Great app yet lots of potential

Post-it is the best sticky notes app to have on the MacOS. The developers have done a great job creating this minimal yet practical application using the new Catalyst tool, which has allowed the application to make a bold appereance on its debut in the App Store. However, my only concern is the fact that the user cannot interact with the post-it notes on the desktop, the way its done with Apple's 'Stickies'. I personally would love to be able to use and view these sticky notes on the desktop, with the option of writing and resizing them directly from the home screen. Consequently, I find myself using stickies more to group my ideas although I have been wanting to switch to another sticky notes app, as I feel that Apple's Stickies is quite outdated. I hope the developers would take this suggestion into consideration. Thank you for your continous efforts to improve this app.

Great for speech writing

I love using this app to collect tidbits of information as I do research. One per post-it note. Once I've gathered enough of them or I've read all the research material, then I start to organize them into a structure. The ability to group notes and either automatically or manually arrange them comes super handy at this point. I'll add a few missing pieces, then practice giving the speech extemporaneously. After practicing a few times and refining, I'm ready to go. That being said, there are a few rough edges with the app. I would say they're usability or UX issues. Creating a note for example can sometimes just be a bit weird. Where does it go? Into a group? No, it gets its own group at first. Unless you had a group selected. Things like this are a bit of a bummer but I don't know of a better alternative. Hopefully they continue to do some user research and improve this app.

Not bad but. (Also AppleWatch Support app Please!)

I like the simplicity and boldness. But for the Mac version I wish there was more I can control/customize. For example when in the board view, I can't right-click notes and manipulate them that way, Just to delete a note (and get that satisfying crumble up animation)I have to open each individual note --> Click the delete button --> "are you sure you want to delete"--> Yes. That's like a 3 step process that can be so much easier. I don't need to be asked if I'm sure I want to delete, if I accidentally delete a note, I'd rather just have an undo option (or a trash bin). Also Apple Watch support would be the Perfect platform for this!! Post-it's on my watch for a shopping list!?! that would be fantastic. it's literally a square screen PERFECT for a post-it note to be on. Agree with alot of the Reviews--> SOOO much potential

As A Graduate Student, This App is A Life-Saver!

When I first started using the app, I found the "board" concept to be unhelpful and aggravating to use. I simply wanted to created post-it notes and have them stored. Now that I better understand the app, I enjoy using it more and more. I use the app to save citations in APA format, which saves me time when creating documents or trying to find a research article.

Near perfect app, and free.

This app is near perfect. But needs one little tweak. It works great like the apple eco system and any note made on one of my devices shows up on all my other apple devices, except you wont know unless you open the app. What would be great is if the shortcut would have a number indicator to show new notes and how many new ones, or simply have the new notes all stick to the desktop screen so when you get home and wake the mac you get that note front and center. Even if post it created this as a pay for add on to this app I would gladly pay a few bucks for it.

Changed my life

As a busy elementary school counselor, I live and die by my post it notes. I made a post-it for everything and then stuck it to my computer keybard until it was complete and needed to be thrown away or until it was no longer sticky and kept falling off...enter Post-It app and I can move seemlessly between my phone, Ipad and computer without missing a beat or a note. No more losing notes or not having paper to make a note on no matter where I am. This is absolutely life changing!

Unique, a truly great app

Every now and then you get an app that elevates your work and your capabilities. This is one such app. Post-Its have always been an invaluable tool in brainstorming, mapping things out, planning, note taking. All aspects of mental work which the computer now dominates. Here is an app that appreciates where it has come from and where it gotten to. It expands the reach of those humble squares of paper offering a bridge to archiving, sharing, and a wide range of planning tools. Bravo/Brava to all involved.

Put this on my macbook desktop, and I'm SOLD.

I am a die hard post-it fan (anyone else insanely crazy about their Super Sticky line?!) So I had high hopes when I first downloaded this app for my phone. I really like the widget feature. Love the cross over between devices. What makes me think I might have to stay with the Stickies app is that on my macbook, I am unable to post a note on my desktop. For the type of research and work I do, this option is paramount. If this feature exitsted, 5 stars!

Works fair, but could be a lot better. It is missing a lot of capability from the original software by "3M". I miss the ability to email my notes and not really have a way to organize them better that is currently available. the ability to have multiple boards (topics) is disappointing. It works like a screwed up hogpoge of notes. Not easy to sort, not as good of a tool as i had hoped.

Crashing constantly. No Mural export.

The iOS app is solid. This is a review for the MacOS desktop version. I have boards captured on my iOS device, but have no direct way to export to Mural, only Trello or Miro :( I tried exporting to .postit format and sending from iPhone to Mac desktop. When you double-click the file, it will open, but when you click on any object there is a full crash and error report. I've used Post-It > Mural functionality in the past, and it worked so well. I'm not sure why it's lacking now?

A very good app but not quite there.

iCloud support is nice but I would still like to see a designated Post It Account for users that cross to diferrent OS'. Another thing thats lacking is the ability to pin your notes to your main desktop screen. This will also be a great thing to do with the release of iOS 14. A Post it widget to see all your important Post It notes at a glance.

Piece of garbage invasive app won't let me uninstall...

This app is garbage invasive, and I feel suckered by the familiarity of the Post-it Brand. I have closed the app and am trying to drag it into the Mac desktop garbage, and I get this ERROR message: The item “Post-it®” can’t be moved to the Trash because some of its extensions are in use. I am slowly, laboriously, deleting a bunch of crap files and still cannot delete this garbage. Ugh. Hate them now, will try to buy off-brand physical post-its in the future. What a bunch of techoles.

It's okay..

So I usually type my notes but the app demands I use the mouse to handwrite it.. I wish it would let me use type as the default. I also wish there was a "clear note" option. Its definitely better on ipad, but I usually need it for Mac. Hopefully soon they release new updates!

Fills a void

It does what I expected and more. I really do not have a need to take a picture of a post-it and make it digital, but I did have a use for digital post-it, short nots to self (mostly) to supplement my aging recall capability. That the notes are shared between macOS & iOS truly makes it useful.

Too complicated

I agree with some of the other reviews that this is just too complicated. All I want is a digital sticky note on my desktop. No boards or need to open an app to view the note. Keep what you have for some people but give the simple option to those who want it too. You have taken a genius physical product and turned it into a technolgical exercise in vanity.

Neat functionality

Once you import your post-its to the tool and start using the App, I found that typing notes was a frenetic experience. I would start typing and the cursor would jump around. Being able to fully import to a tool like Mural, or MIro, where you can easily manipulate and "note" on each sticky directly would be awesome.

I just lost about 30 notes

I used to love this app but now it seems really glitchy and the worst is i just spent the last 2 hours filling in about 30 notes then they all just disapaered. I did not delete them they are just suddenly gone. I was looking at the board and suddenly i only had about 10 notes! I will have to re-do all the work, i am not using this app again after that happened. I worry about the security of my notes. I can't have them vanishing!!

Useless

I keep trying to take photos of existing post-it notes to add to this app, and it worked once out of 10 times. The little camera icon vanishes from the app and I cannot bring it back. The "add an existing photo" does not mean take a new photo, and I am NOT going to waste my time transcribing notes I have already taken onto their little online post-it. I feel gypped because I wasted time trying to make this work and only added one note. Good thing I didn't waste money too.

Nice, BUT...

It works well, but crashes every time I log into my Mac. After everything has opened up, you can open it and it is OK. Wish there was a way to delay it from opening until everything else has opened at startup.

Nice syncing between devices, need tweaks

I organize my daily work todo list with post-it notes so this is a great electronic alternative. Nice that it syncs between devices. One glairing omission is the fact that you cannot set the default size of a post it note. Otherwise very good.

Post-it Widget prevents mac from sleeping

After installing the app, my mac would not sleep, and the screen saver wouldn't start. According to the activity monitor, the "Post-It" Widget was preventing sleep. The app couldn't be deleted from the application folder until I first deleted the widget. Once the app and widget were removed from the system, my mac was able to sleep properly. Tremendous waste of time. The app may be free, but it's still not worth it.

Such a Great App though, Asian Fonts are Missing

The functionality of the app is awesome. But when if I write some Korean, the fonts are missing so I just get default apple font instead of some handwriting font for english. Which is fine but, when if I write Korean with English, the typos are became so ugly to use the app. You can get Really Find and also Free Korean Handwriting Fonts; that named as "Nanum Pen Script" or "Nanum Brush Script". Or instead, you can just add some font option toogle button that switch fonts to OS default font.

Shortcuts

Be great if there was an apple shortcut that allowed me to dictate directly to a note. Right now I can create a blank note. After that, I'm not sure how to add text.

Used to work Great! Not Now......

After past 2 updates, there are big time/lag delays in updating changes and the inconsistent syncing among different devices rendereing this app not reliable. It was prior to these updates. Not sure what happened? Needs to be fixed as this takes away the selling feature of this app. Changes need to be timely between devices. Would not recommend for collaboration until fixed.

Organization in my life

I used to have post its everywhere in my place, now I love to create bords of different categories, with structures and is easier to put the ideas together.

Simple not simple

How to for basic instructions, like reducing font size and simple navigation isn't provided. I trashed so many notes just trying to figure out how to use the post. Any entry beyond the size will get lost. Unable to view complete note. I'll be searching for a better user friendly note.

To Much Clicking!

I needed a quick easy post it note app and was really hoping this one would be quick and efficient but i was to much clicking for me. I wanted to be able to open, click, write and post. I was hoping post-it would be as efficient as they are with REAL post-its "Write, pull, post" haha oh well thanks for the effort!

annoying

I am trying to get the post-it note to show up on my desktop screen for a Mac. My PC had a free post-it app that opened easily and allowed the note to hang-out on the screen for quick notes as needed. I have spent an hour trying to figure it how to make my note stay open on my screen -and have been unsuccessful.

expected a little more.

Unable to post on desk top. if there is a way to do this i will give more stars. I dont want to open app each time is that not the reason for a post it. If there is a way and I have not found it then this is the best post notes app

Didn't prompt me to save

There's no obvious save action in the menu, and when i quit the application after layoing out all of my notes for a presentation prep at the end of the day, it did not prompt me to save my work...instead I've now lost everything I did. A bit disappointing from a user experience perspective.

The issues with the Mac version are echoed in the other reviews. Apparently no solutions are in the works since some are years ago. Time to move on!

Inadequate instructions and not user friendly

This is not a well-designed app. Creating a new note is intuitive but the interface to edit it isn't and doesn't make sense. Yesterday I was able to create a note that appeared on the desktop. Today it doesn't appear.

Not Working

I don't know if they need to update it again, but now there is a glitch where everytime you try to work on the post-it board the whole program unexpectedly shuts down. It looks like it was good a few years ago, but it isn't working anymore.

How can Post-its be so difficult to work with

Don't bother. I would rather have actual paper Post-Its all over my computer screen then take to time to learn how to use these on my desktop. This is not user friendly in the least. Sorry, Post-It. Stick to paper.

I clicked on the download icon and waited for the "open" button to appear. I click on the "open" button, and nothing. I look for the app in applications. Again, nothing. I. do a spotlight search. Still nothing.

Not what I wanted

I could swear I use to have an app that wrote post-its I could see on my desktop, this is not it, I do not like having everything in an app I could just make lists in my notes for the same effect

Can't use the app

I've downloaded the app twice now. And deleted it twice. Each time I try to use this it closes and I get an error message. That's not particularly helpful if I can't actually use it.

Meh

Interaction is very ridiged. Interface in not very intuititive. The freedom of actual sticky notes is not coming through in this app - There are better tools out there. I'd suggest Miro or Murally for a more open and rewarding experince

A lot to be desired

The best part of actual Post-it notes is that you can easily move them around on a board. I tried for a few minutes and just gave up. Post-it notes are fun and helpful, this app is neither.

NO IDEA HOW TO GET A NOTE STARTED.

The stickies APP on IMAC no longer works so I would give this app a try. Absolute confusion, it launches but can not do anything else. Get preprinted stickies and cannot get one simple blank note. I checked for option and menues, absolutely nothing. I moved it to trash and will try something else.

Sadlly, It just doesn't work on imacbookpro/Catalina.

I had great expectations about this app, but no way to interact with it, no Preferences active, no way to open a new note, no nothing and at the end, it crashes with performing anything. How come such an awful performaning App can be published?

Difficult to Use

There is a steep learning curve with his app. Resizing Post it notes only makes the font larger. There are no videos to watch to about the use. Really frustrating.
