THE BEST!!!

Just wanted to share my thoughts about this app (mainly b/c the developer asked in the description lol) But he definitely deserves all the 5 stars reviews for this app! Just for the simple fact it's free deserves 5 stars! But even more so since the offering is out of Dev's love for creating and wanted to share his work with all of us so THANK YOU! For creating such an awesomely simple yet incredibly useful and capable app. I found it works amazingly well in tandem w/ the flow pomodoro timer as it fits perfectly right next to it in the menu bar and i can use One Thing to put my intention for each project or workflow and then set the timer that way when i look up and check the time remaining i am reminded of the aim i'm trying to achieve with each task i'm working on. Absolutely love it and thank you again for offering it for free! Deserves 10 stars if possible!

Grateful for this 🙏🏼

I have tried...too many ways to put a digital sticky note on my screen that stays present and visible at all times, but stays out of the way so I can get things done. I now have a bright yellow, bold text reminder in my menu bar, and it's fantastic. For anyone who is prone to yak shaving, diving down rabbit holes, or otherwise being easily distracted, like me, this is a really valuable, simple way to stay reminded of the one thing I should re-focus on. To Sindre: they say the universe returns what you put out in the world. The universe owes you unlimited good vibes. Thanks for all the cool stuff you put out there for the nerds. I, for one, really appreciate your efforts. ☮️

Love it and really appreciate the scripting functionality

This app is really useful for me because I'm always getting sidetracked when I have to work on large/overwhelming tasks and it serves as a reminder to get back on track when I see it. I also really appreciate the ability to script any text into the app for which the developer has written up a wonderful How To guide. Thanks so much for this awesome little app!

Just ONE thing, perfectly!

I love the simplicity of this app, it does one thing and it does it very well. I put my dialy focus in the menu bar, and it is stupidly simple to change the text. I didn't even realize until today it could do simple Markdown, including LINKS! I also like the "prefix" and "suffix" strings so you can make the text stand out hoever you want; I use large inward-pointing triangles. Kudo and Huzzahs to Sindre Sorhus !!

5 Stars for Each Thing

I was promised the app would solve one problem, very well, and it does that one thing I need which is put a reminder in my face about something. That hasn't changed in 2 months, and that's not the fault of the app - at least I know what I'm not getting done, always. Really cleanly does it well too, which I've come to expect, the author does great work.

An absolute delight

This app really does a great job of creating delightful moments for the user. On first launch it's approachable and easy to get started. Then, as you explore it, you find these little, well-thought-out bits of optional functionality that make it all the more fun and useful. For instance, downloading the example Shortcut and, in doing so, realizing that the app supports inline markdown links?!? 🤯

A simple concept, executed beautifully

It's such a simple concept, but having a dedicated always-present space to keep a current focus item has been a really nice way to keep on task! Beautifully simple and, dare I say, perfect execution of the idea.

Love this app

You can do anything on a computer. Limitless options and it can be overwhelming. One thing is only one thing, and it is always visible. One task, one mantra, one quote, one goal, one whatever you want. This app is simple, static, and brings peace of mind.

surprisingly more effective than you'd think

I expected to need much more complexity than this. Maybe some other features could work, but as-is this is most of what is really neeeded.

Both out-of-the-way and effective

I can't stand needlessly busy or in-your-face software, I also have grown weary of over-complicated productivity apps, but this one seems like such a sweet spot. It's so small and simple and subtle but is so, so useful.

Fantastic App

This is one of the best and most under-rated apps on the App Store. Especially useful with shortcuts integration so you can automate messages that appear in the menu bar. It's simple and works perfectly.

Perfect — Exactly what I needed

Simple and elegant: just perfect. I needed a text widget to display my indoor climate on my Mac, so I was disappointed that Sindre’s Any Text app requires a Mac with Apple Silicon. But then I discovered that he had also created this super simple app, and it’s even better suited for my needs. Full macOS widgets are too big, and displaying plain text in them looks ugly. One Thing, on the other hand, blends in perfectly in the Menu Bar! Thank you!!

It does one thing

It puts the one thing in your status bar as advertised. Especially if you're easily distracted by the apps up there its good to keep you on task.

Surprisingly useful app.

If you have any ADHD at all you should get this app. It has been very helpful. I find myself getting back on task much more quickly.

Perfect!
