Old app was better
The new Mariano’s app, which appears to be a Kroger production, lacks a lot for the serious shopper. 1. Items sold by weight are ordered by the pound (no fractions) or in seemingly arbitrary units (1/3 lb. for fresh ginger, but about 2/3 lb. for broccoli crowns). When checking out, you can supposedly specify the amount you need as a note, but there’s no guarantee you’ll get it. 2. There is no way to specify acceptable item substitutions. Oh, you can make a note, but it will be ignored, and you will get an e-mail which either offers you the wrong substitution, or, most frustrating, none at all, despite your having specifically said what would suffice. 3. Many items available in store (e.g., butcher case sausages) are not available on this app. Before this update, you could specify substitutions, and the shopper would actually call you on the phone to discuss them. Items which did not show up on the app could be special ordered, and complex instructions (e.g.: “On soups, substitute only from among the flavors I’ve ordered, but make sure I don’t end up with mire than two if any given variety.”) could be given. Mariano’s is a high-touch, gourmet grocery store, but its app treats me like I’m shopping a Kroger in Anytown, USA.

Missing functionality website offers and incorrect pricing
I agree with other reviewers that the App keeps getting worse!!! Can’t even add to list by clicking on weekly ad. App shows lower pricing than on shelf and what comes up at register. Unsure how this happens when registers and app should be consulting same price database When sorting through coupons, I should be able to limit to new coupons or coupons from last seven days while also sorting by value. This is functionality offered by Mariano’s website. To echo another reviewer’s comments, please don’t treat Mariano’s like a Kroger but with a established regional name. Safeway did that with Dominick’s and they went bust. Old app was better. Also when sorting by value, if I have to buy a multiple of items to use the coupon, the coupon’s value should be divided by the number of items I need to buy. Finally, when going into coupons, it should not take 10-15 seconds to load. Also, if I added something to the list from sale flier and the sale is over, how about taking it off the list (or showing the current price of the item and sale price if on sale). Can’t even search sale items, just coupons and those items that made the weekly ad.

App got much worse
During lockdown, I started using this app. It wasn't perfect but it worked, so I relied on it for all my curbside pickups. But the latest version took away everything that worked before, and replaced it with a more confusing interface that doesn't work. After the first use, my order was completely messed up. 1. I turned down substitutions that they texted to ask and they made the substitutions anyway. 2. They mischarged me for things. 3. They didn't keep my history so I could quickly select things I've bought before and save my product notes. 4. They didn't have a place for me to leave notes on the app such as "greenish bananas". So, I had to use the website anyway after using the app. 5. they didn't read the notes from the website either anyway and just delivered the wrong things. 6. They didn't call to clarify things that were out of stock so just gave me tag e wrong stuff and charged me. Now I have to go back to the store just to fix it all. Then, I have to find another place for my groceries in the future.

Terrible. Kroger has ruined marianos.
I am a loyal marianos shopper and love shopping here. I loved Click List. However, they spent four months creating this new app and it is terrible. It will not let me shop at my own store in my town it makes me choose a different one every time. It also never connected my old account to my new account so I had to set it up with a different email address brand new. I’ve been using Walmarts delivery app for the last four months hoping and waiting for this one to come back. Now that it has I can’t use it. I am so disappointed. I tried calling for help and the store is unable to help me and the main customer service line the person doesn’t speak English and doesn’t understand what I’m asking. Truly disappointed.

Kroger ruined the Mariano's experience
Unfortunately, Kroger put a shiny new look on a far worse shopping experience to replace the Mariano's app. Now, we've lost the ability to order less than a pound of something. We've lost the ability to monitor the item-by-item progress of the Instacart shopper. Want to see what replacement the shopper made? Too bad, you'll have to wait till its delivered to find out the surprise of how bad it was. Items are suddenly no longer available even though you can find them in-store. Also, even things that are listed as available will simply be left behind in your cart at checkout for no reason at all.

Digital Coupons Don’t Work
Walking around the store and seeing the “Lip a digital coupon” is the most annoying thing because I know it will only work 50% of the time. The process to get my phone out, find the app, sometimes having to re-log in, find the item, THEN clip it and when you hit the button it only actually clips about half the time. It’s an awful system with a very annoying to use app. At some point it’s not even about the quality of the app, it’s that the digital coupons shouldn’t exist as a feature at all! Keep the app for getting delivery or pickup. Don’t have exclusive deals on there because that just makes me hate Mariano’s and not bother buying the item at all because my time is worth more than the 50¢ I save on some item I didn’t need in the first place but was gonna buy because it’s on sale. If you’re going to have digital coupons and an app, it has to work or don’t even bother.

I FREAKIN LOVE LOVE THIS STORE
I NEVER write reviews, but this company is worth it a million times over. The convenience of this app and the pick-up option saves me money and time. When you go to the store and your kids want everything they see it’s like “oh gosh.” The savings is freakin AMAZING. I’m new to shopping with them as well. I had the idea they were expensive, and I couldn’t afford it, so not true. I give them a million stars!!!!

Worse than Horrible
The app was great back in the day before you started the update. You have gone from great to impossible to use. I have contacted corporate multiple times which includes being on hold for an hour or more at a time. Delete the app, reload, establish a new account. Right!!! Does not work! Have done it a dozen times!!! Seems to know who I am because my email and cell # come up. Have tried changing my password!! Have jumped through every hoop suggested more than once! I have called my local store. They are nice and try but it is to no avail! It is sad and infuriating! Had shopped at Mariano’s some before Covid, but became a huge fan during Covid. Came to like what you offered,the service and the prices. Spent a lot with our local Mariano’s for several months. Would like to now, but your app is preventing me from doing so. Just keep seeing ACCESS DENIED!

In need of improvement
This app is lacking functionality. Some suggested/needed improvements would include the ability to allow another person to add to a cart. Currently the share cart function sends a text description of cart items to the recipient but offers no way for them to contribute to the cart. Picking up should be easier, typically when returning to the app to pickup groceries it is not obvious where to navigate to do so (I think it is buried in past purchases). There is also no ability to notify the store in app that you are there for pickup if the store notified you that the items are available prior to the set pick up window ie if my pickup window is 5 - 6 pm but I get a notification from the store at 3:50 that the items are ready for pick up the app doesn’t allow for pick up at 4. If a shopper sets the cart to not allow for substitutes that preference does not remain when subsequent items are added to the cart. Thus one has to keep toggling the do not allow for substitutions every time a new item is added. It takes too many steps to complete the order. This app is simply behind in its development. It works but it is not great.

Quality of Website
Worst on line site I have used. Very difficult to place an order and use any coupons (such as extra fuel points) or discount of $15 with minimum of $75 on a pick up order. When you try to use coupons, it refers you back to the “all coupon” page which had 493 viable coupons. It seems the “newer” version of this ap is worse than the previous ap. As you can see, my purchase this week is less than my usual purchase. I’m not sure I plan to continue shopping at Mariano’s. Friends and family have already stopped shopping at Mariano’s - it was the topic of our Thanksgiving meal, as to who still shopped at Mariano’s. Ironically, you also still send paper coupons and they make check out lengthier at the curbside. Couldn’t those “paper coupons” be sent to my electronic account and applied when I order?

Dear Marianos, Thank you for your quick reply. Per your directions, I deleted and reinstalled the App. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Not sure if it’s just me but I have a difficult time navigating and adding the digital sales items to my list. I have on two occasions thought I added sale items to my list only to find out at checkout, the sales price wasn’t applied. To compound the matter, the young Marianos associate who assisted me made me feel like a techno idiot when he helped. The Jewel app I use is so much simpler and a brighter site to view. Nevertheless, thank you for getting back. Youraverageconsumer.

I’m an 86 woman, and I probably speak for a lot of older people.
You cut out people especially older people from taking advantage of items on sale only if you have an I phone. And having to buy more items than you need . Especially for single older people who are on a budget. Food price are high and older people can’t afford to buy more than they need! your prices are higher than other stores expensive ! This area Evergreen Park has a lot of grocery stores. I read all the ads and shop according to what’s on sale.

No support. Sale transition?
I have been having an issue using my credit card since June 25th. I can’t check out for an online pick up via THIS APP. I can’t check out online via the webpage. I went to the store and my credit card was refused. I called my credit card company. They don’t even see any attempted charges from Mariano’s. I call Mariano’s. No resolution. I sent a form via the app. I got a response five days later from Kroger that asked me to tell them what the issue is. I did. I have sent four follow up emails because it’s been 16 days that I can not use my preferred method of payment at Mariano’s when checking out online, in the app or in store. I can only assume that the lack of assistance is because the parent company is selling off Mariano’s and just doesn’t care anymore. Bye bye Mariano’s. I deleted the app. I haven’t visited the store. I won’t shop at the store until I receive a resolution and am able to use my preferred method of payment at your store.

Old app was so much better
On the old app, your shopping cart would be grouped into categories like produce, drinks, etc so you could look at what you’re getting and get an idea of what areas you’re low on. The old app had purchase history where it would show you (again grouped into categories) everything you bought in the last month, 3 months, 6 months. Made it so easy for a mom with young kids to easily find that snack her kids liked without having to remember the exact date she bought it. Please bring back these features!!!!!!!!!

Very convenient!
This app is phenomenal! I’m so happy Mariano’s did a major overhaul and created this new app! You can view the sales ad, clip coupons, and place your order all in one app! It’s easy to look for product and add to your cart. It shows coupons and items that can use that coupon. I just place my first order and no complaints here!

Update 59.0.1 didn’t fix the list layout issue
I’ve been using Mariano’s app for about two years now and was pretty happy with it. Although it’s buggy from time to time, each update usually fixed it. Not this time. The recent bug has been more problematic and the last update 59.0.1 didn’t fix it. The issue is the List section. I used to be able to see each item with a picture, its price and applicable coupon/discount info all at once on my list. Now, you can only see text and everything is collapsed. When clicked on ‘expand all’, it only expands the first item listed. I’d have to manually open each item to see all info otherwise, which is too tedious. My guess is that the ad banner at the top is somehow invading the list’s header behind the scene, so the tiles and expand all options are not fully accessible. You’re preventing me from accessing my grocery list which I rely on every day. Please fix this ASAP!

Waste of time
I’m a busy mum. Work full time. Manage a household. Various other stressors in my life, as most people have. I don’t recommend this app for people also busy and have little spare time. Multiple times, this app has crashed and I’ve lost all I’ve added to cart. I’ve been in touch with customer service, and there’s nothing they can do. Re-installed the app a few times. Shopping cart does not carry over onto the webpage version, either. I’ve permanently deleted it and moving to another grocery store. This is not user friendly. Time to improve, Marianos.

Old app was better
The old app was a lot more user friendly. This one is rather confusing to get going on between delivery, pick up, and what seems like just creating a shopping list. This app does not seem have as many options from the deli. I used to buy a certain type of ham on the old app and this one doesn’t have it at all. I had been shopping from other stores the last month due to this app being different.

Broken Functionality. Only Use for coupons
I have never felt so frustrated by an app. There's a (grocery) list of functions that do not work either not registering button presses or refusing to save changes. It does not allow me to change the location I am shopping at. I even tried standing in the store nearest me connected to their wifi and it still won’t register. When I try to add an address, it does not let you click the drop down to change state UNLESS I change the state first and then enter the address. Attempting to order ahead always gives me “Error. An unknown error occurred” The only thing thats worked for me is clipping coupons and then using my phone number in store to redeem them. If you need a way to find coupons on the go, this app is useful. Otherwise stick to the website for all other functionality.

Easy and convenient
I was always skeptical with the order and pick up process. Haven’t had an issue with anything. If somethings out I get a notification to either substitute or cx. Plus I pull up , text I’m there and which parking spot and groceries are brought to my car! So easy and convenient.

Why do I need to hunt for coupons?
If I have already enrolled with Mariano’s, why do I need to spend time searching online for coupons? Just make these items sale priced for customers already enrolled with Mariano’s. App has too many places to search for savings and I waste time searching for a digital coupon that I already clipped but forgot about. Wasting my and other customers’ time DOES NOT make us like Mariano’s more.

Terrible UI, Hinders Shoppers
Apps like these are designed to harvest data from their customers. Certain items are not in the app though advertised as on sale in store. I was berated by a cashier that refused to sell me an item for the sale price because it wasn't in the app. I showed them a picture of the sale price advertised in the store and they said Mariano's removes random items from the app, and there was nothing they could do about it. Adds unnecessary barriers for customers to purchase already-inflated items, useless app.

TERRIBLE
1. Not organized by departments (makes it difficult to find items quickly) 2. Very easy to put things in cart, not realizing you may have put it into cart through delivery or ship. Then you don’t end up with them in pick-up, and it’s impossible to figure out why. 3. Not receiving notifications of our-of-stocks, so unwanted substitutions are made, without approval. 4. If item is tagged as having a coupon, difficult to tell if it’s automatically applied or has to be “clipped” and applied. 6. Too difficult to see purchase history. 5. Employees seem to be just as confused. Generally, not efficient, user friendly, or organized. Took so long to get the app up and running, and now I dread going in and using it. Yet, the pick-up option is necessary for my family. I hope this is addressed QUICKLY!

Fix the app…Stop signing me out
Please do not tell me to call some number for eternal hold. Please fix the issues people are frustrated with. I can’t even sign in or reset my password on my new iPad, but I can on a 7 year Samsung G7!? Please stop signing me out. I have settled the app and reinstalled on my iPad, and I can’t get back in. Please don’t tell me eternal hold with customer service. Please fix the app. I can get in on my Samsung Galaxy 7 phone, but not a new iPad…sigh.

This app is the worst.
Ordering through this app has never been a smooth process. Something always goes wrong and it is incredibly frustrating. I’m not even sure why I bother. -logs itself out frequently during a single order session -sometimes tells you to disable my pop up blocker to continue…this is a cell phone app -doesn’t allow you to update your CC -flip flops you between opening a web page and the app

Sort by department
1) The previous app sorted the cart and previous orders by department. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring this feature back. I miss so many items because they’re in my cart chronologically and waste time reviewing. 2) Also, when approving substitutions, it would be nice to change the quantity of the recommended substitute. 3) The feature to let the store know when I’m on my way does save time. Thank you.

Horrible UI
Fix this atrocious UI! It’s like you tried to cram every department and every food item on one screen. What’s the rationale, let’s have them play a game of finding Waldo with food items? Moreover, why do you offer to select a store location near me, but when I go to check out, it tells me there are no stores near you and offering a locations twice the distance from me? Grrr. I’ll just go spend my money someplace else! Pathetic App!

Very confusing
Before this update, pick up orders were so simple. I went through the entire process to place my pickup order and it won’t allow me to checkout. It has taken me longer to mess with this app then if I had just ran to the store. There needs to be guidance or a prompt (quick tutorial) to explain why or what is needed from me. Keep It Simple S…..

Worst app experience ever
If I could give the app -5 I would. I was a loyal Clicklist customer of 4 years and I am pretty tech savvy but when I can’t even add to my previous items (like from the deli) on the new app, even when they appear there in my previous purchases list it is very frustrating. Even when I can’t purchase what I want and I put a note it isn’t always a guarantee. I am also not a fan of the substitution system.

Creates a duplicate App you cannot delete
I downloaded the App no issues. When I went to the next screen on my iPhone I realized the App created a duplicate app that is always in the - mode that you CANNOT delete. I deleted the app on the other screen of my iPhone but the copy will not delete I can’t move it, delete it etc. Tried the chat to talk to App support and it wants all my personal information first. What a nuisance!

Useless for in-store
The new app still is useless for in store shopping. Items should be listed by aisle and in order of the store layout. I like to do my own shopping and select my own produce. If the shopping list isn’t organized by the store layout I’ll continue using a third party app. Take a hint from the Home Depot app. It tells you exactly where to go in the store!

Needs an overhaul
I work in tech; this app needs an overhaul from a team that understands ecom. This app seems like it was built by asking executives who don’t do their own shopping what features they think sound nice. Why on earth would you delete the items in my cart and make me start over? You’d make more sales letting people use the app as a shopping list, esp with boost membership. Can’t even click the weekly ad to buy stuff? Have to separately search in multiple places to see coupons? In my location the delivery itself is great and the shoppers have been good. It’s just the app that’s a crappy experience.

UX is bad- advertising all over
Whoever design the UX has not throughly did research 1. Boxes all over the app 2. So many colors takes attention away, image in white box background, yellow color background for sale price, black color price, white color description, blue add to cart and now add the advertisement with multiple colors

App does not work
I had this app previously and then it went down for service for what seemed like forever. I finally redownloaded it and now it will give me an error for everything! I can’t clip coupons, there is no pick up option near me, I can’t even search for things without getting an error. Needless to say I deleted the app once again and will shop elsewhere!

Worst app ever
The app never works! It says password isn’t correct so I change the password then try to sign in on another device and it says password is incorrect. I have a screenshot of the new password to compare with what I enter so I know it is exactly correct. I have done this repeatedly and can not get it to work right. Never have this issue with Walmart at target or jewel apps

The way you have to clip coupons is annoying. Can you make it into a faster process that automatically goes to the following coupon once clipped? Jewel-Osco has a great couple clipping process. Thanks.

The best or the worst app?
Ordering seemed like it would be easy, but the app kept kicking me back (multiple times) to choosing my store. And even though I had signed in, the app kept kicking me back (multiple times) to signing in. I had to enter my card number multiple times. I wondered why I would be punished for being a Kroger/Mariano’s customer.

App and Website Mess
I am tempted to never shop at Marianos again. While working on your technical issues you should have given up “digital coupons”!!!! I have wasted too much time trying to find digital coupons and keep ending up at “shopping lists”. Nightmare! I had to mark 1 star, but 0 would have been more accurate.

Check boxes
I called technical support just after the new App was released and they indicated that I should be able to use the check boxes in My List to add select items to my cart. Still not working I have to go into each item to add to cart. This is cumbersome in my opinion.

Update is terrible
Updated today and the shopping list functionality is terrible. I am unable to expand the list to include item pics unless I do each one individually because the formatting is wrong. I can’t change a quantity until I uncheck an item and go back into the list to update.

I tried using this but it takes so long to scroll through everything. I much prefer the old method of a savings card. I’m Going to stop shopping at Mariano’s To the developers-the app ‘works’ but it’s so non intuitive and feels like a chore to use. It’s just poorly designed

Not a fan of update
The most recent update confuses me with the cash back, coupons, and deals all splitting; removing the old way at flipping through and circling favorites on weekly ads. Why is Bed, Bath, and Beyond all of a sudden pop up? If I wanted to shop there, I’d download their app.

Nearly Useless
The app doesn’t work. I can’t place an order for pickup with my neighborhood store. It keeps wanting me to pick a store miles and miles and miles away. Can’t change payment info. Can’t do much of anything. Kroger app worked when I lived in Ohio. Mariano’s app is nothing but a steaming husk of stupidity.
