This app has great potential and is a highly sought product for furniture refinishers. Its a bit pricey though so I think the features need to be flushed out better to command this price point. I am testing it out with the 7 day trial. The AI generator has not worked for me despite trying numerous pieces of furniture, I get no results. The taping is a bit cumbersome and could use an offset so you can see where the points are getting set. Some of the tool names are not very intuitive and work clumsily. I cant find where to delete a project. Working on layers is not at all what I would expect. There is a lot of guessing on the part of the user as to how to get this to work. An AI background remover would be great. Id love to QA this app for a free subscription.
I’m a professional furniture flipper that found this app during its beta phase. I was more than happy that there was finally a program that fit my specific needs of redesigning furniture without having to learn various programs like photoshop or working around limitations on other programs— or worse, having to hand draw my designs. Since finding this app, I’m able to plan out every furniture flip before getting started so I can visualize my design as well as show clients different options for redesigning their own furniture. I’m able to easily swap out hardware, change the paint color with accuracy due to their color dropper feature from, and add in various design elements within minutes. One of its most unique features is being able to use AI to offer ideas for furniture flips or room redesigns. This is especially helpful when I’m feeling stuck on a design direction. I honestly couldn’t flip furniture as efficiently as I do without this app.
I flip furniture as a hobby and I work with clients a lot. This app is perfect for helping me work through different designs to see what I like best as well as for mocking up designs for clients! I’ve found that clients can’t always imagine things in their head so this gives them the ease and comfort of knowing what they’re getting and it comforts me to know they like it before I’ve even created it!! I’ve been using this app back when it was just a web browser version and it just keeps getting better and better! The developers are constantly putting out new and improved features that I never even thought about having but make my life easier. They are great at implementing feedback, responding to questions and I am so impressed with this app’s abilities. In my opinion it is pretty intuitive, there was a learning curve at first like most design apps. But take the time to learn and play with it! I promise you will not regret it!!
Before I had this app I was using the marker tool on IG to share ideas about paint colors on my pieces and I couldn’t really share that with clients. Really love the paint feature and how I can choose paint colors from a photo. Painter’s tape when I am doing a different color or stain on a row of drawers. Only thing is I want to go straight to changing the colors sometimes, but to get the colors to look right I have to erase hardware first. Is there anyway to make paint go under the hardware automatically? That would be awesome and save me time. Still really helpful comparing options and sharing designs with clients.
Bristles is a game changer! I use this app to dream up designs for future furniture pieces to refinish. It has saved so much time on decision-making when it comes to how a piece will be refinished. I can upload a client’s piece of furniture, digitally refinish it in Bristles and then send to my client so they can see what their piece will look like once completed. They are always adding new features to make it even more precise. You can even let AI design your furniture or room for you! 10/10 recommend!
I was initially excited about the concept of this app, but it needs significant improvement, especially given its price point. Frankly, I'm not sure I'd use it even if it were free because it simply doesn't perform well. The painting feature is frustrating to use; it's hard to get started, and the colors appear transparent despite setting the opacity to maximum. The AI design function is disappointing as well. It keeps generating very similar designs, and the upvoting and downvoting feature doesn't seem to influence the results at all. I also wish there were options to specify the style, colors, and other preferences to guide the AI in generating designs. The app's examples suggest it can produce realistic results, but my experiences have been quite the opposite. The outputs look like poorly done filters rather than polished designs. I’m puzzled by the positive reviews claiming frequent use with clients. After experimenting with different pieces of furniture, I didn't get any results that I would consider useful or presentable to a client. Sketching by hand would yield better results. I was really looking forward to using this app and wanted to love it, but unfortunately, it is far from usable in its current state.
I am loving the Bristles app! There are many great features on the app but one of my favorites has to be the AI idea generator. It's like having a personal creative assistant at your fingertips, offering a constant stream of fresh ideas wherever I need a spark of inspiration. It has certainly helped me discover design solutions I would have never thought of on my own! This has quickly become a go to app for me when redesigning or setting up a new space!
I absolutely love this app!! I am a professional furniture flipper and I downloaded this app to help figure out my designs before starting a project. It is so easy to use and a very fair price. It is also a great way to create mockup designs for clients. I love moving around different types of hardware and really seeing what will look best on my furniture. If you don’t have this app already you need it!!!
It is so great to help lay out your design choices on furniture refinishing or a room make over. I love how you can use everything real colors, hardware, accents etc…. It is easy to use and the short tutorials are so helpful. They listen to feedback and constantly adding in enhanced features. Can’t imagine not having this now to help bring my ideas to fruition.
I’ve been looking for a tool like this for a LONG time. I use this for home design decisions—I can test out a new placement of a picture before hanging, a new furniture arrangement, or new paint color. It’s useful in so many ways—and QUICK. Sometimes I just use it to satisfy my curiosity—what would XYZ look like in this space?
This has terribly generated ideas that look like deepfakes from 2016 some of the designs are outlandish and just don’t make sense and it will only give you a max of like 6 ideas pressing and then the generate button does nothing. Considering how much the subscription for this was i feel really ripped off. The only plus side is being able to paint and build your own piece but even then your options are terribly limited. The colors are few and things you can do are a handfull
I flip furniture and do a lot of customizations, this app allows me to help my clients decide on color or stain and design and easily edit it to their liking. It has a learning curve for usage but after a few weeks of using the app, I think I can consider myself a super user!
I cannot say enough about this app! I just started using it and love it so much. I was able to do a great mockup of a set of end tables and the end result mirrored the mockup. I found it very user-friendly and I am already planning my next project!
I have used this app for over a year and I love being able to show my husband the vision I have for my projects before I start working. This app is very user friendly and is perfect for flipping furniture or designing spaces.
Not a fan of apps lately that are vaguely represented as free but when you go through the trouble of downloading it’s a 7 day trial that forces you to cough up a sub. If you get to cancel within those 7 days your stuck paying for some inferior application. I recommend using desktop apps or going directly to the numerous ai websites to do something like this and get ideas. This gives you some convenience because you are doing it by phone. Good luck.
This app seems like it’s in the early stages of being created. The paint brush only works when it wants to, tape is very odd to use and when you do finally get the pain to work, it looks like the old school computer painting program from the 90s. It’s good they offer a free trial because I would have been so upset if I spent money on this. Also, the AI designs were hilarious. It turned one of my wood dressers into wicker….like am I supposed to do that? 😂
In my free trial it worked like a charm. Projects loaded quick, quick to get new ideas. Now that I’ve paid for the subscription it’s taking forever to load. So much so that I just give up & close the app and forget about it. I’m disappointed to say the least. Great app when it works…
i spent about 2 hours just trying to see what a dresser would look like blue and it was so difficult to get the right shade, which just looked like a highlighter drew over it. the ai feature does not work during the free trial, so i’m not sure what the point of the trial is. not user friendly at all and pretty disappointing.
I tried it before you had to pay to use any features. This app would be useful but considering it’s limits and the amount of time any given person would use it for, it’s just not worth the price.
I won’t subscribe to something just to try it. If I don’t like it, then I have to cancel the subscription. Let me try it for 7 days, then prompt for a subscription to continue. If it’s valuable to me, I’ll pay for it, but I need to have a sense of the value before I’m signing up for anything.
Really hard to use software. Does not allow you to edit properly and is not intuitive. The worst part is it doesn’t give you the color shade names if I would like to actually go out and mimic what was suggested I would have no idea what color to use.
Glitchy, AI doesn’t really work. Produces no suggestions and the one time it did it produced a graffiti dresser. Paint tool doesn’t work well. Made a solid color box instead of painting the furniture. I reloaded it and it wouldn’t pull up my one design no attempted. And there is a charge. This needs a lot of work.
I signed up and got a welcome screen asking where I heard about the app. Could not get past that. List was too long, went off screen and doesn’t scroll. App totally useless if you can’t get into it.
You cannot contact customer support through the app, I’ve been looking for a program that does what I need and this is okay but just wasn’t it. Canceled the free trial but was charged $50 anyway, for nothing.
They advertise it for something much more interesting. It’s a good concept but there clearly needs to be more work done on this app before ANYONE should consider buying it for $7.99. Better luck next time Bristle
Free to download but to use the app you must subscribe to a membership which is $7.99 per month, which is outrageous, or sign up for a free trial that requires your payment information. So disappointed.
I didn’t realize this was a monthly subscription service until after I had set up an account. However, after two tries, I still didn’t receive the code to get in and now that I know that it’s a subscription service I will be deleting the app.
$7.99 a month or $47.99 annually is insane. Should be a flat fee of $5/$10 to get all access for LIFE. Not doing a free trial either. Companies are getting too greedy and it shows. Take an economics course and you’d learn that a one time fee would make you more money than a subscription because more people would buy it.
