Maybe I’m being kind by thinking it’s an iOS incompatibility issue. But after a lot of frustration, this app does not work if you are trying to use an X2T transmitter on an iPhone 14 Pro. I can get the flash to trigger. But no matter what I do, I get the error “The current system does not support Bluetooth synchronization” every time I start the app.
The physical flash interface is hard to use (confusing menus and buttons), so I appreciate having the Bluetooth connection and app to use instead. It’s much more intuitive. I’d just love to see a more polished UI design for the app — it feels a bit unfinished.
You have an app since apple 14 Now we at Apple 15 And still can’t get the sync to work in combination Why even advertised that you can use a iPhone to trigger in camera mode when this is false. Your developers could had fix this issues or simply say not compatible with iPhone.. it’s disingenuous that you even have it on the Apple Store.. Functionally wise I can just use my remote to get to the point instead of adding another device to the mix.. Make it make sense..
This app currently does not work on iOS 16 iPhone 12 mini. I just got the NEW xPROii trigger from Godox but the Bluetooth function doesn’t sync with the iPhone on this app. **Please fix!!** thnx
The connection is ok, strong… but doesn’t work how it’s supposed to be. Channel ok, group ok… it shows 1% ar UL150 and 49% on the phone… Why it happens???
Neat to be able to control setting from phone, but the controls are much faster just using the X2T. As far as the camera app to use flashes with your phone, garbage. No real sync with the camera shutter. Tried multiple settings, delays, etc. I have a lot of Godox equipment and have been happy until now. Going forward, I’m going to reconsider them because this app and the X2T are garbage compared to the X Pro I use. Adding Bluetooth is worthless if it doesn’t sync correctly and the only positive is the passthru hotshoe, which I don’t need since I have studio lights and multiple speed lights that have wireless triggers built in.
Just got this flash. Doesn’t work with the iPhone XS Max. I got it to work with the demo model in store I bought it from. It had outdated firmware on the demo. It worked for a few shots but I figured it was user error. I Updated the firmware when I got home on mine and not the demo model, and the flash goes off, but isn’t timed with the photo being taken. Flash syncing never works and I’ve tried everything. Even restored it. Waste of money. Can only use it as a continuous light and can’t experiment with different shutter speeds Edit: I just downloaded the app from the play store on my Galaxy S9 Plus. It works completely fine on that phone. It also has a higher sync speed. It is completely useless for flash synching on the IPhone XS Max and probably doesn’t work on the XS either since they have the same camera. Summary: Only works with Samsung S9 plus and not the XS Max.
I have tried every number printed on the X2T transmitter and none of them work for the required password to connect bluer to the app. There are absolutely no instructions in the app or in the XT2 manual to explain how to connect other than how to turn on Bluetooth. The wireless control of lights is the main reason I bought the X2T... this app is worthless in its current state. Developers... Make it clear how to connect and where to find the password!
Although GodoxPhoto app works on iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 14) with Godox X2T-N, the app camera triggers a flash, but apparently out of sync. So the app is useless for photos with this iPhone. Of course, what many of us really want is for the GodoxPhoto app to just trigger the X2T with ANY app camera (Apple’s or any of the other fine camera apps for iPhone). So close, yet so far.
Love the app and the features it has. But a much faster shutter speed than 1/35 would be amazing! Especially something close to the normal sync speed of a dslr. If you could make it go into hss mode and get super fast shutters would be phenomenal!!!
The app got great features. I wish the UI develops overtime and so foes the camera app. It would be even great if godox comes up with a way to fire godox flashes using phones native camera app. I am using a X2T and AD600 to take pictures with the godox app’s camera but the quality is not as good as that of the iPhones camera app.
I bought the A1 since I'm a big fan of off camera flash and thought it would be fun to add some to my iPhone. I own a bunch of Godox products (two speedlights, AD200, Pro 600, X R2) and am really happy with the brand. Since I've owned my iPhone 11 Pro, the A1 flash misses the shutter sync every time. Making it useless as an off camera flash for my iPhone. Which was the reason I purchased in the first place.
This app gave me the mistaken impression that it would fire my cameras shutter from my phone. Not that I particularly care, but it doesn’t do that. You can however, after working through the manual, figure out how to test fire your flash set up. It’s not an easy app, but it does what I think it intends to. So ... from the perspective of a working app, it does work. However, from the perspective of a camera trigger, it fails completely if it was even meant to do that.
Godox loses credibility by abandoning these flashes
As mentioned, the A1 and M1 Mini flashes no longer sync as of iOS 13. Godox made a decision to not update the apps or firmware, perhaps thinking they could walk away from this relatively small user group. Wrong. I will no longer trust Godox/Flashpoint to provide ongoing support for ANY of their products. I was considering a multi-unit purchase of their larger pro moonlights, that is no off the table.
I use the app to control my UL150, it seems to work to change the brightness. However for some reason it won’t change temperature. I have tried connecting the antennas and also turning it on and off.
I love the A1 flash and the ability to sync with other Godox flashes, but the app that is required is very weak and a poor camera app. Very little control over exposure and not. Ring able to use the portrait lens on my iPhone X makes this app nearly worthless.
This thing became a paper weight after updating phone to iOS13 on iPhone . Worked great before that. Now tried everything, firmware up to date, it fires the flash but it won’t save it (time off-sync?). Don’t know, GARBAGE, don’t waste your money. I’ll update this review if they fix this issue. Until then....
Good app. Has worked well for me on older models but unfortunately the app isn’t updated enough. Flash won’t sync properly when shooting on iPhone 12 mini.
There are some issues syncing the brightness values from the app with the hardware, noticeable when I manually change the brightness on the light it does’t reflect on the app.
Hey Godox, This app has so much potential to be a game changer for cell photographers, instead, the app is useless. The lights do not sync to my iPhone 11 Pro Max. As far as adjusting my flashes on an easy app, it’s fine, but it’s way too much work. I’ll just adjust from my trigger directly rather than Bluetooth from my iPhone. The whole point of this app and using the Godox X2T is to connect Bluetooth and my iPhone camera - it doesn’t work - the app is garbage! FIX IT!!!!!
Does not have any reliability at all. Shutter speed more than 1/10 wont sync with transmitter. App itself doesn't support shutter speed more than 1/50. It is total waste of time and energy.
As other reviewers have noted, it simply doesn’t work. Sometimes the flash goes but not the shutter and vice versa. The front camera crashes the app. The non functional app makes the A1 hardware worthless too. Version 1.9 fixed nothing on the iPhone S Max.
Please add support for telephone lens and higher shutter speeds
Right now the app doesn’t seem to support the dual cameras in the iPhone 7/8plus. Also please add higher flash sync shutter speeds. Would be great to sync at 1/250.
Doesn’t sync flash with picture, and obviously no support since it’s been over a month since someone complained. Seems like they don’t care about updating this product.
Very disappointed I can’t use this with the new telephoto lens on the 11 Pro. Still works with older phones, but come on. A true waste of a product. Thanks Godox.
Not functional whatsoever for VL series light. Will be returning and buying an aputure. Unacceptable to market app controllability, when the app hasn’t been updated in over a year!
