I relapsed during the shutdown…I’m an RN first sober in 1992 when I was confronted by my fellow nurses (in a loving but deadly serious way) and dove head first into recovery via invitations from Board of Nursing. Thank you HP! I’m the oldest child in a large dysfunctional family, parents had emotional/marital problems and divorced after 13 years leaving kids and mom befuddled and dirt poor. I relapsed during the pandemic (imagine that!) after 25 years and I found myself in the desert alone with my BB. This was the app I purchased after deciding it was time to stop, again…MY HP was there too and I’m here one day at a time almost 4 years later. My distant friend who suddenly called wondering if I’m alright is now my sponsor and WE use the app daily in our communications and practice by reading and sharing daily. Thank you for carrying the message in such a cool way. I absolutely love that approved literature is available at a touch, to augment my program in multiple ways. We always start the day by reading the day’s Daily Reflection and first one online shares with the other, indicating a good nights’ rest clean and sober. Happy travels on that road to serenity and joy that is our birthright. I for one believe that HP IS here for us. Today.
I am a member of Al-Anon for the last 35 years. I have been going to a lot of open AA meetings almost daily from last November to now -April 16, 2023, while on vacation. I’m so grateful for AA and Al-Anon. We will be married 54 years coming up on April 26. I have learned a lot from these AA meetings- such as the closeness and loving support shown to each other; the desire to see each member grow and become all that they are meant to be. The stark honesty in sharing; the laughter that reduces the heavy weight- bearing of shame and guilt; the humility that comes from surrendering self from “not my will but Thy will”. It truly is a spiritual program where God (H. P.) is honored and man is right-positioned and enabled to be of help and service to God and to his fellow man. I’m so proud and happy to be a part of this great fellowship -AA and Al-Anon, for truly Alcoholism is a family disease and I feel my God has provided a redeemed and happy way to live and be in this world and in the world to come. What else could we ask for? Sincerely, Judyj
Having 14,000 some days of sobriety within AA, I love the physical books. What a surprise it came for me to be able to use this app and pause in the middle of the day in the middle of nowhere and read the literature. To see my days of sobriety as a masthead on the app to add warmth and personalizing it to make me keen to dig in! It’s those small touches that draw me closer to AA such as when people said, Hi Diane! after I identified myself as an alcoholic. Before I got this app in February 2022, I never knew how many days I had. And as I have said, that information is emblazoned as on writing paper on the tippy top. As though the literature were written explicitly for me. As the Beatles once said to encourage each other in their early days, “Let’s go to the toppermost of the poppermost.” The beautiful design of this app is Good Orderly Direction indeed. It’s a humble app and a refuge in time of need to encourage us to humbly go to the toppermost of the poppermost one day of sobriety at a time. Diane K. Baltimore AA Feb. 27, 2022
Knowing and making the decision to quit drinking was a hard realization. Because of all the excuses or stories I would tell myself. The bottom line is I am not who I want to be when I drink and if it means sacrificing a family or friends, then it becomes a easy no thank you for me. Thank you for the program and this amazing app that has acted as a support in my self-discipline and no longer allow the craving to take control. I still get the craving and because this app is on my Home Screen it reminds me how many others are standing strong because they are aware that alcohol has a power over them and me also. Everything about the app from usability and information is easy to use and allows for connection where ever you are at in your journey. Thank you and God bless!
I appreciate this app so much. Im older, my eyes are worse, im hyperactive or hypoactive both. This app comes out all day. I dont even have games on my phone or laptop anymore. I just sit quietly and read or close my eyes and listen, or listen while i'm busy-body at home or at work, or even in the car. Trying to tell everyone i know about your app! Oh and i also have no money at the moment lol. Thank you for offering it free for those in need. I cant thank you enough. Feeling cute, idk, might donate some money to your cause after the house sells. All that being said... the Doctor's opinion isnt working in the app audio version. Funny bc i asked my sponsee to read it and we were going to go over it today. Im glad for the opportunity to let you know abt the Dr Opinion and to give you a great review!
AA, says you can’t do it alone and it’s true. We need all the help we can get even if it’s listening to the big book read in the big book going to meetings and this app has help me a lot. Thank you for creating this app making it ad free and also totally free unless you want to help contribute. all I can say is if you’re struggling out there, ask for help whether it be a higher power, which I called God or another alcoholic for me, asking for help through my higher power every morning reading the reflections, and other 24 hour books helps me. Have a good day, and God bless, and I wish everybody out there. They’re struggling the best we do recover we will recover as long as you do with a suggestion say number one asked for help. I love all you guys out there.
Everything AA is my go to, along with most of my network and home group. Having a Big Book in your phone (pocket or purse) is invaluable. I use this app almost everyday. The daily reading is part of my morning meditation. When I find myself thinking or behaving in a way that does not align with my recovery, I pull this up and am able to redirect my thinking almost immediately. I cannot stress enough, how highly I recommend this app. Newcomers and Old Timers alike this app is highly useful and truly a tool of my recovery. My sponsor who is coming up on 20 yrs uses the app as much as I do after celebrating just 2 yrs. The zoom meetings are top notch! I have met people from all over the world with this app, who are actual friends that I keep up with today. There is great recovery to be found in the meetings, they have impressed me so much. Also, the Joe and Charlie recordings are a huge BONUS. My first sponsor introduced me to their stuff in the first months of my sobriety and I’m still listening regularly. I realize how enthusiastic I am being about this app. This is the only app review I’ve ever written, I just really love and use this app all the time. 10/10 Would recommend!
Thank you SO much for gathering our literature and organizing it so one May access it easily as we develop a New way of Thinking. The Steps give us the tools to see our part in our relationships. When I arrived in AA I was full of self pity and I was such a victim! A kind gentleman was kind enough to share these words “Get off the Cross we need the wood’ Those words have helped me see and understand what I could not see before Recovery! On December 27th I will have this new way of thinking and life without a drink since 2004. Thank you AA….to all the old timers who stuck and stayed and the new person in pain who can’t see how their using is stealing their joy, freedom and happiness. AA is a way of life…..on your journey may you find the hope, joy and serenity.
As an alcoholic, I must have an awareness of my condition every day. In early sobriety I was in great fear of this fact…I worked the suggested program of recovery terrified I’d go back to the bad old days. Over the years, I’ve now come to perceive my daily awareness of my disease as an intricate part of my true self, and the motivator for a life of emotional sobriety as well as physical sobriety. This app…of AA approved material, has immensely expanded my daily program. I find so much I’ve never read before! I love the audio options! Lately, I read the “Just For Today” pamphlet in the “literature” section. It has pulled me through rough time. One day at a time holds potential for a beautiful sober life. I find this app, a 12-step project by an AA member, to be a spiritual gateway. Kris K.
This is a powerful app. There are certain resources that are accepted as dogma (so to speak) in the AA community. This app includes those all. I.e. The BB, 12step and 12traditions, daily meditations… I guess the only recommendation I may have would be to include the “Little Red Book”, but I was able to get that on kindle for $0.99. In a perfect world, it would be nice to be able to read the attached publications (BB, 12Steps, etc) with the ability to highlight an bookmarks sections similar to the kindle app. However, this is a great app. Thank you for putting it out there. The author has done the community a real service and I will reimburse him.
I now recommend this app as the first thing newcomers should pick up when new to the program, and love showing it to folks who have been in the program for years that didn’t know about it either. Super simple, no ads, no thing but the great 3 basic books in written and audio form, daily reflections, and even the Joe and Charlie Big Book study “tapes” in virtual format. Great place to have the core of the program, and easiest way to reference stuff when you don’t have it around. Thanks to the developers and publishers of the app!
Throughout the years when I have used other AA apps they eventually became obsolete. So when I found this one I was very excited. It has everything I need at my fingertips. I especially enjoy the audio recordings. Listening to Joe and Charlie is one of my favorites. I can only imagine how much time and energy it takes to put together and manage this app. I download the app about a month ago and I make a point to share it with anyone who is interested. Especially the newcomers. It’s a great way to stay connected and rual town Montana. Thank you for paying it forward, DANICE.
Like other reviewers, I’ve spent most of the past 33 years leafing through my paper copies of the Big Book and the 12 x 12. But with the addition of a new sponsee who is totally digital, I found this app as a “bridge between.” I love having my “books” with me wherever I go, as well as the Daily Reflection (which often provides a topic to discuss with my sponsees). While I appreciate there are even more features, the ones I’ve mentioned make this app invaluable to me. Thank you to those that created and so diligently maintain this app. You and your work are greatly appreciated.
This app has absolutely saved my sobriety and has been transformative for my life. I still listen to the Joe & Charlie tapes and 12&12 over night. I really depended on them in the first week of my sobriety because it was all that was keeping me sober. Without it I would wake and go find something to drink or take. Your 12th step has deeply blessed me. Thank you eternally. I’m supporting the app because I believe in it and I tell all my fellow sober brothers and sisters about it every chance I get. Now gratitude list and 10th step? It is absolutely perfect!
I like physical books, but there is no substitute for the utility and convenience of this app on the go. You have all the AA essential literature at your fingertips and in your pocket. That really helps to take a minute or two on the subway, in the car, or with a cup of coffee to read or listen to a chapter or a daily reflection without any hassle. The day counter is helpful and encouraging. This also includes the most recent edition of the Big Book that other popular AA apps don’t always have. This is a tremendous act of service. Thank you to the developers! - Michael H.
This app is such a beautiful gift. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I am a Psych NP and have been a grateful member of AA for over 35 years now and am so excited to share this app with every new patient who could benefit from it. Many, if not most patients I see could use AA, but are not ready to go for various reasons. This app is a lifesaving bridge to so many. In addition it is a life improving app for so many already sober who benefit from more regular contact with these writings and talks. Just incredible. The app is simple and works flawlessly. THANK YOU!
I really enjoy the ease of use the app has. It’s a useful tool to add to my toolbox for sure. I love the daily reflection every day and spend my first moments awake in the am reading the big book in app on awakening. I’m also pumped about the sobriety time counter, very inspiring to see every day and makes me want to keep it simple by just taking it day by day, one day at a time. Thanks for this app and the updates and bug fixes all the time. It’s working very well and I have no problems with using the app multiple times a day. Keep awesome!
Having found myself in treatment for alcohol, I was strongly encouraged to find help/support/connection through AA. I found this app, and through it began my journey into the program. This app is perfect, and contains all of the help and tools I needed to get started. Almost 6 months sober, I attend in person meetings almost every day, but I still open the app every day too; whether it’s to read or jump on a Zoom meeting when I need one, it’s always there. I cherish this app and am so very grateful for it. One day at a time.
I refer to this app every morning for the daily reflection. I also am able to reference it during meetings when the topic reader shares the daily topic. It’s much easier to use and find passages on the spot than pulling out the big book. All you need to add is a timer for use during meetings (a timer will different, more calming bells and noises than what the phone provides) and this app has everything needed for meetings. Also love having all the resources (Big Book, 12 & 12, etc) all in one place. Thank you!
The developer of this app has created a space for everything any AA needs all in one place. It makes it so easy to engage with the program. You can even pair it with shortcuts to automate things like having it open when you wake up for morning meditation and evening 10th step work. As a visually impaired member, it is especially helpful for me to be able to use these features on my iPhone and to use the audiobook and speaker tape features. Thank you for your service!
If you are an AA member, you’ll love this app! It combines so many of our resources in one, convenient to use place. You can READ the Big Book, 12 and 12, Sober Today and Daily Reflection. You can LISTEN to the Big Book, 12 and 12 or Joe and Charlie. The online meeting finder links to the intergroup site and makes it so easy to find and get into a meeting 24/7. You can also track your sobriety time. So many of my AA friends are using this app daily. Do yourself a favor, check it out! #onedayatatime
I really appreciate that this app has so much to read and listen to without requiring payment for any of it. I know someone somewhere has paid for this content to be made available and for the streaming of all the audio. Thank you so much to tho who have contributed to this great app. I have especially been getting a lot out of the Joe and Charlie Big Book study. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me learn how to get and stay sober!
This app is just that! This app paired with The Meeting app and I can stay plugged in anytime and anywhere. I love listening to Joe and Charlie and the thing I like most about the audio portion is that every section has a different reader. It feels easier to stay intrigued because there are times where I will quit listening to a book because the voice I’m hearing sounds monotoned. I’m an alcoholic with ADHD so it’s really easy for my attention to stray. Highly recommended this “tool”
I was sober for 4 1/2 years and went back to the poor choices of an old way of thinking, which lead me back to drinking. After 3 years of being my own Higher Power, I finally surrendered to the fact that my way was killing me mentally and spiritually. Been back 83 days, and am grateful for my sobriety, but also the fact I have everything here in my phone!!! Going to keep coming back and stay, but by the Grace!!
I have seen lesser apps out there that do not stick to tradition 5 and the singleness of purpose. This app does exactly that without the subscription fees of the others who are just trying to capitalize on the suffering of others. This is truly an obvious effort of service work. With that being said, it is a great app. A lot of tools to use. Access to everything that is legally possible. It is well thought out and well executed. Keep up the good work.
This app has helped me read the daily reflections and track my days sober. I can read the big book, 12 and 12 and even have it read to me if needed. I spend a lot of time on my phone since being sober - and now I find a lot of my time is spent on this app. What a great thing! The God of MY understanding is here as well. And I am grateful that the developer put this app together. Share with your AA FRIENDS. this app is a must. Thank you J.
At only six months I find this site very valuable to me on a daily basis. Way beyond tracking my days sober, it provides everything I need all on one page. I read the Daily Reflection every morning before my first zoom meeting at 7. I then randomly pick things to read and always get something read every day. Thanks so very much for putting this together and being of such service.
Grateful for this App and the ease of use. When I have time in between meetings when it seems like I’m being swallowed up be life I have opened up Everything AA and read some inspiration. It’s accessible and ready for me on the subway, airport or when it seems like I’m hiding out in the bathroom. Having a hard copy of the book is the best but sometimes that’s not always possible. When it’s hard to sleep- the audio prion is there for me too. The developers just updated something and seems to constantly be trying to fix it up for ease of use. They communicate often and kindly, plus he’s one of us so he gets us. The app feels as if it was created with love and I appreciate the service. Thank you! Patrixia A, NYC
When I got the app it was passed on to me from a friend. It gives you so many ways to study by reading of the Big Book or by listening by headphones that lets you concentrate on the topics your studying also allows you to seek out help within your area and can help with a meeting search. Well thought out for those who suffer from or do not understand alcoholism highly recommended.
Hello Ben, I wanted to reach out to thank you for your service, many of my friends in the room and I use this app to connect with literature and to support newcomers. It’s very helpful to my recovery and surely countless others. I’m very grateful that you are using your talents in service to the program and other other alcoholics, and I hope you feel our love through the screen 🥰
This app is amazing for new comers or just people who have a hard time finding a spot to read. This app allows you to take your recovery everywhere. I would love to be able to hear more books. But that’s the alcoholic in me there’s never enough. Lol. I thank you for this app it is a big part of my recovery journey. Your friend, Michael L.
This app essentially aggregates all the major AA literature (and other items) into a single resource. I’ve found this to be extremely convenient; like any good alcoholic I am essentially a very lazy person who loves to make excuses, and now I can’t justify not getting through all of my morning readings because I don’t feel like pulling 4 different books off the shelf. Many thanks to the developer for carrying the message!
I tell everyone I meet about this app. It has been so helpful to me with doing my step-work and I love being able to conveniently find online meetings as well as listen to Joe and Charlie. The audio versions of the literature makes it easy to maintain peace of mind while going about my day when I don’t have time to stop and read. Thank you for all you’re doing Ben S. #carrythatmessage!
Thanks to everyone who created this app. It is convenient and I am more likely to read from it in the morning, waiting at an appointment or using it as a reference. One feature I would like is to stay at the spot I stopped reading at in the Big Book. When I close it, I loose my place. Thanks for all you do to keep the program vibrant. -jane May 27, 1983
It really does have everything you need to support your recovery program. All of the available literature is right at your finger tips. My favorite tool is the prayer list. I also use this to access the daily reflections. You can’t go wrong supporting this app. He makes it available for free but you should definitely support him for the $1.99 a month.
I am not a reader. There is know way I would have made it through the AA book. This app helped me with that by being able to listen to the information and other informative books. If I had known about this app the last time I went to AA I think I would have worked the first time. Thank you you have played a big part in my recovery, I am very grateful.
Great app, I’m able to get right to “on awakening” every morning very easily and was able to delete the app I had downloaded specifically for the “daily reflection” because that’s also here. Need a meeting and can’t get to one? No worries! There’s a direct link to the online directory (so now I can get rid of that bookmark on my Mac). Glad I found this! And it’s free ?!?! Nice job 👊🏻
This app was shared with me and I have been sharing it with others. I love this app! All the information I need for my recovery is right there. I truly appreciate the links to Zoom meetings around the world. What a blessing to have the opportunity to share with people in different states and countries. We all have the same goal. The references in this app are invaluable. Thank you so much Ben!
Thank you for your beautiful work on this app! I've had it for a little while and for some reason the other day I picked it up and discovered the Joe and Charlie recordings. what a gift you're giving!! At 35 years, I needed to hear their message in a big way. Thank you for this! Thank you for your sobriety. thank you for your service
I am enjoying this app very much. The simplicity of it makes it so easy for me to find and read our literature. I have been able to read the daily reflection every day even if I miss reading it out of my paperback first thing in the morning. All I have to do is open the app and there it is! Thank you for creating this for us all 👍🙏
Since getting sober 3 years ago, I’ve used a LOT of apps. This one, by far, is the best one yet. I love the literature section that has all of the step prayers and the “Just for today” which are sometimes tedious to find. Also, I drive around a lot with work and this audio feature is golden!!! Thanks, Ben, for giving me a platform to use- one day at a time!
For someone struggling with alcoholism, this free app is a God send. I’m coming back to the rooms after being sober for 7 years and slipping. This is my second chance and I won’t mess this up. It has all the literature and even audio to listen while you go about your day. For those of you still hurting, download this and digest as much as you can. It’s a life saver!!
It’s helping me recover from all the demons in my life and I love it. I go on this everyday now instead of facebook or Instagram. I am once again closer to my Lord then I have been since a little girl and before losing my Mom. This app has everything for free and I am so grateful not to have to pay another huge fee for an app that keeps charging for every little thing.
Like any good alcoholic I tend to isolate. This app has helped me through some dark moments and the Joe & Charlie big book study audio helped me get through step 4 and get a whole new perspective and see new light on my inventory. Love the gratitude and daily review addition too. What an awesome tool this app is turning out to be in my recovery - the more helpful tools the better. -LD
Seven months for me today. This App is how I start everyday. I can easily access the daily reflection as part of my morning routine. I love the audio option for when I’m driving. I’ve been studying the big book with a sponsor, it’s wonderful to be able to access the books anytime. This App is very complete and I am super grateful it is available for me anytime of any day. Thank-You. Kevin F
I’m new to AA and use this app every day. It counts my days of sobriety, has a Daily Reflection to read, gives me access to the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions and lots of brochures to explore. I really like being able to listen to The Big Book. The app is very user friendly and a tremendous resource. It’s free and does not have in App purchases. Thank you App Man for making such an incredible resource!!
I use this app several times a day, everyday. As a person with limited mobility, it is difficult for me to carry books and enter buildings. With this app I always have all AA books and literature with me, in my pocket. Now, with the addition of the ability to highlight and make notations in the big book it is even more useful!
There are plenty of features that could be added to improve this app (would be nice to pause the Joe and Charlie tapes and have it save your spot, or include a link to search in person meetings as well as online meetings) but with everything it DOES have, this is a 5 star app that helps me work the program EVERY day. That means it helps save my life EVERY DAY. Thank you.
Fantastic, up to date, on the go app for the AA literature that is read at meetings! I was able to participate better at a meeting when I downloaded the app and had the 12 and 12 at my fingertips. I was able to concentrate and even read to the group. Ben wrote back to me within 30 mins of my email, thanking me and grated to be of service. Highly recommended!!
I have all that I have because of sobriety and the rooms of A A I’m free from the bondage of my demons but I can never forget that they are always lying in wait to try and find away to get me out of my element and take me back out but my higher power always keeps me in check and it’s his way that I try to live one day at a time praise Jesus Christ amen
