Excellent 4 out of 5
I would give this app a 5 out of 5 if it did not freeze as much as it does when the device sits in the same place. The other thing that needs to be fixed when looking for radio station articles or announcements the app will back u out or shutdown. I know it sounds big but it is not. It makes having to restart the app every hr or so when played for an extended time period a pain. Also when it freezes and it is the only playing in the background in office it makes it a pain because someone is always yelling fix the app which disturbs the entire office. Fix these two things and I’ll change to 5 out of 5. Thanks for the good one currently. Sorry one last thing does not effect stars. Please let listeners know when not going to have sports games streaming on it. Thanks

A few issues
I only use Audacy to get my favorite sports station and for the most part it’s fine. But I often have issues where randomly every so often the app will go back about a minute maybe in the broadcast and replay what I just heard. At the end of a segment it will sometimes repeat that segment. This may be a CarPlay issue, but when connected to CarPlay it will occasionally stop playing audio while still “playing” the broadcast and I have to usually hit stop and then play to resume audio and maybe have to rewind depending how much I miss. When resuming listening my last listening session, it’s 50/50 whether the app does a new “boot up” and I have to go find the episode I was listening to under recents or it just brings up my last episode and I can just hit play. It does however usually resume where I left off or close to it. My favorite feature, the playback speed button, has been disabled for a few months now. Hopefully that comes back sooner rather than later so I can shorten my listening segments a bit. And this may be a CarPlay issue but it would be nice to have a chapter skip/back button in addition to the 15 second skip/rewind. And the only working button on the general audio screen is the play/pause. Skip/back don’t do anything and there’s no 15 skip.

Good but frustrating and disappointing.
Please read other reviewers frustrating reviews as of recent (Jan-Apr 2022). I am experiencing the same things as them. Below are a few positive experiences though I utilize this app because my local sports radio station WFAN 660AM is on it. So even when I’m not in the car, I can listen to my favorite sports talk radio station. The rewind feature is useful if I miss a segment or interview, and having each show upload “segments”as podcast sound bites is useful too so I can catch up later if I want too. What is frustrating is that sometimes this app does not play when the phone screen is locked. This forces me to restart my phone and log out of my account and then back in. Last year I was super excited when I learned that I would be able to listen to the AM radio broadcast of the Yankee game. This is the most frustrating thing….I live within broadcast metro area and sometimes I can listen to the game and sometimes it says I’m “out of the broadcast region” even when I’m listening in a location where it’s worked before. This is a big turn off for me and has me looked for the Yankee radio stream elsewhere. I have the location-service feature turned on, and I’ve even pre-selected the region to see if that would work in the app settings and it doesn’t work. This is extremely frustrating because radio broadcasts should be available no matter the situation.

Update: sent a message to the developers and they made some changes and they actually continued to give me periodic updates on the progress. They’ve since fixed the issue of having to continually delete and reload the app when it freezes up. Fingers crossed that it stays this way. Thank developers for listening. I’ve really enjoyed having this app so don’t take my 1 star review the wrong way. I need to listen to traffic in Philadelphia when coming out of South Jersey so I can get the Philly news station that updates traffic reports every 10 minutes. The latest update changed the entire look of the app. Since this last update, I’ve had nothing but issues. I have to reboot my phone, delete the app and reload it just to get it to start working, and even then the options are minimal. It won’t let me get to my favorites. The only thing it will let me do is search for the station I want. Then, if I get a phone call, it pauses like normal, but then I have to go through the process of rebooting and other steps to get it working again. I’m sure I’m not the only one having issues. Please fix the and I will update my review.

Lots of potential, but frustrating
I use this app primarily to listen to WFAN’s sports talk content. I could listen on the radio, but my schedule makes it more convenient to listen via streaming. I have two main frustrations: 1) is difficulty finding content, like Richard Neer’s Saturday and Sunday broadcasts, on the app. If I use the search feature in the app to search “Richard Neer” or “Neer” nothing comes up. So instead, I have to Google, put in “Richard Neer” and search thru several results to find a link that will bring me to his Audacy content, usually via an Apple podcasts link. This method usually works, but not always, and it’s cumbersome. Frustration number 2 is more serious: the app frequently freezes or drops out, especially at commercial breaks, and if I try to rewind during a delayed stream, the app often takes me to the live station stream, and it’s impossible to go back to find my place. For example, I was listening to Neer interviewing someone this morning, and I tried to hit the “rewind 15 seconds”’button, and it took me to the live stream. I have NO PROBLEM listening to ads - I know the app needs to get revenue somehow. So let us listen to the ads! Instead, when I get to the ads, the app freezes or crashes half of the time. Fix these issues and it goes to 5 stars; as is, it’s too frustrating to rate higher than 2 stars.

User experience is erratic
Playback is sometimes fine, but other times extremely frustrating. Program playback will sometimes spontaneously stop playing, at a commercial break or just in the middle of a segment. There doesn’t appear to be a discernible pattern as to when or why this happens. When that happens and you hit play to restart, it either will not start at all, or restarts from the beginning. When it decides to restart from the beginning even though you just want playback to continue from where it spontaneously stopped, the playback timeline incorrectly shows you’re restarting at the point it froze. Very aggravating. Also, sometimes the timeline slider will not allow you to move it at all. When that happens you have to pick a different program, and then go back to the program you’re listening to, or sometimes kill and restart the app. In either case you need to make a mental note of where you were in the timeline slider so you can get back to the right place after restarting the program or the app. The playback feature is a great feature when it works. When it doesn’t, the behavior it exhibits is very aggravating and is a bad user experience.

Great iPhone radio app, awful CarPlay implementation
I spend at least 3 hours driving daily. This app is the only one compatible with CarPlay that offers 1010 wins, so it was a no brained, but unfortunately the CarPlay implementation is more of a gimmick than anything. Favorite radios should be the first item in the list, that, or show them as icons immediately when opening the app, instead with have to browse trough the screen multiple menus to select a radio. We are driving remember? Where is the usability? The worst thing with this app however is the black screen I get 80% of the time when I touch the app icon on the CarPlay screen, the app works but the screen is empty. The only way I have to start listening to the radio I want is holding the phone and searching for the radio I want trough it, not the screen of CarPlay because there is nothing there. This is infuriating, and not an issue with my phone or car as I thought first. I tested it with my wife and kids iPhones (we all have different models) and our two cars, and it’s always the same issue. I tested it with a friend’s car and it’s the same thing. I’m pretty sure this is a great app as a stand-alone working with the phone, but please fix the CarPlay functionality.

So poorly designed
I’ve given this app two ratings and both were super poor. I live in the country away from my favorite radio stations, and have to stream the ones I listen to. They offer “full podcasts” of shows like Sarah & Vinnie but upload them in LITERALLY 1 min segments. One from earlier today is 56 seconds. How can I even work if I have to constantly go back into the app and go to the next minute? It used to be in segment blocks with commercials, which was WAY better because at least you could turn it on in the background and let it run. This app is also poorly designed because if you ever go to another app while a show is running, you start back at home and have to hit go through 3 clicks to get back where you were. Also, many times it glitches and even my 7 year old catches that it repeats a 20 second segment when trying to listen live. I don’t think the designers actually use this app because it isn’t user friendly or efficient. Two thumbs down, but I have to use it because it’s the only one that streams the shows I could hear when I used to live in the city.

Sleep Timer
I actually really like this app, it allows me to listen to most all of my favorite sports talk radio broadcasts. However just yesterday the app underwent a major upgrade and some format changes, one change that I found particularly disappointing was the removal of the sleep timer. I looked all over for it and could not find it on the app and when I searched Google I found out a decision was made to no longer include a sleep timer in the new format. I personally found this a very nice feature and would often set the timer for one hour at night while I would go to sleep listening to a sports show. I hope the developers of the app would reconsider the alarm/sleep timer portion of the app and add it back in. DJJ Since I wrote this review the developers have contacted me and advised they are updating the app to include the sleep timer feature, what great customer service, you made this listener feel heard.

LOTS OF BUGS. When playing music
This app is good with podcasts. The music stations they provide are just ok. BUT THEY WAY THEY DO THE MUSIC IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. No offense but I only use Audacy for lots of music (too cheap to get a better music app) and maybe one or two podcasts. But in the music stations when you start it up it’s fine but for real it’s horrible. It won’t work without WiFi and internet connection, and I would love a feature where I can go offline and still be able to listen to music. and it also will stop randomly in the middle of a song. It mixes up the album cover when it’s playing songs too. It doesn’t have the option to create playlists at all, and I feel any app which provides music should have this. You can’t really search up specific songs either. And you only get 6 skips and those go past so fast since it pulls up songs I hate. It’s not great. It also when I leave the app, next time I’m in it just plops me not on the song I left off on but the song like 10 songs back which is sooo annoying sometimes. That’s all thanks. PLEASE FIX THESE.

Too many bugs, not enough features
Update: This app has continued to get worse. It constantly has problems loading. The rewind feature is far from perfect. I have spent 20 minutes trying to listen to the pre-game show I have listened to for years. The app is blank or says it has troubles loading. Sometimes it will load the station info, and sometimes it won’t. I have tried force closing the app several times and reinstalling the app all together. As of today, I am done using this app. I love my radio station, but I have put up with this horrible app for years and now I can’t even get it to load. I will be listening to ESPN from now on. I am not exaggerating, this is the worst app I have ever installed on my Apple products. I enjoyed using the TuneIn app for many years. But my station (670 The Score) switched to using exclusively this app. I miss the ability to pause and record segments (as not everything I listen to has a podcast, such as postgame talk). My number one complaint is that the app randomly plays even if I have stopped it. I have to manually close the app every time or it will start playing again.

Listen to the app every day!!
I never listened to Audacy until I heard the morning show I listen to every day say to download the app for a change to win tickets to Justin Timberlake. Sadly I didn’t win but I have listened to the app ever since. I love that I can listen to the stations I loved back home, or I can listen to podcasts, which I haven’t tried yet but have that option. So far I’ve had no problems with the app. The only thing I’d like to be able to do is see how many entries I have when they do giveaways. It would be nice to see how many I have accumulated but it would also prove I’m actually being entered. So if you guys could do that Audacy that would be awesome, and if the ability is already available I would love to know how I can see that. Other then that I have no complaints. Yes there are adds but not bad and WAY LESS then regular radio! Definitely try it.

What happened?
This app used to be great. I’d listen to my local AM news station while getting ready for work in the morning and never had a problem. It would stop playing if I opened another app with sound, like a website with embedded video, but other than that playback was continuous and reliable. But after COVID and moving to working from home, I didn’t need it; I’d watch the news on tv instead. For whatever reason, I tried to use it this morning for the first time in awhile and all of a sudden (to me anyway) it won’t play in the background if I’m using another app or if the phone is locked. What in the world possessed the developers to make this change? Now the app is completely useless. I’m not going to drain my battery keeping my phone awake to listen to news I can just as easily get somewhere else. Change it back. ETA: thanks for your response. While I’m still baffled as to why that functionality became optional, enabling background refresh did work.

Buggy and frustrating
I use this to listen to WIP most days and I rarely listen live. One of the benefits of the playback is that you can go to different chapters of the show or you can just fast-forward in the middle of a segment. Anytime I do that it goes to a long, annoying commercial segment which I can’t skip unless I close out the app. This commercial segment is not part of the show. When I go back in to the show, it often will continue to go to the commercials for a while. Recently I’ve just decided to let the commercials play out, and now it often just goes to dead air after one or two commercials and is frozen, and when I close out of the app and go back, it continues to do that and I’m stuck in a loop where I literally can’t listen to the show anymore. It’s so frustrating. There’s also a bug where sometimes it will skip back about a minute and you’re listening to the same content. Finally, the organization of the app is not great and sometimes it’s hard to find what you are looking for.

Too many bugs
They’re lucky I didn’t give 1 star. I only use this app to listen to 1 station and it’s so inconsistent, I rarely waste my time. It automatically tries to play my favorite station when I open the app which is fine. But half the time, it fails to load. While casually listening, it’ll randomly freeze and stop playing. But once I hit pause and play, it resumes as if there wasn’t a problem. Other times, it’ll continuously run ads for minutes until I stop it. Other times while listening to a live stream, it’ll rewind itself to the beginning of the stream without warning me. I only realize it if I’ve been listening from the beginning and start to hear things I’ve heard before. These issues could be overlooked if it weren’t such a constant occurrence. I drive for a living spending 8-14 hours a day on the road and I can rarely get through a couple hours without an issue arising. I thought when they change to Audacy, things would get better but it’s the same app with a new logo

New company , same garbage app
I listen to talk radio on this app. I would say freezes between 10 and 12 times an hour for four seconds each time. Most times I pause to talk to someone or answer a phone call or make a phone call it doesn’t hold my place and resets. Especially on demand. When I listen to on demand it tries to skip commercials but ends up either starting the show over or replaying the segment I had just listened to. Which is a lot of fun when you’re trying to drive let me tell you. I also get caught in advertisement loops where I’ve heard up to 10 advertisements in a row before closing the app and restarting it just to get back to the live programming. Sometimes I’ll be listening to a show and receive a phone call and the app doesn’t restart where I left off but when I play the program back it’ll restart at the beginning of the segment or the entire show. Then I have to try to fast forward and find the spot where it left off. Which once again is a lot of fun when you’re trying to drive. And that’s if the rewind and fast-forward functions actually work because a lot of times the app says it’s not connecting and everything but the play/pause button is grayed out. When the app works it’s great and I love it unfortunately I would say that’s less than half the time I use it. 3 out of 10 in baseball is batting 300 and makes you an all-star. In the app world it makes you a failure. Please fix!

Needs accessibility enhancements or improvements
I download this app at the suggestion of a friend of mine. I like it but it needs some serious accessibility improvements. Those of us that use voiceover which is a talking part of the iOS need to know what we are doing and how to get favorites. Also, the pictures that are shown on the screen aren’t labeled properly so voiceover doesn’t know how to tell those of us who are blind or visually impaired what the object on screen is. I hope that the developers of this app will take this feedback and give it some consideration. Maybe even write a response back to this review. I would love to talk to them. Also, our speech says that there are buttons twice. Is this true? Or is this a bug in the application when it comes to using voiceover? I am not able to get in touch with intercom‘s corporate offices to speak to them about this application so I’m hoping that someone will read this review and get back to me as previously stated.

Tragically, my most used app.
This is both my most used app, and the absolute worst app I use. I stream out of market sports radio (shout out 97.1 The Ticket Detroit). It constantly crashes. It gets stuck in endless commercial loops. It goes mute, to which the only option is to start the show at the beginning, fast forward 15 seconds at a time through hours of radio until it clicks back on. It randomly doesn’t play certain shows. The new wrinkle(I assume they added this as an April fools, and due to covid-19 just forgot to shut it off) is that it plays with no audio, and the only way to get it to work is to restart my device, delete and reinstall the app, rinse and repeat until it decides to play. If there are any alternative options for radio streaming out there, please someone let me know. I cannot understate what a simmering kettle of goat droppings this app is. It was terrible years ago, and continues to get incrementally worse with each update. Pure trash. I would happily pay a few bucks for a functioning app, especially considering how frequently I use said app.

The good the bad the ugly
The good is I get to catch the ONLY station I listen to on here because it’s not available anywhere else. The bad is whether I’m home on wifi or on the road (truck driver) this app since the station switched to it has ALWAYS and CONTINUALLY lets me down because it stops like it crashes interrupting what I’m listening to. I can’t go back using the 15 sec button because that doesn’t work properly and it takes forever then that stops. Continual buffering is a huge problem also. The ugly is you guys haven’t fixed this bug yet I’ve been listening over a year and it’s never been addressed. I know the station I listen to can’t be the only problem on here. There’s got to be other people and things they listen to going through the same thing. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE! (maybe my bad and ugly review parts should be switched) also I’m on spectrum wifi with the highest package no issues and my cell is on 5g with Verizon and a iPhone 12 Pro max so it’s not me.

Crashes constantly. Plays when closed. Won’t stop playing.
The media networks who have contracts with Audacy should cancel with cause. It’s impossible to listen without the app stopping, ALL the time. I’m forced to use this garbage app to hear a favorite station daily. I’ve used Audacy for years, since my station moved from TuneIn. Audacy has been garbage with the SAME problems for years now. It’s so fun hitting stop on my phones home screen only to have the app refuse to stop playing - it forces to close the app entirely or in some cases, restart the phone. The app drops radio streams as if it’s a buffering problem (I have 60gb free space), and hitting play again, if it even causes a reaction from the app, only streams for another millisecond. If you want to keep playing you have to close and restart the app. If Audacy devoted even half the time to software engineering that they do to post worthless customer service responses to App Store reviews, the app would work properly like all of their competitors. Apple should remove this garbage permanently.

Unnecessarily complex update
I deleted a star from my last review because I’ve given up. This update is still needlessly complex and non intuitive. It is difficult to navigate even the simplest tasks. The emphasis of this update is definitely based in appearance as opposed to usability. It’s a shame. I used to love to use it. I have 3 academic degrees, including a doctorate, and after 2 months of using this version, I still can figure out how it works. I pretty much use it for one reason, to listen to the radio. It drops streams, starts and stops on its own, I still can’t figure out why live radio is divided into chapters and it stops playing after each one. The support people are nice and responsive but spend most of their time trying to convince me that I like it instead of fixing the issues. I went back and looked at the reviews from the time they released version 15 and they are universally awful. There is another app that has the content that I want and is much simpler to use. I think I’ll change to that one.

Needs two immediate fixes
1. Right now, if you are chosing a terrestrial radio station, WXYZ, and you’re using the feature where you can View Guide to go back on the stations timeline and listen to a show from a few hours ago, it’s pretty great. Except for one thing: if you stop or go away for any reason: a phone call, you have to watch a video, or you just need to pause the audio for a while, when you return to the app, it only remembers your place for a few minutes! It’s maddening. It should remember your place for at least 3 hours. Or give you a choice in settings to A) Reset immediately B) Remember my place for 3 hours C) Remember my place until I change 2. I keep getting these pointless pop up windows telling me to log in. Except… I am already logged in. This happens pretty much every day. It should be able to detect if I’m logged in, and not give me a pop up if I am. This also is maddening. I hope Audacy reads these and will make these changes. I’d give the app 5* if they fixed this stuff.

Timely
I have listened to CBS 880AM News Radio for many years. I (and I’m sure many other listeners) rely on the broadcast for accurate time references, while I’m doing other things. With the app, there is always a small time delay. It is inconsistent, so it is impossible to accurately compensate for. More significant for me, is that when segments of the broadcast are repeated, any time references are not deleted, so the inaccuracy can be hours. It can be frustrating. Also, when listening, to “Live” broadcasts, the app stops the broadcast at the end of a segment, and I have to restart. It is inconvenient and often not practical. Is there a way to allow the broadcast to continue indefinitely, so it doesn’t have to be restarted? Other than those issues, I find the broadcasts informative, and I appreciate the material and the personalities. Correcting these issues could make the app near perfect. Thanks!

Terrible app
I really dislike this app. I use it mostly with Apple CarPlay and most of the time my car’s display screen is completely blank instead of showing me what the app should be displaying. I don’t have that problem with any other app I use via CarPlay. Independent of the CarPlay experience, the app will often repeat segments of audio (like, jump backwards 10s and just restart from there) or just stop playing entirely. I can never seem to “catch up” to whatever the live audio should be. I know it won’t ever be completely caught up to what’s actually coming over AM/FM, but if I leave the car for like 20 min it’ll pick back up from where I left off and even if I try to skip ahead to where I would be if I hadn’t left the car it’ll just keep starting over from where it was when I turned my car back on. The only reason I use this app is because I literally have no other choice if I want to listen to the radio stations I like as I no longer live in the area they broadcast.

Skips, freezes, repeats randomly
I like using this app to listen to sports radio shows. For the most part, it works pretty well. When I started listening, they had a feature to allow you to listen to audio at different speeds, but it didn’t work at all. There was just a message saying that the feature had problems and would be available at a later date. Well, it’s now been available (on my iPhone at least) for a few months now. This feature has several bugs: It randomly rewinds and makes me listen to the last 15-30 seconds a second time. It randomly skips backwards to the beginning of a chapter and makes me listen to the commercial again. It ALWAYS reverts to normal speed going into and coming out of commercials (very annoying if you can’t touch your phone while listening). I wish this app was better…

Glitches and commercials
This app gets 2 stars just for being a modern miracle of providing access to local radio anywhere in the world. After that, it is mostly frustrating as an app - cuts out, (and still repeats the broadcast - usually a few seconds better than when it did a few minutes), and several minutes of commercials are triggered when trying to change stations, remove headphones, or move to a different part of a broadcast, whether I’ve been listening for 5 seconds or 5 minutes. Commercials also triggered by iPhone ringing or following a system glitch when the signal cuts out (even when my phone has not moved and is getting a constant wifi signal) or the app spontaneously skips like a vinyl record and repeats the last few seconds. Ive enjoyed the modern miracle, but it is time to rebuild the app and save Audacy-owned radio stations before we’re all just listening to podcasts.

Constant playback issues
I am a truck driver so often I’m away from my home town and have to rely on Audacy when I’m driving. I love the idea of this app but I’m not sure if it’s the software or what but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been a half hour yo an hour behind live, pause the station while I do a delivery or even for a few seconds sometimes, when I hit play the app either crashes entirely or glitches and fast forwards me to live and I have to try to adjust on the fly while driving. It happens so much sometimes I get fed up and just give up instead of toying with it. If this issue could be fixed I’d give this app 10 stars but I can’t go above 1 when it can’t do the one main thing it is advertised to do. And the ads are the most annoying repetitive bits I’ve ever heard. Thank GOD the bird dog shorts ad doesn’t play anymore because I was close to uninstalling entirely if I had to hear that dudes plea to Mark Cuban again. Anyways, 1 star. Great idea, terrible execution.

Has potential, but is VERY buggy and glitchy!!
I have never written a review for the App Store before, but this app really needs it, so my review might be quite long. I personally use it for finding new music, so I don’t listen to the podcasts nor the news, so I don’t have any experience with using those in the app. Pros: it has a fine selection of music for listening, a little bit small for my liking, but decent nonetheless. I like that there’s no ads, that’s a major plus for ANY music app! A sleep timer is nice too, although I don’t think I’d ever use it, knowing that other people seem to like it is nice to know. Cons: Like my review grabber said, this app is VERY buggy and has so much potential to grow. For an example: It’s difficult to skip and/or pause songs. It’s almost like a 10+ second delay to wait for a song to be paused or skipped. Another con, the player’s “menu”/UI bugs out very easily. You have to pull it down slowly sometimes for it to work, but other times, it works well. Last con: Sometimes it times out and crashes. It’s real annoying when you have to look for what you were just listening to when it never loaded in the first place. I hope that this app slowly gets more updates and these issues can be fixed, because I really do see myself using this more often if more issues get fixed.

I have previously used TuneIn before this app but since Enter-com Communications switched all of its stations over to their app it has made my life harder and looking at the other reviews I think others too. If you are going to switch apps 1. Please tell us you are going to switch soon so we have a heads up. 2. Make sure you have great execution of the app you are making and make SURE the consumers like it and that it works well. This app has connectivity issues all the time, sometimes it will say that it is playing and I can’t hear anything or it will play then stop then start playing again. What I do appreciate is the you release app updates often. If you can fix the bugs/crashes I think you will make a lot more people happy. To all companies and people out there. Inability to understand
I’d give a zero if I could. The application allegedly has location services yet is unable to determine that I am NOT in Chicago where Starlink servers are. After multiple back and forths with their devs, they seem unable to grasp what I’m even trying to tell them. So one more time. I live in Michigan. The application HAS location services yet somehow thinks I am over 200 miles west in Chicago. Not being able to fix it is one thing. Not being able to even comprehend the issue is second level incompetence Update Location says Flint. Starlink IP says Chicago. Another blacked out Detroit Tigers broadcast . Still looking for that ZERO review numbered Update: it looks like they’ve fixed the location issues. The app still closes whenever it wants but I can live with that

Endless identical commercials
I enjoy the app as to hear my hometown station. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to hear it any other way. With that said I can’t stand the same identical commercials over and over again for months & months. I understand you need to pay the bills but can’t the advertisers have diff ads. Been hearing some of them for over a year. It’s maddening and makes not want to ever buy their product ever! Yes, I’m talking to you State Farm & AT&T and others. Also the length of the ad time is longer then TV! The rewind of only 15 secs is not enough. Maybe 15secs, 1 min or such. Please stop with starting the ads over when you rewind I already heard those ads live. Why do I have to hear them again to rewind! Hoping this update fixes that. Otherwise thank you for radio out of market! AM/FM live Sports Radio is important to some of us! It’s great you can go back to shows you missed!

Great selection, however
I use this app all the time for Chicago Cubs baseball and AM 670 the score. However, the volume of the main broadcast feed is drastically lower in decibel output than the commercials. Therefore, when you have the main stream set to the appropriate volume level desired, the commercials are extremely painful and you’re almost not able to leave the commercials at the volume that you had the main programming on. So it’s a waste of time and a pain to deal with. Also hazardous to your ears if you’re wearing headphones or near speakers. The levels need to be adjusted and the pushed programming for commercials needs to be equal or lower than the main programming decibel output. Comically, this reminds me of the 90s and TV commercials. However, it’s 2024 and this app/ the contracts being filled are hopefully larger than this poor choice.

Rewind feature
I’m writing this review since I actually use this app daily now that the put the rewind feature in. Also, I only use the app to listen to wfan. They finally caught up to the times and made their content sort of on demand now with the 24 hour rewind feature. It works great, but the reason I made it 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that when you pause it for more than a couple minutes, the app will not hold your place correctly. For example if I pause and come back after 10 seconds or so it’s fine, but if I pause the stream and come back 5 or 20 minutes later it will either take me to the begging of the previous segment, or the beginning of the next segment. It won’t just stay where i paused it in the middle of a program.

Sad
I loved this app when I first started using it but after the first update I had to re-follow all my podcast & wasn’t able to add anything to my queue. When I reached out to support they gave me the instructions to do what I had already tried & it didn’t work again, they were never able to correct the issue. Now this week nothing will play unless I delete & reinstall the app & resign in. If I am not using the app it stops working. Again I have reached out to support. This time I am getting a lot of questions from them including asking for my IP address without a explanation as to why they needed that information with no resolution, long delays getting back to me, & blaming my system even though it is happening everywhere & every setting I have tried. I don’t want to leave the app because my local radio station is on it but I am getting super frustrated.

Really wish this app was better
I use Audacy to listen to my sports radio mainly, because it has playback where I can listen to shows that already aired. The problem is that this app is SO glitchy. It basically never saves my spot where I was listening even if I go in and press pause. Then, it won’t let me seek through the show with the time bar, and if I try it starts playing ads that I can’t skip. I don’t mind the ads but when it doesn’t save my place and then it won’t let me find where I was it’s super annoying because then I have to skip through the whole show with the 15 second skip button. It also has terrible network connection and frequently stops when I do try to skip through it. I almost wish I could just download the shows so I don’t have to deal with it. Wish it worked more efficiently like the Apple Podcasts app.

Shorty, result of monopoly on network deals
This is the FOURTH time I’ve come back to review this app. Functionally it makes me want to put my fist through a wall. It does the exact opposite of what I want at any given time. It is terrible. Traps you in endless internet style ad loops multiple times a day. Forgets where you are during playback. Just came back to say this app is still terrible. Endless national ad loops played over local ads and local shows. Tells me to log on and then tells me I’m already logged on. Doesn’t remember my favorite stations. The only reason this app exists is to make ad money for executives. It is not made to play radio stations effectively. If you could access the same stations from a different app, you would. Came back months later while stuck in an endless national ad loop to say this app is still terrible and I don’t even understand how it’s legal to pirate radio stations when ever they choose.

Audacy Radio
I used this when it was Rdio and then I downloaded when it switched. Although this app is many times more stable than the older one was I gotta say this. I’m REALLY disappointed in the commercials. Not in having them. But In every single break in my local market I’m being spammed with the same commercial over and over and over again. To the tune of as many as 5 or 6 times in a row I hear the same commercial. Every time they break. Either it’s Olivia Munn, or the being a dad, or now the newest one which is the whole rewind that they’re doing for 9-11. I totally get the self promotion aspect of the industry. But this is so much spam that I’m seriously done using this app. I can’t take the same commercial 50 times and hour. Either fix this issue or sorry. You lost a customer cause I’ll go back to radio. At least there I can hear a mix of commercials

Audacy
A great app for listening to local radio or podcasts. In my case it’s WSCR and WXRT. The sound is great and the signal, at times, perfect. On the other hand, there are some issues. For example, when you select to listen live, it often tries to force you back to where you were previously. Listen live should mean listen live. Also, I find that the service will abruptly stop at times. This is often when one show starts and another ends. I find this annoying because some of the shows I listen to will feature crosstalk between the departing and incoming shows, which is a joy of mine. The shows will also inexplicably jump back in time or repeat parts. Maybe it’s the cell service, I don’t know. At any rate, it’s where my shows are and when it’s working, it’s great, warts and all.

Stop adding features and fix the bugs
This is, and has always been, the worst high profile app I have ever used. Nothing, NOTHING works right in this app. It doesn’t even work correctly with the audio controls on the Lock Screen — stopping, starting, skip forward or back DO NOT WORK on the Lock Screen; you have to unlock and go back to the app. Any kind of streaming breaks the app — to a HomePod, to an Apple TV, to CarPlay, it is ALL broken. Streaming to an Apple TV will stop when the Apple TV goes to screen saver — no correctly programmed audio app does that. CarPlay will just open the app to a blank screen on the car display. How can this app have been around for 12+ years and still be this completely broken? For the love of God, developers, stop adding new features and just fix the stupid app. If I had any other way to listen to some of my favorite radio stations, I would have stopped using this app A DECADE AGO.

What’s going on? Some stations disappeared and lagging issues:
This psat Friday 5/17 after bout two months prior to when I contacted both your team and Townsquare Media owner of stations that were showing up on the Audacy app on my LG smart TV, but not on my phone about the issues they finally showed up. This past Saturday 5/18 the stations disappeared that evening when I went on the app on my phone, but stations are still on TV app. Also this past Friday 5/17 after I discovered the stations were finally on the app I followed my favorite ones that I like and it made the app kind of buggy laggy. A request: please add search by city back on the smartphone app. One feature that I miss on the smartphone app that the TV app has

Doesn’t play nicely with iOS 15
Since I upgraded to iOS 15, this app no longer plays unless it is on screen. I can no longer listen to the Audacy radio when I am checking the weather or news. When my phone goes to the lock screen, Audacy stops playing. I’d be grateful if either Audacy or Apple might get address this! Updated review: Now, Audacy won’t play at all on my iPhone 11 running iOS 15. After several quits, it now gives silence even when the screen shows that it is playing. Although this app works fine on iOS 14, I have had to delete it from my iOS 15 phone. It’s frustrating, as one of my favorite shows is only available to stream on Audacy, and I can’t listen to it on my phone until you upgrade the app to work with iOS 15. I will try again after a week or two, but for now, Audacy is simply not usable on iOS 15. Please upgrade, I’ll revise this review when you do!

Horrendous
I unfortunately use this app all the time to listen to one radio station I enjoy. The rewind feature is broken frequently. Sometimes if I pause while listening to a show, as soon as I resume it jumps to live and I have to figure out where I was. Other times, I will start the app and an endless commercial loop will run and the station I chose will never start unless I close the app and re-open. It’s actually completely embarrassing that a company of this size and value can’t get the interface on their app right. It’s like the competition is twenty years ahead. This app is so brutal that it inspired me to write the first negative app review I’ve ever written. Since it’s the only way to stream the live radio I am looking for, I guess I will continue to use it, but it truly is an unacceptable experience. This company seems absolutely lost when it comes to making a great interface and useable app when compared to their peers.

I love it and I hate it
I love this app because I can listen to my favorite and my local stations, even when I am not in my home city. I despise this app because of the way it acts on my iPad. The jump to live button never works. It freezes constantly. Sometimes, I don’t use this app for a few days. When I return to the app, the app will pick up where it left off, even though I have disabled that function. I don’t want to listen to the news in my local area from three days ago, I want to listen to what is happening now. In order to do that, I have to power down my iPad, then power it back up so that everything resets on the iPad, just to listen to live radio. It’s more bother than it’s worth. And your pop ups are really, really annoying. If this doesn’t get better, I will be deleting Audacy and go back to SXM.

This worked great until the last “update”..
I downloaded this to replace my previous live radio app that is no longer supported by Apple’s App Store. (Next Radio was better, not sure why its gone). Everything was working fine until the last update. Now this app drains my battery noticeably faster, you can’t switch between apps without the radio stream being cut off, you also can’t let your phone go in to “rest mode” (let the screen/battery saving feature do its job). The app stays open and keeps your screen on the whole time now. I guess I’ll start looking for a radio app to replace this one. They do soooo much advertising for this app, but its apparently not up to task for what most people would consider basic features. Very dissatisfied

Not great, but it’ll do…
Native Houstonian that commutes out of country for work. While I’m away I try to stay informed with the local sports teams via radio. While I can tune into Sports Radio 610 Houston to stay in the loop, it annoys me that I have to use a VPN in order to tune in as it affects my phone battery. Another thing that’s really annoying is that after every interruption i.e. phone call, video played, random service interruption, etc. I have to go and manually restart the player. Before Audacy took over when I opened the app the station would automatically start playing and would resume playing automatically after each interruption I mentioned above. For those annoying reasons I can’t rate the app higher than 3 Stars.

Feed Highjacking
Nearly every time I select play, Audacy highjacks my chosen station’s feed forcing me to listen to whatever commercials they’ve decided to shove down our throats, regardless of whether or not the station is live or not. I’ve confirmed this by immediately stopping play, then resuming play. The vast majority of times I do this, I find the station is actually live, meaning that Audacy regularly highjacks the feed of stations of content listeners have a RIGHT to hear. Upon addressing this issue with customer/technical support, they want my IP address to “assist” them in identifying the problem, which implies the “problem” lies only within the confines of my IP address. My issue with this is that I want this “problem” corrected/eliminated platform wide as I believe this “problem” is a tactic used by Audacy platform wide in order to nefariously increased their ad revenue on the box of consumers, free-radio-broadcast listeners!

Mixed bag
I have been using this app to listen to my hometown sports radio shows for years. When streaming live, the app works beautifully. The issues come when trying to listen to previous radio shows - constant crashing and service outage. Constantly have to close and reopen the app. Whenever I select something to listen to 9/10 times it doesn’t work and I have to close and reopen and reselect. And forget being able to start an episode where you left off, it often restarts the episode at a much previous point and then crashes when you try to select a later segment. It’s a bit of a nightmare at times. But I’m stuck with it as my shows are only available through this app, and I dread having to use it for anything besides live streaming. Incredibly frustrating. Same issue on multiple phones. Same problems for YEARS, FIGURE IT OUT.

Gets worse every time they update
Every time this app gets updated it gets less intuitive and less stable. The most recent version likes to travel forward and back through time without telling you. Enjoying live radio? Let me jump to the show that was on 8hrs ago. Catching up on the morning show you missed? Let’s cut back to live radio while you’re driving. And we decided that getting back to your station shouldn’t be a 1 button process anymore. So during its frequent crashes and misbehaving while driving, you are stuck or forced to be a dangerous driver while you figure what mood the app is in. I wish my favorite station would ditch this app completely and go back to their own software which was great. But corporation seldom act in the best interest of their costumers.

Awfulcy
App shuts down 10 times a day between 6:30am to 10am. I can leave my phone sitting on my desk and it goes out without changing location of the phone. I contacted support and they say they don’t have any problem. I have a radio app I used to listen to my station on but now awfulcy doesn’t allow it. The other app was flawless. Update: I just received a developer response about my review. They said "Hello, Thank you for the review! We see your unpleasant experience streaming the Audacy app and about changing locations frequently.” This is the absolute opposite of what I said! This is what you get when contacting Audacy. They shift blame away from their sub par app onto the user. This app is horrible. If you open another app while listening it shuts down. Then audacity wants to blame the user. Stop holding your stations captive and allow them to be accessed by apps that work!

Awful app, unstable, never works
Apple needs to do something about ratings. 4.5 star rating is completely laughable. It’s a bunch of company employees rating it 5 stars to artificially boost the rating. Completely misleading. If you want the real reviews on this, filter by most recent and read any of the reviews. There are a number of problems with this app and it seems the problems change almost weekly. Requires creating an account to play, app crashes regularly, advertisements cut into live feed and completely random. Most days the feature to go back and play a specific time doesn’t work at all or if you do, the app has this odd 10-15 play back loop you get stuck in just listening to the same section over and over. Feels like its 1 guy in his basement working on this app in his free time and this isn’t his day job. Absolute failure of an app.
