Last minute effort
Tonight I watched the item I was bidding on reboot another 2 minutes FOUR times because another bidder was trying to raise the bid. I have no idea if it was someone at Mac that didn’t want the item to go for a low price or if it was legitimate. The item is now costing me $6 more dollars but when you add in the percentage and fees, it makes a difference. I did read another review where the person complained about quality. I have purchased 3 of the same category of item ( some new/some open box) none have worked. If things like this continue, I agree- not worth the low price.

Used to be a solid liquidator…things change.
We started using M@c Discount and their app several years back when they only had 3 locations I believe, but now it’s almost as if they’re too big for their own good. 80% of their listings have garbage descriptions because 80% of their workforce is lazy, so 80% of everything you purchases ends up reflecting all of these shortcomings. As time has gone on, the likelihood that we’re bidding on and winning an item that is heavily used and non-working has increased drastically, and it’s really beginning to anger me. Even the “like new” items don’t work or are missing pieces the majority of the time. I can only count on maybe one hand the number of accurately described items we’ve won, and we’ve likely bought over 100 items in the last 3 years…some have been major purchases too. It’s extremely disappointing and over time, if they don’t start cleaning up their listing process, more and more customers are going to stop using them. But hey, who am I, right?! Just another complainer…just bid at your own risk. Remember also, their item condition rating system is a joke and if you try to ask for support for a bad item, you’ll get their usual response basically stating there is no difference between like new, open box, or damaged…any of the three could be in literally any shape.

Great Discounts
I have been bidding on items for a couple years now. For the most part I have gotten really good items. There is a learning curve to the bidding. You have to understand what the fees are on top of the bid price. They do offer “insurance “ as an option. Which I do use if the item is electric or expensive. You need to pay attention to what store you are bidding at and if the items are able to transfer to the store near you. Don’t get caught up in the bidding wars because next thing you know the item is way over bid. It’s easy to use the app to get in and out of the stores too. I have only had really nice experiences with the employees. They explain everything so one can understand how it all works. The only negative I can say about the business is I wish sometimes there were better pictures of the items up for bid. But they do offer for anyone that wants to check out an item to do so before bidding.

Glitchy! Especially during auction closing time
The title says it all. The app and the website are both glitchy all the time but they get way worse closer it gets to closing time for the auctions. I have missed several items because I couldn’t get the website or the app to cooperate or stop like I said it’s worse during the evening when options are closing, but even during the day or late at night, the Apple just randomly crash and have to be restarted. I’m not talking about every once in a while. It happens every couple minutes sometimes and during auction time your watchlist literally refreshes every 30 seconds and takes you right back to the top of the list which half the time is filled with things that I’ve already closed and shouldn’t be on the list anymore. I like the good deals, but it’s frustrating to lose things because their website can’t handle all the traffic. I’ve also received things from the actual auction that were supposed to be in good condition that were clearly broken and missing pieces. I reached out, told me too bad that I should have come in, and checked the items before I bought them

I think you should download this app 🙃
First off I want to thank my uncle for putting me onto this app!! I’ve won so many things so far and I’m going to continue trying to win more! I see a lot of reviews talking about items are broken etc etc… Yes you should definitely shop at your own risk but there’s always a description of the item listed. It may say broken, open box, new, etc… pictures are included. So if the box looks broken and torn up there’s usually more than one of the same item listed so you can always find another! The workers at the Rock Hill location were always so helpful every time I came to pickup my items! It was a little tricky at first to find things but now I think I got the hang of it! Usually buying things not first hand comes with risks… Especially with some of the discounts you may get but I believe the things you can find are completely worth spending the money on 🤎

Incorrect item bid on at pick up
This organization has bad business practices. When you bid on an item you’re expecting to get the item that you bid on. I bid on a twin size mattress that was rolled up in a bag and then when I looked to go pick it up the picture changed there’s no number to call the actual location in Washington PA so I at 10 o’clock when the customer service opens, I called and left a message. I sent an email explaining hey, I’ve been on an item and when I’m about to go pick it up which is like 45 minutes from my house it won’t even fit in my car because it’s not the item I bid on spoke to a lady in customer service, who returned my call and stated that while she was looking at my item, the picture change three times but then my response to her is if you can see that it’s changing on your end but your actually that I bid on makes no sense. Make sure you take a screenshot of the item that you bid on. I doubt it if you’ll do anything unless you pay for that insurance or pay for the monthly premium because apparently they can sell you items that are totally different from the one you bet on

Don’t do it
The app works fine, but buyer beware. Make sure that you understand that what you buy/win might not even work. I won an auction for a good paper shredder. It was listed as “open box”, not damaged. Got it home, and it doesn’t work. I notified them, and they told me I should have checked it at the pickup location, and they basically weren’t going to do anything. It had to be over 25 dollars (I paid 24 conveniently), and it had to be within 5 days of the auction (I had it shipped to a closer location for me, so it was past that window. Again, conveniently.) The original company couldn’t even help me, since I didn’t buy from them. They literally told me that it was junk when I described the problem to them (it would turn on, but wouldn’t make any noise or shred anything.) I get that it’s only 24 bucks. But I’m glad I didn’t spend hundreds on something, like one of their Roombas, for example. Could you imagine paying several hundred dollars, it not work, and you possibly be out all of that money. I’m just dissatisfied, and wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the stipulations of bidding/buying from them. At your own risk.

Used to buy from Mac
I used to be a Mac-a-holic like a lot of other reviews on here but it’s going down hill fast. My location has nothing good anymore. What is worth bidding goes for almost the cost of brand new stuff. EVERYTHING you buy is broke. They used to have bids on Friday evenings but switched that to Sunday nights to make a couple extra bucks. The app is terrible, it crashes all the time on iPhone. I don’t even waste my time getting on there to look anymore. They don’t even offer anything for the rapid count down clock bids at my location anymore. A lot of things seem to start at set prices higher than I would even bid which is real shady. If those items don’t get bid on. It seems like someone won them but in reality, they just transfer them over to other stores bids or group them in rapid bids or visa versa. I seriously was going through Mac almost daily to not at all. It was a lot of fun and my family would always give me a hard time about it. I’m really disappointed with MaBids, I hope someone actually reads this. Honestly, I’d rather just by brand new at this point, not worth my trouble.

App update fixed little and broke others
App used to be about 70% effective. It would work for the most part but there were quirks: -tapping the phone icon in the search bar brings up a white screen and cancel button that locks the app -occasionally trying to change between saved keyword listings will cause the app the crash -on several occasions during an auction it would show me as the highest bidder up until the second the auction closed and then updated to reflect I was outbid with no warning and end the auction -items based on your watchlist section would include items from locations not in my stored warehouses too far to obtain So far after updating, only the last item seems better, though I haven’t completed enough auctions to know if the outbid update works. Rest of the problems are absolutely there with a new one: trying to swipe left to view more items in the For You page shifts the entire page and not the desired row, unless you’re surgically precise with the speed you do the action.

Bid I didn’t place
All of a sudden I saw I was the winning bid for a drain cleaner machine for $215! I had gotten on to check another item I was bidding on and noticed a #2 on the star when I was only bidding on 1 item. I had to search bid history to even find what this item was. I never placed this bid. I’m a 71 year old woman living in a 55+ community. I called support twice and sent an email and it took 2 days to get email reply but did get to talk to rep on 2nd call. I really got no support. Said it was placed by me at 1:39 on day before when I know I was not even on my phone because I was talking in person to my son-in-law cause my car had broke down. The support I received was to bid again and get Buyer’s Assurance and return! The amazing thing is there was never another bid placed on this item after me even though he said it had gone from $0 to $215 in less then a day!! Way to fishy!! I tried that but it was a “Max Bid” bid and since the bid never changed it never showed up! So I’m out $266! And I don’t even know how I’ll get this home! I very disgusted and done with this company!

Just don’t bother
Absolutely terrible business. Made my first purchase on a treadmill that was according the app “Like New”. I also selected the buyers risk assurance for an additional $5. I won the bid and went to pick it up in Rock Hill. The staff was terrible and rude and rushed me out of the place. I had to load the treadmill by myself. Got it home and the “Like New” treadmill was missing parts (including the power cord) and the plastic on it was busted in several parts. Found a power cord I had at home and plugged it in. Nothing no power. I contacted customer service about it and basically they won’t do anything. You have to inspect the item before you leave the facility. Yeah, try that with that staff working there and see how that goes. And the like new means absolutely nothing. They glance at it and do not test it or really open it to see what the condition is. And they will not stand by the description. Also went to look at my receipt. The buyers assurance $5.00 wasn’t on there. How convenient. These people are crooks. Do not purchase anything from them!

Needs to be more diligent about products information
This particular company is a good concept. But there’s too many times that there products don’t match what their advertising and what you’re bidding on. There’s too many pitfalls of people not putting correctly on the site. What’s included in the product. Too many products have missing parts or missing boxes. it’s a love-hate relationship with this particular app and company. It takes time energy gas money and everything else that goes along with driving to facility to pick up the product to find out that it’s missing parts and other things as well. This company is grown extremely fast, almost too fast for its own good because their employees should be taking more care and looking through to see if the products their advertising on their site are complete. it’s really frustrating because it’s a crapshoot at best of whether or not you’re getting something that’s whole or not.

Deceptive Product Listings and Misleading Practices at Monroeville Stores
I have a list of products with various conditions such as open box and damaged. However, it seems that the stores, particularly in Monroeville, are not fully transparent about what these conditions mean. When I looked at the photos of the products labeled as open box, I noticed that they were taken from a distance or the damaged parts were deliberately hidden, making the product appear as if it’s in good condition. They don’t categorize the products as damaged, even when they clearly are, and instead, they conceal the flaws to make it seem like the product is in perfect condition. Why is this happening? Because the products are sold "as is," and unless the buyer pays an extra $8-$9, they're stuck with the product. Many of the products are either broken or defective, so be prepared to lose money if you decide to purchase from them. Otherwise, your money will end up in the hands of companies like Mac Bid, which are essentially money traps.

Treasure Hunt
People who give M@C a poor rating don’t understand how it works and haven’t bothered to educate themselves with the terms and conditions. These are buyouts, close outs and returned items. You can inspect before you bid. People think they’re buying brand new items and then complain when parts are missing. I’ve gotten amazing deals! I won a brand new Dyson stick vac for $70! I bought a dining room table that had a scratch, paid a handyman $20 and he fixed it and looks brand new! The table retailed for over $1000 - I paid $120. My husband has won guitars, amps, the list goes on. I’ve won some stuff that was damaged - calphalon pan that was dented on one side, but it still works. The employees aren’t lazy! They’ve always been great at the Washington and Monroeville locations!!!

App is OK - products also OK
I don’t have much of a problem with the app - you need to learn how to use it. Not a steep learning curve - but there’s some particulars that take a minute to grasp. Be careful tho - they list stuff as ‘open box’ and it seems they do this to cover themselves. The item descriptions are vague and or lacking info because the volume is so high (I believe). But items will appear new and then you pick it up and get it home and realize it has a dent or a piece is missing or it’s just broken or it’s been used... so be prepared to ‘lose’ on some of this stuff - they also give you the option to come inspect items - which I feel is just another way for them to turn down return of items. I’ve received a used toothbrush (gross), and a tool box that doesn’t close cause it’s dented, and a vacuum that was used and still had dirt and hair in it. Most things you get for half price - so you get some good buys, but you can also get burned on stuff.

A+ Customer Service!!
Ive been using mac bid for a little bit now due to some home repairs ive been doing along with storing some stuff ill need for college and i just want to say how wonderful the customer service is! From the support calls to the people in stores! If i have a question, it can be answered. If i have a problem, it can be fixed! As much as the app could probably use some reworks here and there, any app has small issues like that and on the rare occasion it affects items im buying or im picking up this place takes accountability unlike so many others!! Everythings been absolutely wonderful and has truly changed my life for the better with how small my paycheck is every week. I can splurge and get stuff for me :)

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Don’t use this app to try to save some money on things you want to buy! My husband and I both bid and won a cordless vacuum cleaner and a laptop. Both are very visibly used and both do NOT work! The vacuum has hair and dust in it. The batteries are fully charged but the vacuum wont turn on. The laptop my husband got had food stuck in the keys and turned on once for him to set up. The battery was almost dead so he plugged it in and NOTHING! It doesn’t get power. We brought it to someone who fixes computers and nothing can be done to fix it! We spent a total of $500 trying to SAVE money and ended up losing out! Shame on you M@c Discounts for labeling CLEARLY USED ITEMS as an “open box” item! And unless you purchase insurance you can’t get your money back! Before you buy go to their website and do your research on their verbiage so you know how to properly buy stuff. I am beyond mad with this app! I will be contacting a lawyer to see what can be done!

Fishy Won then Lost Auction Behavior
I’ve been using the app for about 2 months. On two occasions now, I’ve won an item only to then have the listing change to indicate someone else magically won. I watch as the time counts down to zero and then I’ve taken screen shots that show the item greyed out, the auction closed and an indication that mine is the winning bid only for some time to pass and I’m shown to have somehow magically been out bid. Then shortly thereafter, I see the items back for sale. It is my suspicion that the company does this purposefully when they don’t get the amount of money they want for an item. I took these screen to the local manager who just shrugged and said, ‘yeah that happens’ and indicated it’s a waste of time to follow up with the corporate office because they won’t do anything about it. I’d give one star for the app for this reason but I’ve also gotten some satisfaction on other auctions. If this is a defect, it needs fixed immediately. If it’s fraud: the company needs investigated. I recommend everyone take screenshots when you win. Maybe if enough people have evidence and complain this will get resolved. I should also note that the app is generally slow, unresponsive and needs closed frequently to reset. (Unlike any other app on my phone.)

Take your time
I love this app. I’ve got multiple items already and everything was in perfect/unused condition. All the boxes were “opened” and one box was beat up but miraculously no damage to item. You can “inspect” the item at the warehouse before bidding to check for possible damages. Tips: put a limit for what you are willing to spend…I won’t bid pass 50% of retail price. Take into count the additional fees…$2 on every item, 15% buyers premium, and of course sales tax. And research the item to make sure it’s what you expect. The app can show you items from specific locations, which is important. I’ve saved so much money and I’m completely satisfied with the quality of the items.

Eh it’s ok but expect a lot of fees!
It’s an ok app my wife and I did our first bids and everything went fine the things we won are working, but the fees are ridiculous, for example I won two thing equaling a total of 20 dollars and I have to pay a 10 dollar fee so the real total came out to 31 and some change it feel like a little bit of a robbery first your paying for the product then you have to do the work of picking it up and putting it in a cart then dragging it to your vehicle so what does this stupid fee pay for if I’m doing all the work ! Then you take a risk at buying something broken ! I feel the fee isn’t fair had it been 5 dollars for a 20 dollar purchase is fine but that 50% of what I’m spending on the product to begin with ! Gave it two stars since it works fine but honestly the fees are ridiculous !

Latest app update is terrible.
The update will probably stop me from bidding. The app worked fine for the past year I’ve been using it. The newest update is basically a poor mobile version of their new website. It’s complete garbage to use. Search function is practically worthless and the simplistic design that allowed you to scroll quickly through items is now gone. If the app is terrible, I can’t find items. If I can’t find items, I can’t bid on them. Also, I have to agree with some other reviews I’ve seen. There’s a recent trend to list everything as “open box” when it’s clearly broken or missing components. Why have a “damaged” distinction if your “open box” also allows for damaged items? Take some time to inspect the items and be honest with the description. If you continually disappoint your customers, you won’t have repeat business. You might be doing fine now but the business won’t survive without repeat customers. My personal experience with M@C discount has been relatively good. I’ve gotten good deals on working items and only 1 or 2 small cost items that were broken or missing 70% of the contents (i.e. 2 out of 5 items in a set). I’d rate them as 4 stars if the newest app update was usable. But this is a rating of the app and it’s user experience.

Decent service but terrible app
Overall the service/company are what they are. They sell returned merchandise and you need to be aware of what you are bidding on. Things may be missing pieces or have scratches so keep that in mind, also there are fees on top of your bid. But if you are smart and patient then you can still find decent deals. The app though is complete garbage. In 5 minutes of browsing it makes my phone too hot to hold and drains 10% of my battery. It’s clearly a poorly optimized web app that is streaming time and price updates for every product loaded at the same time. If eBay can get this functionality right there is no reason this app can’t as well. Lastly, naming it “m@c” is infuriating, it’s impossible to search for without switching to the symbols keyboard. Make it “Mac discounts” or set that as an alternate badge to allow me to easily search for it.

Not to happy
I had bid on things and my granddaughter was picking them up because she goes to school by there so I didn’t get my thing until the end of the week I wish I had just pick them up because I would not have bid on anything after the first time because mostly everything had missing pieces or didn’t work or so dirty from being used I always wanted an espresso machine and I was so happy that I finally able to afford one and I was so excited until I opened it it was used dirty and had missing pieces 😩 I know they said to inspect it before you been on things but that’s a joke you go there the employees are not happy to go get the stuff just for you to look at they’re busy and they don’t have time for it. if only they would say used or missing parts that’s all I then I can be aware and prepared not disappointed

Not really
Three things: 1- the app is eh and so is the website especially if on your phone. It would keep jumping back up to the top as I would scroll which is really annoying. 2- it doesn’t let you choose a city and search specifically in that city using the search bar. It always shows from every city when I only want it to look in a specific city. 3- they sell “open box” items that are actually damaged items and missing parts that in turn can’t be purchased so therefore they are just scamming you on some of the products and sure they say you can come take a look but if you don’t live in the area and are trusting they will tell you the full truth of any product you see online and are willing to make a drive for, well, they don’t.

App Crashes and Overheats my Phone Constantly!
While most reviews seem to be for the company and not the app (wrong place, but valid sentiments) I’m here because it’s beyond frustrating that my phone (iPhone 13 pro) gets overheated every time I use the app, which has literally never happened with any other app even once. On top of that, fully half of the time the screen goes white and freezes the app completely or at least resets to the main page with no search filters when trying to do keyword searches or just browse with a location filter. Finally, what is the point of specifying pickup locations at the app level if that selection isn’t reflected in the listings that are shown throughout the app? Using this app is like a special kind of torture and sadly the website (mobile version) isn’t any better.

BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!!
(Issue is not with the app) Issue is with the company! DON’T risk the temptations, They sell TRASH!!! They pretend as if they don’t check the items, but they know an open box item is Damaged, Used or completely trash!! Even the items that say Like New are not as advertised! Every item I won from three different locations were all trash!! Boxes were all sealed up and looked fine, however when opened, all were completely damaged!! When you try to ask for help they say all their items are AS IS or NO RETURNS! They say you need to goto the location and inspect the items before bidding! I never give negative feedback/reviews but this place is Horrible!!! There is no excuse for what they are doing to people!!! BBB was contacted and I hope others contact them as well! Please take my word and don’t fall for it!

App user beware!
I have frequently used the M@C bid app since they opened in Beaver Falls. I've no issue with the auction including poor choice bidding on my part-it's an auction (buyer beware). Today something new occurred: while scrolling items the app suddenly said I purchased something. No click that I'm aware of, no confirmation requested. It's only $3.20 so it isn't going to break the bank, however, it seems clear the app isn't functioning correctly. "Customer service" refused to help or bother to understand the issue. They said if I bid on something (I didn't) I'm obligated to pay for it. Lousy "customer service". This app needs fixed. App user BEWARE!

Ridiculous
I bought a pallet which stated there was 28 vacuums on it. The pallet said used vacuums however in the manifest it only said used beside two of the 28 vacuums. Upon receiving and unloading the pallet every vacuum was used and absolutely FILTHY. Dog hair, human hair, nasty stuff clogging the filters. They do not work. Now I can understand open box whatever whatever but if they were that damaged they could have put all returned bc they don’t work or didn’t like them so we knew they were all used. I’ve never been so dissatisfied with a purchase from here. I’ve ordered hundreds of dollars worth of items and this is literally a huge scam. Obviously wouldn’t have paid over 200 for vacuums that won’t turn on. The fact that management is doing nothing as well and won’t transfer me to my local store is even more of a joke.

Great place to pick up items
Great place to pick up items for good savings. Sometime great buys . But you do need to careful and not bid over retail. Buyer assurance is great to have if you cannot inspect the item. Robinson crew is great to work with . Always pleasant and friendly. It is a way to save and help keep items out of the landfill just as states when opening the app. Have fun, get great deals and you take time to research pricing . It does come with up and downs , but I have had more positive experiences than bad. It’s my go to for saving money. Thank you for bringing this type auction to Pittsburgh area .

Downward slope.
I used to love Mac-Bid. I have bought all kinds of things for my church, family, school, and myself. I used to be (let’s say) 70-75% satisfied with all my purchases. The descriptions were usually right. As of the last year (especially Uniontown) I can be almost certain the product is not satisfactory. They’re either broken or missing important pieces, completely dirty. Most of the time in Uniontown, the research part of the app doesn’t help, but I’m able to find the product description myself. I relate this to laziness of the people in charge of the listings. I just want my reliable, old Mac-Bid back. However, I must say that the help at the store are very helpful and willing to go out of their way to lend a hand. Roxanne

Used to be good
The app used to be good and fast. Now it freezes, restarts, and glitches/lags often. The worst is when you are monitoring an item auction that is close to ending and the app decides to crash. I have lost out on many items due to this malfunction. Many times it will not reload either and I am forced to remove the app and re-download it from the App Store. As we speak I am going on two hours without the use of the app. I have likely lost out on the four items I was bidding on. It’s quite frustrating as it used to be reliable and dependable. I don’t know what happened. I thought technical things like apps used bug fixes to get better…not in this case. It just keeps getting worse even when it does work.

Almost everything is broke or missing parts now the app freezes and have to restart
Do your people take blurry photos on purpose? How about listing it as broken when you move the box and all you hear is broken glass . This buyer assurance is a huge scam . You have to pay an extra $ 10 on each item to be able to get a refund. Almost every thing I bought there was broken missing parts incomplete or damaged . They make it so you have to buy the insurance for everything. That’s not right . I even bought “Like New” items that were broken so be aware of what to expect. Please take better pictures of items and describe the condition accurately. It’s really a gamble and most of the time they win !

New App Update
Not loving the new update. I like that they have added "featured" products however they have gotten rid of the the ability to distinguish between big box and regular lots. In addition, I am seeing the ability to "star" or save an item to view later however whenever I try to find my saved items they are nowhere to be found... I swear I have looked under every button I could press. Not sure if this is a glitch or if I'm just missing it? Either way, the accessibility of not having/being able to find this saved items listing is a real bummer and makes it much harder to remember which items to bid on, hence most likely resulting in the company losing out on many bids-- please fix this!!

Keeps saying must update
Was forced to update the app and now it breaks down all the time! It freezes and stalls. Error messages pop up in the middle of use to say “newer app available must update”. You only have one option- update. It takes you to the App Store and there is no option to update, only to open. Why? Because the app was already updated——- updated to a terrible version! I enjoyed Mac Bid before- I understood the quirks and the risks— but at least the app was useable. This new update occurred yesterday for me and I’m ready to toss it—- it takes way to long to scroll and find an item now and keeps stalling to say update. Certainly not worth the hassle as I’ve already missed a few bids I was watching.

Dishonest
They are lying to people, they said that something is like new in order to make people to bid higher. They say: when the items are like new, you can let them now before living the facilities, however, when you make a claim, they find the way to reject your claim. For example, they say something is like new, and you check it before you leave. If the item is not working, they say “like new doesn’t mean the item is working “ basically they are obligating everyone to buy insurance which they increased from $2 to $5. They should put everything as open box and stop being dishonest. On the other hand hand, they put items like new when clearly it was open, making you spend time, money, gas, and miles for nothing.

Y’all skinny guy was very rude. Had a misunderstanding about unpaid item. Told me that I do not spend A lot of money there which this is my Second account Half of my items are broken I did not receive The email saying that my item was unpaid for I would never bid on something if I can not pay for it it was a misunderstanding i’m a loyal customer but he treated me like crap I even proved it that I did not receive the email he could’ve been more understanding and gave me a chance and said next time I won’t have a chance to pay this is bad customer service I have never been talked to like that buy a employee anywhere before. Accidents and mistakes happen it’s a part of life I am human . Have some understanding. I’m a nurse I work long hours and don’t have time for this rudeness especially as a LOYAL CUSTOMER

Horrible app and website
This is an ongoing issue with them. They apparently hire middle school kids to run their website and app. And at a guess, a middle school kid could do better. Constantly crashing. Won’t load. Blanks out in middle of bidding. Refining search criteria is almost funny. I don’t have issue with company as I understand how it works. Sell stuff returned by other people. Some good. Some bad and some basically new. Prices are solely based on bids. People don’t always have good sense. I watch bids go Higher Than the full retail prices. People aren’t very smart sometimes. I research everything I bid on. Why would it have been returned etc. My issue is 100% with their lack of knowledge of technology

Could be great, easy app, but mostly horrendous.
Horrendous optimization. App goes blank often with a white overlay blocking any item view; you can still scroll and click on items, but it will continue to only display a white screen until you close the app and relaunch it. This app absolutely nukes your phone battery unlike any other app I’ve used. Plug your phone in, or expect to lose 30% battery in under 15 minutes. It’s ridiculous (and yes, this is a phone with good battery health). When browsing for items in your keyword watch list, it often resets and refreshes, sending you all the way back to the home screen. At this point, using the website in your mobile browser is the least painful way to use the site.

App Needs Improvement
Love the concept and great deals from M@C, Their Quality Assurance could use some improvement but overall M@C is great. The low 1 star rating is specific to the app. The app constantly crashes, drains battery and has a glitch with mobile responsiveness (if phone is turned/moved even just a little, the app will glitch and I have to exit and then reopen app). It would be nice if the filter options could be saved (example: I try to only purchase “Like New” items. I have to choose the “Like New” filter option each time I use the app. It would also be great if you could pick up where you left when viewing items rather than having to having to start at the top of the list each time you enter the app.

Crap store
So I must say I thought this was a good idea. The app works fine but this whole thing is ripping people off. I went to the actual store looked at the box because it was sealed. They know they are selling damaged products. I bought a cooler, box was in perfect condition, which they re-packed it in. Low and behold the handle was cracked and would make it troublesome to transport stuff in it. They knew it was broken and still sold it. I bought a scale too. Box in great condition, not working. It shouldn’t be a crap shoot when you are spending money. I get that there might be some cosmetic damage but knowingly selling things that are broken is ridiculous. Maybe I’m just unlucky but I’m done buying stuff from here….

I love the idea but lots of flaws
I love everything about the idea of it, but the app is just not good. The app keeps refreshing or just shuts down randomly. I have never gotten a notification to remind me when an auction is ending. 90% of the time you can not trust the description on the items, you have to look closely at the pictures. They will say like new in the description but still miss pieces. If I’m scrolling through the app it will take me all the way back to the top. Whenever I tap on an item to try to bid on it all that happens is I get a white screen and can not bid on anything, I restart the app and the same thing happens again. I love the idea of it, but it’s just not good

Great buys!
I have only purchased about a dozen different items but every thing I have bought so far has been in top notch condition! My sister also furnished her whole apartment from this furniture. So far we have had an excellent experience and when I picked up my items at the Canton warehouse the gentleman working there had exceptional customer service! He helped me load everything into my car cuz i had my baby along. He even helped me open some boxes because not everything would fit.

Don’t.
This company is absolutely atrocious. I tried speaking to customer service about two late fees I incurred due to not being able to even access the app for two days after an update and Angela was so inflammatory and rude - outright lying to me about reports of the app crashing. she then told me a supervisor “may or may not” call me back. So I’m currently filing disputes on every charge they’ve made. Update: they banned my account for writing this review, and I am now unable to pick up any of the items I won. Filing chargebacks now for fraud and reporting to the AG 😂 UPDATE: they tried to file criminal charges with the state PD, who told me he knew about what kind of business they were and that disputing charges for these things wasn’t outside of my rights. Nice try.

Horrible experience
I would not recommend buying from them. They put up a picture of the item new, and then they take a picture of the item in the box with it half covered. I just picked up an air fryer and when we opened the box, the handle was ripped off, the door did not close, and it looked like it had fallen off a truck or something. The box, itself, did not look too bad. They described the item as open box, but they did not say that it was not working. A second item that I bought was also labeled as open box, but it was missing parts. If you decide to use them, make sure to go in and inspect the items before bidding or you are likely to just end up throwing away your money.

BUYER BEWARE
Most of their merchandise is the broken or damaged stuff that has been returned. They DO NOT check anything for functionality. I have bought chairs that had to have the holes for the screws to redrilled because they are not lined up. These chairs were from different lots. And another that was purchased wasn’t even the one that I bid on! I bought 2 clocks. The pendulum doesn’t work on one, and the hands don’t work on the other. Another purchase was 6 different styles and assorted manufacturers of string lights. 4 didn’t work, one partially worked, and one box didn’t even have the lights in it! What does it take to simply plug something in to see if it works and then sell it accordingly!?! This company is the epitome of selfish business!

Pretty good
The app interface is atrociously bugged and for some reason on my new iPhone 14 pro it absolutely murders my battery and my phone gets ridiculously hot like I’ve never experienced. Despite this, the deals are awesome, process is efficient and safe with cheap insurance, and I really haven’t bought something that wasn’t as described. They also give you the option to check out the product in-store before bidding anyway so I can’t really complain the day I do get a faulty product. Descriptions/photos could def use some work. Business: 4.5/5. App: 2/5.

Always Something
When I started using the app back in 2021 the app wasn’t great but it worked well enough to find what you wanted and place bids without much of an issue. Since then, it seems like the app gets worse upon each update. To name a few, I’ve had issues with the app freezing, the screen just going blank while scrolling, and currently while scrolling the app randomly sends me back to the top of the screen/beginning of the search. Not sure if these are difficult/expensive issues to fix but it seems like many people are experiencing the same things and it’s negatively affecting the customer experience.

Love MacBids!
I read other reviews but overall the negatives expressed have not been my experience. I’ve gotten some unbelievable deals. If you read and understand their rules and do your research you will most likely be happy with your purchase. I’ve picked up items at 5 different warehouses and the employees have always been great. For the sheer volume of merchandise they handle every day, I think they are very organized. MacBids is the first place I check when I am looking for something.

Going downhill
Have been using the app/service for about a year. Agree with others that they seem to be getting too big too fast. The app is slow, and during peek times often doesn’t even load. Bidding on the app is laggy and slow. The website is marginally better. As far as the product themselves, more often than not the descriptions are terrible. The pictures look like they were taken with a potato. They will list items as open box, when clearly there is damage. There is a damaged tag they seldom use. Then they will blame you for not inspecting the item. They will take items that have been returned by another buyer after realizing it is damaged or not working and re-list again just as “open box”. Sure, you can buy insurance on an item. but you don’t get that money back if you return it, which is why they re-list items. They’ll get hundreds of dollars of “insurance” on an item, eventually someone will buy it without insurance and then they’re stuck with it.

Terrible app
Constantly lagging. Now I run into an issue where the watchlist on my phone app refreshes when auction starts and until it ends. I cannot bid on anything or scroll through watchlist without it automatically refreshing on its own. The only way for it to work, is if I browse through the website and not through the phone app. In terms of product quality, items that are listed new are often in used condition and/or missing parts, or not as describe. This applies to items without “condition label”. Mac Bid continues to increase fees, product quality continues to diminish, poor handling of products; especially with appliance and furnitures. I’ve seen numerous sofas without box that are damage and heavily stained.
