Glitchy but great - Updated Review
On December 2015 I wrote a review on the Notti and I am giving you an update. On my original review I mentioned the notification for missed calls, incoming calls, SMS and upcoming events works great. The other issues I had was the music, the alarm and the email notifications not working. Well, it is all working. Took awhile to figure it out and I wish the company had a more detail troubleshooting guide and since this is lacking, I am going to described what I did if that get some users to get their Notti to work. The following is for iPhone. For the alarm to work, if you want to test it, do not set the alarm for 1 minute, the light won't come on. You need to set the alarm for 10mn, the reason is the app will turn on the light 5 minutes prior to the time you set the alarm, therefore why the 1mn never worked. As for the alarm, I wish there could be a snooze and that the alarm will ring longer than just few seconds. For the music, with the iTunes the music can also be on the cloud and the app does not work by streaming music. The songs have to be on the iPhone. Once I got a couple of songs on the phone, the light is pretty cool at following the beat and changing colors. For the email notifications this was a little more tricky to get to work. As per the device feature is to let you know of notifications. It does exactly that, notifies you and it uses the notification center on your iPhone. Why it works so well with the other feature. For the email, you need to go to your "Settings", go to "Notifications" and scroll down to the mail. If you have multiple email accounts, you will see them there. Select the email address you want to receive notifications for and make sure the feature "Show in Notification center" is selected and also "Show on Lock Screen". Now, when an email is received on that email address, the Notti will come on. Sometimes reading the email will turn off the Notti but not always. You need to bring the top menu down and go to "Notifications" and clear them all and the Notti will stop blinking. As for Facebook notifications, if you post a comment and someone likes it, the Notti won't come on. It will come on if someone share your posting or when commenting they tag you. The reason why the Notti is not coming on when someone likes your posting, is because the Facebook app does not have a badge nor a notification to let you know that someone like your post. If Facebook made an option to have notifications in the notification center when someone like your post, then the Notti will come on. As for the Facebook messenger, the Notti works great. I also tested Skype and works as well. Now, it will be great for the app to have the following: 1. Under the "Notification", it will be great to have a button that disable all of the notifications, so that when the alarm is set, the Notti won't flash when an email, text or any other notifications are received. The button on the app under "Notification", only does one thing; prevents the user to go change the notifications. So, before I set the alarm, I have to go to the notifications and disabled all of them. Not very handy and the next day I have to re-enable them. 2. As mention earlier, the alarm should behave like a real alarm, let the alarm ring as long as needed until the user either click on snooze or turn off. 3. For the alarm or notifications, when I set the color and dim them, it is not remembered and go back to full brightness when the Notti notifies me. 4. As mention by another user, Jezuslovr, to have a light by contact will be useful. 5. Another user mention this as well, but a support for third party app of my choosing will be useful. Aside from few of the shortcomings, this device is really useful and I use it everyday.
