Powerful Features and Beautiful Design

I was funneled into an absolute dinosaur of a banking institution by my employer, but then I found Lively. With this app I can track contributions in a beautiful pie graph and flush spare dollars to a separate TD Ameritrade investment account. But my favorite feature is the ability to document medical expenses and upload corresponding receipts for later reimbursement. This makes it so easy to use a rewards credit card to pay for medial expenses. Also, everybody warns you to take distributions right away if you are bad at record-keeping, because this will keep you out of trouble with the IRS. Yet this app can be one more source of backup for important documents. Anyways, no HSA provider or facilitator that I’ve found is offering the same level of functionality or modernity that is company is, so making them my sole HSA provider was no-brainer for me.

Hands Off HSA Roll Over

This feature was the easiest way I have ever done an HSA trustee to trustee transfer. All I had to do was know my old HSA account number and the bank (of course I had to liquidate my old accounts investments but you have to do that for a rollover anyway). Couple of clicks, the form was filled out for me all I had to do was an electronic signature. Less than 5 mins. The last time I had to do a rollover it took months, and paperwork. Lively’s way is the best I’ve ever seen.

Simply Excellent

Everything about Lively HSA has been fantastic. I am so appreciative for their website and app’s simple design. The connection with TD Ameritrade is seamless and the customer service has been above expectations. Their regular informational newsletters are even more helpful. This company has completely changed my healthcare savings/investment habits. Thank you Lively!

Stay away

I recently attempted to sign up with Lively, but both their app and website failed to process my registration, repeatedly giving an error. When I reached out to their support team, I received a vague and unhelpful response: "Upon review by our security team, we are unable to open a Lively HSA for you and we have no further information for you." There was no reasoning provided for this decision. This lack of transparency and professionalism is concerning and makes it clear that this company is not trustworthy. I strongly advise others to stay away from this company.

Inconsistent access

I was excited and impressed when I first started using the Lively app. Now after almost 3 months of using it, I have lost access to my info 2x. It is currently down for the second time. The first time it took 2 emails, a call, and a week to get access to my info. When I called this second time, they said they know it was down on apple products. They were working on it but had no estimate of when I would have access to my info again. Very disappointing.

One of the best HSAs avail

Incredible features, no fees, TD/Schwab investing, Lively is a fantastic HSA. The only reason I took a point off is their auth and spiral galaxy captcha nonsense just make it harder to use for no good reason. Bad decisions like that always make me wonder where else they’re going to make bad decisions, hopefully it’s just a rogue PM or engineer doing something stupid and the rest of the service stays great.

Very user friendly!

Graphics were inviting and colorful and layout was very intuitive. Well thought out app and easy to use!

Continuous issues typing $ amounts

For some reason, on both the app and the website, I can’t type in the value field. The first time was adding a $ amount to maintain in the account before sweeping to be invested. I had to call in and have them do it from their end. Now I can’t type a value in the “one-time contribution” field. No matter what numbers I press the field refused to input anything. Now I’ll have to call again…

You money impossible to access

I tried to use Lively for my medical expenses and high deductible health plan. The investing options don’t interest me, I am sick today and need to use my lively card. After depositing $3k and one month later and the debit card still doesn’t work. I have to upload receipts and reimburse myself paying myself out of a different pocket that is mine but now I don’t have access to. Everyone is eligible for one roll out check to switch HSA providers only once a year so I’m making my next choice to move carefully.

Does not recognize password on iPad Pro 11”

Does not recognize my password on iPad Pro 11”. Sometimes it teases and get as far as identify these objects in the picture. The app on my 2 different model iPhones works normal. Way to go Lively app team, after this May 2021 update my iPad Pro can use this app since it recognizes my password. Thanks!

If privacy matters to you…

Please read their privacy policy. You cannot opt out of tracking on their website and the app is a privacy nightmare. Why do you need my fitness info? From their website.. “ We do not currently respond to “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that might enable Users to opt out of tracking on our Site.” Remember if it’s free… you are the product.

Bad funds transfer access speed

Overall the app is functional but my experience thus far has been super slow access to funds deducted from my bank account being available to invest and super slow transfer of additional funds to my chosen brokerage. It’s frustrating if one is trying to manage money but my guess is that they use the float to boost profits. Not all is as it seems.

A losing investment

I’m not impressed with the investment portion of this website/ HSA. When setting it up your goals you toggle between answers and I can’t get it to my exact age or set accurately in any of the other metrics. And after several months in the managed investing all that has happened is that I’ve lost money. I keep hoping I get back to even and then I’m pulling my money out!

Account Denied

My account was denied. After contacting customer service multiple times (during their extremely limited hours) I was told that the security security team reviewed my account and they couldn’t open it. There was nothing they could do. No option to figure out what the issue was and try and correct it. Just another company trying to collect personal information. 0 stars.

HSAs are now easier than ever!!

Lively’s features are definitely created with the user in mind. In a very simple way I can quickly access my HSA, view my investments and pay my HSA bills. Lively helps me manage my HSA in a way that’s effective and painless.

A great HSA and a beneficial app!

I’ve had a Lively HSA account for about a year now. Switched to it from another (more costly) HSA provider. Lively is exactly what a 21st century HSA should be. The app is a great tool for tracking contributions, investments AND adding expenses to be reimbursed. Love it.

Easy to use

Fairly easy to use app, much better system than my former HSA. It could be more intuitive. For instance having a button on the opening page for a contribution would help.

Nice

Great to use with a pleasing UI. Easy to navigate around with no confusing tabs. The only crucial feature it’s lacking is security. I highly advise the team to introduce MFA/2 factor authentication for its users security. Everything else is good.

Had all my money stolen from them and they are making me do all the work

I opened my app to pay a health bill - ALL my money had been stolen by some crook in Saudi Arabia spending HSA on non health related items. Suddenly I’m the one having to fill out forms for VISA. My credit union would never have allowed this. I think I’ll get my HSA with them instead of these bums. Don’t trust them AT ALL.

Next generation HSA

Everyone should be prepared for medical expenses and Lively makes it 10x easy to do so. Top customer support and great investment options. Easy to use as well! On top of that, no fees?! Love it.

Great App

Inaccessible since covid-19

Ever since the market crashed from covid-19 the app doesn't load your balance. I have medical bills to pay and can't even see something as basic as my balance. I'm trying to figure out how to transfer the money to a new HSA to be able to pay my bills. Whatever you do, don't trust this company with your HSA.

Lively does not challenge charge disputes

I recently sent over a challenge to a charge on my Lively card as a fraudulent charge and Lively has come back and said it is a valid charge when it is not I never received the product or service from this vendor that they said is valid. Buyer beware of Lively.

The app works well, save for the login process. It won’t remember FaceID info even the next day, and check the “remember me for 14 days” option for 2FA NEVER works.

So far it’s not good…

I just opened an account and downloaded the app, and so far, the app is unusable. Every time I touch a button or menu, the screen goes black for varying lengths of time. I haven’t funded it yet, and I may not.

iPad Version

I would love to see a version for the iPad that takes advantage of the extra screen size. Otherwise Lively Me is great for HSA management. So simple.

“Verification Error”

App is pretty useless when there has been a supposed “verification error” any time I try to log in for the last few months. The website works just fine; the app, not at all.

Can’t make contributions

I’ve been unable to make contributions to my account. Despite using the “help” feature, I still can’t make contributions. It’s 1 week before the end of the year and now is a really bad time for a glitch like this.

Fees again

Investing used to be free here. Now there’s a fee or you have to have $3000!!! Just sitting in your account earning no interest. Who knows what fees will be next. Lively is just a mediocre HSA
