Robot is the bom, hair does not get tangoed in the brush and its quiet and carefulll
Love the robot but its being held back by the app and the lack of self empty, but the later does not factor into the 3 stars its simply the all issues with mapping out rooms - in my case a room is not clear so i want to add lines to separate the spaces but it will not let me - i also cant generate keep outs based on having put down objects to keep it away from a zone so i can ise that to block it i. The app - sorry id does not let you see the objects in the map editing screen - huge miss. Agree with other reviewer that the icons are too small! Again the robot is awesome quiet, good mopping with self cleaning and drying that works, super gentle, but does struggle with low objects that make it sound like its breaking the robot :( and the long hair not tangling is a foundational feature that makes it the only autonomous floor cleaning robot!!! But the app needs work asap, please!
First suggestion - I want to see alerts but the icon is so small and the notification dot minuscule. Trying to tap on it is a chore. Also, the tips keep turning back on causing me to tap on that instead. There is a strange disconnect between going into the app and then having to go into my Freo. It simply doesn’t make sense. Why the extra home page? Starting jobs needs some work. Much time was spent being able to creat rooms, etc., and that shows. The basic functions, however, seem like they were written by a teenager.
We have been unable to add other members of the household to control the Freo, and it’s made harder by the poor translation. Many words across the app are abbreviated in ways and situations that don’t make sense: like “dev” and “mem,” and at times it’s hard to understand that the app is trying to tell you. The action in the Shortcuts app is also in Chinese, so I have no idea what it does. The vacuum also send you notifications each time it completes any task, which is kept in the apps Message Center. ‘Great,’ another feed of notifications and red badge to ignore. Notifications have to dismissed individually, since the “mark all read” button doesn’t work. There are no granular push notification options so you only get notifications after certain types of tasks, or errors. 🙄 The app is well designed, but poorly implemented and poorly translated to English. For being a companion app for a pretty expensive robot vacuum, it needs to be fixed if the company wants me to believe it takes the Freo product seriously.
I got this vacuum after reading and watching several reviews on many remote vacuums. I received it a little over a month ago and wanted to run it before I wrote this review. I have had no issues mapping and then I moved base station and had to remap, was very user friendly, no issues at all. I have mine programmed to vacuum 3x’s a week and mop 2x’s a week. There have been with no issues when using the app to see where and what has been cleaned. I also set it to notify me 10 min before it is to clean in case I forget I need to pick something up. Nothing bad to say about this app, so far so good!!!!
Not sure why but the robot and base station seems to loose network connection on the app. It is on the safe list on my network. The app itself is easy to use but just annoying that you have to go through many steps to create a schedule. Edited: my original review I had network issues, but now Narwal addressed the issues and fix the errors. I bump the review to 4 star. Still lacking on the app because it takes too many steps to create a schedule.
It’s a standard app with the regular scheduling and mapping features; basic stuff. The floor plan feature does a good job of creating the initial plan based on mapping. However it is difficult to split rooms; I have a very open floor plan with minimal separation between rooms or large door ways. App doesn’t allow me to split; complains about going across thresholds. Should allow people to split however they want. Maybe instead of split/merge, allow people to create rooms using boxes similar to no-go zone setup. Also it should show the actual mapping data in the floor plan split/merge view. Lastly, I want to schedule cleaning for zones instead of rooms on different days and times. Doesn’t seem to be a way to do that. Given how expensive the robot is, I’d expect some of these features to be there.
Earlier versions had issues with network connectivity, touch responsiveness, and area creation. I haven’t encountered any of these issues in the recent past, so I’m guessing that they’re fixed. The app is easy to use and pretty intuitive. The only quirk that I randomly encounter is the loss of cleaning option buttons in the room/area selection screen after the app has been open for a while; closing and reopening the app fixes it for me.
Just purchased. Was worried after all the poor reviews about the app. It was VERY simple to setup the robot and the app. It mapped my 3,000 sqft house in about an hour and it was off and running after that. I set up room names, established how I wanted it to clean each room and other various settings to customize how I want it to clean the house. I didn’t experience any issues with setup or cleaning. (So far, all is good).
I am happy with my purchase of the Freo but the app takes some getting used to. Some things that I’d like to see would be: Push Notifications to my phone, a visual representation of the water levels in the app, and a “find robot” feature with some type of alert noise for when it gets stuck somewhere and I can’t find it (like under a bed). Thank you
The robot is great as you all know, but the software is really junky the biggest issue that I see that you cannot create a zone inside of a room, which is a total disappointment as I had it on my # NEATO , which I hated, but 10 years ago this option was present. Please #NARWAL help us all
This is probably one of the worst apps I've tried to use. Took over an hour to get connected and set up for the first time. Second time I've tried to use it, I am getting robot connection errors. The robot is connected just fine on the base. Also, only way I've been able to get the robot to map is from the base. Base talks to me and tells me things, but doesn't relay that to the app, so I have to get up to go see what it said. Really wish I got a different brand so I didn't have to try to fuss with this useless app.
For a time after purchase, this mop would successfully communicate with our home’s router — like every other device in our home. But no more. No amount of troubleshooting works. If you like a challenge that will involve quite literally hours and hours of frustration with no apparent chance of success, then this product may be for you. If, on the other hand, you expect an expensive tech product to “just work” you may want to look elsewhere.
I love my Narwal robot ❤️. Was so easy to map out my home in three areas. It picked up furniture and rugs in each area. I love being able to program my living, kitchen and two halls on a weekly scheduled day and time to vacuum then mop. I also have two other areas mapped to cover entire house being cleaned, these two, I just click on area to clean as needed. The charge is held great to complete each area and can do more than one. I also can set the area rug in living area to have more vacuum power. I’ve had two others and love this one.
I don't why the ratings are bad, but i have not faced any issues at all with the app. The robot maps the apartment very well and you can add a lot of details on the map from the application.
The app does not allow easy editing to map your home… The robot will auto map your home, but it truly needs to be tweaked. Would really help if rooms could be added, deleted since the auto robot mapping skills don’t reflect the actual layout of your home.
Loving the idea of mop and vacuum robot but it always has connection errors and robot is always offline. I’d like this fixed soon before we return our product.
I love my Narwal Freo I have no issues with it and no issues with it connecting to the basestation for my Wi-Fi. It works great wonderful with kids. I have it scheduled to run at night just pick up the big stuff and let it go.
In particular the app really needs to provide push notifications for all errors encountered by the robot. The app is already capable of push notifications- it can notify of job completion. The app also already get information about robot errors during jobs.
The app looses network connect and fails to obtain data regularly; it’s VERY annoying and makes using the VERY expensive vacuum impossible to use! Please fix this!
It’s very frustrating there isn’t a way to easily switch between floor maps. It advertises that it supports 4 floors but it’s difficult to switch between different floors and you lose the ability to clean by rooms. Very disappointed with the app!
I’ve spent hours trying to set no-go zones. Just when I think it is set it will disappear or I hit the green check and it disappears and even worse I hit the green check and it says it is saved - and then it disappears! Please fix this!
When I had issues with the app showing progress that the vacuum wasn’t physically reaching, I reached out to customer support after reviewing everything online and trouble shooting. I mentioned all the trouble shooting I tried prior to reaching out, CS was of no help and relied to me stating to try the trouble shooting methods and it should work, at that point it was clear they barely read the message and didn’t want to/didn’t know how to help. The problem finally resolved itself a few days later. I’ve noticed I had other issues, one that would be an easy fix is when I get a notification stating the vacuum encountered an issue and can’t complete the task. The app sends a small message, but doesn’t state the issue. Whether it be stuck somewhere, has something caught in it, out of water, etc. A notification that states the issue would be great vs. having to log into app and play detective to find out what’s wrong. I also have carpets that are sometimes in the room and sometimes not depending on if we’re having company or if it’s rainy out. The app/vacuum will automatically clean that room like there’s a carpet there, even though there’s not? Then it will go about mopping the rest of the area or house and not mop the floor it missed. It detected bare floor there originally, and once I put a rug down it detected it and didn’t mop the carpet, so why can’t it detect that it’s no longer there now? Or if I have something in the hallway for a few days, it won’t mop/vacuum there going forward after the item has been moved? Truly tired of resetting/remapping my house and I do feel these are programming issues that could easily be fixed. The generic responses I’ve received from CS shows they are of no help which is truly frustrating.
Everything was working perfectly. Randomly stopped working all together. Very aggravating. Cannot get the app to load the map or my home screen. Reset the vacuum itself, unplugged base station, deleted and redownloaded app. Nothing is working.
App keeps saying the robot is offline even though the station I connected and everything is online, can’t really use the robot from the app and I can’t even update the firmware for the station.
The mop is hard to operate on it’s own. The app is just horrible. It is super complicated you can’t find your maps. If you have multiple floors forget it unless you’re a tech wiz.
I cannot connect the vacuum to the app. I have done every suggested method multiple times. I’ve had it only for a few days, but this is becoming increasingly frustrating.
How can I use the robot when the app can’t detect wifi? After all the unboxing, I now have to return this heavy beast because of a silly software bug?! Why would you waste people’s time and resources Narwal…
Hello. Love the robot but not the app. I can’t split my floor to different rooms. It’s so difficult. When are they going to fix it. I feel I have to return it.
From constant “Failed to obtain the map. Click refresh” pop ups to dirty floors, this app nor vacuum works well. It should be a crime to sell junk to customers!
I received my Narwal Freo X Ultra three days ago, but it has been a useless lump since because the app never sends me an account verification email. I got the unit, downloaded the app, selected my country and language, entered my email address and hit a “Send” button to send an account verification email. A box popped up for a second and the “Send” button turned up a “resend” countdown, but no email came. Checked my spam folder. No email. Called support. They walked me through it again. When it still didn’t work they had me try an alternate “Gmail” account. Still no email in inbox or spam, he said he’d “escalate” the problem and I got an email to that effect at the email address I had been trying to register an sc point with. After a day with no response (not even a “we’re working on it” email, I replied to the escalation email with a detailed description of my problem in case the tech missed any details, I got back a “thank you” email, saying they’d forward my details to their technical team. Two days later now and still no communication. I tried the Narwal T10 app hoping I could use the same account for the Freo, it registered my account perfectly but alas, I can’t use that account with this app. So as of right now, I cannot recommend any Narwal Freo product or this app because you may wind up in the same boat as he with a useless pile of plastic taking up space and no one in support seeming to feel obliged to communicate with me.
The robot and app work well overall. The biggest downside is that once the robot discovers an area never seems to update it.It doesn’t seem to support at a new rooms if the doors closed during the initial scan. If you have a mat you want to move to clean under, or if isReadjusted overtime the robot will not update and ignore the area forever
