I really like and enjoy the format for the journaling. I also appreciate the features and this program is exactly what I was looking for. I particularly wanted a program that didn't store my entries on the company server, but instead on my device or my icloud. My only issue is that I have been unable to sync my ipad version with my desktop OS version. It says that it can be synced, but I haven't figured out how. When I go to App Support, I get a blog page for the developer and not a way to contact them. So that's annoying....but overall I like the program.
I was a bit hesitant at getting this…but it looked like it was a free app, so I figured I’d give it a try. Well…it’s only free for 3 “memories”. then you have to pay $4.99 to continue. But last year I was using 750 Words for $5 per month. I figured it was easier and cheaper to use this app. By trying it, I knew that I liked the way it worked…so it was a no brainer for me. If I miss posting once in awhile (like the next two days) that is fine…with 750 Words I could do that, but the challenges they have on their site makes you want to do it everyday…no matter what. Again, this is simple to use. You can post photos (I’m trying to post one photo a day along with my “Memories”. So….I say get it! Try it for free for 3 days (memories)….then pay the “big bucks” of $5.00 to own it. It’ is totally worth it!
Maybe my criteria are weird, but after searching and trying out MANY journaling apps, this is the closest to what I want: 1) OS/iOS access, 2) password-protection, 3) a reasonably user-friendly UI. I’m not blogging or trying to promote “my beautiful life” or taking notes/spreading my words on the world as I see it, but there are SO MANY apps that promote/integrate those activities, and SO FEW that are just an easy, SECURE way to record what one did/does/thinks/perceives in a day. [AND MORE! If one wants to! Photos! Videos! Location tracking! SO MANY MORE FEATURES!] But seriously, this is a GREAT option for people who want to do a lot — OR very little. And do it on a laptop, an iPhone, or an iPad. And with some security.
I am an aspiring creative writer (songs, poetry, books, blogs, etc.) and I needed something I could access from any device so whenever I had a whim I could jump in and put my thoughts down. Reminisce has met that needs and exceeded it. Clean, non distracting, but also has great organizational tools and appropriate design options. This is a wonderful tool for the beginning journal writer, middle school diary keeper, or aspiring professional writer. Additionally the premium features come as a one time cost rather than a monthly subscription like the other options (I’m Looking at You Day One!).
This app is a great value for the price — it is just a journaling app. So many I looked at had so many additional features that I wasn’t looking for and such higher price tags! It is just what I have needed to get started on my journaling journey. THE ONLY THING MISSING — once you hit “done” on an entry, you are done. There is no editing options once you’ve hit the “done” button. That is taking some getting used to because I never seem to be able to catch my mistakes or I realize I would have liked it arranged differently. Other then that, this is really a very good app!
After I discovered Day One had this fatal problem - you know that when you press the "space" key you can preview a file, and Day One stored all the journal files on your computer as ".doentry" files, and anyone can just press "space" and see your input, which makes its password futile. Reminisce users have no such concern, but here comes another concern: I really hope that the App will automatically lock itself after a while of inactivity. It means a lot for users who care a lot about their privacy.
It has a simple and clean interface that is easy to use, however, only being able to have 3 moments before having to pay for the full version of the app is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. I think you should be able to have at least 30 moments or so before having to pay for the full version or perhaps have a 30 day trial or something similar. Also, not being able to choose multiple moods for moments is a downside but not a deal breaker. The ability for it to sync between iOS and MacOS is a great feature!
I have been using this for over a year and have found it to be absolutely the best daily journal app I have ever used and I have used a "ton" (8) of them over the years. I like how it works on Macs, iPhones and iPads. It syncs using iCloud, which is the most effecient and safe form of retaining records and synchronization. It is intuitive to use without burdening you down with a lot of features you will never use. It is not a resource hog and has a small footprint. It is excellent overall.
Been using this for about 2 weeks and I have found it very useable. I have been someone who did journals since a kid and I am hoping this one will stick around. I Have purchased several Journal programs and then a year or two later with the updates to my os they wont work and I loose everything because you can’t open them either. Hoping this one stays. Please keep up with the os updates. Next I will have to go back to the books. Thanks I do like this program and would recommend it.
This is a very good journaling application. You can tag your entries and put all kinds of other data on them to help you organize and find them in the future. The app has a simple layout and a good selection of features for journaling. There is also an iOS app that you can sync with using iCloud and edit or create entries using any of your iOS devices as well. Which I use a lot actually. Overall, not the most extensive diary/journaling software but very good, simple to use, and highly recommended.
I like a lot of things about Reminisce. I've long been a fan of its blend of simplicity & versatility, specifically the ability to use with all of my iOS & Mac devices seamlessly with iCloud synchronization & backups. It does however seem like support is dwindling. I have a simple question about formatting a list, and am unable to find anyone to contact or any active forums to post in.
I have tried several different journals and this one is perfect for me. It has a clean and simple user interface that includes all the right features without being bogged down in bells and whistles that I am not interested in using. A great place to jot down thoughts, reflections, and capture memories with a photo and some thoughts. I have had no glitching or problems with the app and have thoroughly enjoyed using it. Thanks!
Ive had this app for quite a while now and I absolutely love it! It even allows me to change the date if I forget to journal for a certain day (this is what I love most about it) I gave it only 4 stars because I wish that i can place the pictures I post in different areas of the journal entry. It puts it on the bottom of page.
It is a very useful app. normally, I don't spend time on writing review but this app makes my life easier. the very first thing in the morning to plan my day on that app and discuss my projects or plans. It is very easy to use and since it has calendar format, you can go to date and click to see what you wrote on that day. Thanks so much!
The app itself is great for journaling. It is very easy to use, intuitive, easy to tag, and great for archiving your writing. The actual platform to write could use improvement. The only options to ‘spice up’ your entries are bold and italics. I think it could be vastly upgraded to include formatting (bullet and list functionalities), underlining, colored fonts, changes in font sizes, etc. It is very basic as it is. The bones are solid, but it could be improved.
I LOVE Reminisce Journal. I am able to link it with my icloud and I do not need to worry anymore if my laptop is damaged or the app is damaged. Knowing that my journals are all in good shape feels happy to record down the things I wanted to freely. Thanks for the quick email response and being helpful and patient to answer my question.
Once I got the hang of Reminisce, and discovered all the little bits and pieces, I really loved this app. Helps me to keep up with my To-Do list, review what I have accomplished, track my moods, etc. I have not noticed any of the problems mentioned in some of the past reviews, so I guess they got them fixed. I do recommend this app.
I thought this was going to be exactly what I wanted but it was so difficult to get a photo into a post I couldn't even focus on writing. You cannot copy and paste an image into the app. You can drag-and-drop BUT you cannot resize it after. Which would be fantastic so it doesn't take up a lot of space but you could still click it to see the full image. I really wanted this one to work :-(
My entries are mainly about the vegetable garden we (are slaves to) cultivate. As such, short notes and the occasional inserted image are the daily bread. I recommend the app. Haven't found a way to sync off-site, not sure if there is one? Do include your Reminisce entries in your local backup or Time Machine, etc.
This is just what I've been looking for: a simple, calendared journal that syncs between my laptop and iPhone. Unfortunately, it’s been buggy so far: it often does not reflect the correct date (is a day behind) and the iPhone app often forgets that I already have purchased the premium app and gives me restriction messages.
I opened the app and just started writing, so that's all I wanted. I will learn to use some of the other features as I write more. I hope I will continue to use this app, or that I'm not just using a free trial. Fingers crossed.
I like this app a lot, and have it on my desktop at home, my laptop, and my phone, and all three sync. It’s easy to use, and with a daily journal, that’s what counts. Used it for about 6 months now and am a convert to online journal because of it.
I love this app and have used it daily for the past year BUT
I love this app and have used it daily for the past year BUT with the recent update, the app changed all of my fonts and took away any italics which I had used. I am very dissappointed that all of my unique fonts have been changed back to Arial. In addition, when I change the font now, the app does not save the changes and it will not save the use of italics. I am very disappointed in this update and how it effected my journaling.
All of my entries from when I purchased this in January 2017 are gone. I paid for the full version but there is nothing but the entry from yesterday. What is the point if it will periodically erase everything i wrote. I am very unhappy about this. There is no settings that I can find to backup each entry to the hard drive so there is no protection for this not happening again.
This app is inconsistent in automatically setting itself to the correct day and time when creating a new entry. On more than one occasion I have had to manually change it. Seems like a glitch that needs to be corrected and offered up to customers who are experiencing the same issue.
This app is simple yet efficient. I wanted something easy to use for daily journaling that I could incorporate photos into and this does just that. Runs smoothly with no major glitches. I would highly recommend it.
This app is VERY GOOD and I would actually say it was excellent if we could zoom in on photos that we drag into it. The zoom feature is a must, so I really hope that in furture upgrades they will address this.
I was looking for just a basic app to remember my life. I love that I can click on the calendar and write something that I did a week ago easily. I had issues with this with other apps. Perfect for keeping a simple diary.
I love this app so much, super easy to use and responsive. ONE BIG PROBLEM: I purchased the full verion on my phone for $2.99 and now I have to pay $4.99 on my MacBook? That is really stupid, the payment should be a one time thing! I like to have both devices linked and I should be able to type (more than 3 entries) on both devices! Am I doing somethign wrong?
I just needed a simple way to journal and capture images - this app gives me everything I need in a simple uncomplicated format. Love this - helps me to keep my mind and emotions centered and helps me keep focused on the path ahead.
I like the way this app is laid out. Everything works well and it is easy to navigate. I find this app to be very useful and use it daily. I highly recommend this.
I really like jotting down just the highlights of the day and this is great for it. I was disappointed with the free version as that it only allow 3 entries. Overall though it is worth the price for me.
I love this app. I mainly use it as a log for my progress in big projects and it is nice to be able to keep track of each day. Very straightforward and helpful. 10/10.
Its a cool app it tells you where you a=wrote an entry and the calander is cool because it lights up the days you wrote so it gives you a good sense on how often yoiu write. I dont like that you cant change the font or the font colors. Overall its pretty good.
I very much like this app and it is a lot cheaper than the overpriced Day One which is heading toward subscription service! The Reminisce journal app syncs with iCloud AND there is an iOS app as well as macos. Features I would love to see: 1. Touchbar support for new MacBook Pros 2. Ability to zoom in on photos using trackpad zoom 3. Add videos to posts Overall, I really like it. Best and most reasonably priced journal option out there right now for the Mac in my opinion.
I got this app because it can sync with my Mac and my phone, but I’be found that I use it almost exclusively on my Mac for the easier typing. It’s simple, but gets the job done for me.
Great app. Does what I need and organizes entries in lists and calendar view. Simple to use and edit. And the greatest thing ever, it's NOT subscription based!! It's a one time payment, very resonable. Thank you developers
I was looking for a simple to use app - this looked like it and I was beginning to get into it and then after posting a long “fourth” moment. (my 4th entry) I went to save it and it tells me to buy it or I cannot post anymore. I get it - you want to make money but in your description you need to say that there are only 3 free posts. Now I am on to another “free” app.
I actually like this app and find it very useful for my random thoughts. Unfortunately, I can't seem to remember my password and have no way of accessing my journal :( Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This app was really helping me with writing down my thoughts, and is both easy to use and secure. But all my memories got deleted after a year of using writing my thoughts. I was very disappointed to see all my notes just vanish, and tried emailing the owner of the app but he never got back to me.
I pruchased for both Mac and IOS. I have used it for over a year and really found it simple and useful. Now suddenly it wont stay open and quits immediately !!! I can't access months of stuff I need and it looks like the support is just a BLOG.
Overall I actually like the app. It's getting a 1 star because of the support. I don't remember my login on the macbook. I have reached out three times about it and I have not received a response. Hopefully I will get a response from this review.
