects for further analysis and reporting to ATLAS.ti desktop - The Qualitative Data Analysis & Research Software.
