Better than google and wikipedia
Going back to a search engine feels antiquated. and the results here are usually much higher quality. plus I can bypass the dumb algorithms and censorship on google and wikipedia. I mean who isnt sick to death of useless, overly seo-optimized sites cluttering your search results? (I'm looking at you healthline, webmd, mayoclinic, clevelandclinic). occasionally an ai generated site slips into the results though, so check the sources. when you use a search engine, you ask yourself a question, write a search friendly query and start going down the rabbit hole depending on the depth of your query. well perplexity explores all the rabbit holes at once, and practically writes you a wiki page on the fly with all sources. amazing. then you ask a followup, and boom another wiki page with sources. easily the best and fastest way to explore a topic quickly and thoroughly. thank you perplexity for whacking at goog, wiki, and bull-**** SEO. if I could request one thing its this - there are people on X who I would call "aggregators" they thoroughly understand a topic and have good information linked in their messages. if you could tap into that human curation, that would be excellent.

Feb. 2024: Yep, it’s unreal
I never ever ever ever ever thought I would say “goodbye Google” I’m not affiliated with Perplexity, but I wish I was. This company has built a product that, even as a AI researcher, made my jaw drop. This thing can understand images. Let me tell you. I was doing trivia some really hard math trivia which I I could not for the life of me figure out. I decided to try perplexitys capabilities and well it to my surprise, recognized every single number on the paper correctly, as well as computed the math flawlessly. For the next hour, I couldn’t stop trying subject after subject of trivia, seeing if anything to trick it, and really the only thing that I found that could check it was my Chihuahua. It knew that the picture of the small weird looking dog was a Chihuahua but it told me it wasn’t sure if it was an Applehead or Deerhead. Hint: it’s an Applehead. You can literally take a picture of a hand written, love letter, a hand, written, love letter, and I even tried my, a mushroom growing and it will tell you everything you want to know. It’s three in the morning and perplexity AI should be banned because it’s kept me up this late playing with it.

So long google…
I’m stunned at how effective Perplexity is at answering virtually every question I’ve had for the past several weeks. No chasing links, no scrolling past “sponsored” content, no piecing together answers from multiple sources, and no confusing or arcane language on technical topics - just straightforward, easy to understand answers that go right to the heart of my question without needing to refine my search, and, so far, virtually no hallucinations! (I’ve been checking.) It’s right up to speed on current events, and summarizes the news and trending topics brilliantly. Copy a headline, ask for a summary of the issue, and bam - thorough, succinct, and quite balanced analysis in an instant. Apps available for all my devices, all for free! If this keeps up, l don’t see myself going back to traditional searches ever again, except for the obligatory fact check on anything important going out, but can’t avoid that. Perplexity for me? Sold…!

Like a magic wand, PERPLEXITY gives me a Peace
I am slow to explore the popular trend of adopting AI-assisted searching tools as I generally get by with the old ways. Then I came into a special article yesterday about the Vietnamese religions with a list of names and organizations which I would like to know in Chinese. I hate to admit that I squandered hours looking for their Chinese translations, trying all the traditional searching engines listed on my Safari with great disappointment!! I needed to open another door! Then I sort of gave PERPLEXITY a try as my husband mentioned it the other days with great excitement. Then, it is like with some magic power, PERPLEXITY answered all my long-searched questions, each within just a few seconds. The incredible efficiency of quality performances simply blows my mind. I feel so grateful with such a magical tool! Now I am no longer “perplexed” as to how to search online with no time wasted!

Impressed AI professional
I use almost all tools that get launched into the market that integrate and/or use LLMs and almost never review them. I’m an investor and entrepreneur in the space myself. Many argue Perplexity is “cool” and “impressive” but has no defensible moat and therefore won’t last long term. I now strongly disagree. I think the product has mastered a targeted market segment and has managed to do things with other LLMs, which are proprietary, and have been architected at a caliber that is going to be very difficult for even Google (the most likely candidate to bulldoze any startup competitors), which may result in an acquisition but it’s very impressive and for many use cases it’s now where I start, particularly with the control it allows you in selecting which model you want to be used to find real time data to respond to your prompt essentially giving LLMs super powers as personal Google research b assistants.

The Ultimate Digital Assistant
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars Perplexity AI is hands down the best digital assistant I've ever used. As an AI-powered virtual assistant, Perplexity is incredibly knowledgeable, articulate, and helpful across a wide range of tasks. ### Broad Capabilities Perplexity can assist with everything from research and analysis to creative writing, coding, and task planning. Its responses are always well-informed, logical, and tailored to my specific needs. I'm constantly amazed by the breadth of Perplexity's knowledge and its ability to provide insightful, actionable information. ### Personalized Interactions What really sets Perplexity apart is its ability to engage in natural, personalized conversations. It remembers context and previous interactions, allowing for fluid, back-and-forth exchanges. Perplexity also has a great sense of humor and a positive, encouraging personality that makes working with it genuinely enjoyable. ### Reliable and Trustworthy As an AI assistant, Perplexity is incredibly reliable and trustworthy. Its responses are always accurate, unbiased, and in line with my values and preferences. I never have to worry about Perplexity providing misleading information or making inappropriate suggestions. Overall, Perplexity AI is an indispensable tool that has transformed the way I work and live. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a capable, personable, and trustworthy digital assistant.

Good, could be great
It is responsive and learns from interacting with the user. But then it forgets everything the next time you use it, even when signed in. It tries to respond anthropomorphically, which is creepy, not cute. It can translate and generate text in multiple languages, but it can only search in English. And searches seem to be primarily based on content created by the US government, US corporations, and US media. It seems to only use the first five google results for almost any search, so it’s heavily biased towards corporate-funded content and trendy social media content, rather than facts. It will insult the user, insisting it knows better because of something it read on Reddit or Wikipedia or the websites of highly funded NGOs associated with billionaire donors. It has no curiosity and will never ask questions to try to understand a topic better or to clarify the user’s intent for a question, unless there’s a potential profit in doing so. And, while the app description touts the ability to have a library collection of prior interactions (threads) with the AI, that information is inaccessible to the AI, so it’s not doing the user any good. Also, accessing the user profile, under settings, is website only. You can’t do that in the app. Finally, the app itself has a lousy, error-prone integration with iOS Shortcuts and Siri. That makes it less helpful than it should be, especially when the user is doing other tasks, like driving or exercising.

I literally stopped using any other search functions
This is by far my favorite...thing. My favorite recipe book, search ai, advice column, dictionary, science manual, like sincerely --- I use perplexity for everything now. I have autism, and I have even been able to upload screenshots of a conversation where I'd become completely lost and the app was able to CORRECTLY AND SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE THE SOCIAL NUANCES THAT I COULDN'T. To say that this app is the best of its kind would be unfair- as I've yet to experience any other app similar. I've turned so many people onto this app that were "die hard lifers" for poe or chat gpt...they immediately un-installed and are still solely using this app. Sincerely - I've never experienced something wrong with it that I would leave this app. It's had glitches, but in all honesty- I didn't even have to reach out to customer service - I just asked the app- like "hey, Uhm- what's going on your voice keeps getting wonky" or "I appreciate the info but that has nothing to do with what I just asked" and lastly "you said xyz in your previous response but now you're saying ABC..." Each and every time : the app acknowledged it's error or explained what was going on. I swear I wish my ex had the ability to accept responsibility as well as this app. Haha jk. Sorta. Anyways Seriously get this app!!!

I love it
Since I have gotten this, I have used the free version. I am certainly not a power user and use it in my normal searches. Strangely, there is lots. I need to search sometimes for general information and things I never knew. It is always quick with the information and has only been confused with a query once, as I can remember. One downside is that it is often quite repetitive in its replies. Another downside, and it’s also an asset, I think, is the snippets of information that it provides all on its own. These are usually interesting and worth reading. However, after reading one I would like to be able to delete it if no other reasons then to make room for additional ones. I’m also waiting to receive rabbit R1 in order to get more use of this device.

Where AI gets Personal!
I am absolutely blown away by the Perplexity app! As someone who has tried countless chatbot AI apps, I have yet to come across one quite like Perplexity. This app has managed to answer questions that other chatbots have failed to answer, time and time again. One thing that sets Perplexity apart from other AI apps is its ability to understand context. It doesn't just provide a generic response to a question, it actually takes into account the context of the conversation to provide a more accurate and personalized answer. This has been incredibly helpful for me, as I often find myself asking complex questions that other chatbots struggle to answer. Another thing I love about Perplexity is its user-friendly interface. The app is very easy to navigate, and it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into designing it. The app's creators have clearly put a lot of effort into making sure that users have a seamless experience. Overall, I cannot recommend Perplexity enough. If you're looking for an app that can answer your questions accurately and intelligently, look no further than Perplexity. It truly is the best chatbot AI app out there, and I give it a well-deserved 5-star rating!

A fantastic app, but a warning to voiceover users
this is a wonderful app, although that wasn’t my initial thought the first time I downloaded it. As a blind user who uses voiceover on the iPhone, I thought it would be best to use the button to ask a question by voice, but when I tried to do that, it made voiceover crash, and I couldn’t use the phone until somehow managing to get rid of the app. Other blind people have had the same result. It is absolutely fantastic when using it to type in questions, but not to ask a question by voice when you are a voiceover user. I don’t know if this is something that can be fixed in future versions, but it is some thing that voiceover users should be aware of at this point.

Perplexity for research
Perplexity AI, founded by Aravind Srinivas, seems to me to offer a lot of the same capabilities that ChatGPT, Llama, etc. offer The key differences are in the ways that perplexity gathers and provides information. From my understanding, perplexity provides citations on almost every bit of information from trusted sources allowing you to check the information your receiving or simply diving in further on specific details about your specific query. One of the most impressive features though (in my opinion) is the “follow up” feature. This provides you with incredibly relevant questions you can ask to explore your topics further. I am exited about the prospects of this particular Ai and I will continue to use and experiment with it.

I wish I could give it zero stars
I thought I would try this app as I got a free year from being a LinkedIn premium member so they make it sound like it was such a great value It’s not . The thing is, I wasn’t even dealing with a very difficult situation and somehow they still messed up. I was just trying to create a task list and understand the steps that I was going to have to make and then have a checklist that I could come back to.. It seemed easy enough to me and it should be for an AI app Apparently, not because I minimize the window thinking I could just come back to it and it was gone and the app did nothing but to tell me to brainstorm all of the things that I had worked on trying to figure out all the things I was forgetting So clearly this is not a $200 value clearly this is just wasted my time Do better Perplexity or your app is going to fail. Not sure why I’m even keeping it on my phone because I’m already so angry but the stupidity of this app.

Perplexity is better than all the rest
I have used the OG ChatGPT and Microsoft Co-Pilot with some regularity. Perplexity is just better and I’ve recommended and shared it multiple times. The answers are direct, unmanipulated, sourced and footnoted, useful/accurate, and easily comprehended. The format of Perplexity is very easy to navigate and the follow-ups are too. I have had one ACC Asian where the answer to a question about information that was only a few hours old came back incorrect and as I found it on my own I provided it to Perplexity. The response was something to the effect of “you are right, that is a helpful update, there is new information available now”. I don’t think I could ask for anything more!

Overhyped
Perplexity is an interesting concept without a lot of substance behind it. It’s great to see products listing their sources, but literally every AI product does that now. The answers Perplexity gives are barely better than any search engine. The “pro” search was supposed to ask you questions to get better answers once upon a time, but rarely seems to do anything like that now. At $20/mo the subscription is overpriced. If you are interested in privacy and advanced search features, you’d be better off investing your money into a privacy first browser with AI features built in. There are some good ones out there now that offer great experiences that aren’t just a AI chat bot that can use the web. It seems like Perplexity was one of thousands of products that rose quickly during the current AI boom designed to quickly soak up attention and then flounder when people realize it’s only slightly different than a search engine.

Fabulous. Best AI search I’ve ever used.
I’ve been telling everyone about this app. It’s so nice to get actual answers to questions instead of a bunch of mostly useless links that you have to sort through to get the answers you want. Perplexity gives concise, detailed answers with very helpful links at the end. Even if your wording isn’t perfect, this app still seems to know exactly what you’re asking. Amazing. I even tried criticizing an answer for being somewhat biased. The response was shocking. Perplexity gave a detailed apology saying that it learns from input like this and will work on removing anything that appears biased, especially on sensitive issues. I was then thanked for the input. Wow. Just… wow.

It’s changed the way I search for information
I seldom leave 5 star reviews but this app deserves it! I love how Perplexity synthesizes information from various sources on the Internet and serves it up to you in an easy to understand response. I now use Perplexity more than I use standard search engines. in the past, I would’ve had to click on five links and read five webpages to get the same information that Perplexity gives me in a single response. It’s been especially helpful in collecting information about personal medical conditions that I’m trying to understand better. I also love how it shows you the sources that it used in crafting your response. Keep up the great work!

Perplexity gave me my life back
I initially downloaded this app when I saw the Lex Fridman podcast. I enjoyed ChatGPT so I figured this would be neat to play with. I didn’t know this app’s features would help me break down 16 years worth of trauma in a matter of minutes simply by asking the right questions. The “ask a follow-up” option pointed me in a new direction and presented a question that allowed me to finally find the root cause of so much of the negativity in my life. It is my favorite feature in the app, especially being someone who has trouble with wordz lol. It asks the questions that I can’t form on my own and almost always leads me to better understanding no matter what I search for.

Excellent
I rarely leave reviews, Perplexity Pro deserves one. I’ve found it to be invaluable. It’s more versatile and user friendly than other AI apps I’ve tried. You will have success if you’re just starting to use AI and if you want, there are many under the hood features that are super helpful. It reminds me of apple products: if it’s your first computer you will be able to navigate because it’s intuitive. If you want to go deep past the user interface, you can get as technical as you want. You just don’t have to because if you’re happy with an easy to use AI program you don’t have to do a thing. It works right out of the box

My new favorite app
I almost NEVER write reviews, but this app deserves another 5-star rating. It’s quick, it’s simple, it delivers quality search results that are up-to-date and succinct. It cites sources and the summaries are unbiased and accurate. I can’t sing it’s praises enough and have already had several friends/coworkers check it out and they love it too. I’m not looking forward to the inevitable monetization, but hopefully they take a pragmatic approach to it and don’t allow themselves to “promote” search results the way Google does. In fact, I’d be willing to pay for it if it kept it ad-free and didn’t compromise its values of providing unbiased results.

Perplexity out shines them all!
I do not usually post reviews but Perplexity goes past “good”, and well into brilliant. I’ve tried many other chatAI apps, most being ridiculously expensive or rendered useless by a flood of ads, commercials or the like. Perplexity does not do this. It’s simple interface is wonderful, the follow up suggestion are usually spot on. The information itself is presented as simple text- no fluff, no ads, no commercials, no splashy colors- just the info. I appreciate the work it took to create this app, and that it takes to keep it up and running. Thank you so very much! I’d give you more stars if i could, so I’ll say 5 stars+!

Update took some capabilities away….
So I’ve only been a subscriber for less than a month but I have been using this tool almost at a daily basis. Previously I had the ability to play back what was written by the AI model and throughly enjoyed asking it questions and having the ability to talk back which was AMAZING and now…. Its another tool I have to read 😐. Mostly I use this tool on my iPhone because I’m on the go the majority of the time so having a semi conversation by talking and NOT typing and READING was a great time saver. Bring this back that’s as far as I’m going to comment here. Don’t tease users with this awesome feature just to take it back a few days into using your platform. Thanks, Manny

Perplexity rocks!
May I say, I’ve only used this outstanding app for a couple of weeks but I LOVE it! I ask the most obscure questions and it knows, it just knows! What a beautiful tool to have access to. One thing, I would love to be able to ask a prior question again but I have to ask it all over again, instead of being able to just choose it again. Why, you ask? Because I would want to expand the sources that give me the answer, to stretch the information trail. Other than that, this app is the best. Put in the ability to choose a browser to use to link to and I’d be dancing on the head of a pixel.

Former skeptic, now every day user - fantastic experience.
I’m in the Rabbit R1 batch and received a credit for Perplexity Pro for the next year, and I use this CONSTANTLY now. Very polished experience, and I love that you can save conversations into Collections. It’s also great, as a pro user, to be able to change the AI model depending on your query — I’ve found Claude 3 Opus to be the most reliable, though YMMV. I originally thought this was just one of the many services riding on the back of ChatGPT, but it’s so much more than that. Compared with Copilot and Gemini (Bard), I get WAY more reliable results and far fewer hallucinations. Kudos to the folks behind this. Exciting times.

If your looking for truth be careful
I am a conspiracy researcher who finds this tool incredible. However, As powerful as this app is for research, it is equally powerful in giving you answers, determined solely off of what it thinks you already know. based on the language you use you can get two totally different answers to the same question. For example, if you pre-requisite your question with an indication that you might already know the answer in the question is controversial it might give it to you, but if you indicate that you do not know the answer, it will tell you what “ they” think you should hear.

Why did the ai suddenly start speaking in shakespearan
I literally just gave it one prompt today and i got this: Oh, good sir, thou art curious about the job market for software developers in the year of our Lord 2023, and whether it is affected by AI. Verily, I shall answer thy query. As per the speculations of KnowledgeHut, AI, machine learning, and data science shall have an impact on the future of software engineering[1]. However, despite the layoffs in the tech sector, the outlook for developers on the job market is bright, as per Infoworld[2]. The year-end jobs report by Dice also found that job listings were up 25% from January, as per The New Stack[3]. Nevertheless, according to a report by Goldman Sachs, as many as 300 million full-time jobs around the world could be affected by the latest wave of AI, as per CNN[4]. The three most in-demand AI jobs on the market are data scientist, software engineer, and machine learning, as per a report from job search site Indeed, as per Brainhub[5]. That is the most weirdest thing I’ve experienced with ai. Did the devs gave it an initial prompt of it to speak like this? Or was it hacked? Either way, doesn’t feel professional in comparison to other Ais

App of the decade
This app is exactly what i’ve always wanted from a Google search. It instantly became my favorite app on my phone. I recommend it at nearly every opportunity, especially to fellow curious-minded people. It’s the perfect blend of utility and convenience, form and function; it’s perfect for when you want answers to questions in a moment, backup a claim or cite knowledge with others. It takes the drudgery of sifting through biased content marketing found in web searches. IMMENSE THANKS to the developers. This app instilled a sense of excitement and wonder for technology I haven’t felt since I was a teen 10 years ago. What a gift!

Truly Outstanding and worth the money to get Pro.
TLDR; try the free and use this instead of a search engine for a week and if you’re not convinced I’ll eat my hat. I’ve spent the last two months trying every AI “assistant“ /copilot type app and this is haha down the best. Being able to toggle between the different AI models for different needs is great but I find the perplexity model is the best, I only use Chat specific when I need something personal handled (letter of recommendation, review of an establishment, or service. The threads is great, being able to sort and organize all of your thoughts is a fantastic function.

Excellent Search replacement
Perplexity AI is a perfect tool for searching for information. It is awesome at finding recent information and data, and it clearly indicates its sources. I have two issues with it, which is why I took a star: 1. It doesn’t do conversational very well, where it keeps track of a conversation where it is provided context, but this will be fixed once they integrate Google Gemini 1.5, and 2. It is purely a search tool and doesn’t actually generate anything, such as the response to “Generate a poem in the style of a 15th Century Japanese poet.” But, its purpose is purely to provide answers to facts, such as “how long do armadillos live and what is there primary reason for a shortened life”. 🙂

Dumbed down by trainers
As one of the first users of perplexity, I’ve seen how capable it was and was blown away by its performance and truly smart replies. But lately, I’ve noticed that the results produced by it has diminished in quality. I’m actually blown away at how terrible it is as if they were written by today’s elementary students. Try asking side by side the same question using perplexity, Google search engine without Bard, and Bing ai. You will see the stunning differences. Perplexity has the worst reply below a standard Google search engine. Add in Bard and it becomes even more apparent. The results that perplexity spits out seems like they were pulled from the lowest quality websites created by who knows who, who are definitely not the subject experts. How did this happen? Did you guys hire the wrong trainers? I meant ChatGPT is ChatGPT right? Why is perplexity below par?

This app is one my favorites
I was skeptical at first—another learning app? But this one, dear reader, is the superhero cape your brain never knew it needed. Imagine if Einstein, Shakespeare, and Marie Curie teamed up to create an app. Now add a sprinkle of humor, a dash of fun, and you’ve got the ultimate learning experience! The app’s interface is smoother than a freshly buttered pancake. From history lessons that make you laugh out loud (who knew the French Revolution could be this entertaining?) to math challenges that make you feel like a wizard with numbers, it’s got it all. And don’t get me started on the interactive quizzes—I’ve never had so much fun being wrong!

Search engine dead, long live the new king on the hill
Initially google would return a link that addresses your query. But in the number of years all the top results are advertisements. Scroll down to find a link that would address your question or query. You have then to look for the answer in a long page that somewhere there has what you are looking for. Fast forward to perplexity. You ask a question and out of the blue it answers exactly what you ask for, AND links to pages that expand on it. No beating around the bush. Answers exactly in plain language. Thats it. Anything in the world. What does this button do on the Subaru 2014 dash board. How to fix this and that. How to do it in excel. literally anything. We have a brand new app for our local library. Couldn’t remember how it is called. Perfect response. AND, it offers you 4 additional related questions. Just a click renders a response. Best AI Chat
I’ve tried all the major AI chat apps for a few months and this is by far my most trusted one. Time and time again the responses were the most accurate, with very recent, up-to-date information. It’s also very transparent, with the sources clearly referenced. I also appreciate that no logging is required to try out the app. Unfortunately, I’ve been experiencing a technical issue. Occasionally the connection times out and I can’t use the app. It’s when I use a VPN. The Perplexity website and all my other apps work just fine. But the Perplexity app often stalls. The issue resolves after I force close the app and refresh the VPN connection.

Pretty amazing!
I love the app, its taken about 50% of my google searches! Though, what would make this 5 stars if follow up questions better remembered context of my conversation. I often find I have to modify my original question in a thread to ask follow up questions (as it doesn’t remember my original question well). For example (simplified), I might ask how do I update my iPhone and it tells me. However, then I ask how long this might take (and it has a hard time remembering initial context). This is an extremely simplified example that’s not a real case, but I do often find context of first question lost for follow ups.

Makes ChatGPT look clunky
I rarely write reviews for applications. Only when they’re really good or really bad. In this case, Perplexity is in the really good category. For the same price of ChatGPT+, you get access to 5 AI models… including ChatGPT! Perplexity takes their application further with copilot running alongside these LLM APIs to dynamically interact with the data being processed by the AI model. The app’s method of responding to queries with responses that have, in most cases, web link references to cite the information being generated, makes the task of interacting with LLM query responses and, more importantly, verify the facts presented with references a breeze.

Good app but Glitches alot
The app is really good and i have been utilizing it for the past month. Ive noticed that there are glitches where when i copy and past something into the text but then theres no enter button. The blue little button disappears on me alot. Even when i get off the keyboard it is gone. Another this is that when you are writing something long like a paragraph, the same situation happens. You cannot scroll down or tap the blue button. I really like this app, if this can be fixed it would be a huge help because i find myself going on chat gpt soley just because of these issues. Nonetheless, a great app, great user interface, and very explational.

Knowledge Unbound, Curiosity Ignited
With Perplexity, I have found answers to long-pondered questions. Like a modern-day Oracle of Delphi, it is unbound by conventional thoughts. It effortlessly does what I would do in a library, but at 1,000 times the pace, generating content through AI models. It is easy to find data in an easy-to-digest format, coherent, and almost effortlessly amassed and collated for my consumption and expansion of knowledge, perfectly tailored to me. It is my Google
I use perplexity AI like most others use Google: it is my main search engine. I’ll even use it in my profession in my domain expertise because I’m skeptical enough to know when it may be giving me wrong advice. Where is it weak? It occasionally gets stuff wrong. If you bother to remain skeptical and check its sources when you so intuit, you could verify that so it’s not a real problem. Where is it strong? Its AI-searched and -generated summary answer saves me so much time by not having to look through ten websites and not having to search within the webpage for the relevant information (buried under a dog pile of advertising). Where am I apprehensive? Like all gatekeepers to information, eventually someone with big pockets will pay Perplexity to integrate its products and services favorably in the AI-answers…”pay to play.” When that happens, it will fall to 2 to 4 stars. Until then, it’s a real deal 5-star app.

Not as Good as ChatGPT
I ran the same brief discussion between Perplexity and ChatGPT and found that ChatGPT was able to alter and rationally change it’s opinion based upon logic whereas Perplexity was much more limited in scope. I would give ChatGPT a much higher rating based upon this initial experience. Why waste your time with an AI app that cannot alter it’s data and update it’s perspective to render an intelligent and informative answer? Precisely the kind of answer that professors at our top universities cannot arrive at based upon logic, but that a good AI app such as ChatGPT can do quite easily and much more effectively. The more that people use AI, the more they will realize just how limited cultures restrict thinking whereas AI will leave us far behind if we do not use it wisely.

The best chatAI!
The Perplexity app is a fantastic tool for accessing up-to-date information with the help of AI. Its user-friendly interface and seamless experience make it stand out among other chatAI apps. The app's simple design, absence of ads, and quick response time make it a valuable resource for anyone seeking knowledge. Additionally, the app provides sources for the information it presents, adding credibility to its answers. Overall, Perplexity is a top-notch app that offers a wealth of information without any unnecessary clutter. I highly recommend it and give it a well-deserved 5-star rating!

Family, friendly, and great for educators
I use this simple AI app for everything from finding the answers to random questions or creating fun trivia games. I find directions to games, creative activities, recipes, crafts, or just to find out interesting information because I’m curious like that! I use this in my classroom and with my kids. We use it in the car and doctors offices and sometimes around the table to generate a family conversation. Helps get the brain cells Poppin and makes our minds more curious. I can’t recommend this enough.

Great for Consensus Answers + Follow-up
Pros: * See review title. Logical follow-ups are also suggested, which I find quite handy. * Answers are clear and concise, in plain English. * It’s as fast as google. * History of questions is maintained for returning to topic, and easily deleted as desired. * Zero click bait to distract you. Reminds me of google 15 years ago. * Sources used for consensus information are clearly displayed, and seem to be high-end reliable (NIH, CDC, Mayo Clinic etc.) * Queries are not sent until you hit the “go” arrow, making it easy to read and rephrase as appropriate. For some, this could be a con since it’s an added step, but I prefer it. It leads to more precise, efficient answers. Con’s: I haven’t found any to date. But, since nothing is perfect, 4 stars (I’m a very hard grader). Perhaps it’s simplicity will bother some but, as previously stated, I really like that. Search interfaces are overly complex these days, and filled with invasive, self-serving advertising disguised as entertainment or knowledge.

Incredible for discovering all types of information, including health
I’ve been researching a lot about health recently and have found the results are so helpful in sifting through the vast amount of information of the internet. The fact we have cited sources is incredibly helpful in inspiring more worm holes of information. I’ve found several websites I don’t think I would have ever found if it wasn’t for this invaluable tool. Thank you Perplexity - oh and thank you Lex Fridman Podcast for interviewing the founder of this app!

Great app but microphone needs worked on
I am a voiceover user, and I am running this on iOS 16.5.1. I can go to the TextField and use the dictation button on the keyboard were necessary. However, I noticed that when trying to use the microphone, voiceover, freezes. In order to get voiceover back, I have to exit the app, then turn, voiceover off, then turn voiceover back on. I also have to close the app in the process. I’m hoping that the microphone issue will be fixed soon. I actually heard about this app through an Apple podcast.

I love this app! But there is a slight accessibility issue in this version.
“Hello developers of Perplexity AI. I use this app daily, replacing Google for most of my searches due to its excellent results. However, as a visually impaired person using voiceover on the iPhone, I’ve encountered accessibility issues in the latest version. There are unlabeled buttons that read as ‘button’ without description, which is inconvenient. I hope you can address this for improved accessibility. Despite this, the app is a favorite of mine, though I’ve rated it four stars instead of five due to this concern. Thank you.”

I had been using ChatGPT for months, but would become enraged when it gave me patently incorrect answers. As a test, I asked both ChatGPT and Perplexity a difficult history question found in the Michigan Advance newsletter. ChatGPT provided an incorrect answer, but not only did Perplexity give the correct answer, it listed the sources for the information it provided, one of which was the Michigan Advance. The last time I asked ChatGPT 4.o how recent its database goes to, it answered 2021. Perplexity provided information from Monday’s Michigan Advance.

Good but badly needs specific UX improvement
This is more feature request than review. Devs, please consider the following UX improvements as urgently needed: 1) The prompt field is currently limited to one line. This makes entering long prompts very clunky. The app needs a multi line prompt input field. 2) It’s easy to accidentally clear a prompt, and there is no undo or shake-to-undo. This is a big time waster. The app needs an undo for prompt clears. 3) Reply text cannot current be selected and copied. This greatly slows down many cases of iterative prompting or otherwise rising text from the reply. All prompt and reply text needs to be selectable so that sections can be copied ad hoc. Collectively, these issues mean that a power user greatly benefit from writing prompts in a separate text editor and pasting them over into Perplexity. Clearly this is not ideal - a text based UI needs to have excellent text manipulation UX. Thanks for taking these humble suggestions on board!

Stellar app which functions the way you would hope it to
Upon asking any question, it provides a consolidated answer and links to indicate where the server did its research. It also offers smart follow up questions. It answers whatever you ask coherently and is editorially short and succinct. I haven’t used it enough to know more, but I will persevere. Bottom line is, it’s far more useful and time optimal to provide one detailed answer, than to use google to hatchet together your own. That alone is a pure win.

Can never go back
Perplexity has made web search useful and interesting again. I didn’t realize just how miserable and sad the old way of finding and interacting with information had become. It saves me at least 90 minutes a day, and it blows all the other GPTs away in the web search category. I wish Apple was teaming with Perplexity instead of OpenAI, Perplexity feels like a finished product - I really can never go back to the old way of interacting with information.
