I’ve downloaded other app just like this, but they don’t compare. Literally, instant delete. I like how clean it looks when your on it, filtering the catalog is easy, and you can pick where you want to bid without it being a hassle.
Hibid should be ashamed of itself. To start the website does whatever it wants. I was 500 items scrolling down and hibid decided to freak out and go back to the home page. And if you think you’re going to bid for some last minute pricing, guess again the page constantly refreshes and you can never get back to where you started in time to win your auction. You think maybe just put the whole bid you would like down first, but because they show that information to the auctioneer so they always stay a dollar underneath your bid. all the inconsistencies with auctioneers verbal abuse. It’s wild. Today was a first with HiBid, but not a surprise. I ordered a lot of costume jewelry and inside the box. They filled it with rocks. I’m guessing to make a little more on shipping. There’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. good luck getting a hold of anybody. The only time I see them trying to make right is in the comment section.
The live auction view was not up-to-date. It didn’t show all of the auction lots that were currently active, for example it might show items 10 and 11, and then show items 15 and 16. Too bad for you if you had wanted to bid on items 12 through 14. The live view also wasn’t refreshing, it might show you as winning an item when the auction was closing only to find out later (if you looked at the item through a different view, that you had been outbid (when it was too late to increase your bid). The auction also automatically charges sales tax. I’m an antiques dealer, and shouldn’t be charged sales tax on items intended for resale in my state. There is no way that I have found to opt out. This app was total garbage and I won’t ever use it again. I only wish that zero stars was an option for this review.
Don’t trust the countdown time or bid amount on watch list.
I was happy to see there was an app for Hibid. It was nice to not need to sign in all the time like I had to on the website but I do have to complain about countdown and bids that are showing on the watch page. The countdown clock can be off by 25 minutes or more as you switch back and forth from looking at an item to looking at your watch list. An item may have ended and it will still show a 25 minute countdown on your watch page. It would be nice to be able to see ended auctions like you can on the website.
I started using the Hibid website before I learned about this app. After i set up my account on my phone I was able to use it for a few days before it locked me out and wouldn’t recognize the password. I deleted the app and reinstalled my account. But a couple days later (today) it locked me out again. Again I deleted and reinstalled but it didn’t last a day before locking me out again. Very frustrating! I’m going to reinstall one more time. If it happens again I’m deleting the app for good. — With all the complaints I’ve been reading about, how on earth does this app have a 4.7 rating???
I love the app WHEN IT WORKS. You can only scroll a few pages and then crashes. Another thing is when you’re scrolling through your saved items you’ll only be able to see a few and it loops back to the first one again and eventually crashes. I spoke with someone there at HiBid about this and the response was it doesn’t work well with Apple devices and told me I should use their laptop version. When I save something to my favorites on the laptop version it doesn’t merge with the app version. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE! I love the app when it is working.
For the last moth or so every time I’m in a middle of looking at auctions it will automatically close and says not responding. I thought maybe it was my phone so I downloaded it on my tablet thinking that might help. Still doing it. I’ve tried to get through the same auction twice and both times it just stops. Makes me not want to use it if I have to start over on the same one every time it stops
App works. It’s nice to open the app instead of web browser. But using a web browser’s has more features that the app is missing. Would be nice to see total bids and max bid on watch page. Also show max bid on a auction item. Hate the photo verification when opening the app. Don’t have to do that on web browser. Would rather login instead of selecting right pictures.
My last review negative never got submitted, but I’m going to come back and leave another as this is the final straw. The app logged me out and wouldn’t let me log back in during a huge auction I was bidding on. There are endless problems between the HiBid applications and the auctioneers that use the platform. It’s not going to exist if they don’t lose the ancient methods. You’re better off using any other platform. I hope you can’t afford to keep your servers running. I come to spend & you have lost me.
Use desktop to bid as timer is not accurate. Also, the search capabilities as so poor as to be non existent. Finding by date or map is fine, but I cannot do a simple search by Auction House. Would also like the ability to sort by time or alphabetically. So again good to just look around but if you’re a serious bidder don’t rely on app.
I love the app, but I am running it on an iPhone 14 and for some reason after I scroll down maybe 20 or 30 pages it starts getting glitchy it freezes sometimes it wakes up. You go down far enough and it just reboots the app I can never seem to get to the bottom of the auctions.
You can’t search by lot # once you get into your chosen auction. It is constantly kicking you out of the app and then when you go back in you have to start your search all over. There is no general search where you can just type in a specific item name and it finds it. Auction items are not classified correctly. For example a .50 cal rifle should have been under ‘Rifles’ but it was under camping equipment. This app needs a lot of work.
On the website there is a symbol for when an auction does not offer shipping, but on this app no such symbol is used and I put out bids only to later find that that auction does not offer shipping. Needs to be addressed asap. The app also feels like it’s running 15 frames per second with how stuttery the scrolling feels. The only upside I’ve found is that I don’t have to constantly refresh a browser because a page won’t load randomly
I normally bid from my desktop. Used the app version over the weekend to monitor bids while I was away. App showed I had the winning bids up to closing. Came home to discover I lost ALL my auctions to snipe bids that the app failed to update. Do NOT trust this app if you are bidding!!! It's good for a search tool only. Use your desktop to monitor your active bids and soft closings. Frustrating!
I really like that there’s an app for this. However, the page will start stuttering after I scroll about five items down on my watch list, meaning I cannot view a single item past that point.
I have bought and sold hundreds of things on eBay and have never had such a terrible experience as I have with HiBid. I purchased an item more than two weeks ago and still have not receivedd the item or for that matter had the seller respond to my messages. What a scam. They charged my credit card and no item. Good luck making a complaint to HiBid! They never answer and the message said they will return my call during business hours. I called at 10am and 2pm. Hello those are business hours. So basically go to HiBid. Win an auction. Never get item. Never get any contact from seller. Never get any way to complain to HiBid. Out of money. Go to eBay!! Not HiBid.
This app is okay, but the filtering capabilities are really weak. You can’t really filter down much. Also, the sort function is awful. Generally, if you try to sort a list, all of your filters will be reset. Could be much better.
Love the site . The app is good but I have found issues with it. There are times pages will just jump and flicker. You can not scroll any longer. You have to shut the app down and try to find the page again. Please fix the glitch and it will be perfect!
I was very excited to find this app. Made a few successful purchases from local auctions, but then all of a sudden HiBid stopped allowing me to register for any auctions. I reached out to the auction companies directly and confirmed that it was HiBid not allowing me to register not the auction companies. I tried contacting HiBid multiple times, but to no luck. I don’t recommend this app to anyone.
The app is garbage. You can use it for a quick reference to your watchlist, and that’s about all I would recommend it for. The auction map (in the app) doesn’t list half of the auctions there actually are on the sites map. I don’t even know how that can be screwed up, but it is!
This app is constantly crashing. I would have to say it crashes at least half the time I am using it. Also when trying to scroll through your watchlist it will only let you scroll to a certain limit then it will automatically bump back up to the beginning of the list, so very annoying!
App continuously crashes when searching through auctions. There is also a glitch when scrolling down Through items where it doesn’t allow you to scroll any further. Would not recommend unless serious changes are made.
I like the App but it’s lacking key functionality, such as the ability to block specific auctions or block auction items that have reserves. It would be nice if the search provided advanced operators too.
Out of the 3 Auction bid apps I use, this one has the most problems. Not only that it’s standards for the sellers is so lax they can sell broken pieces of junk with no recourse. I applaud AuctionTime because they have standards and requires the sellers revile any defective or inoperable items for us out of state or area buyers that don’t have the option to do pre inspections.
Why do I have to verify who I am by clicking on pictures every time I open this app? I am the only person using my phone. This is the first time I’ve ever wrote a review but this is ridiculous!! And it seems like if I’m using it to bid on multiple items at the end of a auction it will lock up
I have tried many things on my end to fix my iPhone if my iPhone is been an issue but it is not and I’ve emailed and called HiBid and the number to technical assistance and no one has ever returned my phone calls. I wish that it wouldn’t crash so much.
Every time I use the app after about 2 minutes the app starts to slow down and crash. So I use the web based site and there are no issues. I like the app since it’s a little more organized but I’ll use the website until you fix the issues.
I for a while used this app and when it goes to the live bidding or rebidding it wants you to “reregister”. So because of this I have lost numerous items. This is a bad app. EBay has it right. I should only have to register once. Not each time I need to rebid. I have to close out the app and try to open it up in time again. Definitely WORST APP FOR BIDDING!!
The app will close mid scroll, but when you reopen it won’t have saved your search, so you have to find the auction and sometimes scroll through hundreds of items to get back to where you were.
No recourse or support against dishonest auctioneers
This auction service allows auctioneers who dishonestly refuse to send out items won, to then leave negative feedback for the bidders they rip off preventing them from making future bids. No customer support and no buyer recourse against dishonest and unprofessional auctioneers that sell on HiBid.
Nice to have HiBid as an app, but it is glitchy. Sometimes closes itself in the middle of use. Scrolling gets jumpy, sometimes won’t even continue. Kinda meh overall.
Overall app works fine, but every time when I am scrolling the screen stutters or bounces up and down that will not allow me to look at the remaining items.
They decide what price you pay for thing this is not an auction it’s a store for used things que you win and the price you won for us not what they expected to get for the item they won’t give to you even tho you won Once again THIS IS NOR AN AUCTION IS A STORE FOR USTED ITEMS
This website is awful! It never works. It is slow to load if it does work at all there’s so many glitches. Absolutely terrible. Someone needs to go back to the drawing board on this.
