Works well, but not great
It does create 320kb MP3s, but you have to change the setting to 320 AFTER you select the file(s) to convert. I set it at 320, then selected the file and converted, and it reverted back to 192. But I went back in and selected the file first and then changed the setting, then converted, and it worked fine. A 50MB flac file took about 12 seconds to convert on my 2012 Mac Pro. It only used on of my 12 cores as far as I could tell. Haven’t tried batch converting, but others have said it works with no problem and I have no reason to doubt that. I really like the “free” part! It did have ads, but they’re easy enough to ignore.

Works Well transfer ID3 tags
I ran a batch process of a 6-track album and it completed in a matter of seconds on a mid 2012 macbook pro. As another user mentioned, the ID3 tags transferred to the MP3 files minus the album artwork….so close! Nearly gets a perfect score for this one missing feature. Also as another user mentioned, you must set the bitrate of the resulting MP3 after you’ve added the files.

Works great
I spent 20 minutes pointlessly searching the web for a free FLAC converter from a reputable site, then thought “Why don’t I check the App Store”. As the above user says, the UI is terrible, obviously thrown together from previous components - it even says “Add Video” where it should say “Add Audio” or “Add Files”. That said, I didn’t count how many cores it used, but it converted one 50 minute album in 1 minute 20 seconds on my 2013 Macbook Pro. Hardly the lagging performance I had been anticipating from the previous review. It also preserves the tags from the FLAC file - I expected I’d have to re-key that information, so that was a nice surprise. Solid 4 stars for functionality, losing the last star due to the horrible UI. IT’s livable, but not ideal.

Simple, easy to use interface. As mentioned below, the default output is 192, but changing to 320 is a single click. My only “beef” is output file names. “Born to Run” becomes “Born to Run;Born to Run” I was unable to find anywhere in the interface or Help to fix this. Tedious to fix, but what do you want for free?

Bitrate problem
Notwithstanding a previous review, this program doesn't seem able to create MP3s of higher bitrate than 192. Not only does the selected output bitrate revert to that whenever the program is reopened, but changing it in the settings has no effect. Whether I switch the output to 320 before or after adding the files, the actual results are always 192 kbps. This is a serious problem.

Thanks! Worked fast, exactly what I needed!
Well this worked perfectly. That’s it, just a free tool that does exactly what you need it to do, conver files en masse

Settings Don't Work
MP3 Encoding settings don't work... it always reverts back to 192. Even if you set them and immediately hit Go. Everything is always 192

Doesn't convert metadata to AIFF
Seems to work well but when converting flac -> AIFF it doesn't bring metadata over. It does this fine when converting to mp3s, though.

Free and it works! Convert FLAC to MP3 and let iTunes Match upgrade your files
Downloaded some FLAC audio files and while I love VOX as an audio player I wanted to add the music to my iTunes music collection. Apple hasn’t caught on to FLAC as a great open platform audio format, but this free FLAC to MP3 converter will downsample your music so you can drag/drop it into iTunes. iTunes will add the MP3 files and you are good to go. If you use iTunes Match ($25 a year from Apple) they’ll go ahead and convert your MP3 files to Apple’s higher quality .M4a files. Great little free app that solved my provblem. Thanks!

Nice and easy
Easy to use, plenty of options if you want to go digging and good format support. Converts meta data as well. A few ads but can’t complain for free and simple. Would love to see some multi-threading to convert faster, or multiple files at a time, etc. but again, can’t complain for free. Throw a folder of flac at it, hit convert, choose an output folder, done.

Better than expected
Got some .flac files from a friend. Couldn’t import them to itunes, and found this application. Surprisingly it supports conversion to AAC and even offers bitrate selection too, you just have to look for it. Literally just opened a folder, set my configs, applied to all and done. Worked like a charm!

Just what I needed
A simple, intuitive program. And it looks like they listen to user feedback: there was a whole range of bitrate options.

works well… but the interface is terrible.
This was obviously taken from a video converting application, and made into a flac converting application. It has a video preview window. It is on the right from the moment you open it, and in the options it has a whole section on videos. What the heck!?!?? I was about to just delete it… but I thought, eh, at least see if it does what it says. Folks, it does, and does it very very well!! It did a 80 minute album into MP3 320Kb in under two minutes on my old duel core. It FLEW! I am keeping it despite the horrible interface because it is blazingly fast.

Fast for me
Worked great on my Mac Mini. No speed issues. No ads or other pay to play junk. Seems like a great free app to me. I’ve done two albums so far. Thank you!!

This app works as advertised.
I loaded the app, added the folder containing 18 FLAC audio files, changed the bitrate to 256, set the output folder and clicked CONVERT. A few minutes later I had 18 MP3 files at 256 bitrate. Thanks for the free app.

Good app but NEEDS BATCH SETTINGS option
Great app…converts quickly, but having to manually change each and every MP3 to 320kbps is brutal. Please add feature to select mutiple files and change their destination format at the same time for 5 star review…thank you.

Needs Bit rate options
Tried converting an FLAC to mp3 and they came out at 192 kbps. Would be better if had options for 256 and 320 kbps. Especially for DJing, 320 kbps is the standard.

AAC and M4A profiles use VBR that averages to only 151 kbps
Ok, so the free version won’t convert to anything higher than 192 kbps. That’s fine, but while the built-in AAC and M4A profiles are set to “192", in reality they have a variable bitrate that hovers around 151. Yuck! I only use this application to just batch convert FLAC to WAV, and then I use iTunes to batch convert the WAVs to something else

It works, but that’s about it
It does actually convert files, so that’s something. But the UI is terrible, it’s clearly a port from some other platform, and it’s dog slow — on my 8-core MacBook Pro it’s only using one core even as it converts 20 files, so it’s taking 8x as long as it really ought to. When it comes down to it, converting is really just a matter of taking an open-source FLAC decoder and the LAME library (for MP3 encoding) or AVFoundation (other formats), and writing a bit of glue code to feed the output of one into the other. Add a bit of UI to let the user select files, and that’s it. This app managed to do the simple core part, but the UI is really lame [sic].

Doesn't do simplest MP3 conversion
I need MP3 files with specific bitrates like 128 or 160kbps. Plus I need sample rates below 44.1kHz. Unfortunately app only produces 192kbps/44.1kHz ignoring my settings altogether.
