Dear Provident CU, After I made several payments to my Personal Loan, I decided to make my “pay off” to my Personal Loan. Online. At first, I called your Call Center, and Monique picked up my call. Monique was very matter of fact; however, she could not guide me thru the steps in order to pay off my loan, on line. I have the $ in my Provident CU Checking Account, yet, Monique was unable to see my Personal Loan account on her screen; however, she could see every other aspect of my financial business with Provident. After much time passed, I decided that I am getting nowhere with Monique, and said “Good Bye” to her, and went back online to see if I could find the way to pay off my Personal Loan. I did. I transferred funds. Now, I would like to request that my “AutoPay” for my Personal Loan discontinue. For verification, you could check with Colleen Knowles at the Folsom Call Center. Colleen did a very professional job in walking me thru the application process, so she should be able to verify. Thank You, Provident Credit Union.
I’m embarrassed to say I engaged with a scammer. The call seemed to come from Provident’s headquarters. I have now learned that any number can be hijacked. The next day Provident’s real fraud department called after the scammer tried to get into my account. I had to go in and change account numbers and ATM cards, but Steve at the Los Gatos office was very thorough, and never once acted as if I was a senile old person whose actions were wasting his time-in the contrary, he was compassionate and very helpful. So far the incident hasn’t resulted in any loss of funds-and I know several friends who have not been so protected. Thank you, Provident.
The new version is really great compared to a few years ago. Everything works and the app is very elegant. I'm always able to log in and I feel that the banking connection of this app uses top notch cyber security. I've been a provident member since 2009 and they're so much better than my previous bank (Bank of America BoA) that it's awesome. BoA stole my thousands of dollars of my money using a sophisticated scam aimed at low income college kids, Provident CU is so much better to their customers that it makes BoA look like craigslist scam.
In March 2023, the App was updated so it is no longer an app, but instead is a Web View inside of a App wrapper. It no longer displays your Total Balance for ALL accounts. It does not display your current balance for any account. It is slow. It is cluttered with unhelpful bank “FYI Noticed” between Every Section which both takes up screen space and makes it difficult to do the tasks you want. It has 3 different ways to do a Transfer, one of which doesn’t allow a description but also doesn’t explain that. And if you have recently opened the iOS “app” and shortly after go on the website from a browser, you get emails about “Concurrent Session Detected.” Awful experience. Terrible. I do not recommend.
I am sorry I don’t remember her name, but she answered to 7, other issues with a credit card when I called the 800 number. As always, this employee was also warm, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I live very far away from this credit union but am still keeping a checking account and a credit card with Provident out of loyalty. This credit union has treated me well for 37 years!
So like, why does every single button click seem to reload and re-get your entire profile? There’s absolutely nothing saved in memory ever, so after clicking on anything, you’ll have to wait 5-10 seconds AT BEST for the information on the next page to load. What app has no back function in 2021? If the app was just getting the new information required, it shouldn’t even take that long. I suspect the app reloads the entire database, re-initializes all your information, and THEN only chooses the relevant information to display. Either that, or the database they use to to store user info is extremely poorly maintained and without a way for the front end programmers to deal with reasonably. Or, lastly, maybe they’re renting the cheapest servers known to man to service online banking, so even if the engineering is fine, each request takes forever to get there and back. Provident is literally in the Silicon Valley, there is so much software engineering talent that can help fix this garbage fire so it’s not like there’s no one to hire. Please do that.
I went to the branch to make a deposit and open a cd. I told them to deposit the check directly to the CD so I don’t have to worry about the hold. They did not listen to me and still proceeded in depositing the check to my checking and then do the transfer. Now it left my availability on a Negative. I have some transactions going through spin have to make some transfer. First of all the check is a bank check, why would they put long hold on it also had they despoil the check directly to the CD, I would not have any issue whether they put a Month hold. I think the procedure at the branch is incorrect and they need to be taught the right way. This has cause a convenience to me. Sincerely, Alfredo c
By far the slowest banking app I’ve ever used. Thought things might speed up a bit after their much needed refreshed update, but nope; still stupid slow. But none of this matters when you can’t even sign on because the app isn’t even working. You know it’s bad when there’s a disclaimer before you even sign on stating there are problems with the app doing what it’s suppose to do. I joined this credit union for a low interest rate on a vehicle loan and that’s about all they are good for. Communication is severely lacking at their branches and their online service is a joke. Keeping my money in this institution will be something I will never do.
No matter how many times the app is updated and so-called improvements done. It works one percent of the time regardless. provident credit union needs someone who knows what they’re doing to create a functional app. It’s ridiculous how many times I have to manually go to an ATM to make deposits etc because the app never works. Very disappointing!
When I enter my credentials at login, I always get a ‘Switch user?’ Prompt - I then log in and all works fine. Issue followed me from two earlier iPhones and through uninstalling and reinstalling the app on both this newest phone (14 pro max) and my previous (12), and only happens when I try to log in, click through that switch user (and actually am using the same user) and log in, just fine- otherwise works great
Fairly vanilla banking app that gets the basics done
I would like to see some improvements such as being able to find an ATM without first logging into the app. In fact, I have an easier time finding a branch on their website than in the app. I’d love to see fraud alerts handled in the app rather than having to call or via text.
I opened an account with provident back in 2014, and I have zero regrets doing so!! The best customer service that I have had in a while. Super nice and friendly people. The best banking branch that I have came around to be honest. You can keep “bank of America” & “Chase”, I’ll gladly stay with provident. Thank you people so much for serving me these past years😄💯
The computer access time when signing on and accessing accounts is very very slow compared with with other institutional banks accounts such as Bank of America and E*Trade. Otherwise I would give Provident CU a 5 star rating for logical layout of categories and appearance of website. Please speed up access!!!
Before the recent updates, the app ran more smoothly. Now there is a huge delay when I sign in. If the sign in delay can be fixed so it doesn’t take like 30 seconds or not being able to sign it all, it would be appreciated.
I have IPhone 11 and since last week when they changed things around, for worse, my app takes up to 3 minutes trying to sign in and then it says there is something wrong with app. Duh, I know.
I’ve been a member of provident for over two decades and I just realized Provident does nothing for me. The app was nothing but headaches and the CU itself is just not competitive in 2022. I’ve recently tried elsewhere and the service Im receiving is much more of what should be expected in this new state of online banking. Better interest, less penalties, actually provides useful and competitive services and the app actually functions properly. Provident is fine for the “boomer” group it was made for. It’s just not for me.
This app has made my life so much easier. I could never make it to a branch to deposit checks or transfer balances. Being able to conduct bank business from my phone is amazingly easy with this app.
When I called the number on the back of the card for assistance with my pin, they notify me they cannot help me When I called the number on the card, ask him to help me remove a block that’s on my instant deposit. They asked for all this information to only to tell me like 10 minutes later they have to trust me to another department or they can’t help me or the department they charge me to cannot help we have to go into a branch. It’s ridiculous.
Great Credit Union, but their phone app isn’t so good. If you’re ok with doing your online banking via your Mac/PC I’d recommend Provident. Their customer service (phone or in person is great), their rates are very competitive and they have many locations in the Peninsula.
This app is slower than a wet week. Further, I’m pretty sure you could made external transfers even more complicated… please open a bank account with someone else, download their app, and see what you aught to be doing. How is it with all the complaints over the years, they're still giving five stars.? What’s going on here?
I have spent days trying to set this up with help from Provident. Uber frustrating. I have resubmitted info a hundred times. Generally I like provident , but I hate the way they ask for information like drivers license all the time. Annoying and time consuming.
Provident Credit Union’s Super Rewards checking is one of the best interest rates out there, and I’ve loved banking with them. However their app is rather mediocre. The online banking browser experience is better. And hey, you’re supporting a credit union, which is way more ethical than a bank!
I have been with Provident CU for over 9 years and the people are always graciously friendly. This latest version of its banking app is really easy to navigate and I have nothing but praise to share.
Provident has been my credit union over 20 years and they have been first rate all the way. The superb customer service as well as the mobile site are top notch. Love me some Provident!
App is a joke. It is so hard to access my banking services unless my phone is connected to my Wifi at home. On the road, it keeps asking for a number to contact me to access my account but nobody ever calls me or messages me. And when I try to answer the security questions, it crashes.
Over the course of my entire adult life working with as many as 10 different large banks, Provident Credit Union is and has been the best bank I have worked with.
The app is so slow still. Takes awhile to load after login/accounts, then slow to load the individual accounts. Even Providents website is slow but the app is worse! I have accounts at 5 other credit unions and banks and NONE of them lag as much as Providents! Please fix this!
This app seems to have connectivity issues or they’re doing some type of site maintenance quite a lot. It can be frustrating, I’m not sure if other banking apps suffer from this... It is frustrating when you need access your finances and you don’t because the app won’t respond.
App has paid merchants twice and credit union said have to call merchants for a refund....unacceptable. Too many layers in app, ie finding billing payment history, pending transactions, etc.
Even on a newer iPhone this app is so slow to load- not sure why their developers can’t fix that. You are better off just accessing their site on your phone browser and bookmark. It’s much faster than this app and has almost all of the same functionality.
I have enjoyed having my Account d with PCU. Their staff is friendly and professional and very willing to assist you. Their online banking is easy and simple to use.
I’ve been with provident 25 years! I’ve tried other banks horrible! Charge you for everything ect. I downloaded the app. SUPER easy to use and EXTREMELY USEFUL! Promise you’ll like it
I’ve been with Provident for well over 30 years. I’ve been through lots of changes. This latest version of the app is slow, adds extra steps to the logging process and is glitchy. Go back to the previous version until you can sort it out.
The app is okay. It’s a bit clunky initiating transfers and the app itself is challenging to log into. Glad they finally allowed the text codes for two factor authentication to auto populate! Works great for basic tasks.
Takes forever to transition screens and do what I need to do. But it does have a lot of functionality. If the made the performance and transition times smoother it would be much better.
Good app with all the features you would want from any bank. My only frustration is the it is very slow. It takes far too long to bring up account information.
The app hangs constantly when you try to load it. I have been trying to open the app for the last 10 minutes without success. I would say about 80% of the time when I try to open the app I can’t.
When viewing the description, it would be very useful to have either a pop-up of full information with memo when you hold your mouse over the description or full description listed in its entirety.
