Trying to play this on iPhone X, and all the game elements disappear. Radar, speed up, slow down buttons, etc. are present but the actual game is blank/black screen. If I reset the app/close it and restart, I see the blue game screen for a second and it disappears again. Oh well, it was free.
The combination of lo res blocks and 3D movement give this challenging game a unique and pleasing visual look. The controls for weapons and propulsion are simple and intuitive, very easy to get comfortable with. Together they combine to give freedom of movement. Unlike many piloting games, I never felt I had to fight the controls as well as the enemy targets. It's a rare game that doesn't make you feel like you are suffering from tunnel vision. The challenges are a combination of high speed evasion and precise maneuvering, with a few puzzles thrown in to keep you on your toes. I really enjoyed the way the smooth and steady increase in the level of challenge. At this point I've cleared the first five levels and anticipate several more hours of fun. The game shows the highly developed sense of design possessed by the creator. I intend to watch sharply for more offerings from this game designer in the future. Well done!
I had a great time with this game. The controls took some getting used to, but after a short while I was blasting like a pro going full speed. It is short, but every level is unique and there are multiple unlockable difficulties. Here's hoping for more levels in the future! By the way, the games aesthetics are beautiful. Bravo!
Has the potential to be fun, only if it stopped crashing so much
The title says it all. The app crashes often, the game seems fun, but I cant even play it properly to enjoy it fully. Developers, please fix this game.
Not sure if it's a retina issue or what. But the game starts up, looks like i'm ready to play, but drops back to the menu when I tap the movement controls. Throttle works fine, but not the radar.
The game is nice but the controls need flipping. I'm used to using movement with my left finger, and I can't get past Lv. 4. BTW Thanks for supporting the iCade.
Retroid is a space arcade game built with lo-res voxels. Please enjoy the five levels of stylish blocky action! Although is is an arcade game, it has the unusual feature that at any time you can pinch, zoom, rotate the 3D camera to see the action from any angle. There's a button to zoom out to orthogonal 2D view, too, if you are feeling nostalgic. This game also supports a certain arcade cabinet peripheral that shall not be iNamed. The levels and characters for Retroid were built with the block-construction app "Voxel."
