NGL: ask me anything

I really enjoy using this app, it’s a lot of fun, and it allows me to engage with my followers across my social media platforms in a way that is honest and engaging. A note to the developers, though, however, it would be nice to know when receiving, an incoming question, which platform that question is specifically coming from. I have taken notice that I will answer questions on my Instagram account; however, the question originally came from my Twitter / X - and is often made known through a direct message, saying hey, I uploaded my question on this platform, but you did not answer it. so please figure out a way to allow for those who will be answering questions to know where to post the answers specifically to the audience that ask the original question. Thank you.

NGL or Not gonna lie is such a great app. You can use it on snapchat or instagram i usually post it on my instagram story. People can ask you questions and say stuff and you anwser there question! For example someone can say “who do you like” and you reply if you want and post it on your story so people can see! This app is so fun and entertaining i love going to my inbox and seeing who has asked me something! You can also put it on different modes and different questions. Like who’s your crush, three words to describe me, and people will reply with there opinions and you can post it.

NGL the app is nostalgic but I bought the subscription to see who is sending me the messages, and when I bought the subscription, I click on one of the questions and is saying that I can’t see the message because it’s not available for love messages but if I pay seven dollars for the subscription to see who sent me the messages I’m supposed to see the messages I’m supposed to see who sent the message it don’t matter about. No love stuff like that is still supposed to be to where I could see who sent it because now it’s just a waste of my money, so that could’ve been said or notified before getting the subscription and I would’ve understood it but no matter if it’s a love message or not, I’m still supposed to see who sent the message!

I like this app because it does its job without unnecessary bells or whistles. However, it seems you can only have one account connected, which is perfectly fine for the average user, but I use multiple accounts and it would be neat if I could rotate between them. Many of the people leaving negative reviews are complaining about the $10 "hint" feature. I agree; it's scammy and misleading, even as a joke. I think the feature should be removed entirely because it goes against the app's whole gimmick, which is its anonymity, and it feels like an invasion of privacy to break that anonymity. If you really want to know, you could always try to personally find out.

It's a fine app, but definitely is not at all robust. You can only have one account linked, which is alright for casual users, but like someone else pointed out, it's very annoying for those of us who have several Instagram accounts and would like to use this for them. There's also no way to log in and get your old responses if you delete or offload the app. I had to offload the app for a while, and when I re-downloaded it and tried to log in with my same account, all previous responses I had gotten were gone. There were some of those I would have liked to hold onto... All in all it's a fine app, it just could use some work to bring it to more than just a cheap Instagram gimmick app.

this is not okay, i have paranoia and anxiety, i downloaded this and shared it on my twitter page and all the questions (from my ACTUAL friends were fine.) and then i started getting some creepy ones, which i have now realized were coming with the message "sent with ❤️ from team NGL" they were borderline threatening and i don't understand how developers thought this was a good idea, it caused me (and another friend) extreme distress because we were receiving messages like "yo stop leaving me on read", "not gonna judge but why...", and my personal worst "meaning of life?" and my friends worst was "i wish i could look like you" and they are very private about there personal life and only 2-3 people know what they look like irl and it truly scared them, please remove this feature it is unsafe and can cause horrible things.

What I like the most In here is that my friends are in Samoa or other school we talk up here in this app so that why I like this app. Samoan kids like this app the most because it fun and good. This app make kids and people happy and if your happy with this app please don’t make it to much msg not good or nonsense 🤪

This app is fun to use for different platforms, but there are some difficulties. This app told me different thoughts that people had of me, but turns out it lied to me. I realized that some messages were not from people that followed me, it was from the app itself. Some of the messages were automated which made me think that people actually said those nice things to me. I posted stuff that people didn’t actually say and i was basically just posting fake stuff. I want real people to say stuff they actually think about me so i can rate it and I won’t have to worry about fake stuff being told to me. I genuinely just don’t like this app and that is just my opinion.

In all honesty, I tried downloading this app to see if anyone had any hidden intentions for me, or if I can connect with some friends and anonymously, and for the first few days I thought it was going well cause I was getting responses but then I saw a review on here that said NGL send messages with love, I ran through most of my messages and about 95% of them were from NGL. I’m disgusted and Apo because I’m someone who doesn’t have very much friends and it’s hard for me to reach out due to my social anxiety, and this app completely ruined it by giving me false pretenses that I thought people were reaching out to me instead, it made me feel more alone than ever that I was getting spoken to by robot. I’m gonna start researching if there’s a lawsuit for emotional damage because I genuinely do not feel OK anymore.

I NEVER EVER have written a review. For any app. EVER. And I feel compelled to write this. Yes, the app does work well for anonymous messages and can be pretty fun. Except for well, this: “my friend has had a crush on you for the longest time” As someone who hasn’t had anyone who’s had a crush on them, I failed to notice the “sent with ❤️ from the NGL team” at the bottom and proceeded to go on a witch-hunt to find who sent this. After everyone swore up and down that they did not, my friend found articles and reviews talking about the fake “anonymous” messages. I do agree that this helps with interface and people responding so IF this has to be done (which I don’t think it should but whatever) please put harmless messages like “how’s your day” or “what’s your favorite color”. There’s a lot of interesting things that might be entertaining for friends/followers that are not directly stating that someone has a crush on you. Please proceed with caution and make sure to read which messages are real and not. Apparently, the messages weren’t always there and they got in trouble for that. I think that goes to show something about the developers to begin with.

This is a good app and it gives you the opportunity to get your friends and answer questions when you’re not with your friends so and it is also a really good ad for you to be on. It’s a really good app so I think you should know actually everybody should actually, I think you should download this app because it’s like a really good app so please download it and it will give them a lot of good ratings and also like I said you also get time with your friends and answer questions and you also get to make new friends and thenyeah and then it’s mostly an Instagram or Snapchat but it’s not on TikTok so yeah

Absolutely awful that they don’t keep record of their users knowing the potential trouble this could cause. I’ve been getting harassed for 2 weeks now, to the point that I’ve changed my phone number, and someone anonymously messaged me and what they said correlates to the text messages I had been receiving. I paid the $7 to try to find out who it is (because this person follows me on Instagram) and all it showed me is that they have an iPhone 13. When I reported it to the app and was able to email them, they apologized and told me to block the user. I don’t need to block them. I need to know who they are so I can finally go to the police about this! Seriously don’t waste your money if something happens that you need to know who’s messing with you.

I was trying to post a reply to a message I got but the app keeps telling me to update and there’s no button to tell it to update later- and so when I have to click “update now” there’s nothing on the App Store (since it took me here by clicking that) to help me update it?? I’ve looked like 5 times but maybe I’m missing something-? And I can’t update it through the app itself because I can’t back out of the update prompt to answer the question response, let alone update it in settings possibly as I can’t click anything than the update button- and it pops up as soon as I open the app 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ any tips?

The app was working fine for me. The problem came when I saw that I could see who sent the texts. So I spent $10 to see who they are and it gives me a completely useless hint saying what phone they have (and sometimes how close they are to me). Now I thought that it was just a joke and that maybe it’d give me other hints, but they were all the same. I want to warn anybody using this app: DO NOT SPEND $10!! IT WILL NOT TELL YOU WHO SENT THE MESSAGE! P.S. It was a nice little joke the developers made, but it’s really out of poor taste. I hope that y’all either bring the price down to $3-$4, or make it to where we can actually see who sent the messages. Making people pay just to get Rick-Rolled is highly irritating.

The app does what it’s suppose to do which is good BUT when using it and if you come across a message you really wanna see who sent it you, you have to pay to see which I didn’t mind since it was cheap BUT it doesn’t ACTUALLY show you who sent it. All it literally does is show you what kind of phone it was sent from. For example, “this message was sent from a iphone 11”. It’s very misleading how they try and get you to pay for something that doesn’t do what’s it’s suppose to do especially if your paying for it. So at the end of the day your better off just not paying for it an stay away.😑

I am giving it one star because I made a purchase for 6.99 so that I’m able to access additional features on the app and after the purchase was made, the features were not available for my usage. Getting in touch with someone to receive assistance is little to none existent. I get an automatic reply with a link that sends me to FAQs in which my concern was not even listed. I think the app is fine to use when it’s free. I have not got the opportunity to experience a paid version. They need to fix it. I am highly irritated that I am now having to go through a refund process because of this. And I will know you longer utilized that app ever again.

I received harassing messages and the app advertises when you pay you can u lock the senders information such as user name, type of phone and location. I was just emailed today by a NGL team member that they have no way of knowing who sent the messages and neither can I. They are scamming peoples money. I was told to “just delete the app” then at the end of the email I was told “please email us for further assistance”. You just told me to delete the app and there’s nothing you can do about someone saying they have been watching me and know where I live and I’ll find out “soon” who they are. I would stay far away from this app. I will be contacting my lawyer to see what can be done since NGL team lied about helping its customers.

The app sends messages impersonating your friends. These messages are marked with a warning “sent with ❤️ from team NGL”, but that warning is easily missed and can be easily misinterpreted. The warning was also only added after they received pushback for being deceitful. Before that change, they would still charge you to get hints on who sent the messages, even though they were fake. Some of these fake messages make for good prompts, like “who do you miss” or such. But others are clearly pretending be to a real person. I’ve received fake messages telling me they miss me, wanting to hang out, asking me on a date, etc. I received a fake message complaining about being left on open, and even had one that said “my parents always talk about you in a good way”. I understand giving out prompts to encourage people to open the app, and thus create a new link, but those prompts should be innocuous questions. Ask “what’s your favorite color?”, “Who’s the best artist?”, “dogs or cats?” Not “im gonna ask you out”. The person who developed this app is a scam artist.

I have been using this app for the better part of a month thinking that all the questions that i was getting were genuine. After the second week of using it i began to get repeat question spelled in the exact same way every SINGLE time. asking friends and people i have on my social media there were not as many people engaging with the app link as you would assume. nevertheless i would still get questions as if someone was engaging. this app used Chat GPT to formulate and send questions to users who don’t get a lot of engagement on the platform to make it seem like the app is working properly. i HIGHLY do not recommend this app to anyone!!!

I think it’s a really cool app for wanting to have ppl ask you questions and enjoy ppl’s commentary as well it kinda resembles sendit in a way but wayyy better I definitely do prefer this more and yeah I think ppl should get it if they like talking to their friends and want to know things from their friends that they won’t tell them but in a anonymous way. definitely get this app fs it won’t let you down -sofie

I gave it two stars because the messages I got that were real were fun, but I found out after the fact that if it says “sent with ❤️ from the NGL team” it’s a bot-generated message and they intentionally do not make this clear at all. It can be fun to use otherwise if you’re aware of that I guess, but it was disappointing to find out that some messages aren’t real. The last message I got was “spill some tea on your best friends” (which is kinda messed up to begin with) AFTER the link was no longer on my story, which is how I realized that many messages were fake. Not cool to scam people.

There’s a couple things that are really annoying about this app. The latest is that it’s now asking for age confirmation, but none of the buttons are loading so that you can actually confirm anything second it’s constantly telling me I have new messages and then when I login there’s nothing there I think it’s just a ploy to get us to click onto onto the app if we haven’t in a while. and lastly, I specifically changed my settings to not get NGL team messages, but still do.

To be honest it’s alright nothing special, my cousin had told me about this and I tried it out it’s just entertaining. I believe some of these messages aren’t really even being sent from people on your social media. I paid to see who had sent what messages, all it states is the location and phone they used (apple,android,google). Came out to be fake because it only showed me 1 out of multiple that I got, I cancelled right away. Then that’s when it clicked these messages are coming from the app itself…

This is a cool app for what it is intended for. I honestly would of given it 5 stars if I could add multiple accounts like IG has. I think if you guys do an update and make it where you can have up to at least 3 accounts that would be great! I don’t like odd numbers but 3 feels right. As far as the hint feature, I agree with the previous reviews and think it should be taken off but you have to make money somehow and some people might pay to find out who it was. Also when posted on ig we can’t seem to change the color or the background of the post to our stories like we can with original stories we create. I think trying to add that in there allowing even the slightest change in the color of the background so that way it doesn’t get to complex would be great.

The app within itself is good. It does what it’s supposed to; providing a way to fill time and get a good laughs out of the responses you get from followers. My main issue is this one weird bug that always seems to happen to me. Id post the link and only get 1-3 responses. Of course, mot every follower is going to participate and Im well aware of that. The issue im having is sometimes my friends tel me they sent one and show me proof but when I head onto the app, I get nothing in my inbox

It’s an okay app. It does what it says it does. You ask questions and get anonymous answers. What I don’t like is it is $7 per week to “see” who messaged you. I say “see” cuz all it does is give you hints as to who the person is, “where they’re from” “what kind of phone they have” etc. so unless you know what type of phone and everything your friends have you really don’t get told who they are. If the developers are going to make you pay $7 a week they should at least tell us who they really are or make it $7 a month.

I like posting go get anonymous messages, but when I try to click on others link it won’t allow me to. The only thing that pops up is the ngl website and telling me to download the app. I understand that it’s there for other to download, but I would really enjoy to send anonymous messages to my friends (even if they know it’s me). Maybe it’s a glitch on my phone but I’ll really love to send them. Maybe it’s a problem that I only have.

The app is aight and pretty fun to engage with my followers. But the subscription is a WASTE of money. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. They don’t even show me who sends the message or give hints. The app says it doesn’t support it? Like what bro? Like fix that or give me my money back cause that’s so dumb. Why have a subscription for something that isn’t gonna work? Might as well be a scam. Just don’t buy the subscription until they actually fix it or something. But all in all the app is okay for anonymous messages and all that.

I have been using this app recently and have been seeing strange messages that non of the people I know that wrote it, oh and it makes u pay like what $7 just to see that it’s the ngl app it self? I got a question a few minutes ago saying “my bf likes you wont stop talking ab you” I just absolutely hate this feature it makes me uncomfortable thinking that maybe one of my friends sent it to me but yet I, wrong it’s the bots. Please fix this problem and stop making the questions weird so u can stop making people feel uncomfortable, there are minors that use this app for crying out loud like me.

I posted my link on my story and as usual, I got messages. When I open the app, the messages doesn’t show. I delete the app and get it again and there are the messages. Then it happens again. I don’t want to keep restarting my phone or deleting the app just to see the messages. Is there a possible way you can fix this?

I love the app it is definitely a great way to connect with followers but I will say that the random messages from you guys are kind of annoying especially because they arent real responses from real people. I mean yea its cool that the team has questions put on there but they are the same questions over and over. Also id say we should be able to use an in app currency to see who sends responses. Overall though the app is fun to have.

Please stop with the fake “new message” notifications. Sometimes the app tells me I get one then when I open it, there are no new messages so I never know if the app is baiting me or if someone actually sent a message. This is a shady way of getting people to keep using the app. The expiration reminders are all we need. One more thing, please try implementing a dark mode. This is one of the very few apps that still flash-bangs me.

So I downloaded this app after seeing a lot of people using it on IG. I started to suspect they were bot generated questions and my suspicion turned into reality when I removed the link from my IG and I kept getting “anonymous messages.” It’s not an app that you can search for me and send messages, so where are they coming from? Not just that, but I tried disconnecting my Instagram from the app before deleting it and it doesn’t even give me the option to do so. I don’t feel comfortable having this app continue to be connected to my IG. Can someone please tell me how to make sure my data is deleted?

This app is really fun and entertaining, but I absolutely despise the fake messages sent by the app from time to time, especially when you’re trying to figure out by yourself who sent what. I know I don’t get many messages, but sending me fake ones isn’t going to change that nor is it going to make me feel better. Also, why would I want, as a hint, “This person is from your hometown”? Yeah, I know, I don’t have anyone that isn’t from my hometown in my social media.

I’ve been using this app for my Twitter for a few years now and it’s been so good but just recently I decided to do another round of messages and the only options I can reply with (using the format) is Instagram or Snapchat, I don’t have that. It doesn’t give Twitter as an option anymore. When I click on the link too, it says it can’t open. What happened and yes I’ve been keeping it updated. Is it fixing it so it says “X” instead?

I have been using this as a way to connect with my followers on instagram and up till now it’s been great but there is a bit of a problem I’m a high schooler that dosent have the money for the pro version and I’ve been getting some creepy ones recently I just wish that I had a way to know who was sending these creepy messages without paying

Ngl this app is so good. Its a way to let people get to know you or for a way to make friends and they can learn about you on this app. This app has given me the rights to make new friends and learn about them or to share a secrect and no one would know who it was expect for me . Over all this app is a five star rating I loved it and I love to make new fReInDs and yeah bye now

If I could rate this app ZERO STARS I would. First of all, the app’s responses don’t seem real. They seem made up to make it seem as if people are responding. The app has limited features or prompts which continuously push you to try to purchase the Pro or Plus version. They push this in hopes of you seeing who respondedanonymously, but when you pay for the WEEKLY(yes they charge you 6.99-$10 every week) you don’t get those features. I’ve requested a refund and reported this app to Apple and the proper outlets. Very misleading app that uses false advertising to get people to pay.

When I first got this app I thought it would be like a really cool app where my friends can ask me questions and stuff. Then I decided to look into the app and make sure it was not sketchy and turns out it’s has your location, account info, and name and it’s really weird cause what kind of app uses your location, well Snapchat uses it but at least I can turn of the location. So if the developers are reading this, I will reinstall this app if there is a option so I can delete my location on the app

My old page’s link is still on safari so I am trying to get access to old messages but the app seems to suggest opening a new page after every download. It’s like restarting instead of getting your old page back so you can access old messages. I lost the old app cos I switched phones and now I’m having problems getting back in. I think this should be rectified.

I enjoyed using this app as a silly little fun activity to engage with people on my Snapchat. Apparently the app sends messages if you don't expressly tell them not to. The worst one I received was "my bf likes you won't stop talking about you." This I didn't realize was a bot message and really upset me and made me feel guilty about something that didn't even happen. They will also send messages like "I have a crush on you" or "my friend likes you" that could be misleading and could likely lead to someone's feelings getting hurt. I will no longer be using this app.

Fun app and all but… I copied the link to put on my Instagram story but I got busy before I could post my story and somehow I’ve already received 2 “anonymous” messages. Oh they’re anonymous alright. Just let the app be what it is, having ready made messages from the app itself takes away the whole point for me. It’s not a huge deal because it is just a random fun thing to do on ig, but to the developers, I don’t think this feature is necessary!

I had misclicked the year for me and I was trying to fix it but I couldn’t so I don’t really know what to do bc the game won’t allow me to change it to 2006 and it thought I clicked 2008 (I had gotten a new set of long nails I wasn’t use to so I had misclicked) I just wish there was a way to change it because I had been DIGGING to find out how, if there is a way to change it that’d be great! Overall the app is fun and cool.

It's a great app to receive messages anonymously. And it's safe enough to where it's not a random link that'll send you elsewhere. I like that you don't need to download the app to respond to someone. I like that there's no limit to how much can be written. I like that there's no ads! One thing I don't like is the auto generated responses from the app. i know the app sent those messages because I've seen the same question prompts on other people's stories.

This is a cool concept but I can’t stand the amount of *FAKE* notifications this app insists on sending. The app send notifications saying someone sent you a message and then you click on it just to find out that was a complete lie. I’ve signed out, deleted and reinstalled the app, but it keeps happening. It also sends AI generated messages for people who don’t get messages from their friends. It’s not the app’s job to make us feel good, literally just do what you say you’re going to do and it’s an easy 5 stars.

So I like NGL it’s really fun especially bcuz u don’t know who is sending the message. The only thing I don’t like is when you’re all excited that you have a message but then it says “with ❤️ from team NGL” like especially if it’s a really nice thing bcuz I would feel weird posting it. I guess I just wish that “team ngl” should stop sending messages that’s my only complaint.

So the reason I’m writing this is because I want the devs to see this when I get a notification that I got a message it’s never there what’s with that!???? If you could make it so it’s more accurate or even just show the message that would be so much better also we need more questionssssssssssss but that’s all for now thanks Your friendly neighbor Noah

The app is great. Nice UI/UX. Rich look. Does the job. I’ve heard complaints about the Pro subscribers. $10 per week is too high for what info they’re giving (only phone OS and city). But I’m not here to talk about that since I don’t have that subscription. My only complaint is, STOP IT WITH THE SPAM. You guys give way too many notifications where you want me to share it on Instagram. I can only put it so many times. Beyond a point, my followers are going to be annoyed. So please, take it a notch down. Too many notifications asking me to open it and then share my question up on Instagram is a tad bit too annoying. It’s already on my bio, I don’t want to be adding it on my stories again and again.

There doesn’t seem to be much security. Like I literally just typed in my handle, didn’t have to sign in or anything, and I was able to post to my story and share. I tried posting to my story from the NGL app again with another one of my accounts on default on IG and it let me post it to that story too. It just makes me feel like anyone can receive anonymous messages using my name and picture from any account and that’s kinda sus

The app works fine and it’s a cool concept, but my problem is it says “see who sent it” so I click it and it makes me pay. Whatever that’s fine, but when you pay it just gives you an absolutely useless hint. It’s ridiculous and a bit scammy. If you read this don’t pay the 10 dollars to see who sent it Because it doesn’t actually tell you. Also I’m pretty sure it fakes some responses.
