When I got my first Genesis as a kid, it came with a 6 Pack Game cartridge. The only games that mattered to me were Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, and Golden Axe. The game on the cartridge was GA2 and I fell in love immediately. I can’t remember how many times I beat this game!! Fast forward about 20 years or so later - still love this game!! I was stoked to find it on here! Please Sega, just fix the controls for all of the Sega classics. The button boxes are too small and the D-Pad is as well. It was great to see that all of the attacks and movements are identical, they just feel impossible sometimes. This is the only reason I cannot give 5. With practice, you can eventually get use to the controls, but it’s a little difficult. Stick through it - the Sega Classics are some of the best games ever made - modern gamers will never fully appreciate the 3 Lives only rules, but I think they’ll still find enjoyment out of it. Who doesn’t want to ride a dragon or play as a hardcore dwarf with a devastating horned-headbutt!?
For a free game, I'm pretty happy to play it and glad it was ported! However, just because there's a higher audience in mobile games doesn't make it a good game for mobile. The only complaint I have are with the controls. But it's not the game's fault. It's a mobile port and these controls take a lot of getting used to. I'm used to using a controller and not having to look down constantly to make sure I'm touching the pad where as the controller I can feel the buttons and I know the direction I am moving the character. Instead of using an arrow pad, just let me move the character myself by moving my finger in any direction on the screen. It's been ages and I can't remember for the life of me how to activate anything beyond a level 1 spell. There's nothing in the guide in the game or details within the app. Holding A does nothing but cast the spell. I tried pushing a combo of other buttons or using the arrow keys and I got nothing. It would be pretty awesome if we can get a full remake of this game series. Not on mobile though. The controls would make me crazy.
Sega should make some thing that has all of their classic games in one
Honestly I’m only nine years old was I still have played some really old games like donkey Kong contra and Pac-Man I also have played Kirby superstar but when I first downloaded this I did not know diss was three games in one if Sega had all of their classic games in one app and I mean like all of their games from everything from sonic the hedgehog to Super monkey ball I think that be awesome I have also seen some 90 shows these golden axe classics are a hit but there should be more than one Like golden axe beast Rider and others like one of them that it doesn’t include golden axe the duel
I loved this game and grew up playing it on the ps2 which came with a bunch of sega collection. This game seems to be running smooth but the controls are not good Negative The controls are not that good in this port. There is this one move where you push the attack button and jump button at the same time to do a certain move but this port its hard to that move. Your previouse version of Golden Axe 3 on mobile had 100% excellent controls and had no problem with those. Please fix the controls!
First off, this is a GOOD port, it runs super smooth, has a nice menu interface, but the game music sounds a little bit “grainy/scratchy”. I previously purchased the older Golden Axe 1, 2, and 3 games on iOS and I was able to "restore purchase" to premium for Golden Axe 1, but was not able to restore purchase to “premium” for Golden Axe 2 & 3. Hopefully this issue will get corrected? Overall, fantastic job with the port, just fix the music and the restore purchase issues and it will be top-notch! Now, How about releasing Sword of Vermillion & Light Crusader for iOS? 😊
As always, SEGA cares little for the actual player support of their games but that doesn’t make the games not classic. The controls are about as good as you can get for a mobile game but the credit system is truly abysmal. We’re not in an 80s arcade. We paid to play the complete games. We should be able to have a limitless credit system to actually complete the games. Beating these games is not easy with how awful touch screen controls generally are but like I said earlier, SEGA won’t fix it. They never fix any bugs or issues in any of their games and this is coming from a lifelong fan.
I love this game and love that you get all three in one but would love to have a widescreen version like the sonic “Cristian Whitehead” versions. The fact you can’t change the bezels and 4:3 is only aspect ratio is a little frustrating. But it is a free game and three in this case. But would just make it that extra bit special to have a widescreen version.
I’ve known about these mobile ports for awhile, but they’ve been little more than a novelty for me because I can’t stand touch controls. Well, it turns out they’re fully compatible with my 8BitDo SN30 Pro and it’s a real game changer. Buttons are appropriately mapped and the controls are enjoyable and responsive. Would definitely recommend for playing these great games on the go.
I can't explain how happy I felt playing this game, I played this game so much as a kid it made no sense. Thanks again for adding these classic's. I was wondering if you all were thinking or are going to add streets of rage 2, toejam & Earl and maybe eternal champions. I think your team can do it and if you add these in particular I can't even explain how many people would smash that download button even if it is just to say they have it on mobile
Works perfectly. Great throwback game. Shouldn't be rated poorly because of the controls. There is no problem with the controls. Some people just don't know how to play with their screens and prefer buttons. Flawless game, I just hate ads even though the ads doesn't hinder your game. It only appears at the start of the game and that's it ... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I bought this on iPhone 4s and get ads now! It does not remove and it does not respond to me pressing to remove.I already remove the ads when you updated your software!! But now it does not respond on my 7+ when I press the bottoms or on the swag controller. I bought the right to use this software in full!! Same problem with Atari game apps. But no one cares they just want your money!! Apple keeps a record that I have purchased this, fix your software!!!!!!!! Stop doing this!!!
I keep getting an error telling me I can’t sign in when I try saving, even though a little tab pops up at the top saying I was signed in. The game is great, nice throw back and the controls aren’t too horrible for a phone game.
I spent hours as a kid playing this game, specifically, while I was waiting for the bus to take me home (there was an arcade across the street from my school). This game took me back in time. Controls are great, graphics are just as you remember them. Fantastic. Just fantastic. Please, pay the devs $1 to eliminate ads. They deserve that (and more). Thank you, Sega!

Like many on here I played a lot of this game back in the day. So I was excited to see it come back. They did a great job with layout, porting, menus and graphics. I mean c'mon there is no way to make a 25yr old game look good but they did an admirable job bringing it to the iPhone. Where it falls apart is the controls - too slow and laggy, making it hard to kill enemies. They need to fix this and it will be worthy of playing again.
The music skips in and out and chops during battles. The controls are awful and buttons will pick and choose when they work. I find I have to stand perfectly still when attacking or my character will use their back attack over and over, opening me for hits from the guy I was hitting, and it occasionally happens even when I’m standing still! What’s the problem, SEGA? Churning them out so you can sell them? You can do better then this on your game ports!!!
Wow, what a classic. A masterpiece of its time. I fell in luv ❤️ with it when I saw it the first time ages ago. I remember I did almost whatever I could to get my hands on it. Sheesh... I miss the the controllers, say what you may but controllers, joypad and joysticks are still the best....these games aren't fun without'em.
Pretty pretty, pretty good. The jump button and the attack button need work because whenever the player intends to push the jump button it seems to attack and vice versa. From time to time that is.
Okay, I'm enjoying the resurrection of these classic titles, but Sega, seriously? You want to ad a game to the classics library that might rewrite history as we know it. Re-release Shining Force 1, 2, & 3. Yeah even bring 3 out fully in English on here. Then once the following has awoken & repopulated bring back CD part 1 & 2, followed by the rest of the epic ness eventually.
You should add many more classics like the old Mortal Kombat franchise and why not maybe add an entire emulator with all the classics such as Crack Down, Bonanza Bros, Chakan: The Forever Man, Comix Zone, Ristar, and all the other games just added into one app/game. That would be awesome! Thank you!
I adore the Golden Axe games so much! Very happy to get a mobile version, even if the controls are a bit difficult and I wish the combos were easier to hit. My main issue is that I can’t seem to use any continues. Please someone fix this!

I remember playing this back in the day, both arcade and console. One of my oldest friends had it on Genesis and we loved it. One major problem, even though controls are similar to Genesis. Being able to feed the buttons wasn't there and just ruined the experience.

I never thought I'd see the day where I come across this game on the App Store. I used to play this game when I was 8 years old! Mind you I'm 27 now. Anyways it's exactly like how I remember. Great game!
What more is there to say? I'm really liking these classic sega game ports. I really hope we eventually see my old favorite, Outlander, but it's not very well known, so I kinda doubt it.
I bought this years ago and recently downloaded it again, and there are ads now. And, the ads are some of the longest I’ve encountered on iOS. And the controls are horrendous now; it’s a shameful waste and I will delete it promptly.

This game is Free To Play on iOS. Younger me spent tons of quarters, and find it quite satisfying to enjoy now in higher resolution and anyway. Thank you developers 🥰
This is a good game don't get me wrong but to many ads and some times the music will lag but the game does not lag as much as the music my favorite game on iOS to date can't wait to see the next port they come out with
I used to play this game when I was little. This is fun, but it doesn’t let me play with my sister. We are connected to the same wifi and we even tried the same hotspot and it didn’t work. Sad!
Please include Saturn games! Virtua Fighter 2! Fighters Megamix! Nights: Into Dreams! Golden Axe: The Duel! Sonic: The Fighters! Daytona! Panzer Dragoon! Etc!!! Saturn for the genuine 32 bit retro fix! Good times! Hell, throw in some arcade ports! Wonder Boy in Monster Lair! Shinobi! Sera Rally! And all the like! I love this stuff!

The controls are so bad… the older version felt much more responsive. I can’t do special moves as B and C cannot be pressed at the same time with my thumb anymore.
Nostalgia points off the charts but frustrating controls
It looks and sounds exactly the same. A great old game. Unfortunately the actual game-play experience is not even close, mostly due to terrible choices for the controls.
Horrible controls - how many times did it cast a spell I did not want or not register a button press and caused me to get whacked. One time it made me walk off a cliff for reason. Two ads to start and it one time interrupted a battle to make me view an ad? Whoever approved this for release is a total con artist!
Complete trash won't save locks up on ad for Tik toc. Garbage will not play again and will warn everyone I know to stay away from this game. Garbage force me to pay $1.99 and save doesn't work? I don't think so avoid this trash garbage and a waste of time sega you failed on this one. Tik toc ad is screwing you.
Game is good but controls are bad, the characters don't have their attack+jump back attack moves like the axe guy rolls and both the barbarians back attack. Sometimes characters lag and run into cliff.
