Great styles
Love Madewell clothing & styles. Fit and size is inconsistent with a size 00 sometimes being HUGE and other times way too tight. The app is nice. The return policy stinks since the 30 days starts from order date regardless of time it takes to deliver, then to send back, it has to be received and processed by Madewell, but we have no control after we drop it off with USPS and there is no indication of how long it will take Madewell to process the return. How much time should we allow to return by mail???

Bugs, bugs, bugs.
I’ve been wondering how long it would take madewell to put out a app, I’m actually shocked it’s taken this long. I was hoping that if they had an App that it wouldn’t be as glitchy/buggy to use as their online shop has been for years but here we are. It keeps asking me if I want to log into my account even though I’m already logged in. It seems to lead me to “blank pages” a lot. In account info, it let me edit everything but my birthday, which for some reason was showing blank, I thought I had filled this out ages ago online, but every time I try to tap the box, I’m given no cursor or keyboard. It was lagging and getting frozen trying to enter my location. Navigating around the “store” has been slow and glitchy. Every time I try to filter searches it leads me to a page that shows me the number of items that should be in my filter search but otherwise a blank page. Back under account, when I tried to take a look at what payment info I had listed, it would again take me to a broken page. My iPhone is pretty new, I’m only one update behind the current (just got a notification to update in the last 72 hours) I always restart my phone after a new App instal🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll list anymore bugs I find if I can muster the Focus to keep trudging through this app.

App experience not seamless
My experience with Madewell’s website was always hit or miss, sometimes it could be a little slow updating the items in my cart. So I was excited when Madewell released an app, and I’ve used it several times now. I know it’s still relatively new for Madewell, but it could use some improvement. 1. Information between the app and the website is not synchronous. I added and removed certain items in my cart on the app, then went to the website and found that old items were still listed in the cart. Oddly, doing this caused the old items to reappear in the cart when I returned to the app. 2. For some reason my rewards as a Madewell Insider don’t appear in the app. At least, I couldn’t find them. On the website, it says that my Insider rewards will appear at checkout. They do not appear at checkout in the app. I don’t know if this is intentional but I think that if I have rewards, I should be able to easily locate and apply them on either the app or the website.

Useless
First off let me say I am glad that you have an app but if you’re gonna have a app it needs to be functional. Here are the things that I dislike about this app. 1. when you go into your account and try to look at your orders it sends you out of the app to the main website where you have to login. Now does that really make sense? The whole reason you have an app is it’s so you can do all this on the app or am I wrong? 2. I have things put in my favorites and after I buy them I take them off my favorites or if I’m dis interested in the item . But this app does not let you unlike the items . It will unlike a few of the favorites but most of my favorites that need to be taken off are still there and will not come off. very frustrating ! 3. Your app is not user-friendly. I did the latest update and honestly I don’t know what it updated. So with that being said I will remove my app from my phone .

Frustrating app, known issues not acknowledged by Madewell
The first time I downloaded the app it would never recognize my account login, so I stopped using it. I tried again recently to take advantage of an app-specific promo, and after placing an order and paying with Apple Pay, my order never went through… even though the order amount was immediately deducted as an authorized payment to my Apple Pay method. In chatting with Madewell customer service, they acknowledged this sometimes happens when using Apple Pay or PayPal, and said I’d need to place the order again and that the authorized amount for the failed order would fall off in 3-4 days. This is frustrating, especially considering this is a known issue… not sure why they continue to promote Apple Pay and PayPal as payment methods then… also, one of the items I ordered is now no longer available, so that’s frustrating as well. Not the customer service I’m used to with Madewell.

Useless
I completely agree with previous reviews, I find this app very frustrating and difficult to navigate. The app offers limited search options/selection, does not provide promotional sale banners, and constantly logs you out. I’ve checked back several times hoping the issues would be resolved but it’s lack of functionality appears to be the same. You’re better off shopping the website. But even the website has its flaws. My online cart is constantly full of items I’ve previously purchased, checking out takes forever as I have to delete every item individually. The website constantly logs me out during shopping session as well. Very frustrating to complete a purchase, takes way longer than it should. It’s pretty laughable JCrew/Madewell can’t manage to provide decent tech. I wish it was a smooth app shopping experience comparable to Anthropologie or Free People.

This App is NOT functional
Why are you offering discounts for using the app when it is not functional?!? First, the app doesn’t recognize me as a Star insider so I don’t see my rewards and discounts right away. Most importantly, had 7 items in my cart but removed 2 items that I decided not to purchase. I get all the way to paying, entered the card, hit pay approval and the screen goes blank and then back to the shopping page and my cart is empty! The order never processed and now my items aren’t even in the cart any longer. When I go to the website to double check that my order didn’t process, the cart on the website has only the 2 items that I had previously removed and every else is gone. There definitely some bugs that need to be addressed and fixed before you start offering discounts to use this app!

Great app… but needs Facebook login
The user experience of the Madewell app is by far so much better than the mobile website. However, I can’t log into my account because long ago, I made my account through Facebook log in. I cannot use the Facebook login option on the app, so I can’t use my account on the app. I can’t forfeit all my earnings (which has happened and nothing can be done about it :/ ) by purchasing on the app. I need Facebook login. For now, I shop via the app, decide what I want, and then I purchase on safari or on my laptop. I know this is dramatic, but I hope this can be changed. It is a good app. It works well and I’m sure for other people who weren’t lazy using Facebook, it is wonderful. But I would maybe shop more if it were more convenient 🤷🏼‍♀️

Needs improvement
I am a long time Madewell customer and was extremely excited about this app. A couple of flaws were noticeable right away from a user experience standpoint. The app logs you out so anything that you add to your cart is no longer there for some reason. You can log into your account and then it will immediately log you out. Different areas of the clothing categories don’t mirror what’s on the browser website, for example, the sale section or most any section doesn’t have a “view all” option. You actually miss a lot of product by using the app versus using the browser. Lastly Madewell‘s website is very good about displaying a banner concerning promotions and sales and the app doesn’t even take that into account. So far I feel more comfortable using the browser and not the app. I use an Apple phone.

Slowest app ever
I love Madewell and the app won’t stop me from buying from them thankfully, but this is the absolute slowest app I’ve ever used (even counting when I used an iPod touch..) it doesn’t load. If you click on an item and want to go back, you might as well just put the phone down and make a cup of coffee before coming back. If you want to see anything important to your account, it’ll just make you go online to their website, which is honestly just as slow. Not sure if they’re trying to save money or what, but it’s ridiculous. Especially when their jeans are $130 a pop and a shirt will run you around of $80. Let’s get it together. Just to clarify, the app itself isn’t horribly set up. Other than not being able to actually see your orders and being rerouted to their website, in general, it’s a solid design but just extremely slow.

Love Madewell Clothes… not so much the app
I love Madewell clothes but the app is so glitchy it’s almost unusable. It took me almost an hour to place an order as there are so many bugs. Also, you can only have 12 items saved for later which is odd. Another big issue is when you remove items from your favorites it scrolls back up to the top, so you’ll have to scroll down every single time you want to view or remove favorited items. I cleaned up my favorites after my most recent order and it took ten minutes just to unfavorite a few due to non responsiveness, loading taking forever (I had no internet issues, it was just the app), and having to scroll down from the top each time. I hope that the developers read these and are able to make some enhancements.

Shopping experience dampened by faulty filter
I love Madewell clothing but don’t have a store location nearby so I use the app. I cannot effectively filter for my size and a selected price range. It’s frustrating, especially it offers me petite sizes in my non-petite sizes filter selection or a $99 item for n my $19-$48 filter selection. It requires me spending SO MUCH time looking through styles I don’t really want. It also repeats items as I load more or it just stops loading more. When this happens, there is just a blank page and when I arrow back and try to start the search again, it still retains the blank page. Stop torturing me Madewell!!! I have a birthday treat to use and I feel blocked by a faulty shopping experience!!

Using App and from website
I am loving purchases and products. But, my last purchase, a dress, I ordered according to size guide…not even close in bust measurements. Not even sure if next size up will fit in bust, it was that tight. Bottom of dress in next size up may be too big. Also, I have commented before, both the website and app continue to be extremely frustrating. I am confident it isn’t user error and have seen other comments on it as well. I hope it is being addressed, taking way too long to order. I will say, when I have called and contacted them, not getting an inseam measurement, waiting on hold again for “support” team, and no answers for that measurement in a pair of women’s pants. However, the customer service persons have been very courteous reading their script. Thank you for listening.

Really frustrating
This app is one of the most frustrating shopping apps. You get emails telling you insiders can get access to early events by using the app but upon going to the app you can’t access your insider status. When you sign into your account it briefly shows your account information and then pops right back out to the sign in screen, never really allowing you access to your account. When trying to shop it’ll show that there are 105 new arrivals and you will see about 20 and you hit the load more button and it will immediately take you to 90 something without showing you the 90 some new items. This app never works properly no matter how often it is updated. I only use the website now and am deleting this so I no longer waste storage space.

Buggy and Unreliable
I’ve tried giving this app so many chances, but the log in and checkout are completely useless and not reliable. There’s been instances where I’ve added 1 item to my cart and it’ll add multiple instead of just 1 quantity. If there is a promotion where you have to log in to view the discount applied in the cart/checkout the discount is never applied - I’ve double checked that I am indeed logged into the app. My expedited shipping option isn’t reflected even though I have Icon tier status. And why do you make us go to the website from the app to log in to view our order history? Defeats the purpose of an app. If you’re going to send me to the website then I’ll just use the website for everything. App is too buggy it’s frustrating. Horrible UX. App not made well - the irony.

Very poor user experience
This app is just not good. Does not recognize when a user is logged in, even after logging in; when searching or even using navigation from homepage, returns blank pages (white) or pages that will not completely load; does not sync with account (purchase was made on desktop, yet cart in app still shows all the items already purchased—no matter how many times I delete them, there they are when opening the app); now the reset password option doesn’t even work, just stalls out after entering email address. UPDATE: Where a few weeks ago, any item added to the cart would magically double in quantity, now Items added to the cart do not even show up in the cart. Come on, Madewell, this is terrible to the point of embarrassing.

Amazing brand horrible app
I looooove Madewell and their clothes but this app is actually inoperable. It never remembers my shopping preference so I always have to deselect women’s and switch it to men’s, which is the least of its issues. Anytime I switch a filter category or switch it from women’s to men there Is a lengthly but reasonable loading time. But the worst thing is when I select a product I am met with a loading screen that simply never loads. I can’t add the item to my cart see details check sizes or even see multiple picture unless it is in the small preview window. This has led to me never using the app until I forget about this issue. I constantly check for updates but even when they come these issues persist. I am honestly shocked this app has such a high rating.

Please fix your app
Compared to most shopping apps which are fairly seamless these days this app needs major work. It takes 10 seconds just to “like” an item and save it, that should happen instantly. Also your wishlist items are not removed when they are out of stock so now I have to sort though hundreds of liked items to find some that are in stock or manually click on each item to remove if it’s sold out. Not to mention the loading time is very long for an app of a company this big. I would rather just turn on my computer to bring up the Madewell website because it’s easier and quicker on there than the app, which is saying something. Please fix your app.

So many bugs
Please put this app back through QA. In one shopping experience I encountered a bunch of errors. 1. Password reset link doesn’t work nor does it display an error. If the user does not have an account, display that error message. 2. Buy button required multiple touches to activate the “pushed” state and actually go to my cart. If your app is slow put a spinning/thinking gif in so the user knows it’s doing something. 3. The checkout process took me 3 tries because it kept erroring out in one area, I’d fix that and then it forgot all my previous inputs. I seriously would have given up if the jacket I have been eyeing for 6+ months wasn’t 25% off. User experience is important. Pay for quality testing.

Bugs and not happy
Excited to try when I see madewell finally has an app. Made my first order. 1st it had issue with my card, I was not able to submit the order. Ok I checked my card info and resubmitted. It submitted but somehow the system submitted the order twice. The qty of each item from my order changed from 1 to 2. Of course my payment is doubled. I always check before I made an order. I swear the qty was one before I made the order. I’m an icon and able to use overnight shipping. They are not to change my order because of the overnight shipping. Only way is to receive the order and return them. I don’t think I will make another order through the app. Not happy at all.

No benefit to using the app over a website
I downloaded the madewell app because I was tired of having to sign into my account on my phone whenever I wanted to check the status of an order. I’m just someone who can’t remember passwords to save my life and was trying to work around that. The app doesn’t fix that at all - whenever you like “my orders” in the app it just takes you right to safari anyway to make you sign in again. I’m thinking the only point of the app is so it can give you notifications to entice you to spend more money. Another issue I have is that the app absolutely refuses to let me save my sizes for more than one clothing category (ie., tops, pants, etc) at a time.

Placing orders through app NEVER works
In the couple years that I have had the Madewell app, I don’t think I have ever been successful placing an order through it. The last few times I have tried to order something, I will get all the way through my cart, put my payment and shipping info, and even get a confirmation at the end saying my order was placed. But then a few days later when I go back to check on my order it has completely disappeared and I always realize I never got an actual confirmation email. No record that I placed and order at all (but the rewards I used are always conveniently gone). Their website is always awful too. Basically you need to shop in store or not at all.

Madewell App
Hi there, I am a long time Madewell customer and tech enthusiast. I love that Madewell has an app, but each time I go to use it there are so many glitches 🙁. From screen freezing, to issues with content loading when scrolling, to inaccurate bag items, to the inability to use Apple Pay, it is never an easy experience with the app. I realize there are a lot of moving pieces when designing and updating an app, but hope the team takes some of this feedback to address the issues because it would be great to simply hop on and use the app and not always have to use my computer or we browser on my phone. Thanks for everything you do!

Super Disappointed
I very rarely take the time to write reviews, but things need to be said about this app. I LOVE Madewell—hands down my favorite place to shop for clothes, but I am very disappointed with the app. On two separate occasions I have made purchases—and have been charged—for orders that never went through. I followed the prompt all the way to “your order is complete,”but never received a confirmation email. I contacted customer service and they were unable to locate my order although I was charged. I understand it happening once, but twice? There is a major disconnect between purchases through the app and linked accounts. I will no longer be using the app for online purchases. Super bummed.

I like it
Madewell consistently delivers the unique items that are authentically me and allows me to express myself as such. The app makes finding goods especially sale items easily. Basic features like the live button allows me to keep track of my faves and keep and eye out on promotions that may lower the cost. However, it’s not always consistent . Often times I am unable to like reviews and or save items for later because the app seems to be frozen. Outside of that, I really like it here.

Pointless App
The whole point of having an app for a shopping website is so that you can have access to your orders, order history and other important information as well as shopping all in one secure location without having to sign in over and over. Every time I try to access my orders or any other important information the app just sends me to the Madewell website in safari. That utterly defeats the purpose of having the app. Please fix this so that everything is in the app like every other shopping app. Look at the Banana Republic app, Nordstrom rack app or other similar apps to improve the Madewell app.

Basically unusable
I’m not sure what it is about this app but it’s close to not even functioning. Most times I click on a product, the page won’t load. I’ve tried clicking back multiple times, waiting, closing the app out, but nothing seems to fix it. I downloaded the app originally because I was having the same problem with the website, but clearly the app doesn’t work either. Additionally, half of the items don’t have the price listed when scrolling through. If I can actually navigate to the product’s page I can see the price but that’s if the app will actually load. Hope this gets fixed soon!

The app never works
Honestly, I don’t typically write reviews but the Madewell app actively prevents users from browsing products and purchasing items. Within this past week I’ve noticed this issue has gotten worse. If I click on an item, the picture and page never load - making it impossible to add any item to my bag to purchase. Filtering by size doesn’t seem to work either. I’ll find an item I like and the page either won’t load for me or it’s completely sold out in my size. I want to spend money on clothes here and it seems Madewell doesn’t want it. I don’t know if I’ll ever purchase online again until this gets fixed.

Dont do it
i was excited for this app, but it is heavily reliant on the website. I’m not certain what the pros are to having an app that will constantly bring you back to the website - which then has an ad to use the app that doesn’t support the “my orders” function. After trying to purchase something last night with my rewards, my purchase would not go through on the app. I awoke to check my accounts and email, hoping the pants (that one had one pair left!) were ordered - but no emails, no charges, an empty shopping cart/bag, However, my rewards are gone. Uninstalling.

App very buggy but could be great
I am a longtime good customer of Madewell, in store and online. This app could be great, but it has been consistently buggy over the last several year I’ve used it. It often glitches, freezes, and quits itself. Whenever I try to heart/favorite an item, it spins the wheel forever and isn’t able to add it. I can’t view my list of favorites here either. The categories aren’t properly available in list form either. It could be a nice way to scroll all the items in one place but it’s just not reliable or worth all the headaches. :(

App hinders shopping experience
I absolutely love madewell and have been shopping there for over two years. I’m often very impressed with the quality and style of the items. But, the app is absolutely useless. I’ve downloaded it about three times in the past two years and deleted it and just ordered from my phones browser instead. Slow load time, slow filtering options, and a glitch that make me constantly re-log into my account make it unusable. Don’t download this app until they update. Order from your browser or a storefront instead.

Such a bad tech product
I really love madewell as a brand, but your digital experience both web and app makes it so hard to shop, that I actually avoid it. Filters that are cleared once I scroll down, constant issues logging in to my account (meaning I log in and can view my account dashboard for 1 or 2 seconds, then somehow and kicked back out again). The app constantly crashes. I’ve had SO many issues having rewards and coupons applied where I’ve had to had the price adjusted after the fact by a customer service associate. Please fix this app. I want to shop here more, but it’s just so frustrating.

Needs Facebook login option
I told Madewell this when the app came out and still having the issue. My login is through Facebook- I have many points and high status through that account. I can’t order through the app because I can’t login through Facebook. This is a shame because even after madewells website revamp, they somehow made it worse. I frequently can’t add things to cart, things disappear, my cart glitches, etc. I can’t tell you how many purchases I would have made had they fixed both these experiences. Advice? Invest in your engineering team. They’re either overworked or underpaid.

Bad UX
For a multimillion dollar company I would hope that their app would actually work. When I go to check on orders, it takes me out of the app, then the log in screen is so buggy that I give up. It will either say that I already have an account under that email so don’t make a new one (I’m literally trying to sign in) or it won’t go at all. It takes forever for the cart to update and sometimes I don’t think it adds what I click to add into it. I love madewell but I’m over the app. Have your ux team work with better developers.

I’m trying to give you my money but this app is the worst shopping experience
Title says it all. This app is horrendous for shopping- when you click on an item to view it’s details it only loads maybe 30% of the time. When you want to review your past orders or other account details it sends you to their mobile website rather than keeping you in the app, too. I would love to browse and shop on this app, but waiting for (or not being able to get) items to load takes away from the experience and also makes it so I give up and stop shopping altogether.

Great app, until…
I was so happy with the Madewell app until the day that the ability to read reviews went away. The stars are there, but click on the link to read reviews, and nothing! I know that the reviews exist because I can read them when I go to the website. If I have to switch back and fourth anyway, what’s the point of the app. It’s been this way for at least a month, and although I’m holding out hope that with each new update that this will get fixed, I’ll probably end-up deleting.

Do not use
This is the worst shopping app I’ve ever used. Takes forever to refresh, crashes frequently, and no intuitive way to update billing information in the app. I would bet that they lose business because of how poorly this app performs. On several occasions I have had to “wait to buy” until I had access to a computer because it simply does not function. You would think that a brand that charges $138 for a pair of pants would be able to hire a strong tech team to match the app functionality to the “high end” branding of their product

Double order
I went in to place an order, edited payment and before I clicked place order, I saw my total was double the original total. Looking at the cart, everything was doubled. When I fixed that, and double checked everything again, my cart was loaded with things I had previously deleted. Then I placed the order and saw that my shipment delivery was divided between what I entered and two stores. Now I am on phone on hold with customer service to fix it. I should have just ordered through the website instead of this app. Complete waste of time that I cannot get back.

Not Made Well
Unfortunately, the app is a huge miss. Twice I’ve attempted to place orders through only to run into problems with shipping addresses, payments, items in my cart, etc. Both times I weathered the bugs and finally was able to place my order (even received the onscreen confirmation) only to find the items still in my cart and no pending order in my history. Both times I had to go to website and “repurchase” my order. So as the saying goes, “fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” The app has been deleted - I’ll stick to the website.

Great clothes, awful app
Browsing is a breeze, as long as you never plan on buying anything. I have full service and my home Wi-Fi hooked up, yet this app can’t load almost any individual items pages and if there are more than one color for the item, forget it! It’s been like this for a long time, and I keep hoping an update will come and fix it but alas, it doesn’t. Also, why do I have to load an external page to view my orders?? If I’m signed in in the app, it should be in the app directly. Other websites have had that level of integration for at least half a decade now.

Love Madewell but really dislike this app
I am a loyal Madewell shopper and shop here fairly regularly. I like to use the app to browse styles if I’m away from my computer but it is so glitchy and unpleasant to use. Like other reviewers said, images fail to load and it freezes all the time. I am not sure why I even bother opening the app anymore. There are so many other store shopping apps out there that work seamlessly. Please fix yours! Also, it would be great to be able to see/use the TrueFit feature through the app like on the site.

Not great
Wish this app was more seamless. When you check your orders it moves you out of the app to a web browser. When you go to the web it says “get the madewell app”. Tracking orders is a pain when because you expand you’re still scrolling to find details. Also, more than once I completed an order through the app and it never went through even though my bag was empty and it said thank you. Madewell you need to clean this up! This alone would make me not want to shop with you.

Do Not Use
You are much better off using the website. I have place two orders now through the app and used a reward on these purchases and then when I went back to check on the orders progress, they magically don’t exist but my reward has been used. Thankfully, my card has never been charged, but it just WASTES my reward. Madewell usually fixes it for me - which is great - but it’s still annoying considering how popular the brand it. Like why have an app at all if it’s not going to make the ordering experience better for your customers??

Too Slow
This app is incredibly frustrating to use. I primarily shop on my phone & this app is the slowest clothing app I have — by far. I get so frustrated by how slow it is loading that I will just give up entirely. I’ll just decide to not look at Madewell and look at another clothing app. I rarely go to the mall but the mall is so much better because I can actually see inventory rather than an app that crashes every time I use it. I really don’t understand how an app in 2023 can be this slow. Or that this company doesn’t realize this is hurting them financially.

Where are the favorites???
I downloaded the app for the first time this weekend and spent a ton of time looking through a bunch of different categories, favoriting MANY items so I could go back and compare and narrow down what to buy. Now that I want to view the favorites, I can’t find them anywhere in the app! I see absolutely no place, no way to view them. I mean, seriously, Madewell? I wasted all that time clicking on stuff I now have to find in each category if I want to see them again? That’s a big NOPE.

Glitchy
I love the ease of using apps to shop. However this app almost makes it more challenging. It never keeps me logged in. I am constantly having to login and you cannot see your previous orders within the app. It opens up a webpage in your internet app. Why bother using the app if it just opens up the web browser. Sometimes when shopping it also freezes and reloads the same items again. This app definitely needs some updates and bug fixes.

Weird interface
Sometimes the app works great and even without moving location, I get these errors messages that says no internet and then upon clicking ok, the app closes and it almost always happen when I’m about to click for more photos/details of an item or about to add the item to my cart. When starting the app over, I then have to go through the app to search for the items again which is so very annoying. What of waist of time.

No Facebook login option
I created my Madewell account back when Facebook login was a thing and now I’m unable to use the App. Either add the option to login with Facebook or give users the option to create a new account and transfer all their points and purchases. Creating a new account a losing my status and order history is not an option. I’m also not interested in having two accounts just so I can use the App.

slow
The app is a miss. It’s not bad, but not great. Some items either take forever to load or won’t load at all. It keeps adding deleted items to my cart over and over. Very frustrating!! Doesn’t show the sizes I had ordered on my account, so if I’d like to re-order it, I have no clue what size I purchased. Please improve the speed!! Also several months later, the colors don’t show when you click on them. Please we need an update!
